The reason for the season………

My wife and I had a nice dinner out this evening - December 25th is my youngest son’s fiancés birthday, so we all got together and surprised her with a dinner for her birthday at a nice local brew pub, Hank Hudson’s. We finally got to meet her parents (a very, very nice couple), and had a truly wonderful time. After, the two of us stopped and got a coffee, and then took a nice ride to look at all of the Christmas decorations - an annual tradition for us.

Without meaning to brag, the people at our house did a really spectacular job, lol.

Anyway, when we got home my wife wanted to watch an old recording of Perry Como’s Christmas Special - something she used to watch every year with her parents. When that was over I broke out my recording of the Muppet Family Christmas, which I always watched with my sons for years when they were younger.

One of the songs from the show always reminds me of the real reason for the season:

When it's nice and bright,
And it brings delight,
Let your heart choose right,
Gotta, pass it on.

When you're giving love away,
Love will come again to stay.
What you give is what you gain,
When you pass it on.

So remember, what you give is what you gain.

Merry Christmas to all of those here who have meant so much to me over the years.

Such a wonderful story. Whenever I read one of your comments and blog posts, I think, “gee, Dallas should really write something for our
2024 New Year’s Writing Contest!” :)

Warmest wishes to you, your wonderful wife, and your whole family, for a beautiful holiday season.

Lots of love,

Emma

All about giving

Patricia Marie Allen's picture

Christmas is all about giving. Not presents, but giving of ourselves. I'm about to get very politically incorrect, so if you're not a Christian, or at least tolerant of the rambling of those of us who are, you might want to scroll down to the next comment.

That very first Christmas was about giving. We commemorate that by giving of gifts to each other and acknowledging the "Gift" of that first Christmas.

Christmas is a time for family to draw close and bask in the warmth of the shared love.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight.

Hugs
Patricia
