Triple D Steak House, Cave Spring, Virginia:
Jessie, Cassady, Debbie, Angela, and Juni couldn’t believe they had gotten a call from Leon and asked to meet him at Triple D Steak House. When they arrived, they were escorted to a private section, where Leon was waiting for them. He wasn’t by himself, either. Standing next to him was a young woman around their age. She was dressed in a nice business suit.
“Ladies, it’s so good to see you in person. Please have a seat.” A huge smile appears on his face.
Jessie looks at Leon as she sits down “what have you gotten us into now, Leon?”
“You’ll like the news I have for your group, Jessie.” He watches as everyone sits down at the table.
Leon and Cynthia sit down after everyone else. A young Asian woman comes over and takes their drink order while she passes out menus to everyone. Cynthia looks at everyone as they browse through the menu.
Cassady already knew what she wanted. She has been here before on a date. She knew the food was good and expensive.
Jessie looks towards Leon “all right, Leon. What gives?”
“I was going to wait until after we ate, but since you are suspicious about my motives. Let me lay your worries to rest. First, I want to introduce you to your new road manager, Cynthia DeVeau. She’s going to be traveling with you in the following weeks.”
“What do you mean in the following weeks?” Jessie was curious.
“What I mean, Jessie. I have a bunch of gigs lined up for your group. The first venue you ladies will be playing in is Windsor, Va. It’s at Heritage Park & Joel C. Bradshaw Fairgrounds. After that, you’ll be heading towards Lexington, Va. Then you’ll be heading towards Maryland, where you are booked for two gigs. Afterward, you’ll be heading north to Pennsylvania and south towards North Carolina and South Carolina.”
“How long are we going to be on the road?” Cassady was curious.
“About five months. Afterward, you’ll head to Fort Worth, Texas, for the finals.” Leon had worked out a deal with the entertainment division of the PRCA Association.
“Will we have gigs in between each event?” Jessie wanted to know.
“Yes, there will be smaller gigs in between the rodeo events. I’m in the process of getting you a gig in Washington, D.C., at a popular Country Western bar.”
“When do we start this tour?” Jessie had to admit Leon had come through for them now that they were a country music band.
“In two weeks. Your first venue is Windsor, Va. Cynthia here will handle all your road duties and hotel arrangements.”
“Does this mean we’ll get roadies to handle all our equipment?” Juni was curious.
“Yes, their names are Rick Owen and Marty Kason. They have several years of experience under their belts. So, you ladies have nothing to worry about with your instruments or gear. They will act as your security as well.” Cynthia figures that they might need it with all the rodeos the girls will be visiting.
“That doesn’t give us much time to get everything arranged.” Juni had an apartment she rented.
“I brought paperwork for all of you to fill out, so I can set up direct deposit of your pay into your account. That way, you can easily transfer the money from your account for any bills since I will be traveling with you. I can advance some of your pay to you. I’ll subtract it from the money you will be making.” Cynthia knew the girls might want to buy things either for their gigs or supplies for their instruments.
Jessie looked at everyone to see what they thought. They had done well at the one country western bar they played at. The crowd there loved them. Since that day, they have been writing new material to call their own and getting permission to play certain songs.
Their waitress showed up with their drinks and took their orders. Once she was done, Cynthia passed out all the paperwork the girls would need to complete to have their pay deposited into their accounts. She also passes out the paperwork for the medical policy Leon had gotten for them. It wasn’t the best policy, but it was within their price range. It covered their essential services and annual checkups.
“I’ll send you the time and date you need to be at the practice office to load up. Remember, you’ll be gone for four to five months, so bring everything you need. Also, you ladies might want to think about coordinated outfits on stage.”
“What’s the weather like where we are playing?” Cassady was curious about how she should dress.
“Plan on dressing for cool and warm weather. Most of the time, you’ll be playing inside an arena, but there will be outside venues you’ll be playing at.”
“I know the perfect outfit for you, cousin.” Jessie looks at Cassady with a smirk on her face.
“I don’t know about you girls, but I have the perfect outfit.” Juni had a nice western outfit she planned on wearing.
After lunch, everyone leaves the restaurant and goes their separate ways. Cassady knew she needed to speak to her neighbors across from her.
Hopefully, they won’t mind looking after her place while she is on tour. She should look into how much a house sitter is when she is gone like this.
Since she was the group’s drummer, she needed to stop and see what outfits would be appropriate. She was thinking maybe wearing a farmer’s bib with a white t-shirt or one of their t-shirts under the shoulder straps. Maybe, put her hair into pigtails and wear a baseball cap. She’ll have to see how the outfit look.
Cassady stops at a store that sells western country wear. She knew she’d need a pair of cowboy boots and ankle boots. She finds several pairs of boots in her size and tries them on. The first pair fit her snuggly, but she knew she’d have to break them in. The second pair was too tight for her feet. The third pair fit her pretty well. She sets them aside and looks at the ankle-style boots.
By the time she leaves the store, she has boughten several pairs of boots and ankle boots. She also bought several pairs of jeans, shorts, blouses, and other items. She made sure to buy several pairs of farmer overalls to play in. She could wear a t-shirt or a muscle shirt to cover her bra and breasts.
She didn’t have any suitcases or a makeup bag. She stops and buys a nice set. Good thing the stocks she had in the auto parts place she used to work at had gone up since she bought them. She sold most of them when she left the company. It wasn’t like she had a choice in the matter.
When she came in the Monday of the following week, her boss called her to the back and fired her. He said a customer had complained about her attitude and how she told him where he could shove his rachet. She tried to tell her manager what had happened, but he wouldn’t listen. She knew he had a problem with her being transgender. Plus, he didn’t like that she knew more about cars than most men and women who came into the store.
Most of the men who entered the store didn’t like that she knew more than they did. It bruised their ego that a girl knew more about cars than they knew. She hated playing like she didn’t know anything to please them. So, the customer complained about her. She told them what they could do with their rachet and wrench.
Luckily for her, The Angels were making a name for themselves after playing county music at that one gig. They were asked to come back and hired by another country western bar. The group was hired to play at several parties and a few weddings.
Jessie continues shopping for what she’ll need to take for the gigs.
Day Of Departure:
“Whose idea was it for us to be here at four in the morning?” Cassady had ridden in with her cousin.
“Don’t complain too loudly, Cassady.” Juni was unloading her bags from the back of her boyfriend’s pickup truck.
“Where are our driver and roadie?” Jessie was looking around for the two guys that were traveling with them.
“Right here, ladies.” Rick and Marty come walking toward the group.
Rick was completely bald and had tattoos on both arms. His right shoulder was covered entirely. He looked like he worked out a lot and appeared old enough to be their father.
On the other hand, Marty was dressed all in black and wore a black cowboy hat. He looked like he used to spend time outdoors. His face had a weathered look to it. He was also very observant as well.
Marty looks at the young woman standing beside the tour bus. He has heard some good things about them and watched some of their YouTube videos. He noticed the one named Juni kiss her boyfriend goodbye. The other ladies were still unloading their equipment and clothes.
He spotted the road manager and smiled as he recognized who it was. He walks over to Cynthia “long time no see.”
Cynthia was unloading her stuff from the back of her SUV when she heard a familiar voice. She turned around and couldn’t believe it was Marty.
“It’s good to see you again, Marty.” Cynthia walks over and hugs Marty.
“And you.” Marty returns the hug.
“I thought you were traveling with Wild Streak as their roadie?” Cynthia didn’t think that the Marty she knew would be the one traveling with them.
“I did until we got to New York. The group had a major falling out.” Marty couldn’t believe certain group members were smuggling drugs for their supplier.
“Well, I’m glad you are traveling with us, and I love your outfit. You remind me of a young Johnny Cash.”
“I’ve always been a country music lover. I prefer the older generation of country singers, but some newer artists are growing on me. So, you will be the road manager on this trip?”
“Yep, this will be the fourth group I’ve managed.” The first two bands she managed did pretty well. The third one, the guys she was managing, just wanted to party too much.
“Well, it will be nice working with you again.” Marty liked working with Cynthia.
“And you.”
Jessie, Cassady, Debbie, Angela, and Juni board the tour bus and look around. They noticed that there were enough bunks for twelve people to sleep in. There was a small kitchen and a small bathroom.
“Man, this bathroom is small.” Debbie couldn’t believe how big it was.
“Good thing none of us are huge.” Jessie had come over to look at the bathroom. It had a shower that wasn’t very big.
“Hey, we have a lounge area at the end of the bus.” Angela returned to the back of the bus and found the lounge area.
The lounge area had a sofa section all around the bus’s end. There was a skylight to let in some sunshine.
“At least we can come back here and relax.” Jessie had moved from inspecting the bathroom to the back of the bus.
“You know, there is one problem.” Juni looks at her bandmates.
“What is it, Juni?” Cassady looks at Juni for an answer to her question.
“There’s not much room for us to change and prepare for our show. Sure, there might be dressing rooms for us, or there might not be.”
“That is true, but you ladies must work out everything.” Cynthia looks at all the Angels.
“We’ll figure something out. If nothing else, we can get ready back here.” Juni figures they could all do their makeup back in the lounge area.
They could set up a table or something.
“True. So, how long is the drive to the fairgrounds?” Cassady turns to look at Cynthia.
“Four hours, and I suggest you use that time to go through your songs to play for an hour gig.” Cynthia was informed that they were first up.
“Only an hour gig?” Both Debbie and Jessie were disappointed.
“Look, you guys are the opening act for Luke Bryant and Little Big Town.” Cynthia knew there was one more group but couldn’t remember who they were.
“We’re opening up for Luke Bryant and Little Big Town?” All the girls look at Cynthia when they hear whom they are opening for.
“Yes.” Cynthia knew Luke was a judge on American Idol along with Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.
“Oh, man. We better be good for him and Little Big Town.” Angela loved Little Big Town songs.
“Well, you girls have VIP passes. So, you’ll be able to visit them. Also, the rodeo’s sponsors have asked if some of you would be willing to judge some of the contests they are putting on.”
“Sure, it would be fun.” Jessie has been a judge before.
“What type of contest are we judging?” Cassady looks at Cynthia with a suspicious look on her face.
“Well, since I didn’t volunteer any of you for anything. I’ll let you choose for yourself.” Cynthia looks at her tablet.
“Up! Oh! We’re in trouble.” Debbie knew this trip was going to be trouble.
“Here are your choices. Chili cookoff, Pie contest, Barbecue cookoff, and Animal judging contest.” Cynthia looks at the girls.
“I’ll volunteer for the Chili contest. Hot stuff doesn’t bother me.” Juni loved hot stuff.
“I’ll take the pie contest.” Cassady figures she would give that a try.
“That leaves, Barbecue and Animal judging.” Cynthia looks at Debbie, Angela, and Jessie.
“That leaves one of us free.” Angela figures she could help out the vendors.
“I’ll take the barbecue contest.” Debbie figures she could do that.
“What the hell? I’ll do the animal contest.” Jessie figures she could pick out a cute animal.
“You girls better get seated. We’re moving out.” Rick calls back to the girls.
“Thanks, Rick.” Cynthia leads the way toward the front of the bus.
“I’m taking a top bunk.” Debbie climbs into one of the top bunks and sets it up for herself.
“Fine with me. I’ll take a middle bunk.” Cassady starts making her bunk.
The three girls walk up to where Cynthia is and sits down. They sit down on the sofa section. Jessie looks toward Cynthia “do we have internet access?”
“Yes, and satellite access as well. You can keep up with your favorite stories/shows. However, I recommend you guys choose your song lineup
before we arrive.” Cynthia looks at Angela since she is the lead singer and one of the owners of the band.
“I nominate our version of Moonshine.” Cassady liked the way they rewrote Ray Stevens’s song Moonshine.
“Yeah, we can also do Looking for a decent cowboy afterward.”
“Don’t forget I’m a sexy cowgirl.” Angela liked that song a lot.
“Or weed and whiskey, either.” Juni liked that song.
“I think you ladies have everything worked out.” Cynthia sits back on the sofa and answers some emails.
The ride to the fairgrounds could have been more uneventful. The girls were practicing some moves in the back of the tour bus. Cassady was reading about the pie contest rules online, that the contest sponsor posted. The rules and regulations each contestant had to follow.
Angela makes a few suggestions to Cassady about the tempo of their Moonshine song. She wanted to drop the rhythm some, making it sound slower.
“I like that idea. It will make it seem I’m drinking some.” Cassady knew they used water in their mason jar props for the song.
“I thought you might like it. Have you decided what you are going to wear at the fairgrounds?”
“Not yet. I considered wearing jeans, a nice western shirt, and cowboy boots.” Cassady knew she needed to update her wardrobe.
“That sounds nice.” Angela didn’t know much about Cassady and wanted to learn more about her.
Cassady had bailed them out when their manager screwed their gig up. They usually played 80’s rock-style music, but he had gotten them a country gig. If Cassady hadn’t taught them some popular country music songs, they would have been booed right off the stage.
As it turned out, since they played country music so well. They have been getting more and more gigs from country western bars and venues. They still play a few rock songs but were better known as a country western band.
It seemed that there weren’t many girl groups playing instruments in the country western scene. Since they were a band, it was even rarer. So, here they were, playing country music for a living.
When the girls arrived at the fairgrounds, they were dropped off. So they could check in with the different events they would be judging. Cynthia had already gotten them their backstage passes and fairground passes.
“All right, ladies, go and have some fun. Remember, you must be at the arena and ready by seven o’clock.” Cynthia hopes the girls remember they were on first.
“The Arena?” Debbi looks at Cynthia for clarification.
“Yep, the arena. You girls are playing out in the arena. The fairgrounds crew will have everything set up for you ladies.” A smile appears on
Cynthia’s face. A considerable crowd would surround the girls.
“There go my new boots.” Juni looks down at her boots.
“You’ll be able to get new boots later, Juni.” Jessie looks at her friend.
The girls go off to check in with the different events they volunteer for. Debbi checked in with the other two judges that were judging the barbecue. Greg Nagan and Mike Bourdage were the other two judges she was judging with. She recognized each man from the outdoor Barbecue magazine her friend got. He was into barbecue and wanted to be like these men.
“Hello, gentlemen. I’m Debbi Winslow with The Angels.” Debbi smiles at both men.
“Hi, I’m Greg Nagan, and this old man next to me is Mike Bourdage.” Greg shakes Debbi’s hand first, followed by Mike.
“It’s nice to meet you guys.” Debbi shakes each man’s hand.
“Is this your first time judging a barbecue contest?” Mike looks at Debbi’s sweet innocent-looking face.
“Yes, sir, it is. The event organizers asked if I would like to be a judge.” Debbi watches each man’s facial expression.
“Well, you have the best teachers here who can explain everything. Why don’t we go into the camper, and we’ll explain everything to you?”
“Okay.” Debbi follows the two men into a camper for them.
Chili Judging Station:
Juni walks over to where the chili contest is taking place. She notices the contestants arriving and setting up their grills and such. She noticed several people had vast amounts of awards for the best chili. She walks over to a young woman at the judging table “excuse me, but I’m looking for whoever is in charge here.”
Carolyn turns around and spots a young Asian woman dressed in western clothing, wearing a nice black hat with silver stitching and feathers. It looked like it was custom-made for the woman.
“I’m one of the judges for this event. How can I help you, ma’am?” Carolyn couldn’t believe how beautiful the woman standing before her was.
Juni noticed the young woman standing before her with shoulder-length chestnut color hair looked. She had sparkling freckles that dotted her face. She also had a country accent to her speech as well. She noticed the young woman was wearing traditional western wear, just like she was.
“Hi, I’m Juni Kumar, a member of The Angels. I was asked to report over here to judge some chili.” A smile appeared on Juni’s face as she held
her hand out to the young woman.
“Carolyn Mercer, I’m the organizer for this event. I was just informed a few minutes ago that you were coming.” Carolyn shakes Juni’s held-out hand. She noticed the young woman had an excellent grip.
“I’ll be honest with you. I haven’t judged a chili contest before. All of this is new to me.” Juni thought she should be honest with Carolyn.
“Oh, it’s easy. Just choose which one you like a lot. I will warn you, some of these chilies can be a little hot.”
“I love hot, spicy foods.” A playful smile appears on Juni’s face.
“Trust, some of these chili makers can spice their chili up.”
Juni gives Carolyn a look. Let’s see how hot and spicy they can go. She didn’t mind, “I’m up to a challenge.”
“All right, you’ve been warned. Let me introduce you to the three other judges.” Carolyn escorts Juni over to the other judges.
The girls tend to their respective contests and such throughout the day. Jessie and Cassady met up to have funnel cakes and corn dogs for lunch. Juni joins them after the chili contest, sweating and drinking buttermilk from a large cup.
“I am not going to do that again.” Juni was still recovering from the last chili she tried.
“What happened, Juni?” Debbi comes walking over to everyone with a basket in her hands.
“One of the contestants used Carolina Reaper and Trinidad Moruga Scorpion peppers in their chili and didn’t warn us. I took one bite of that chili, and it nearly killed me. The judge next to me started screaming from taking just one bite.”
“You’re the one that said hot and spicy stuff doesn’t bother you.” Debbi loved teasing Juni.
“Normally, they don’t. I can eat Thai chili peppers without any problems. However, Ghost and Scorpion peppers are in a class of their own.”
“Will you be able to sing tonight?” Angela comes walking over to her group.
“Yeah, but I will be hurting tonight when I go to the bathroom.” Juni drinks some more buttermilk to cool her throat.
“I know that feeling.” Cassady experienced that feeling before. She ate a bunch of hot wings a friend bought her and didn’t tell her they were spicy.
“Well, I brought us some barbecue the contestants made. I have to say that the winner did real good for a first-timer.”
“How many contestants did you have?” Angela was curious.
“Close to one hundred contestants, then we chose the five best and judged them.” Debbi enjoyed judging the barbecue contest.
“I bet none of them used Ghost peppers on their barbecue.” Juni takes another sip of her buttermilk.
“Nope.” Debbi had a smirk on her face.
“Well, we better get ready to perform.” Jessie looks at her bandmates.
Angela looks at Jessie “you are a buzz killer, you know that?”
“Hey, we have two big stars we have to impress tonight. I want to go out and do our best.” Jessie was a little worried about their performance.
“We will knock them dead tonight, cousin.” Cassady hugs her cousin.
Jessie looks at her cousin as they return to the bus to prepare for tonight’s performance.
Always Stay Down To Earth, Walter
I grew up overshadowed by lush lakes
Couldn't catch the eye of no city boy
Here I am devoted to Walter
How I love the way you look in your blue jeans
Can't believe I let the smog cloud my eye
Where the lush lakes stand
And the deep mountains surround
I'll ride my battered truck with you by my side
There's a whisper in the Tennessee breeze
Reminding me of Chris
That whisper builds
That whisper cries
Chris in the morning skies
You appear on the horizon
Brushing that straight hair from your eyes
The city folk with their fancy gadgets
Cement lakes like grey tombs
Don't have nothin' on our way of life
Just listen to the waves
Don't live your life like a fool
Today might feel a time to be like a fool
But that ain't no way to lead a life
You know, there's a lot I drive by in my battered truck
Folk who is messing up
Always stay down to earth, Walter
Always stay down to earth
In Tennessee, when I was a child
I met a down to earth man
"How can you be so down to earth?" asked I
Here was his wise reply
Don't live your life like a fool
Today might feel a time to be like a fool
But that ain't no way to lead a life
Met an old lady who lived like a fool
"What happened to her?" asked I
Here was his wise reprise
Don't live your life like a fool
Today might feel a time to be like a fool
But that ain't no way to lead a life
That lady's gone now
It's sad really
Word is, she had straight hair once
Little Walter, keep your jeans blue
Always stay down to earth, Walter
Always stay down to earth
Waves, waves, waves
Waves, waves, waves...
Angela and the girls listened to the applause as they finished the song. It was one of their new ones, and they tried hard to make it sound country. They couldn’t believe how well it sounded and that the audience loved it.
A huge smile appears on Angela’s face as she turns towards the girls and holds up three fingers. Cassady knew what song Angela wanted her to start tapping out. She starts playing their theme song on Wings Of An Angels.
Each of the girls had a part that they sang in the song when it came to Cassady’s part of the song. She played a high-energy drum solo. When she got close to the end of her solo, everyone jumped in and finished the song.
When they were finished, the audience greeted them with loud applause. The girls bow and wave to them as they leave the stage. As they are walking off, they run into Luke Bryant.
“Oh! My God!” All the girls stop and look at Mr. Bryant as he walks towards them.
A smile was on his face “how am I supposed to follow that?”
“Sorry about that, Mr. Bryant,” Angela spoke for the group.
“Please, call me Luke, and you young ladies have nothing to be sorry about. You, ladies, did a fathomable job. I hope you’re sticking around.”
Luke looks at the five young ladies.
“You bet we are.” Cassady wanted to hear Mr. Bryant play.
Luke smiles at them as he heads onto the stage to begin his set. All the girls watch him as he exists from where they are.
“Man, I never thought I would meet Mr. Bryant.” Juni loved country music.
“Well, let’s change and enjoy the show tonight.” Debbie leads the girls to the bus to change.
Cassady stumbles out of her bunk and walks into the small kitchen. She could hear the rain hitting the top of their tour bus and realized as she is fixing her coffee. That the tour bus wasn’t moving at all. She looks out of the nearest window and noticed they were stuck in traffic.
She walks towards the front of the tour bus and notices Marty was driving. She learned that Marty was an actual cowboy. He used to be a bull and bucking bronco rider, but had to give it up after barely surviving a life-threatening injury.
Cassady knew he still loved the rodeo, but couldn’t ride anymore in it. She sits down on the sofa near the door “hey Marty, what’s going on with traffic?”
“Morning Cassady, there’s a five-car accident ahead of us. Some stupid SUV driver thought he could move an eighteen-wheeler. Which in turn, caused several cars and a box truck to slam into them.” The tour bus had a police scanner and radar detector installed in it.
“I hope they survived.” Cassady knew an SUV wasn’t a match against an eighteen-wheeler.
“Me too. You girls did good at Bucking Joe’s last night.” Marty was surprised by the song the girls played.
“Thanks, Angela has been working on it for a while. It was supposed to be a rock song, according to her, but with some cord changes and a tempo change. We managed to turn it into a country rock song.”
“Do you mind if I ask you a personal question?” Marty has been curious about Cassady.
“No, go ahead.” Cassady takes a sip from her coffee.
“I don’t know how to ask you this, but before I took this gig. I asked around about you girls and learned that you haven’t always been a girl.”
“True, I was born a male, but mother nature made a mistake with me. At first, I thought I was gay, but after seeing a counselor about how I felt. I learned I wasn’t gay, but a female stuck in a body of a male.” Cassady knew there was more to her.
“How did your folks handle it?” Marty has never met a transgender person before.
“My father could handle the fact I was gay, but couldn’t handle the fact I was trans. It took my mother some time to adjust to the fact I was a girl. However, our relationship became stronger. She still mourned the boy I used to be, but loved that she has a daughter she could teach things to.” Cassady takes another sip from her coffee.
Marty inches forward as the traffic moves some. He could understand a parent's point of view. He has seen a few families torn apart by their child switching gender. It was more about how a father felt about his family carrying on.
Juni comes stumbling over to where Cassady was sitting with a juice bottle in her hand. She had gone to bed wearing a pale lace babydoll outfit. She was wearing a pair of thong panties that exposed her butt but covered her front.
You could see her favorite tattoo of a bearing wearing a top hat, an old-style tail jacket, and holding a walking cane. Underneath the bear, there was a saying “it’s all about the kitty.”
Cassady looks at Juni as she took a sip from her bottle of juice. She knew Juni was faithful to her boyfriend.
“You’re up early.”
“I couldn’t sleep anymore. Your cousin snores when she is drunk.” Juni was sleeping in a bunk across from Jessie.
“She did get hammer last night after we finished our gig.” Cassady knew her cousin only drank a lot when something was bothering her.
“Well, you need to talk to her, Cassady.” Juni liked Jessie a lot. They have been friends since college and since Angela put the band together.
“I’ll see what is bothering her.” Cassady owes her cousin a lot.
Juni looks out the window and saw that it was raining and they were stuck in traffic. They were heading towards their next rodeo gig. This time they were third in the lineup, instead of being the opening act.
They were following a country singer named Roger Cash. He was the grandson of the famous Johnny Cash. He even looked like his famous grandfather and had the same rough-sounding voice. There was another girl group that was going on before them. However, they didn’t play instruments but just sang. They were a local country girl group.
The other members of the Angels start waking up, including Cynthia who was in the lounge area of the bus on her cell phone. She had gone to bed wearing just a t-shirt and panties. Cassady waves her cousin over to her and pats the space next to her, on the sofa.
Jessie walks over with her coffee mug and sits down next to her cousin. She didn’t sleep well last night and had a hangover from hell. She leans her head against her cousin's shoulder and takes a sip from her coffee mug.
“What’s wrong, sweetie?” Cassady knew her cousin very well.
“You know that guy I have been dating?”
“Yeah, that young dentist you met on Love Hearts. Did he dump you?” Cassady knew her cousin liked that guy a lot.
Jessie nods her head, yes. She liked Harold Angle and was thinking about doing something special for him when they got back.
“Let me guess, he can’t deal with you being gone for the next five months.” Cassady knew a lot of guys couldn’t handle having a rock star for a girlfriend.
“Among other things. I heard from Kelly that he was seeing another girl behind my back, while I was gone.” Jessie couldn’t believe the two-timing jerk.
Cassady holds her cousin close to her body and reassures her cousin everything will be okay. She knew her cousin wanted to find someone who made me better and whose values matched hers. She also knew, her cousin was secretly jealous of the relationship Juni had with her boyfriend.
Cynthia tosses her cell phone onto a nearby lounge seat and tries to calm down. The booking agent she worked with, fucked up a gig she had approved. Now, she had to cancel it and get something to replace it or the girls would be sitting around for a week.
She picks up her cell phone and makes a few calls. She knew a country western bar that has been wanting a new group to play at its place. It was owned by an old friend of the family.
Cynthia sits down on the lounge seat and brings up the booking schedule on her tablet. She changes the dates while she talks on the cellphone.
“Hey girls, a truck shop is coming up. Do you want to grab some breakfast or keep going?” Marty looks at Angela since she was the leader of the group.
“Let’s stop and grab some breakfast.” Angela knew everyone did feel like cooking.
“Sounds good to me. I’ll let Cynthia know.” Rick heads towards the back of the bus and spots Cynthia on the phone.
Cynthia spotted Rick standing in the doorway “what’s up?”
“We’re stopping for breakfast and fuel. I thought you should know.”
“Okay. I join you guys in a few minutes.” Cynthia was on hold as she waited for Carol to get back to her.
“Okay.” Rick turns and heads back toward the front of the bus.
Virginia Horse Center, Lexington, Va.:
“Man, this place is unbelievable.” Debbie and Juni were loving the horse center.
“And the good thing about it is we don’t have to judge anything.” Angela was glad they didn’t have to do anything this time except sing.
Cassady and Jessie were standing next to each other and looking around. They spot a teenage girl dressed in western gear helping a bunch of other teenagers with a bunch of horses. Cassady and Jessie watch as the long, strawberry blond-haired girl leads several horses out of a horse trailer.
“I wonder who they are.” Jessie noticed that all the girls wore identical outfits.
“Performers?” Cassady spotted the name of the group on the side of the trailer.
“Oh?” Jessie looks at her cousin.
“They are called the Whiskey Angels.”
Cassady pulls her cell phone from her back pocket and googles the Whiskey Angels. The results show that they were a group of teenage girls performing horseback tricks at rodeos. She watches a few short clips on YouTube of the girls’ performing tricks at various rodeos.
“Damn! These girls are good.” Cassady shows Jessie the video of the girls performing.
Jessie looked at the screen and couldn’t believe how talented the girls were. Especially the strawberry blonde hair girl. She jumps from one horse to another horse like she is a rabbit. She would do handstands and backflips as well. Sometimes she would hold up targets for two other girls to either shoot or throw knives at.
“Hey, you guys have to see this.” Jessie turns around to show the other ladies in their group and noticed they were gone.
Cassady turns and notices everyone else has walked off. She shakes her head. “I guess they had other things they wanted to do.”
“Well, I can’t wait to see how the girls do.” Jessie wanted to see how good they were.
“Come on, let’s go and explore.” Cassady was going to stay with her cousin.
“All right, you know I don’t need a babysitter.” Jessie looks at Cassady because she knows what she is doing.
“I know. I want to spend some time with my favorite cousin.” Cassady hugs her cousin as they walk.
Whiskey Angels:
April was excited as they unloaded the horses from the trailer. The rodeo season has already started, and this was their third performance.
“I can’t wait until we perform.” April was excited about performing.
“You’re always excited when we perform.” Brenda looks at her best friend and knew how much April loved being a cowgirl.
“What can I say? My mothers say I’m a natural.” April was happy she had parents that really loved her.
Her birth mother abandoned her with her aunt. Then her aunt and her husband abandoned her at an out-of-the-way rest stop. If her adoptive
mothers hadn’t stopped to relieve themselves, how long would she have been there?
They raised her as if she was their natural daughter and taught her everything about riding and performing. They also showed her what family meant and that she would always be loved, no matter what.
“Your mothers are crazier than you, but I love them.” Brenda loved April’s mothers.
“I know, sis.” April looked at her best friend as a sister.
“I heard a new girl group is performing tonight after Roger Cash.” Sidney looks at Brenda and April as she leads driftwood to his temporary stall.
“Do you know what their name is?” Quinn looks towards Sidney.
“Nope, but I found a YouTube video of them that someone posted, and these girls can play. They are an actual Country Western band, like those women in the Trace Adkins Chrome video.”
“Show me the video later, after we get everyone out of the trailer and in their temp stalls.” Quinn wanted to see who this new girl group was.
“Okay.”
The girls transfer the horses from the trailer to their assigned stalls. Afterward, the girls take them for a walk. April was excited as she walked her horse, Joker. Her mom bought him for her a year after she started living with them.
She loved horses and ranch life. She also loved performing and showing off. She follows the others and let Joker off the reigns to run around with the other horses in the pastured they were told they could use.
Cassady and Jessie watch a few performances when they start up. All of them had passes for all the events and since they didn’t have anything else to do. They were going to take advantage of their passes.
Cassady spots the strawberry blonde hair girl a few times, while her and her cousin are exploring. She spotted the girl talking to two older women dressed in western gear. She wonders if the women are her parents.
Jessie was enjoying herself and helping her overcome the grief she was still feeling. She spots Cassady looking at the girl they saw earlier when they arrived.
“What’s got your attention, cousin?” Jessie wonders why Cassady was so interested in the young girl.
“Nothing.” Cassady turns her attention back to the event they had sat down to watch.
It was the adult event of barrel racing. There was a woman around their age out in the arena on a chestnut color horse. Cassady watches as the
rider maneuvers her horse around the barrels. She couldn’t believe the control the young woman had.
“Man, I would be pissing my pants.” Jessie couldn’t believe how complex the course was.
“I know what you mean, cousin. I wonder how long that rider has been doing that?” Cassady was enjoying the show.
The announcer calls out the rider’s time when she finishes the course. The next rider lines up to start the course. This rider looked to be a little younger than the previous rider. When the gun fires, they sprint out and start the course.
Cassady and Jessie watches the barrel racing event for a while. When it ends, the two of them go looking for the food vendors and spot Debbie and Angela had a food vendor tent.
“Hey, where have you guys been?” Jessie looks at Debbie and Angela for an answer.
“We were watching the bronco busting. What you two been up too?” Angela was curious.
“We were watching the ladies Barrel Racing competition.”
“That must have been fun.” Debbie liked the barrel racing, but she also liked watching hot guys get bucked around from on top of horses too.
“Man, that food smells good.” Cassady looks at where they were waiting inline to order. It was a Native American food tent.
“So where is Juni?” Jessie looks around for their missing companion.
“The last we saw of her. She was at a vendor selling saddles and such.” Angela had spotted their missing band member.
“I wonder why she would be looking at a saddle?” Jessie was curious.
“Next.” The four girls move forward and place their orders.
Always Stay Loving, Perry
I grew up overshadowed by steep oceans
Couldn't catch the eye of no city boy
Here I am devoted to Perry
How I love the way you look in your grey jeans
Can't believe I let the smog cloud my eye
Where the steep oceans stand
And the vast hills surround
I'll ride my brown truck with you by my side
There's a whisper in the Oxfordshire breeze
Reminding me of Bree
That whisper builds
That whisper cries
Bree in the morning skies
You appear on the horizon
Brushing that straight hair from your eyes
The city folk with their fancy gadgets
Cement oceans like grey tombs
Don't have nothin' on our way of life
Just listen to the cuckoos
Don't live your life like a city boy
Today might feel a time to be like a city boy
But that ain't no way to lead a life
You know, there's a lot I drive by in my brown truck
Folk who is messing up
Always stay loving, Perry
Always stay loving
In Oxfordshire, when I was a child
I met a loving man
"How can you be so loving?" asked I
Here was his wise reply
Don't live your life like a city boy
Today might feel a time to be like a city boy
But that ain't no way to lead a life
Met an old lady who lived like a city boy
"What happened to her?" asked I
Here was his wise reprise
Don't live your life like a city boy
Today might feel a time to be like a city boy
But that ain't no way to lead a life
That lady's gone now
It's sad really
Word is, she had straight hair once
Little Perry, keep your jeans grey
Always stay loving, Perry
Always stay loving
Cuckoos, cuckoos, cuckoos
Cuckoos, cuckoos, cuckoos...
The girls loved the applause they were getting after the song. Angela could see that the crowd loved it. She spotted the stage manager letting them know, they needed to exit the stage for the next singer.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you very much.” Angela leaves the stage first, followed by the rest of the girls.
“Man, I can’t believe how well that song went over.” Juni was amazed at how well the song was received.
“Me too.” Debbie was surprised they were playing that song here.
“Hey, they liked it.” Jessie was wiping down her guitar as they cool down in their bus.
Cassady was glad the performance was over. Her t-shirt was soaked through.
“I need to find a better antiperspirant.” Cassady walks to the bathroom and sponges wash her pits.
“Hey, Juni, did you buy that saddle you were looking at?” Debbie looks at her friend.
“Yep, and it’s already here on the bus.” Juni liked the saddle she spotted at the vendor’s stall.
Jessie looks at Juni “I didn’t know you ride.”
“Yeah, I use to ride horses when I was younger. However, when my parents moved, I had to give it up. Recently I and my boyfriend have taken up riding again.” Juni loved horses.
“So, that’s why you have been dressing more country than normal.” Angela has known Juni for a long time.
“Yep.” Juni puts her guitar away.
Cassady comes walking out of the bathroom feeling better. She looks at everyone as she grabs a Pepsi from the refrigerator. “Does, anyone want anything, while I’m over here?”
“I’ll take a water if there are any.” Debbie was feeling thirsty.
“One water coming up.” Cassady grabs flavor water and carries it over to Debbie.
She hands the bottle to Debbie.
“Thanks.” As Debbie accepts it.
“You’re welcome.” Cassady sits down on the sofa across from Debbie and Juni.
“So, where are we off to this time?” Cassady looks towards Angela for an answer.
“I don’t know.”
“So, who does?” Jessie directs her question toward Angela.
“Cynthia does.” Angela knew Cynthia was handling everything.
“Where is she?” Debbie was curious.
“Collecting your pay.” Rick walks onto the bus.
Behind Rick was Marty. Both men looked like they were ready to have a drink.
“Oh, so did she tell you where we are heading next?” Angela looks at Rick as he grabs a beer from the refrigerator.
“Your next gig is in Washington D.C. at a bar called the Double Deuce.” Marty knew where the place was.
“Wasn’t that the name of the bar from the movie Road House?” Cassady loved Patrick Swayze movies.
“Yep, and it’s the name of the bar we're going to next. You girls have a two-night gig there.” Cynthia comes walking onto the bus.
“Cool. I hope they have a mechanical bull.” Juni wanted to show off.
“Oh, they have two of them.” Marty looks over towards Juni when he says that.
“Cool.” A smile appears on Juni’s face.
“So, when are we leaving?” Cassady looks towards Cynthia for an answer.
“Tomorrow morning. I figure the guys could use a rest and you girls could too.” Cynthia knew everyone was still energized by their performance.
“Cool.” Cassady wasn’t going to waste the opportunity to have some fun.
“Well, I’m heading to bed. You, ladies, have fun.” Rick heads towards his bunk.
“I got some work to do.” Cynthia gets up and heads towards the back of the bus.
“I think I’ll join my cousin.” Jessie gets up and heads towards her bunk.
“Me too.” Juni gets up and heads to bed as well.
Double Deuce, Washington D.C.:
“Yee Haw!”
Cassady and Juni were competing against each other on the mechanical bull. Both women were dressed in skimpy clothes and riding the bulls like pros. Cassady had a large pitcher of beer in her hands as she bounced up and down wildly on the bull she was on. She looks over and noticed Juni was matching her bull’s speed and performance as well.
Both of them were putting on a wild show as they chug their pitchers of beer. Cassady was on her second pitcher and so was Juni. Both ladies were enjoying the cheering as they continued to show off.
Juni looks over towards Cassady “Give it up, city girl. This is a country girl game.”
“We’ll see!” Cassady nods her head towards the operator of her bull to increase the bucking.
The operator increases the setting and watches as the drummer from the Angels rides. He could tell she was enjoying herself as she drank some more beer from her pitcher.
“Not bad, city girl. But let a country girl show you how it's done.” Juni holds up two fingers to her operator.
The operator nods in understanding and increases the setting by two notches. She holds on tight as the bull becomes even wilder. She downs the rest of her beer.
“I can do that too.” Cassady signals her operator to increase the setting.
The operator does as Cassady wants. He watches as she bounces up and down on the bucking bull. After a few seconds, she is thrown from her bull and right into the cushions. She looks up dazed and bruised at several guys helping her. A smile appears on her face “Thanks guys.”
The tight daisy dukes she was wearing had dug deep into the groin area and she had popped a button on her shirt covering her breasts. All she had was one button holding her top on. She looks around for her cowboy hat and finds it nearby. She picks it up and put it on.
“Here’s a beer for you ma’am.” A guy puts a mug of beer into her hands.
“Thanks. As Cassady chugs it down.
She was feeling lightheaded and her vision was a little blurry. She looks over towards Juni and notices she had stopped and was smiling at her.
“Us country girls know how to ride our bulls.” Juni was enjoying herself.
Jessie walks over to her drunken cousin. She could tell Cassady was drunk off her ass.
“Come on cousin, you’re drunk off your ass.” Jessie escorts Cassady back to the table they claimed after performing for the crowd earlier.
Cassady looks at her cousin “I have to pee.”
“With as much beer you and Juni just got finished drinking, I’m not surprised.” Jessie escorts Cassady to the lady’s bathroom. There was a short line, but Jessie manages to get Cassady to a stall so she could pee.
Afterward, they head out to the tour bus. Jessie helps Cassady inside and helps her to her bunk. As Jessie is getting into her bunk, she can already hear her cousin snoring.
The following afternoon Cassady wakes up with a major hangover. She could hear the girls moving around on the bus.
“Can you guys keep it down, please?” Cassady was leaning against the bunks with tears in her eyes.
Jessie turns around and looks at her cousin “How’s your head feeling, cousin?”
“Like someone is playing the drums inside my head.” Cassady stumbles towards the bathroom and relieves her bladder.
Jessie smiles as she goes about fixing the hangover cure, she knows. She hears the toilet flush and then the sink. She looks up as her cousin comes walking out of the bathroom.
“Come over here, Cassady. I have a hangover cure for you.”
“Thanks.” Cassady walks over to Jessie.
“Here, drink this and I mean all of it.” Jessie hands Cassady a glass filled with the hangover juice she made.
“What’s in it?” As Cassady accepts the glass.
“Just drink it. It’s not going to kill you.”
“Fine!” As Cassady starts drinking the contents of the glass. She could taste the tomato juice in it. As for the other ingredients, she couldn’t tell
what else was added to them.
Jessie watches as her cousin downs the drink, she made for her. Juni was already up and recovering as well. She had her version of the drink. The other girls in the band were recovering from having too much fun last night as well. They didn’t go the distance like Cassady and Juni did, but they did celebrate too much.
So, did Rick and Marty as well. They were recovering. They still had a show to do later in the evening.
“Ugh!” Cassady rinses the glass out and put it in the dishwasher.
“Serves you right. Anyway, you should feel better in an hour or so.” Jessie felt sorry for her cousin.
“Really?”
“Hopefully.” Jessie teases her cousin.
“Oh, you are so hilarious.” Cassady could feel the pain from last night as she walks over to a seat, to sit down.
“Are you feeling sore, Cousin?” Jessie knew Cassady took a beating on the bull.
“Just a little. I should feel better by the time we have to perform.”
“God, what day is it?” Cassady sits up rubbing her eyes trying to wake up.
“I think it's Friday.” Jessie turns around to face her cousin.
They had gotten in late from the rodeo they had played at. Instead of staying on their tour bus, Cynthia sprung for a nice hotel room for the group. They were worn out from playing two gigs back-to-back and doing a rodeo several days later.
They currently had a week's break before having to go and play another rodeo. So, Cynthia got them a hotel room so they could relax and recharge their batteries. Four of the girls were sharing a room. Cynthia and Juni were sharing a room with the guys.
Cynthia could have gotten a room by herself, but she wanted to save money. So, she got a suite for herself, Juni, and the guys. The guys didn’t mind sharing a room, the suite had enough rooms for the four of them.
Cassady stumbles towards the bathroom and does her morning business. She recently discovered that she was suffering from a UTI and got some medicine to cure it. Her cousin had to show her how to treat it since this was the first time she has ever had a UTI.
After finishing her business and putting on her swimsuit. She grabs a cup of coffee before leaving the hotel room. She drinks it on her way to the pool area.
No one was down at the pool when she entered. She finishes her coffee and finds a nice lounge she likes. There was sunshine coming in through the glass windows that protected the place and kept the area at a nice temperature. Since no one was using the pool currently, she dives in and does a few laps. It was nice to get off the tour bus and stretch her limbs.
As she is swimming, she spots a young man watching her. He didn’t look like an employee just wearing a pair of tight Speedo’s and showing off the various tattoos covering his body. A smile forms on her face as she swims back and forth.
Tony had come down to enjoy the pool. He was on vacation and just wanted to relax. Things have been hectic in his life and he needed a break from it. A smile appeared on his face when he walked into the pool area and spotted a cute young woman swimming in the pool.
He watches as she swims back and forth in the pool. He spotted the tour bus parked out in the parking lot last night when it arrived. He wonders if she was with the people who had checked in. He walks over to a lounger and set his towel on it. He slips his slippers off and walks over to the deep end and dives into the water.
Cassady heard the young man as he dived into the pool. It took her some getting used to when she first walked into the water. She stops at the shallow end and watches him. She wonders why he had so many tattoos covering his body and what he did.
Tony spotted the woman watching him as he did a lap. He had to admit she had a nice figure. Too bad she was wearing a one-piece swimsuit. He would have liked to see what she looked like in a tiny two-piece.
Cassady does a few more laps, before getting out of the pool and walking over to the lounger she claimed for herself. She dries off and lay down on it. She was finally feeling relaxed after swimming. She watches the guy as he swam. She liked his technique and how he turned when he got to the end of the pool.
She notices his strokes were even and well-placed as he swam. She kept watching him and wonders what he did and why he had so many tattoos. She pulls her Kindle out and starts reading a story.
Tony does a few more laps before he gets out and walks over to his lounger. He noticed while he was swimming that the young woman had watched him for a while. He wonders who she was as he dries off.
After drying off, he walks over to her. He wonders what she did.
“Excuse me, but have I seen you before?” Tony looks at the young woman.
Cassady puts her Kindle down and looks at the young man. She should get used to this “Have you been to any rodeos, lately?”
“Not recently. Do you perform at them?” Tony sits down on the lounger next to the woman.
“You could say that. I’m with the Angels.” Cassady watches him.
“The Angels? Is that a band or something?” Tony has never heard of them.
“Yes, we’re an all-female country western band. We perform at the Rodoes and a few bars. You should come and hear us perform.”
“I might do that. When are you playing?” Tony wouldn’t mind hearing them sing. He wasn’t a country Western music lover, but this woman was cute.
“We’re playing at the Broken Spoke this weekend. If you're interested in listening to us. We’ll be there.”
“I’ll have to check it out. So, is there any chance of me getting your name?” Tony wanted to know more about this woman.
“Sure, but you have to give me yours first.” A teasing smile appears on Cassady’s face.
“Tony, Tony MacKenzie.”
“Well, it's nice to meet you, Tony. I’m Cassady McCloud. I don’t know if you like Country music, but I think you’ll like what we play.”
“We’ll see. So, what instrument do you play or are you the singer?”
“No, I’m the drummer. I like to bang on things. What do you do, Tony?” Cassady was watching Tony.
“I’m a mechanic. Where you like to bang on things. I like to tinker with things.”
“Me too. I use tow rok for an auto parts store and most of the men in the store didn’t like dealing with me, because I knew more about cars than they did.”
“Really? What may you want to give that up?” Tony couldn’t believe his luck.
“The people I worked with. Plus, I like playing music and traveling.” Cassady enjoyed what she was doing.
“Is your group from here?” Tony was curious.
“Nope, we’re from down south.”
“How many members are in the band you are in?”
“There’s five of us. Our lead singer is part owner of the band.” Cassady knew Angela worked hard for the band.
“I’m going to have to meet them.”
“Since you know a little about me. How about you tell me something about you?” Cassady gives him a sweet smile.
“Okay.”
Cassady comes walking back into the hotel room the next morning. She had the heels she wore last night on her date in her hands. She moves quietly around the room she was sharing with her cousin.
She had so much fun last night with the guy she met down at the pool yesterday. She had gone out to eat and dance afterward. Later, they went back to his place, where she rode him all night long. She was a little sore between her legs and could feel some of his cum leaking out of her artificial vagina.
“Did you have fun last night, cousin?” Jessie looks over toward her cousin.
“God yes. I never knew sex could be so much funnier as a girl.” Cassady had so much fun letting Tony make love to her. She even enjoyed sucking him off as well.
“So, what did you two do last night?” Jessie sits up in bed to listen to her cousin.
“Well, we went to Antonio's Ristorante Italiano for dinner. You wouldn’t believe how good the food was, cousin. Afterward, he took me dancing. We didn’t go to a country western place, but a nice club and danced the night away. After that, we went to his place and spent the night exploring each other’s bodies.”
“Did you get any sleep?” Cassady wonders if Cassady and Tony got any sleep. She knew men couldn’t last long.
“Sis, I rode him so much last night, that we didn’t even stop. I don’t know what he took to keep his manhood hard all night, but it was.” Cassady starts undressing.
“Well, I’m happy you had fun last night.” Jessie watches as Cassady undresses. She spots a few hickey marks on her body.
“Me too.” Cassady finishes undressing and walks over to remove her makeup.
Jessie gets out of bed and walks into the bathroom and does her morning business. Just as she was setting the water temperature for her shower. There is a knock on the door and Cassady sticks her head in.
“Do you mind if I take a shower with you?” Cassady uses to take showers with her cousin when they were younger.
A smirk appears on Jessie’s face “Not at all, cousin.”
“Thanks.” Cassady walks into the bathroom and takes Jessie’s hand.
It’s been a while since the two of them have taken a shower together. Cassady washes her cousin’s body while teasing her at the same time. She knew her cousin’s sensitive areas and knew what turned her on.
The two of them explore and play with each other’s bodies. Cassady does everything she can to please her cousin. By the time they are finished in the shower, Jessie could barely walk from the orgasms Cassady caused her to have.
Jessie looks at her cousin, as she dries off “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. Now, I’m going to get a nap in.” Cassady kisses Jessie on the cheek.
“Sweet dreams, Cassy.” Jessie heads down to the breakfast bar to grab some breakfast.
When she walks into the little breakfast room, she spots Debbie and Angela sitting at a table enjoying an omelet. There was a hotel employee who made fresh waffles and eggs over at the buffet table. She orders several fresh waffles and puts fresh cinnamon apples on them.
She walks over and sits down at the table Debbie and Angela was sitting at. She wonders where Juni was.
“Where’s Cassady?” Angela looks at Jessie and wonders where her cousin was.
“She’s up in our room, sound asleep. She just got in this morning.”
“Oh, I miss those days.” Debbie looks at Jessie and noticed she was glowing. “You got laid, didn’t you?”
“You could say that. Where is Juni?” Jessie was curious.
“Her boyfriend showed up this morning and they went out together. She’ll be back later in the evening.” Angela knew Juni’s boyfriend liked to surprise Juni.
“I can’t believe how serious Juni and her boyfriend are. I wonder if they are going to get married soon?”
“Juni has hinted that they might get married after this tour.” Angela has overheard Juni talking with her boyfriend.
“So, how long are we going to be here at the hotel? Not that I don’t mind.” Jessie liked being in the hotel, then on the bus.
“We have a gig this weekend. So, we’ll be moving out on Friday night to get there on time.” Angela looks at Jessie when she says that.
“I knew it was too good to be true.”
After breakfast, Debbie goes for a swim. Angela and Jessie go for a walk. It was rare for them to have this much downtime.
The Show Place Arena, Prince George's County, Maryland:
“This song is for all you cowgirls out there.” Angela gives Cassady a head nod.
Her daddy gave her first pony
Then told her to ride
She climbed high in that saddle
Feel I don't know how many times
He taught her a lesson that she learned
Maybe a little too well
Cowgirls don't cry
Ride, baby, ride
Lessons in life are going to show you in time
Soon enough, you're gonna know why
It's gonna hurt every now and then
If you fall, get back on again
Cowgirls don't cry
The Angels sing the song in their style since it belonged to Brook & Dunn. They have been getting some requests from their fans to sing some popular songs and this one had meaning to every woman out in the audience. For one particular girl in the audience, this song meant a lot to her.
Her home life wasn’t the greatest and she was doing everything she could to bare it. She was lucky that she knew some of the vendors at the rodeo and managed to come along to help. She had to get away from her abusive uncle. The man didn’t like her very much and since he was given custody of her, she had to do what he said to a certain degree.
He and his wife didn’t care what she did or where she went. The main reason they didn’t care, was because of her lifestyle. Still, she wishes her parents were still alive. They died in a plane crash with some business associates on their way back from a business meeting. The Lear Jet they were traveling in, was struck by lightning during a storm.
They were on final approach at the private airport they flew out of when a huge lightning bolt struck the aircraft and caused it to explode. She had been waiting for them to land so, she could drive them home when she saw the plane explode and turn into a huge fireball. The days afterward leading up to the funeral of her parents had been a blur. The only thing that managed to make it bearable was the song the Angels were playing.
Montana wipes the tears away as they fall from her eyes and slide down her cheek. She closes her eyes as the song cause the memory of that day to surface. She tries not to cry anymore or relive that memory.
She wipes the tears away a final time as the song ends. Montana knew the Angels were going to sign autographs. She wanted to get the poster she bought signed and see if they wouldn’t mind doing a selfie with her.
She manages to make her way to where the Angels were sitting to sign autographs. She waits in the long line and as she approaches them, she noticed all five women were there. She was next in line to talk with them.
Cassady couldn’t believe how many people were waiting in line to get their autographs or take selfies with them. She had to agree that Cynthia was right that they should meet their fans. They had a lot of them. One girl in line caught her attention. She seemed to be excited and sad at the same time. She has seen that look before and wondered why the girl was feeling that way.
Montana makes her way up to the Angels “Hi, I was wondering if you ladies wouldn’t mind signing my poster and taking a selfie with me, please?”
Angela could see that this meant a lot to the young girl. A smile appears on her face “Sure, we won’t mind.”
All the ladies gather around the girl and have Cynthia snap a few photos for them. They take several pictures together and individually and sign Montana’s poster. Personalized messages are written on the poster to Montana.
She looks at all the members “Thank you for signing my poster and writing such nice messages as well. You don’t know how much this means to me.” Tears start to leak from her eyes again.
Cassady walks over to her and hugs her. Something about the girl was pulling on her heartstrings.
“If you ever want to talk or need a shoulder to cry on. Just give me a call.” Cassady types her cell number into Montana’s cell phone.
“Thank you.”
“That goes double for us as well.” Angela smiles at the girl.
Later in the evening, the girls are having dinner on their tour bus. Cynthia looks at everyone “I got good news and some bad news for you girls.”
“What’s the bad news?” Angela was curious about what could be the bad news.
“The bad news is, we're almost at the end of our Rodeo tour. I still have a few gigs lined up for you ladies.”
“Okay, what’s the good news?” Cassady was curious.
“The good news is, the record company that holds you guys’ contract has lined up another tour for you out west. It’s going to be a six-month tour, that could turn into a world tour. If it does, you’ll be out on the road for a year or so. We also have several video shots and maybe an appearance in a country western movie lined up for you ladies as well.”
“How much time do we have between the start of the second tour?” Debbie was wondering what type of arrangements she might have to make.
“One month. Then after that, we start the tour.” Cynthia still had a few things to do.
“That will at least give us time to make arrangements.” Cassady didn’t know how she felt about spending a year on tour. She’ll have to put her car in storage and have someone look after her apartment.
“True.” Debbie was hoping to have some downtime.
“Will this be a problem, ladies?” Cynthia knew the record company worked hard to get them this deal.
“No, it’s not a problem.” Angela looks at everyone when she answers.
“Is there anything you ladies would like to ask?” Cynthia looks at everyone.
“Where is the movie being shot at?” Juni was curious about that.
“In Hawaii at a studio by the name of Island Productions.”
“Oh, Boy! Hawaii. That should be fun. They have real cowboys there.” Jessie couldn’t wait to go to Hawaii.
“Look, it's still being hashed out, but so far, it's sounding good. I think it will be a big boost for you ladies.” Cynthia hopes they get the gig.
“Cool.”
Cassady wakes up and finds herself sandwiched between a naked woman with strawberry blonde color hair and a muscular bald head guy. She could feel his huge stiff penis resting between her butt cheeks. She carefully extracts herself from between them and stumbles towards the bathroom.
Her head was pounding from the drinks she had last night. She sits down on the toilet and lets her bladder release. She licks her lips and could still taste the fluid from the woman she had sex with last night.
She had met the couple at the bar she and the others had gone to after the gig at the rodeo. Everyone wanted to relax and enjoy themselves after doing such a good show. Angela left with a cute busty cowgirl. Her cousin Jessie left with an older-looking handsome cowboy. He was almost old enough to be their father.
Debbie left with two brothers and Juni left by herself. She wouldn’t cheat on her boyfriend. Rick and Marty left with two young women that were friends. She left with a married couple that enjoyed threesomes and had an open marriage. After she finishes doing her morning business. She takes a shower and while she is in the shower, she is joined by the woman she went home with. They fool around while in the shower and afterward, she says goodbye. She catches an Uber back to the hotel they were staying at.
Since the breakfast buffy was still available, Cassady grabs some muffins and a banana along with a fresh cup of coffee and take it back to her hotel room. When she walks into the room, she discovers she is the first one back.
Cassady eats the muffins and drinks the coffee, before changing her clothes and sitting down with her laptop to check her balance and pay some bills. Even though she isn’t home to take care of her place, she still needed to make sure the bills were paid. She couldn’t afford an accountant to handle everything.
While she is paying some bills online. Jessie comes walking in still looking a little rough. A smirk appears on Cassady’s face “Morning sex?”
“God yes. Jerry may be old enough to be our father, but he has the energy of a young man and hung like a horse.” Jessie was surprised when she saw how big Jerry was.
She had to open her mouth wide to give him a blow job. Just before she left, she rode him one more time and could feel his semen leaking out of her vagina. She loved that he stretched her and she would love to feel that feeling all the time.
Jessie looks at Cassady “How was your night?”
“It was fun. I have never done a threesome with a married couple before.” Cassady had fun with Betty and her husband.
“So, did you enjoy eating out with another woman?” Jessie looks at her cousin.
“Hey, I ate you out. However, I did enjoy being dominated by another woman. Betty was really aggressive and her husband enjoyed being dominated by me and her.”
“Well, I’m glad you enjoy yourself. I think after all the traveling we have been doing. It was nice to have a night to enjoy being a woman. What do you think about maybe touring for a year?” Jessie hasn’t had time to talk with her cousin about what they were told yesterday.
“I don’t know. I hate the idea of putting my car in storage and leaving my place empty for a year.” Cassady didn’t want to leave her place empty.
“Well, you could ask our cousin Jewel to stay at your place and drive your car. I’m going to have my sister stay at my place.”
“I think Casey would love that. She hates staying with your parents.” Cassady knew Casey didn’t mind her being a girl.
“They don’t approve of her job. The thing is, she works hard and makes a lot of money.” Jessie knew her sister enjoyed being an exotic dancer.
She had the body and personality for it.
“I think I know someone I can trust to watch over my place.” Cassady was thinking about her friend Alison. She had a nice security job and was trustworthy.
Jessie finishes paying her bills. She needed to go out to buy a few items. There was a Walmart nearby so could do her shopping.
“Hey, I need to buy a few items. Do you want to come with me?” Cassady looks at her cousin.
“Yeah, let me change first.” Jessie walks over to her suitcase and pulls out a dress. She wasn’t going to wipe Jerry’s cum from between her legs.
She was enjoying feeling it in the folds of her vagina.
Cassady watches as her cousin changes clothes and spritz a little bit of her favorite perfume on. While her cousin was getting ready, she grabs her purse and make sure she has everything she needs. Sometimes she splits the contents of her purse up with a wallet she likes carrying when she is wearing blue jeans.
Cassady and Jessie leave the hotel and catch a cab over to Walmart. They spend some time looking at some of the outfits on sale and try a few on. It was hard finding the right fit for Jessie, but she managed to find a few outfits.
Cassady tries a few outfits on and remembers the first time she went into a women’s dressing room. She was nervous that she would be caught. However, she managed to get away with it and did it again at another store.
The clothes she picked out fitted her pretty well. She comes out of the dressing room wearing it and looks at her cousin “So, what do you think?”
“It's okay. I think you need something different.” Jessie didn’t think the outfit looked good on her cousin.
Cassady trusted her cousin’s opinion. She’s been right so far on clothes that made her look good. She goes and selects a few different clothing and tries those on. When she asks her cousin again, she gets the thumb up from her cousin.
After selecting some clothes and trying on some cheap shoes. They head over to the personal hygiene department to purchase some shampoo and conditioner. Cassady picks up several deodorant sticks since all of them go through them when they perform. She was a drummer, so she tends to go through more than the rest of the girls.
Once they finish their shopping, they go to a nearby sandwich shop and have lunch. They buy a few extra to take back to the hotel with them.
The upcoming weeks were rough on the Angels as they performed outside on stage. Between the humidity and heat, they were sweating like pigs. Cassady was soaked in sweat by the time they finished their performance. All the other ladies were sweating as well.
The gigs they played at some of the bars they played at were profitable. The managers of those bars wanted them to come back and play again. Cynthia was going to talk to their booking manager to arrange it.
They had left Maryland after playing at one of the largest rodeos there and were making their way back down toward Tennessee. After the new laws were passed against transgender kids and drag queens, the girls didn’t want to play in the state. However, their manager had already signed contracts with the clients they were to play at.
So, to piss off the lawmakers, the girls team up with a bunch of Drag performers and play. They were dressed in drag as well. When some of the people in the audience started to boo and complain. The girls stop playing and tell them everyone has the right to express themselves. What they were doing was no different from wearing t-shirts that said you can take my gun away from my cold dead hands.
When some people in the crowd complained, the girls told them they could leave and forget about a refund. They would rather have a small group that respected other people’s rights than have many ignorant people at their gigs. After the people leave the place they were playing, they return to playing music.
“You know that is going to cost us?” Cynthia looks at the girls after the show.
“We know, and to be frank with you. I really don’t care. These politicians need to pull their heads out of their asses and leave people along.” Cassady flops down on the sofa on their bus.
“Cassady, it’s not just them. This whole conservative group is trying to tell people what to do.”
“Well, they must shut up or live in another country. They don’t have the right to tell people how to live their lives. Mother nature already makes life hard for people like me, and add on that religion and assholes in Congress just passing laws because they want to line their pockets with
donations from groups. It’s just making life harder for everyone.” Cassady looks at the other girls in the band. They all knew she was trans from
her cousin telling them.
“Look, I know what you mean, Cassady. We all are upset with how things are going. I don’t think many women like the state telling them what they can or can’t do with their bodies.” Debbie didn’t like that many states were passing ridiculous laws telling women what they could or couldn’t do with their bodies.
Some of the ideas antiabortionists have, she agreed with, but the choice should be left to the woman, not the government telling women what they can or can’t do. No one has the right to restrict what goes on with a woman’s body or mental state after being raped. Debbie clinches her fist as she recalls what happened to her on her sixteenth birthday.
Juni walks over and hugs Debbie. She knew what Debbie experienced on her sixteenth birthday. She didn’t think Joey would have done what he did to her.
Jessie knew what had happened as well. She hugs Debbie hoping she will feel better. Angela looks at her friends and hopes they never have to experience what Debbie went through.
As for the drag queens that performed with them, they invited the group to one of the popular clubs in town. The club’s owner was the brother of one of the drag queens. He wasn’t gay or anything like that, but he did believe in helping the LGBTQ community.
He treated the girls to a banquet in their honor. The drag queens who performed with them made a show just for them. The girls watched and tossed money up on the stage for the performers.
Afterward, the girls leave and head toward their next destination. Cassady was sitting by one of the windows and was watching the scenery pass by as they drove past. She thinks back to when she first started to dress as a girl.
Most of the people she thought would support her decision didn’t. She lost a few friends because of how close-minded they were toward trans people. Those friends that didn’t abandon her didn’t care. There were a few that stayed by her but distanced themselves from her.
They didn’t invite her to events they held or when they went somewhere to camp or hike. She could tell they felt uncomfortable being around her. Even when they went swimming, she could tell her female friends weren’t happy she was changing in the same room with them.
Jessie noticed her cousin sitting by the window and thinking about something. She knew her cousin wondered if she made the right choice. She walks over and sits next to Cassady.
“What are you thinking about, cousin?”
Cassady looks at her cousin. If there was anyone she respected and trusted a lot, it was Jessie.
“Thinking about how things have changed for me.” Cassady tucks a strand of her behind her ear.
“Well, are you regretting becoming a woman?” Jessie knew Cassady has had a hard time with the decision.
“No, it’s what I should have been when I was born, instead of being born with a birth defect and having to live my life like that. I wonder if I would have encountered half what you guys did as you grew up.” Cassady knew Jessie experienced being molested when she was younger by one of their uncles.
“Who knows, Cassady? Not everyone’s life was as hard as some of the others. As girls, we all have experienced things we wish we never did.
Even Juni experienced things she didn’t ask for. I know life for you was hard. But as girls, sometimes life for us can be difficult. It’s how you handle the situation and how you recover from it.”
Cassady grabs Jessie’s hand and gives it a light squeeze. She knew Jessie was a trusting person.
“I know cousin.”
Jessie smiled at Cassady and knew life wasn’t easy for her either. She couldn’t imagine what it would be like to be born in the wrong body and have to live life like that. She heard how the family felt about Cassady.
“Now girls, give me big smiles.” Katey has the girls arranged on the different horses for the picture.
She takes a group picture of the girls dressed in short, daisy duke-style shorts and the small checkered shirts tied to make it look like they are supporting each girl’s breasts. The tops showed just enough of each girl’s cleavage.
Katey’s assistant stands nearby to help position the girls for another shot. After the group shot, Kimmy positions each girl on the horse they have been assigned.
“You ladies are doing great.” Kimmy could tell some of the girls were nervous.
“Thanks, Kimmy.” Cassady was nervous as she sat on top of Cheyanne.
Cassady loved how Cheyanne looked. She was a nice chestnut color with a white spot right in the middle of her head. She was tall and had well-defined muscles. Cassady wasn’t a rider like Juni or her cousin, but Cheyanne was tolerated as an armature rider.
After each girl is photographed with the horses. They are photographed riding together and doing simple tricks. Juni is doing a little more since she is more skilled as a rider, which the other girls don’t mind.
Once they are done, the girls pick up their instruments and start playing. While a few ranch hands have their horses run around them in a circle with the girls in the middle of the training arena. Once Katey is done with all the pictures and videos. The girls feed the horses apple slices and sugar cubes.
Debbie pets the horse she took pictures on. She was still dressed in the short daisy dukes, boots, and top. She was wearing a cowboy hat that had been made just for her. All the girls had gotten custom-made cowboy hats from a local vendor. They carried Stetson hats and a few other brands.
Cynthia looks at the girls and could tell they were ready to take a dip in a pool. She walks over to the director that shot the video to see what she thought of it.
“Well, what do you think Deb?” Cynthia knew Deb’s reputation as a director.
“I think this video is going to amplify your song greatly.” Deb loved the video and how the girls were dressed.
Cassady walks over to where the refreshments are and grab a cold water bottle out of the cooler. It was flavored with pineapple juice, which she loved, next to coconut water. She grabs a black cherry for her cousin and takes it to her.
“Here you go, cousin.” Cassady hands the bottle of water to Jessie.
“Thanks.” Jessie accepts the water bottle and opens it.
“If you ladies want to, there’s a private pool you can use.” Katey looks at the girls when she spoke to them.
“We didn’t bring our swimsuits with us.” Angela looks at Katey.
“Who said anything about swimsuits? This is a private nude ranch. Since we booked the ranch for the next few hours. You, ladies, can relax and
get some sun.” Katey knew the owner of the ranch.
“Oh! Well, in that case.” Angela looks at everyone.
“Sure, I’m game.” Jessie wouldn’t mind sunbathing in the nude.
“I’m game too.” Debbie was an adventurist.
Cassady looks at her cousin. She wonders what she would do.
“Same here.” Jessie saw Cassady looking at her. She knew why she was looking at her.
“Good.” Kimmy escorts the girls over to the house so they can change out of their clothes.
She also shows them where the suntan lotion is and towels. She looks at them “If you need anything, let me know.”
Once Kimmy was done showing the girls where everything is. She leaves them alone. She’ll join them later.
The girls start undressing and take a group shower together. The shower was big enough to let ten people shower together. Once all of them were done showering, they all jump into the cool pool water and splash around.
“God, this water feels so good.” Cassady was floating on her back and looking up at the clear sky.
“I know what you mean, Cass.” Debbie was swimming around the pool.
Angela and Juni were relaxing by the poolside with their feet floating in front of them. Each girl could tell where their bikini lines were.
“Now you can cover those up.” Debbie loved sunbathing naked.
Cynthia arrives fifteen minutes later and joins them. The first thing she does is dunk her head underwater and come up, flipping her hair back behind her head. She looks at the girls as they relaxed.
“You look more relaxed, Cyn.” Debbie looks at Cynthia as she floats on her back.
“I am. I can’t believe you guys have the next few days free.” Cynthia has been busy managing all the gigs and such.
“I can’t believe our song, Wild Spirits has topped the charts. It’s rare for country music songs to beat out popular pop songs and such.” Angela
was surprised when she heard how popular their song was.
“Well, you ladies worked hard on performing and making it. I loved the lyrics and the tune you girls came up with.” Cynthia loved the song the girls wrote while they were traveling and recorded at a local studio. They sent it along with twelve other songs they recorded.
The girl's first album was coming out next year. Cynthia knew the girls were happy to hear how well their song Wild Spirits were doing.
“I can’t wait until we play in Tennessee at the Grand Ole Opry.” Debbie knew it was all country singers and group’s dream to play there.
After swimming for a while, the girls get out of the water and lay out sunbathing. All of them helped put suntan lotion on each other. Kathy and Kimmy had joined them. One of the servers brought them drinks and snacks to munch on.
Cassady walks into her apartment and turns the lights on. She was so glad to be home, as she walks into her bedroom to get undressed. She’ll go by the studio tomorrow to pick up all her stuff. All she wanted to do now was take a nice relaxing shower and crawl into her bed.
She strips out of her clothes after dropping her keys on her dresser. Her skin was still red from tanning outside in the nude. Their last rodeo gig had gone smoothly and there was going to be an update about their touring schedule.
Cassady sets the water temperature in her shower, before stepping into it. Once the desired temperature is reached. She steps under the stream of water and lets the water cascade down her sunburned skin. She had so much fun sunbathing, that she was thinking about getting a membership to one of the nudist colonies in her area.
She spends a long time in the shower and when the water starts getting cold. She gets out and dries off. She makes her way to her bedroom and slips on one of her spare nights. She checks the alarm on her cellphone, before laying down and falling asleep.
Cool Vox Recording:
The Angels were all sitting around the conference table in conference room B. Jessie looks at her cousin “How did you sleep?”
“Like a baby. It was nice being back in my bed.” Cassady felt well-rested and energized.
Debbie looks at Angela “Do we know what this meeting is about?”
“Nope, but it must be important.” Angela was curious why they were all here instead of having the day off.
After a few minutes of waiting, a young woman with short dark brown hair comes walking into the room. She wasn’t very tall and stood only four feet, eight inches tall. She was wearing a skirt that stopped about mid-thigh and a cream color blouse. A pair of gold-trimmed glasses sat on her youthful-looking face.
A pair of silver earrings hung from her ear lobes. She had lightly tanned skin and a wedding ring on her left hand. She stops at the head of the conference table and looks at everyone.
“Morning, my name is Lindsey Weathers. I know you ladies have done a successful tour of the rodeo circuit and you still have a major one coming up. I also know you were told you would be touring Europe as well. Unfortunately, there was a misunderstanding. You will still be going to Europe, but only a few countries.”
Lindsey looks around the table at the young women. She could tell they were confused about what was just said.
“Excuse me Mrs. Weathers, but what has changed?” Cassady was curious.
“Our European touring manager got your band mixed up with another group we managed. So, some rearrangements had to be redone.”
“Sounds like you need a better manager.” Juni looks at Mrs. Weather when she says that.
“We’re in the process of looking for a new manager. As for your group, you will be touring Canada for a few months and coming back here to the States to begin your tour. Some studio time has been set aside for you to record a second album as well. So, I need for you to start working on what songs you would like to have on the second album.”
“We just got done recording our first album. How many are we going to do?” Angela was curious about how many they had to do.
“According to your contract, your group is required to produce four albums. Since your band has already produced one, which I have to say sounds awesome. I figure you might want to start on a second one. I have some songs I would like for you to listen to and look at to see if you would like to use them on your second album.”
“Who are they written by?” Angela was curious.
“A few by me and a few by some of the songwriters we employed.” Lindsey had listened to the songs the Angels had written and it inspired her to write and record a few for them to listen to.
“So, you write songs as well?” Juni wonders what else this Lindsey person did.
“I write, play, and direct. I’m an assistant conductor of the Athens Orchestra.” Lindsey figures she would be upfront with the Angels.
“How much time do we have before we start our Canadian tour?” Jessie was curious.
“Your first gig in Canada is in a few weeks. So, you have time to relax and make arrangements.”
“Cool.” Debbie was glad she was going to have time to make arrangements.
During the rest of the meeting, Lindsey explains to the girls what their pay will be and what extra benefits the company is investing in them. After the meeting, the girls are treated to lunch by the recording studio. After lunch, they pick up their stuff and head home.
In the upcoming weeks, the girls get together to look over the songs that Mrs. Weathers mention. They also listen to the ones she recorded and loved a few of them. Angela figured out a way they could change a few words to make it sound like their style of playing.
They also start making a list of songs they would like to record for their second album as well. The girls work on their songs and album before, they leave to start their tour in Canada.
