bombs bursting in air... yeah, this is actually going on over my head as I write this - no, I'm not in a war zone, it's neighboring B***** College setting off a fireworks display to honor the graduating seniors. I've just reached a rather momentous decision in my life, which is why I've been rather distracted, lying rather low lately (is that a tongue twister?), trying to figure things out. I've just decided to take a new teaching position in the Middle East, so I kinda feel like these fireworks are my send-off. I've never been to that part of the world, so this is going to be very interesting, to say the least.

I've been running around, selling or arranging to sell most of what I own, since it's not enough to pay for storage, and getting my checklist o' things ta do straight. I'll be doing my best to stay in touch with the Bigcloset crowd, and I do hope to finish and post stories that I am working on, but it might take a while.

If anyone knows something about the situation in the Middle East in regards to LGBT issues, not just rumor and/or innuendo, please feel free to clue me in either here or by a private message.

Yes, I do know that the 'Middle East' is a rather vague description, but at this point I don't want to be more specific, as you might well understand....

(This must be some kind of record, two posts in how long, a matter of days?)

I wish you the very best of luck

in your teaching endeavors. Your stories are very good, but they'll wait until you can get back to them. Concentrate on getting settled in and getting used to a whole new culture.

Congratulations and good luck huggles from,

Middle East

Keep your head down and watch your back. No matter where you are over there, many people don't like infidels in their midst, and they enforce a lot of laws that are very different to what we are familiar with. If you are taking a laptop with you or if you have access, I have a ton of books I could send you to keep you busy in between times.

Rush?

I thought the title of this blog entry was familiar - it reminded me of Rush & "Between The Wheels"...

We can go from boom to bust
From dreams to a bowl of dust
We can fall from rockets' red glare
Down to "Brother can you spare ---"
Another war --- another waste land ---
And another lost generation...

rather scary lyrics given the region you are going to!

I hope that's just and coincidence and wish you all the best in your new job and location.
