Betrayal

It is widely believed that a slap to a child's face is the worst example of punishment since it uses a body part intended for kindness and care to inflict 'discipline' on the most personal part of a human being's self. Every single bit of Legislation designed to prohibit Gender-affirming care for kids is a slap in the face to a trans child. The proposed bills and newly-enacted laws reject and betray that child's sense of self.

Montana Governor Signs Law Banning Transgender Care for Minors
Gov. Greg Gianforte had been urged by his son, who is nonbinary, to reject the bill. A transgender lawmaker was barred from the House floor after the debate.
(Multiple sources)

"'This bill is an overly broad blanket ban that takes decisions that should be made by families and physicians and puts them in the hands of politicians,' the Montana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics has said."

Double Standard

BarbieLee's picture

Republicans are passing laws only parents have the right to know what's right for their own child not the schools. Now, only states have the right to know what's right for the child not the parent.
Interesting double standard coming from the same bunch. Is there anyway to get tossed off this Big Blue Space Ship hurling through space? I don't want to play their silly games.

but even in the UK the government who are right-wing sleaze-bags are becoming increasingly anti-transgender, there is no rationale for it except that we are a small minority who can't fight back, so are an easy target. It isn't helped by people like JK Rowling who isn't usually one of the Tory's supporters. Like the Republicans, the Tories are doing all they can to dismantle public services and make life difficult for the little people. To say I despise them is an understatement.

May we in this community never remotely experience the plight of pre-Civil War African-Americans or 1930s or 1940s Jews and other minorities in Europe.

But in a painfully ironic way, not only are there "Free States" and their counterparts regarding the LGBTQ+ community at large, but thankfully and sadly necessary, we now have refuge states and even offers of transportation out of Trans condemning entities and governments. Some state legislatures are submitting bills to prevent parents of trans kids from seeking medical help OUT-OF-STATE. And some states have 'Hot Lines" established for citizens to report any parents who run afoul of restrictions. At least one state has offered rewards for those reporting 'infractions.'

And like the sad reality in Katherine Anne Porter's book, Ship of Fools, not only are wayfarers risking all and struggling to find help in their journeys, but a lot of folks on that trip fail to see how duplicitous things can be when they continue to put their complete trust in the ones who are betraying them.

Boxer the Horse in Animal Farm, said "I will work harder!" There are those of us (myself included) who either did or now are espousing that Mantra. He ended up being taken away to a glue factory.

May we safely outgrow the slightest need for a Meep Gies or a Harriet Tubman!

It occurrs to me

That the best attack against the fink lines is to sandbag them. Report everybody, especially the most biggoted! Sandbag them suckerz! Report Abbot daily, everytime you think of it. Report Trump, report Cruz, report Desantlois. Make them sift through the noise! DOS them! From the local hooded politician to the head dog in DC. Report them all!

The Finkline numbers, as you aptly describe them, and established to report trans-affirming parents and doctors are being flooded with calls that give phony info. It's also happening in states that reward citizens for reporting abortion law violations. Tie up the system.

HIPPA Violation?

Anyone reporting someone for having an abortion should be prosecuted for violating medical privacy laws (HIPPA).

Unfortunately

Only those individuals actually responsible for the records of the procedures are liable; i.e. hospitals, doctors, pharmacies, etc. AND those folks in those entities who report would likely be protected (look the other way) by the states that pass these bills since they enacted this in the first place. It's why there are signs requesting privacy for transactions in doctor's offices and drug stores since it is incumbent upon the service provider alone to ensure privacy.

what is happening makes me ill

and its one reason why I made my little parody - a reminder to myself that being trans isn't some horrible disease.

is those populist legislators who once they dealt with us, will then consume another minority to remain populist. Eventually when the population shrinks right down they might recognise they are next (hopefully still wearing those horrible MAGA baseball caps). Democracy has to be protected too many people can't see it, mainly because they are idiots.
