Hi everyone,

This is just a quick update on my stories. Sadly, I must inform you all that there will be a longer delay in the postings of the Elven Question, and The Black Sword. Not to mention any other story that I have written. When I arrived home this morning I found that my home had been broken into, and several items were stolen. Chief among those items were computers, TVs, and other electronic items. One of those items was the external hard drive that held all of my stories and the notes those stories. Until I can replace my computers and hard drive I will not be posting any stories.

To the individual who broke into my home. I have only one thing to say. Pray to the Goddess for mercy and that I never find you. Because SHE may forgive your transgressions but I will not. I am an unforgiving Witch from the Old Country.

Your Humble Outlaw,
Jessie Wolf

Back ups for stories.

Sadly the back up hard drive that stored my notes and stories was among the items stolen.

Encrypted? No "cloud"

Encrypted? No "cloud" backups?

For what it's worth, I do try to periodically make a backup and put it significantly separated from everything else. Usually at someone else's house :)

Anyone breaking into my house will kill themselves before they can steal much. (tripping, falling, stabbing hazard, even before reaching me and my 2nd Amendment.)

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

Normally someone breaking into my home would have a much rougher time. First they have to get by the 8 American Foxhounds and 4 Great Danes. Unfortuniately l had placed the dogs with a kennel as I was going to be out of town longer then 3 days. Next if they survived the dogs they have to deal with the usual tripping, falling, stabbing hazards. Before for finally facing me, my husband, and our 2nd Amendments. Which when you consider the fact that we're both US veterans and hunters trained to use firearms. make us most thieves worse nightmares.

Which means that the thieves

Which means that the thieves are local, and they either know you, or have connections with those near you (like the kennel operators)

I have to agree with Bibliophage.

With your description of your home situation it is highly unlikely that this was a random 'lucky hit'. You were watched and/or setup by someone who knew your comings and goings. That means local knowledge and connections. Someone close* to you knows something important in regards to the crime.

* Close as in has either direct, or one step away from direct, contact with you personally.

I think I have many of your

I think I have many of your stories stored on my phone (in PDF only). If that helps, let me know where I can upload the stuff for you.

an area to check

Be sure to check pawnshops for some possible item locations.

The detective in charge of investigation

The detective in charge of the investigation informed me that all of the local pawnshops would receive a list of the items stolen from my home. But with a large tourist element in the area the chances of actually recovering the stolen items in a local pawnshop are slim to none.

So Sorry

So sorry to hear this! I've had my house broken into before and it sucks way beyond the items you lose! The loss of the sense of security was probably worse than the things that were stolen. Hang in there, and we will all understand a long break for a reason there. [Big Hug]

So Sorry

I’m really sorry to hear that hopefully the police recover your things.

hugs :)
