Seems Legit...

The VioletFyre byline doesn't have an author page here, but she has posted almost 270 comments and forum messages since 2007, according to the Search function here. (She responded to six of your blog entries between 2008 and 2013.)

Screen name is VioletFyre; the signature on her early messages was Shannon Johnston; those since 2013 are Samirah M. Johnstone. Apparently she adopted Islam about the same time you did, a decade or so ago.

Thanks.

I'll use your comment to refresh my memory.

Priorities

I regularly support BCTS and adding someone else to the mix, I can't do. I'm surprised that Erin allowed you to post your request.

An excerpt from the above-cited story, semi-autobiographical, BTW:

Theresa looked at Angela with puzzlement; as if to ask why. Of course there was nearly no need to ask after two lifetimes of love, but Angela answered the unspoken question.

"If she’s your daughter, then how could she be anyone but my daughter as well?" They both began to cry again, but in the hope that the beautiful child they were never privileged to bear would know that two Mommies knew and cared and loved their faraway child…..

Now more than ever with Mrs. D's passing, I've come to realize just how much the real girl in this story came to help Mrs. D's understanding my own story. I trust that she looks down and loves the girl more than ever as well. Thanks for reading.

Samirah has been an important person in my life as an 'adopted' daughter. Much of my late wife's understanding of my identity as transgender can be attributed to the scenario depicted in the fictional account above, including our discussion regarding 'mothers'. I wrote the story as a way of finding something redeemable in my wife's death. And my request for help for Samirah is a way of honoring my wife's desire to understand.

I've seen personal blogs requesting financial help here before

So apparently it's allowed. Some times site members who have been here a while get in a jam and have nowhere else to turn to. All the ones I've seen did it exactly once, and I'll bet coming here hat in hand was a last resort; and super embarrassing for them to have to do.

I know from our frequent PM-ing that Andrea's been in tight financial straits before but in 13 years has never done this regarding her own situation, so why would she suddenly start scamming people now?.And like you I'm barely able to kick in a few bucks to the site itself on occasion, I'm never in a place where I'm able to assist people with next meal/eviction issues (beyond occasionally giving a buck to a homeless person, if they catch me early in the month); But I don't go out of my way to insult the poster, and then come back + do it again. My daddy used to tell me the panhandlers we saw around town all drove Rolls Royces + lived in swanky penthouses. Sometimes daddies are full of shit.
