Anything by Tanya Allan

There are other wonderful authors and stories but Tanya is a good place to start.

Sarah Ann

I strongly recommend Tanya

I strongly recommend Tanya Allan's books. She doesn't do too many fantasy books but she has several action sci-fi books. Whispers in the Mind and Whispers in the Soul are too good ones worth reading, they are action sci-fi.

I'm told STFU more times in a day than most people get told in a lifetime

Anything by Sleethr

She of the Jade Skirt is non-stop action thriller with a fantasy element. Whisper is just brilliant, set in the Whateley Acadamy universe. Morpheus has a lot of magic and fantasy and sci-fi and other things. Julie O has some fantasy elements although set in a world very similar tot he real world - try Turbulence as a place to start.

Here's a few ideas!

Paula Dillon's "Shimmy" series. PoetHeather's "Sorority Boy" series, Katie Leone's stories are another great read here at BC. Another author who's work I like over at Fictionmania is Malissa Madison, as she has a nice sci-fi series over there. I said those in addition to the other authors mentioned by the others mentioned as I'd hate to slight ANY of the fine authors here at Big Closet!

The great authors are too many to begin listing

Some of the finest writing I have come across is here on BC. Many of the authors are better writers than any listed on the NY Best Sellers list. It is a dis service to list only one as there are so many. I strongly suggest you dip your toe into the writer pool and start reading.
I'm going to name Morpheus as a start and begin with Among Val Kyr to wet your appetite. http://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/fiction/52641/among-val-kyr-pa...
If you want to read some of the softest writing skills among all these great authors, give Maggie Finson a read. Her Fey series is exquisite. You will find her postings on crystalhall.org/maggief.html and on BC
This is not to slight any of the authors here on BC, Crystal's Story Site, Fiction Mania or any of the other story sites. There are so many who are better than just good writers and an unbelievable pool of writing talent.
Please if you aren't named, the list would take me months (years) to compile.

reading.

As stated earlier, there are a lot of good authors out there, and mentioning one or a few is not fair and someone will be accidentally left out. You might try Brandy. Some people dumped on her a few years back, so she will not post anything on any site but her iwn since. You will find some posted before it happened. Anything after is on her site. It has been a while since she has updated, but they are still excellent. try.... http://www.reocities.com/b_dewinter/ http://www.reocities.com/b_dewinter/hotter3.html http://www.reocities.com/brandy_art/ http://www.reocities.com/b_dewinter/nicer3.html http://www.reocities.com/b_dewinter/crossroad.html http://www.tigger-n-brandy.net/brandy-index.html I highly recommend Weapons of Mass Distraction written with PJ Wright, also Xora, Smite, and Lucky, Synaptic Overload, and others. Definitely read Solace, and then just start picking. Also try Care Givers, Heaven and Hell, Erinyes, Merlin High, Shadow Run stories, and Don't miss Jenny Walker's Breaking Cover. You might have to purchase this one, but it is so worth it.

Genomorph

By Scott Ramsey. Action/Adventure, and a good sized writing. Definitely not a short story.

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

The Bestest, IMHO

This will keep you glued in your seat, you'll want to devour the whole thing in one sitting. But take some friendly advice and slow your reading down so you can appreciate the fine nuances woven into the tale. Ramsey went so far as to use publicly available sat photos while plotting the story. For instance, in a scene set on a university campus you can go there and identify the individual trees used in the story, unless they got removed since the story was posted.

I went outside once. The graphics weren' that great.

These are my classics

Some are on BC, some are on Sapphiresplace. My faves are-A glass half full- Kristin Darken, No obligations- Randalynn, Legacy of the Anari-Ashley Blayze, Almost anything by Tanya Allen and BekDcobin, Five Hertz-Meps, Zapped by Bob Arnold, Born to race and Before my time by Bob Arnold, Hypatia's stories especially Fistfull of Dragons. First among fools & After the ashes by Renae. Oh and Legacy of the Teg by Pru Walker. The changeling chronicles by Morpheus

Oh

And that Bree Ramsey one-the female of the species. Top notch

Two more to add

Deception of Choice by Fleury because my transition felt like sinister brainwashing. It was quite deep. Warrior of Batuk by Aardvark because I like strong female protagonists, and at the time I was exploring BDSM, but those in the scene were not drawn to me.

Didn't See...

Grover's End of the World on the long list of stories mentioned here. It ought to be.
