Puberty Changed Everything

Part 1

My name is Nelson Greene, and up until my 15th birthday, I was a pretty typical teenage boy.

Then puberty changed everything.

I was a late bloomer, as they like to say, and was still waiting for manhood to arrive.

It sucked, especially the school I attended not only had junior high kids, but senior high students as well, so I really stuck out for my size and obvious lack of masculine characteristics.

I’m not saying I looked like a girl, but I definitely looked younger than I actually was.

Then, on my birthday, that changed.

I was in Gym class, when suddenly, I blacked out.

I woke up in the nurse’s office.

I called out, but no one seemed to be around, so I finally got up and went to the small washroom.

The person I saw in the mirror didn’t look at all like the one I had seen in my mirror at home that morning.

I now looked like a pretty girl - as long as your idea of “pretty” included red skin and horns growing out of her head.

I heard a noise close by, and went to investigate. It was the nurse, alongside Sarah who was a student who acted as an assistant trainer for the football team, and the two of them were helping Max, a member of said team, get on the bed.

Once they had him settled, the nurse and Sarah noticed me, and the nurse asked Sarah to escort me back to my own bed.

As she helped me, I asked, “why aren’t you freaking out about my appearance?”

“Well, why aren’t you freaking out? You’re the one who changed.”

Her question shocked me into realizing she was right. Despite the radical transformation I had undergone, I was remarkably calm.

“I honestly don’t know why I’m not freaking out. I’m not just a girl, I’m some kind of demon girl from the look of it.”

“Yeah, but as far as I can tell, you’re not giving off a “I want to eat your soul” vibe. In fact, you’re . . . kind of hot.”

As she said this, she hopped on the bed beside me, put an arm around me, turned my face toward her, and kissed me.

If you’d told me that morning I would get a kiss from Sarah, I would have said impossible. But since I already had something impossible happen - turning into some kind of demon girl - getting kissed seemed like a return to normal.

Then the lights in the nurse’s office went out, and any hope for “normal” had clearly left the building . . .

A small light entered the room, floated for a minute, and then grew in size and brightness.

As it grew it began to take a humanoid shape, and just when it was blinding to look at, it disappeared, and where the light had been there was a woman, and what’s more, she looked like an older version of the girl I had seen in the mirror.

“Come with me if you want to live,” she said, and then she giggled, adding “I’ve always wanted to say that.”

Sarah put herself between me and the woman, saying “She’s not going anywhere, not without me, and not without knowing what’s going on.”

The demon-woman looked at us both, shook her head, and muttered “Oh crap. Like this wasn’t complicated enough.”

She took a breath, and then said to me, “Look. I was able to put a glamour on you, so your classmates didn’t freak out and maybe try to burn you at the stake. But that’s going to end in less than a minute, and I’d like to get you somewhere safe before that happens.”

“If she goes, I go with her,” Sarah said defiantly.

The woman sighed, and said, “Yeah, I can see that. You two are bonded together magically, so there is no choice. Now, please, both of you. Before someone sees us as we are”

I looked at Sarah, shrugged, and said “Okay. But as soon as possible we want the full story.”

“I promise by my name, which is Aniki, I will tell you all I know once we are safe,” She replied, “Now, take my hands, both of you.”

We each took one of her hands, and left my school behind.

In the blink of an eye, we found ourselves elsewhere. In the back of my mind, I had half expected to be teleported to Hell itself, based on how the woman and I look. But fortunately, we were somewhere much more comfortable, a beautiful home in the middle of a meadow. I could hear a stream bubbling nearby, and birds sang from trees.

I looked at our host, and saw that Aniki seemed weakened and trembling.

“Give me a moment to replenish my energies” she wheezed, and staggered into the home’s kitchen.

Sarah and I sat down in a pair of chairs in the living room, and a few minutes later our host returned, holding a mug of something.

Aniki sat across from us, sipped from her mug, and then said, “my apologies. Taking both of you drained me.”

“Are you going to be alright?” I asked.

“I’ll recover,” She replied, "But I’m strong enough now to tell you what’s going on - or at least as much as I know.”

“We’re listening,” Sarah said.

“Many years ago, a member of my race, which humans call Tieflings.” Aniki began, “went to the world of humans, met a woman, and bonded with her.”

She sighed, and then said, “there are songs, and plays, and stories about their bond, the first time in our history one of the Tieflings had bonded with a human. Then something even more remarkable happened - the woman became pregnant.”

She paused, and took another sip from her mug, and then continued, “Their child appeared to take after her mother, with no signs of having any Tiefling blood. But the two realized appearances can be deceiving, and went to a mystic with the child. They were told that the Tiefling blood would remain dormant, until the right child was born. That child would be both human and Tiefling, and both male and female. That child was you.”

“If you’re about to tell me I’m some kind of chosen one, I’m going to scream” I stated.

“No,” she responded, “you have no specific destiny, or at least as far as we know. You’re more like the first robin of springtime. By itself, not vital, but a sign of changes to come.”

“What kind of changes?” Sarah asked.

“We . . . don’t know.” Aniki answered.

“Just great,” I said, “sounds like we’re going to have interesting times.”

“That seems very likely,” Aniki replied.

“Peachy” Sarah and I said together.

Puberty Changed Everything - Part 2

Author’s Note: You should probably read part 1 first

We sat in silence for a moment, and then Aniki said, “Come, the two of you must be hungry.”

Hand in hand, Sarah and I followed her into the kitchen. Like the living room, it was bright and cheerful, and had a round table with four chairs, and she gestured to us to sit.

She went over to the stove, and pulled out an enormous pot out of the oven. It seemed far too big, but she carried it easily over to the table.

She then gave each of us a bowl and spoon, and used a large ladle to fill our bowl with the stuff from the pot.

“This is called ‘Brodetto’. The fish is from my own stream, and all the other ingredients come from my own garden” She stated with pride.

The stew tasted amazing, and I ended up having seconds.

Afterward, Aniki gave each of us a delicious honey cake, and then had us return to the living room while she got a musical instrument from her bedroom.

The instrument seemed like someone tried to put an entire orchestra into one object - until Aniki sang, and it shifted form until it resembled a lyre. She also removed a small cube and put it on the table, as she began to strum the lyre.

As she sang, the cube began showing images, and soon I realized she must be singing about bonding, comparing what happened to the first Tiefling to bond with a human and the situation Sarah and I were in.

Finally, she finished singing, and said, “Well, that was the story of your ancestor, told in song. Whether there will be songs about the two of you, only time will tell.”

“Speaking of which,” She continued, “You two should take some time to learn about your bond. Go for a walk around the grounds, it's all safe, so you can relax, and talk.”

That sounded like a good idea to me, and Sarah agreed, so hand in hand we walked out of the home and began to explore the area. As we walked, we shared our stories with each other.

It was an amazingly intimate experience, despite the fact we didn’t do anything physically beyond holding hands.

Not to say I wasn’t looking forward to exploring her body as I was at that moment exploring her mind and heart, but I felt like any physical things we did would be just the cream on top of a delicious cake.

We got a little tired from walking, but fortunately there were benches throughout the property, so we sat for a while, and then we got a visitor.

The creature looked like a cross between a deer and an insect. It had six legs, and compound eyes, but had brown hair, and twitching ears.

Sarah had picked a flower just before we had sat down, and the creature cautiously approached to smell it.

“I think it wants your flower,” I said to Sarah.

Sarah shrugged, and held it out.

The creature opened its mouth, wrapped a long tongue around the flower, and swallowed it.

It stood there for a moment, chewing, and then seemed to make a decision. Its legs steaded, it stopped trembling, and seemed to almost bow, and then trotted off into the woods.

We sat there for a moment longer, and then Sarah said “We’ve been out here for hours. Look, the sun is going down”

“We should get back inside, then,” I said, and we started walking back to the house.

Finally, we made our way back, and Aniki met us, saying,”I’m glad you guys are back. I found something interesting”
