You are definitely not the only one with this problem. I and at least a couple of my girlfriends are having the same difficulty.

To Get In...

...using Firefox on a 2012 MacBook, I have to use a "side door" and access the site by going to an inside page, like https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/stories (or .../authors, or .../messages). Piper knows about the problem but hasn't fixed it yet.

(My old version of Safari (2020) does get me onto the home page.)

Using Chrome, I enter the site using bigclosetr.us/topshelf/, and sign-in without a problem Although the login isn't sticky, i.e. I have to login every time I visit.

Maybe not logged out

I have noticed recently that it could be just the home page.

If I go there from another page it tells me I'm not logged in but, when I click on a story, that page tells me I am logged in!

It seems to me that it might be just the home page not following the rules.

I have noticed that the site is gradually returning to the way it was before the interruption. One obvious (to me) problem is the CSS which is not putting sections in their previous places.

Only One Page...

tmf's picture

Until this morning, there was only one page that mark me as un-logged, and that was the main page (https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/). Now that seem to be okay to.
Thanks Erin, Piper and all the others for the monumental work done to have this place and keep it running.
Thanks to all the authors and readers too.
Thanks to all the contributors.

W7 Chrome
The Home button at the top or in my Navigation field both take me to the alternate "logged out" front page.

Edit - some of the stories from the front page also show a login indicator at the top of the page, and some do not. I'll collect a few, hope this helps.

Caching problem?

Not a "clear your browser" one to fix, I think.

I have noticed that whenever I go to the Home page, it appears real quick, whereas other pages take a while - probably because the site isn't using all the available resources yet.

That real quick suggests that it is being pulled out of cache and sent rather than being bult the same way all the others are. Whether that is something server related or Cloudflare I could not speculate. Unfortunately, what it is pulling is the wrong one. Maybe a date/time stamp isn't being checked?
