Trans Safe Haven

Oklahoma is one of many states outlawing transgender care of any kind until one is twenty-one? I think the age is right There were so many changes going into that bill I'm not sure. No psychiatric support, no medical support, no nothing, zero, zilch, nata. If you receive any they promise to persecute (not a misprint) you and the person(s) supplying support. A draconian bill for those in Oklahoma who are trans. I still love Oklahoma but everyone here knows I'm a few bricks shy of a full load. Don't like my governor nor senate, or house, love the state. I'm great at dodging tornadoes.

Okay let's move on to better news. Oklahoma wouldn't let me amend my birth certificate nor my CDL. I did a work around on the CDL and they can have my birth certificate. I don't need it any longer. I knew I could have drove up to Colorado and picked up a new CDL with everything swapped over with the court order but didn't need to. Once again Colorado comes through for transgender. They not only allow trans care but block other states from prosecuting those who receive it. Oklahoma isn't the only state who claimed they would prosecute anyone who received trans care out of state if they were a citizen of Oklahoma. My God talk about over reach! Travel across the state line to receive medical care and go to prison. How can that even be constitutional or legal in the United States? We're a REPUBLIC not a socialist nation. So illegal in so many ways but until it works it's way through the courts, watch your back and don't tell anyone you're driving across the state line for medical support.

If one is military vet Oklahoma can't touch you. It's all Federal. I just so damn lucky! God still loves me. People do diligent research as other states are doing the same thing. Some offering a safe haven, others willing to prosecute if one is trans and receives medical support in state or crosses a state line.

State Makes Itself a Haven on Abortion, Trans Care
Colorado enacts laws protecting health care access
It blocks court summons, subpoenas, and search warrants from states that decide to prosecute someone for having an abortion. And it extends those protections to transgender patients dodging restrictions in their own states.

Villainous Creativity

Daphne Xu's picture

For the past two decades, this is what the world's been about: "Nyeah-nyeah, look at what we can do and you can't do a damn thing about it." If the anti-abortion or anti-trans folk get this idea, it won't be from reading this comment, so I don't feel a shred of guilt or shame in presenting this as a possible tactic.

Unless the person goes out of state purely on his own for abortion or transgender care, it becomes in-state conspiracy to commit a crime. Then under the fugitive-from-justice paragraph of the US Constitution, the person can be forcibly returned to the state for prosecution for the conspiracy.

Trans problems in OK

Blame it on the voters who voted those clowns into office.

You only get the government you vote for after all.

Oregon has been at a minimum of trans tollerent.

Patricia Marie Allen's picture

I've live in Oregon since I was five years old. (I was born here and moved to Kansas when I was three and came back when I was five). I've known I was something other that "normal" since I was eight. Transgender didn't exist back then. I've been going out in public as me for the last twenty-five years or so. (I was in my late 20s) While I've seen some smart remarks come my way early on, there has been no official action.

I've been stopped by the police once while driving en femme and once while out for a walk. The traffic stop was legitimate I had a headlight burn out on the way home and was stopped less than a mile from home. The stop while walking was just the cop wanting to confirm I was a man in a dress. Both times I presented my male ID. The traffic stop resulted in a verbal warning to get the light fixed, and the other the cop advised me not to go into any bars and then in a round about way told me to not appear in a dress on his beat.

Seeking Patient Doctor Records Just Because

BarbieLee's picture

Missouri State Attorney is seeking a wide scope of medical records without any proof of wrong doing or request from any patients. He wants a list of hormone related prescriptions given to patients. I think that's against the law unless the patient gives permission to release his or her medical records.

It's at times like this I wish I was in those states going insane over finding transgender patients. Wait, I am, Oklahoma. I'm taking hormones, blockers, and present as female. I also use women's bathrooms when I'm wearing skirts, dresses, makeup, jewelry. That too is illegal. If they want a commotion and a scene I could use the men's. Ever ask yourself how something like that would come out? Every State and Federal ID I carry (six) show I'm female. Imagine I get hauled off and tossed in the men's lockup because? Could I pull off a Mae West? When I'm bad I'm good. When I'm really bad, I'm even better.
Come on people, if we don't laugh at the insanity, we'll most certainly become insane ourselves.

States Prtect Gender Care

New Mexico recently signed abortion protections that shield those who get abortions or gender-related treatments -- and those who assist them -- from interstate investigations.
