Special Disclaimer:
This story is a continuation of what took place in Leave No Stone Unturned:

Navajo Nation Reservation, Arizona:
Cora examines all the artifacts she brought back from New York. The guys that helped her load the artifacts onto the truck, also helped her unload them at a warehouse that she was renting. The warehouse was located on the reservation, and she hired several guys she trusted to guard it.

So, far she has been in touch with several tribal leaders that were missing or had artifacts stolen from their lands or burial lands. She sent them pictures of the artifacts she brought back and had them identify which ones belong to them.

“Have you heard back from any more tribal leaders?” Dyani looks at Cora as she inventories the artifacts again.

“Some of them have gotten back to me and will be sending their people here to retrieve what belongs to them.” Cora turns around to look at Dyani.

She has been a big help in organizing everything back on the reservation. She found the warehouse for her and got the numbers for all the different tribal leaders.

“So, when will you be getting rid of these items?” Dyani looks at one of the artifacts and thought it looked unique.

“As soon as the tribal leaders send their representatives. I’m making sure these artifacts get back to their proper owners and aren’t resold again.” Cora didn’t want to see all the hard work she has been doing going to waste.

“That makes sense. I have a favor to ask of you.”

“What’s that?” Cora wonders what Dyani had in mind.

“The group I volunteer for needs some more people to help build houses for some of the families here on the reservation. I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind volunteering for a while?” Dyani knew Cora wasn’t working on a case right now.

“Sure, since I have some free time, I don’t mind helping out.” Cora owed the people on the reservation a lot. Also, they were her family now, since the spirits gave her, her gifts.

“Cool, I’ll let Calian know. Can you meet me at Running Crow's resident tomorrow morning?” Dyani knew everyone knew where Running Crow place was.

“Sure. Now, let's go and get some lunch.” Cora locks the place up.

Cora had sold one of the SUVs she kept from one of the crooks she had encountered and bought a used Jeep Wrangler. She had it repainted to match the desert coloring of the reservation. She hops into the driver seat and drives over to Crazy Eddy’s food stand.

Crazy Eddy’s Food Stand:
As Cora approaches Crazy Eddy’s Food Stand. A smile appears on her face as she spots his face on a chicken statue he had made. Ever since she has been living on the reservation, she has been coming to his food stand. He and his wife made some of the best Native American and Mexican-style food.

She pulls into a parking space and walks up to the food stand. There was already a line as she turns her jeep off and get in line. Cora knew Dyani was standing behind her.

“I didn’t know you liked coming down to Crazy Eddy’s.” Dyani met Cora a few months ago after she busted Alec Hussle.

“Are you kidding, me? I love his different styles of flatbread. He and his wife make the best flatbread around.” Cora loved the different styles of flatbreads Eddy and his wife Rose made.

When it’s time for Dyani and Cora to place their order. Cora lets Dyani place her order first. Cora already knew what she wanted.

“That will be.” Rose was ringing Dyani’s order.

“I’m covering her order, Rose.”

“Okay, what would you like today, Cora?” Rose was taking the orders today.

“I’ll have your barbecue buffalo flatbread.” Cora loved the barbecue meat.

Rose writes the order down and places it on the order wheel. She knew it wouldn’t take long to cook.

Rose rings up Cora’s order and adds Dyani’s order to the cost. She looks at Cora “your total is $15.50.”

Cora hands a twenty-dollar bill to Rose “keep the change, Rose.”

“Thanks, Cora.” Rose puts the change in the tip jar.

Dyani and Cora walk over to a makeshift table and chairs. The table was an old cable reel with an umbrella in the middle of it. The chairs were made from old whiskey barrels.

Cora sits down in her chair and looks around “I wonder how long it took Eddy to make the furniture?”

“His brother made the outside furniture for him.” Dyani knew Eddy’s brother, Hawk could make anything out of any material.

“Oh?” Cora didn’t know that.

“Yeah, Eddy’s younger brother Hawk can build anything out of all sorts of junk. He likes going around looking for material to make items from.”

“I’m going to have to remember that.” Cora could always use Hawk’s help with something or give him material from some of her cases.

‘So, how was your trip to New York, besides finding stolen artifacts?” Dyani figures that Cora got herself into some trouble or helped on a case.

“Let’s just say, it is like walking into another country. There were so many people and a lot of them looked like they could use some sort of help. While others looked like they were doing fine.”

“Well, I did read somewhere that New York use to be the entry point of people coming to America.” Dyani had a large collection of books back at her place.

After fifteen minutes “Cora, your order is up.”

“Thanks, Rose.” Cora was getting up to get the order.

“I got it, Cora.” Dyani gets up and walks over to get their order.

She comes walking back with their order and two bottles of water. It was a little humid outside and the water was nice and cold. Dyani sets their orders on the table and sits down on her seat.

Cora looks at her barbecue on a flatbread with coleslaw. She folds the flatbread and takes a bite of it. The coleslaw was sweet, and the meat was rich. A low moan escapes from her mouth as she enjoys her lunch.

After lunch, Cora says goodbye to Dyani as she drives back to her trailer. Everyone that had been staying with her, had left or was staying somewhere else. She didn’t mind, because she was a private person. She takes her mask out of her backpack and hangs it on the wall near her desk.

She sits down and checks any emails she had. She also doubles checks the inventory list against what she had in her files. Nothing was missing and matched what she had from last time.

For the rest of the afternoon, Cora does a load of laundry and hangs them out on the clothesline. After doing laundry she walks over to George’s house to get dinner going for the two of them.

Cora wipes the sweat out of her eyes as she hammers the two x fours into the wall frame. She and some young Mexican girl by the name of Samatra were working on it. The girl only stood five feet tall and had her long black hair tied back in a ponytail. Her hair had a purple hue to it, and she had emerald, green eyes. No one knew her real name or where she came from.

Lucy Todicheene had found her at the perimeter of the reservation property wearing oversized clothes and confused. The poor girl couldn’t even remember her name or what happened to her.

“That’s one down and several more to go, Samatra.” Cora looks at the wall frame they just finished.

Samatra looks over towards Cora when she speaks “how many do we have left?”

“Several more.” Cora and Samatra were going to stay busy building wall frames.

“Then, we better get working.” Samatra starts getting the wood they needed to continue.

Cora grabs some more nails and their hammers. Some of the other workers were using nail guns to work on the house, but she and Samatra still used old fashion hammers. To build the walls and such with.

For the next few hours, Cora and Samatra build the outside walls and interior walls for the house. All the flooring was done. By early afternoon, Cora and Samatra had all the outer wall frames built and they were being put up and secured. The two of them start working on the inner walls after lunch.

Cora stops and takes a sip of cold water from her waterskin. She looks over towards Samatra as she wipes the sweat from her forehead. Cora walks over to her and hands her waterskin to Samatra “here, you must be thirsty.”

Samatra accepts the waterskin and gulps it. She is surprised by how cold and refreshing the water is inside. She looks at Cora with a puzzled look on her face “where did you get this water? It’s so pure and cold.”

“Believe it or not. That waterskin was given to me by the spirits.” Cora watches Samatra’s reaction.

“What do you mean given to you by the spirits?” Samatra was puzzled by Cora’s statement.

“It means, Cora was chosen by the spirits to be their warrior.” Charlie comes walking over to them.

Samatra looks even more confused. Lucy hadn’t told her anything about the spirits.

“The spirits are what we use to worship before the white man decided to convert us to Christianity.” Charlie wasn’t a strong believer in the spirits, or the god Christianity said existed either.

“Are they real?” Samatra looks at Cora for an answer.

“Yes, they are very real and some of their children walk among us.” Cora knew the spirits were real and she had a feeling that there are several children from the spirits walking among them.

“I doubt that you’re telling the truth, Cora.” Charlie didn’t believe in the spirits or that they had children walking among them.

Cora looks at Charlie and lets her eyes flash to red and in a voice that wasn’t hers, “it doesn’t matter if you believe or not, Charlie Moon Bush. We are here and look after our children.” Cora’s eyes go back to normal.

Samatra was startled by what just happened. She had heard stories about Cora but didn’t believe them. She looks at Charlie and noticed he looked at Cora with disbelief on his face.

A smirk appears on Cora’s face. She had felt the spirits enter her and used her body to shut Charlie up. She knew how they felt and sometimes it disappoints them when their children no longer believe in them. As it was, the old languages and legends were going extinct because there was no one around to teach them, because of the white man.

Cora knew even the young have forgotten the old ways or don’t believe in them. The children of the spirits will have been taught the old ways like she was.

“Charlie, don’t ever bad mouth the spirits in front of me. I am their vessel and what I hear and see, they hear and see.” Cora didn’t mind the spirits using her. If it wasn’t for them, she would still be lost in her head.

“I have other things to do.” Charlie walks away and heads towards another house that was going up.

“Well, let’s get back to work. This house isn’t going to finish itself.” Cora starts working on the next project.

By the time everyone was stopping, Cora and Samatra were tired. Cora picks up her tools and put them in the back of her pickup truck. She bought the truck at an auto auction. It still had the original owner's name on the side of it, Hardy’s Contracting.

“Hey guys, before you leave to go home. Jack Kleiman is cooking for everyone. So, follow me back to his place.” Running Rabbit looks toward Cora and Samatra.

“Alright.” Cora looks towards Samatra “get in, you can ride with me.”

“Alright.” Samatra gets into Cora’s pickup truck.

She notices it had a GPS, CB, and a police scanner inside of it. There was also a place for Cora to put a small laptop as well. She looks at
Cora when she gets in “what do you use this truck for?”

“It’s set up to do surveillance.” Cora starts the engine and follows Running Rabbit to Jack’s place.

When she pulls up to Jack’s place, everyone that was at the construction site, was there. She finds a place she can park.

“This should be fun.” Cora looks at Samatra as she exits from the truck.

Samatra follows Cora towards Jack’s place. The smell of barbecue was in the air. Several grills were going at once.

“Oh, boy. This should be fun.” Cora walks up to Jack’s house.

Cora and Samatra mingle with everyone at the cookout. There were a lot of homemade side dishes and other foods that were made. The two women help themselves and fill their plates.

Cora and Samatra stay late into the night. Cora doesn’t drink any of the alcohol offered up. She makes sure Samatra doesn’t drink too much alcohol either.

Later in the night, Cora escorts Samatra back to Lucy’s place. The poor girl was tipsy after having two beers. Cora looks at Samatra as they walk up and into Lucy’s house.

“I’ll be by tomorrow, to pick you up.” Cora felt sorry for Samatra.

Samatra looks at Cora “thank you.” As her words come out slurred.

“You’re welcome, Samatra.” Cora makes sure Samatra makes it to her bedroom.

Once Samatra is in her bedroom and passed out on her bed. Cora walks out and drives towards her place. She notices that George was home and spots his car in the driveway.

Cora just walks into her trailer. She’ll drop in tomorrow morning and speak to George. She hangs her car keys up and slips her work boots off.

Afterward, Cora heads into her bedroom and gets ready for bed.

Cora wakes up to the sound of thunder and heavy rain pelting her trailer. Strong winds were blowing outside of her trailer, and she could feel that the spirits were upset. She steps out of her trailer in her nightshirt and panties and could feel the static electricity in the air. It clung to her body, causing all the hair on her body to stand up.

She closes her eyes and opens herself to the earth. Something was disturbing the spirits. She could feel that something wasn’t right on the reservation. It wasn’t in her area, but somewhere south of her location. She opens her eyes when she hears the cry of a large bird. She looks up into the cloudy sky and watches as a large bird fly over her, heading south. She could feel the spiritual energies coming off it.

Cora turns around and walks back into her trailer and changes into her outfit. She makes sure she has everything she needs before she leaves her trailer. She leaves a message on the front door of her trailer and walks over to George’s place to leave him a note as well. Knowing him, he probably already knows. After all, he was a shaman and a doctor as well.

She grabs her gear and secures it on her motorcycle. Normally, she would take the Camaro, but where she was going. The motorcycle would be the better choice. She grabs her mask and slip it into her pouch and put her helmet on.

The weather lightens up some for her as she leaves her home and heads south toward Arizona's Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. She could tell the spirits weren’t happy with what was going on down on the border of Mexico and Arizona.

Arizona's Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument:
Amy fires several arrows at the construction workers destroying the land to build a wall on Native American land. Her father had summoned her to stop them from disturbing several graves of her ancestors. The past six years since she was turned into the daughter of Wolf. She has been doing whatever her father and the spirits needed her to do. If that meant helping immigrants safely travel the desert from the south. So, be it. All she cared about was the land that belonged to her people now. She gave little care about what transpired outside of Native American lands.

After what was done to her when she was younger. She has developed a hatred for the government and its agents. That included their laws as well. She couldn’t understand how they could create the problem and then allow innocent people to die or be used because of their actions.

When some of the construction workers fire weapons back at her. She moves swiftly like the wolf she was. She cocks the old Winchester rifle she carries. She had found it and the six-shooters she carried on a dead cowboy. He had died from wounds he received from an Apache warrior.

She tries not to kill the men, but when they fired back at her. She listens to the words that her father told her. He told her that she shouldn’t play with her prey and that if she was going to use a white man’s weapons. To make sure she killed them.

She hits each of the men shooting at her. The training she received from Dan Two Elk kicks in. A smile appears on her face as she watches the men drop like flies. She stops firing the Winchester when she watches the other men turn and runoff.

She walks over to the construction equipment left behind and blows them up with the explosives left behind. As the machine explodes, an evil smile appears on her face. This will teach them to disturb the ancient warriors and chiefs that are buried on this land.

She looks at one of the men who shot at her and who she shot back with her rifle. He was still alive and with proper medical help, he would live. She kneels next to him and looks into his eyes. She wanted him to see her wolf eyes “go back and tell your boss to stay off these lands.”

Bobby looks into the eyes of the Native American woman looking down at him “this is a national security matter. You don’t say what or who can come here.”

Amy’s eyes flash gold “I don’t care about your white man laws or matters. This is sacred land, and you are disturbing the spirits that live here. If you come back, you will join my ancestors.”

Amy stands up and walks toward her horse. She jumps up onto his back and gallops off. The man she wounded will recover. She rides towards where she camped last night. Her life has been unusual since she became the daughter of Wolf.

Amy builds a small fire to boil some water. She takes out a soup packet she made and a small clay pot to cook in. The pot she made herself, thanks to the training she received from Tracy Kora. She was one of her teachers among the Pueblo Indians her father sent her to.

As she is fixing herself some dinner, a tall muscular Native American man appears out of the shadows. He was wearing a black well-fitted business suit.

“Hello, father.” Amy looks up with a smile on her face.

“Hello, daughter. You did well today.” Wolf was proud of his daughter.

He walks over and sits down next to her. He has been looking after her, since the experiment that created her. The people responsible for creating her and for killing her original family have answered for their crimes.

“You know that more white men will come to either protect those workers or to try and capture me, father.” Amy looks at her father.

“Let them come, daughter. The Fox has been summoned by my brothers and sister to help you. The white man government needs to learn that they can’t keep breaking their word or disturbing our ancestors and destroying our history.” Wolf couldn’t count how many times the white man has broken their word to his people.

Now they weren’t only breaking their word but disturbing the ancients that were buried. Plus, destroying artifacts of his people that have been around before the white man came to North America.

“Who is this Fox?” Amy has never heard of this person.

“She is a servant of our people. Where you are my daughter and answer to me, she answers to the others. The spirit of the Fox and Eagle
reside inside of her. Her mind was healed by the others and in return for their healing. She gave herself over to them and allowed the spirit of the Fox and Eagle join with her.” Wolf knew she wasn’t one of his. He rarely shared himself with someone.

He had been angry when he had been captured and had his blood drained from him. Then, his blood had been put inside a young girl. Who he has come to love as if she was his own?

“So, what is she supposed to do?” Amy was curious.

“She’s going to help you with the white man and make them understand that they are not welcome on our land.” Wolf knew his brothers and sisters felt the disturbance like he did.

“Cool, it will be nice to be working with someone else. So, what have you been up to, while I have been learning?” Amy knew her father traveled and visited different places.

A smile appears on Wolf’s face “I have been reminding the white man, why they aren’t welcome on our land.”

Arizona's Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument:
It’s late in the evening by the time Cora arrives where the spirits wanted her. She could see now why the spirits sent her. She gets off her motorcycle and looks around at the mangled machinery and steel barriers that they were in the process of putting up. She walks around the place, using her flashlight to light the area since she wasn’t wearing her mask.

She stops when she spots a few arrows. They weren’t modern ones but made the old fashion way. She looks at the craftmanship of the arrows. Whoever made them, took the time to use the proper materials and make their arrowheads as well.

She stands up with them in her hand and continues to look around. As she is examining the area, she hears four-wheelers coming her way.
She stops to see who was coming toward her. As the four figures on the four-wheelers get closer, she notices they were wearing military fatigues.

The four figures stop a good distance from her. They shine the lights of the four-wheelers towards her.

“Identify yourself.” Jesse came back to the site where the contractors had been attacked.

“You, first. What are you doing trespassing on Native American land?”

“I’m protecting the border from illegal immigrants. Now, why don’t you identify yourself.” Jesse had his gun trained on the figure in black.

“So, in other words, you’re trespassing on Native American land. I’m going to warn you just once. Leave, before I seriously hurt you.” Cora figures these guys had weapons on them.

“You’re outnumbered, BITCH! Now, surrender.” Jesse was ready to pull the trigger on this woman.

“Ah!” As one of the people behind Jesse gets attacked by an animal.

Cora moves as she pulls several of her throwing knives out and throws them right at Jesse. She didn’t have her mask on, but she was still pretty fast without her mystically enhance abilities. She moves just in time as the person who had stopped next to Jesse fires his gun at her. The bullet hit the ground, instead of her.

She could hear the growling sound of some animal as it took down another person. She grabs her tomahawk from her pouch and attacks the fellow who just tried to shoot her. She brings it down hard on his arm, trying to break the guy’s arm. She hears the bone crack as the tomahawk connects.

She looks over towards the first guy and notices she managed to kill the guy. Her throwing knives landed on his neck. She looks around and spots a wolf ripping the throat out of one of the guys. The first guy that had been attacked, was on the ground holding his arm where he had been mauled by the wolf.

Cora takes her motorcycle helmet off and looks down at the guy “get your men off my land, NOW!” Her eyes flash red.

William wraps his arm as quickly as he can. He secures his friends to a second four-wheeler and tows it back to where they came in at. He saw how the wolf was looking at him.

Cora watches as the man she told to leave, bandages his arm and put the other three dead men onto a second four-wheeler to tow back. The wolf that had to intervene and attacked the men stood by watching the man as well. She was getting a strange vibe off the wolf.

“Thank you for helping me, little sister.” Cora knew the wolf standing nearby was a female wolf.

“You’re welcome.” Amy morphs from her wolf form, back to her human form. She was fully clothed when she finishes her transformation.

Cora stands there stunned as she watches the wolf assume a human form. She has been told myths about some of the Native American gods walking among their people. But she never thought those myths or legends were true.

“You look surprised, Fox. Are you the champion of our people?” Amy smiles at Cora.

“Yes, but I never thought the legends were true.” Cora was shocked.

“You believe in the spirits and do their bidding, but you never thought the gods moved among our people?”

“I didn’t know Wolf had a daughter; I’m assuming that you are related to him?” Cora was still shocked.

“He is my father. I believe it might be best if we leave this area for now. My camp is nearby.” Amy mounts the four-wheeler, after securing the second one to be towed.

“Alright.” Cora puts her helmet back on and mounts her motorcycle.

She follows behind the four-wheeler as she is led back to the young woman’s camp. She had so many questions for the young woman. Why didn’t she know Wolf had a daughter?

After a while, they arrive at the campsite. She saw a modern tent and a small fire already going. There was a horse grazing nearby. She parks her motorcycle where the young woman parks the four-wheelers.

Cora takes her helmet off and leaves it on her motorcycle. She walks over to the fire and sits down on the ground. She watches as the young woman disappears inside the tent and comes back out with water skin.

“Here, take a drink. You must be thirsty from all the fighting and traveling.” Amy hands the old-style water skin to Cora.

“Thank you.” Cora accepts it and takes a drink from it.

The water tasted as if it came from a spring or creek. It had a unique taste to it. After Cora finishes taking a couple of sips from it. She hands it back to the young woman.

Amy takes the water skin and gulps down the water. She was thirsty from traveling and fighting in her wolf form. After she has her fill, she closes the water skin and looks at the young Native American woman sitting near her. She could tell that the woman had been touched by the spirits.

It was the same prickle energy she gets from herself and her father. She wonders what the story is about this woman. She looks at her face “what’s your story? How did you become a servant of the spirits?”

“They healed me and in exchange for what they did. I said I would serve them. It seemed that the spirits have always had a champion in one form or another. What is your story? How are you related to Wolf?” Cora was curious.

“I haven’t always been Wolf’s daughter. I was born to a normal family until someone got the bright idea of experimenting on a twelve-year-old girl. Somehow those people managed to trap Wolf and drain him of his blood and put it inside of me.”

“I didn’t think it was possible to catch a Native American spirit.” Cora was puzzled how you would do that.

“Well, they did and replaced my blood with his. The process they used killed me, and they left me to die out in the desert along with the corpses of the other people they did the same thing to. The thing was, instead of Wolf’s blood killing me, it changed me.”

“So, it changed you into what you are now?” Cora knew how that felt. The spirits did the same thing to her when she fully gave herself over to them.

“Yes, and I have accepted what happened to me a long time ago. I am Wolf’s daughter and I have the pledge to make the white man pay for what they have done to our ancestor's land.” Amy’s golden eyes flash because of her anger.

“Okay, can you tell me what is going on and why the spirits are being disturbed in this area?”

“The white man is building their border wall across the land and destroying ancient artifacts and disturbing our ancestors.”

“They can’t do that It’s against the law and that land belongs to our people.” Cora knew the government had no right to be doing what they are doing.

“It doesn’t matter to them. They say it's for national security, but I think it's because they are afraid. Afraid that the people coming here for a better life is going to replace them.”

“If the government didn’t create the problems going on in other countries, they wouldn’t have immigrants coming to us.” Cora knew that by giving money and supplies to other countries. That the government officials receiving them, aren’t sharing them with their citizens. As the old saying goes, the richer get richer, and the poorer get poorer.

“Agree.” Amy opens the waterskin and takes another sip of water.

“Who were those people who stopped me?”

“Racist citizens that have banded together to protect the border and kill any immigrants who try to cross it.” Amy had been tracking them and listening to their conversation.

“Great, more problems to deal with.” Cora just sighs as she tries to figure out what to do next.

When morning comes, Amy and Cora wake up. It was early in the morning. Cora stretches and listens as certain bones in her body pop and crack.

Amy looks over towards Cora “you sound like you need a tune-up.”

“I haven’t slept on the ground since I went camping with Talking Rabbit,” Cora remembers the first time she slept out under the stars while training.

“Isn’t he related to Falling Moon?” Amy knew she has heard that name before.

“That’s his cousin. His mother and father are famous Native American actors that give back to the reservation. They are working with a group out of California that establishes wells for the people in third world nations.”

“Another problem the government created during World War two with their Uranium mines polluting the ground water around here.” Amy knew about the radioactive water in the ground.

“True, but this group is digging deeper and bringing up clean fresh water that is powered by solar panels. That way our people will finally have fresh water and don’t have to travel far to get it or have the water lady come out to fill up jugs and containers.” Cora met the woman who drove the water tank truck on the reservation. There were still areas on the reservation that didn’t have running water or power.

“The stories of what our people have been through and what I have seen for myself. The government should be punished for what they have done.” Amy was filled with anger over how her people were being treated.

“That’s been tried and look where it has led us to.” Cora knew you couldn’t fight the government, except in the courts.

Amy just sighs “I can't help myself. I carry a chip on my shoulder for what the government has done to me and our people.”

“Don’t worry about it. When the time is right, things will change. Our immediate problem is stopping the border walls from being erected on our land and doing something about those citizens taking matters into their own hands.”

“You mean like us?” Amy looks at Cora when she says that.

“We are protecting our people. They are just ignorant and hateful. There’s a difference.” Cora knew what they were doing was for their people and their history.

“Let’s see if we can talk with whoever is in charge of the border wall.” Cora figures if they talk to the person who runs the border guards down here, maybe they will listen to them.

“Forget about talking to the commander of the border patrol. He’s a self-righteous asshole that believes in the bullshit coming from Washington D.C.” Amy tried talking with him and he told her to go to hell.

An evil grin appears on Cora’s face “let’s see if he’ll tell that to me.” As Cora puts her mask on.

Amy feels the mystical energies from the mask as it infuses Cora with power from their ancestors. She watches as the wooden mask becomes
flesh and fur. She could smell the difference in Cora’s scent as well.

“If you insist. Follow me.” Amy starts walking towards the shadows. She disappears inside it.

Cora follows Amy into the shadows and appears next to her in a void filled with stars. She looks at Amy “where are we?”

“Everywhere and nowhere.” Amy gives Cora the same explanation her father gave her.

Cora turns and looks at Amy “no really, where are we?”

“We’re between places. Didn’t you already know about this place?” Amy looks at Cora with a puzzled look on her face.

“No! The spirits or shaman I trained under. Never told me about this place.” Cora looks around her and everywhere she looked were bright and dim stars, while she and Amy stood in a void.

“The only way you can come here is either you’re a child of our gods or like you. Your mask infuses you with spiritual energy.” Amy starts walking towards one of the specks of light.

Cora follows behind her as they walk towards the light. She watches as Amy disappears into the light. She walks into the light and almost bumps into Amy as she exists.

She notices they were no longer where they started off at. They stood next to a building. She looks around and notices they were not in Arizona anymore.

“Where are we?” Cora looks toward Amy for an explanation.

“CBP Headquarters Washington D.C.” Amy figures they would go directly to the big boss instead and try to get something done.

Cora removes her mask and put it in her satchel slung across her shoulder. She follows Amy inside the building and towards a receptionist's desk. They noticed behind the desk was a young woman wearing a nice suit.

“How can I help you, young ladies?”

“We would like to talk with the person in charge about the border wall.” Cora pulls her Private Investigator badge out and lays it on the counter.

Holly looks at the two women. One was dressed in a skintight black outfit that hugged her body. She was wearing a pair of black knee-high Moccasins. There was a knife on her side attached to a black leather belt and a tomahawk tucked into the belt. The other woman was wearing blue jeans and some sort of tan color shirt that looked to be of some western design.

She also wore a pair of light brown moccasins as well but had no weapons present. She had a light color cowboy hat on as well. She was a little taller than the woman dressed in a black outfit.

Holly looks at the badge laying on the counter and notices it was a Private Investigator badge.

“Let me see if Mr. Colons is in, ladies.”

Holly picks the phone up and dials Mr. Colons' extension. After a few minutes, his secretary Denise Steele.

“Hello Mr. Colons officer, how can I help you?” Denise notices the call was from downstairs.

“Denise, I have two young ladies here that would like to talk to Mr. Colons. One of them is a Private Investigator from Arizona.”

“Did they say what they would like to talk to Mr. Colons about?” Denise wonders what a Private Investigator from Arizona is doing here.

Holly looks at Amy and Cora “what is your visit about?”

“The border wall you are building on Native American land,” Amy answered before Cora could.

“Denise, it’s about the border wall being built on Native American land.” Holly was looking at the two women and notices one of them had
golden color eyes like a wolf.

“Well, unfortunately, Mr. Colons has a busy schedule and he is unable to see them today. Have them make an appointment and we’ll get in touch with them.”

“Tell her if she doesn’t let us see him today, there will be trouble,” Amy says to Holly with a slight growl to her words.

“Oh boy.” Cora heard the growl in Amy’s voice. She has a feeling this was going to turn into trouble.

“Denise, they want to see him now.” Holly got a little nervous when she heard the growl from the one woman.

“Well, he’s busy.” Denise wasn’t going to budge.

“Enough of this.” Amy runs over to the stairs and starts running up them towards the floor.

Cora puts her mask on and starts running behind her. This was going to cause all sorts of problems. The two of them sprint up the stairs in no time. When they come to the floor where Mr. Colons' office was located. The door was locked and you had to have a security card to get in.

“Allow me.” Cora walks over to the door and twists the knob. And pull the door open.

Amy walks through and into a hallway. She sniffs the air and picks up several scents.

“I can’t determine which is his scent.” Amy looks around.

“Don’t worry, I have this.” Cora starts walking toward Mr. Colons' office.

When she walks into the office, there were several people and all of them look scared. They saw the woman that was named Denise. They start walking towards her “where is Mr. Colons?”

She points towards his office door.

“Thank you.” Amy walks up to the door and opens it.

Cora walks in behind her and closes the door. She takes her mask off and put it in her pouch. Both of them look at an older man that looked to be in his late thirties. He looked to be of mixed race and was wearing an expensive suit.

“What can I do for you ladies?” Mr. Colons looks at two Native American women standing before him. He notices one had golden color eyes like a wolf and the other one had normal eyes. He saw her take a mask off.

“You can stop the construction of the border wall on Native American land. You are destroying artifacts, and desecrating the graves of our ancestors. You are also destroying the ecology in that area with the construction of your border walls.”

“I’m sorry ladies, but there is nothing I can do to stop it. Those walls are necessary for the protection of this country. We are trying to stop drugs and human smuggling and trafficking from coming into and out of this country.” Mr. Colons has gone over this with several Native American tribal leaders and explained that the security of this nation comes first.

Amy balls her hands into a fist and tries to remain calm. She was getting pissed and knew she needed to not strike out in anger.

“Mr. Colons you said that you’re trying to protect this nation. Does that include the people who live here?” Cora looks at him.

“Yes, why?” Mr. Colons looks at the smaller woman dressed in a skintight suit and carrying weapons.

“Because for every construction company you send to build on Native American land, we will destroy their equipment. If they fight back, we will defend ourselves. Is the possibility of bloodshed worth the problems that will develop?” Cora let her eyes flash red.

“You do know we will protect those men.”

“I know, and to tell you the truth. You are facing two people who never have to sleep or eat if they chose not to. That land is our heritage and we will protect it with every fiber of our being. Just stop the construction of the wall there and there will be no trouble. Continue and there will be trouble like you have never experienced.” Cora’s eyes flash again and the air in the office heats up and dust twirls around in a cyclone.

“How are you doing that?” Mr. Colons has never seen anything like that.

“That’s not me, Mr. Colons. It’s my ancestors and they wanted you to know what is to come.” Cora could feel the power from her mask pulsing inside of her, even with her not wearing it.

Mr. Colons looks at both women “I’ll see what I can do. How can I contact you?”

Cora removes a card from her satchel and hands it to Mr. Colons “my cellphone number is on there, Mr. Colons.”

Mr. Colons accepts the business card. He didn’t think anyone still used them.

“Does your friend speak for you as well?” As he looks at Amy.

“Yes.” Amy turns her head towards the noise outside Mr. Colons' office door.

“It seems you ladies might be in a little trouble with your actions.”

“Nothing I haven’t been through before.” Cora turns around and put her mask on.

Amy shifts into her wolf form. As she follows next to Cora. She prepares herself as Cora opens the office door. They spotted at least six police officers out in the office with their weapons drawn.

“Put your weapons away. No one was hurt.” Cora puts some power behind her words to compel them to do as she says.

Some of the men start doing what she tells them. Others were fighting her command. She puts more power behind the command to compel them to obey. Once everyone’s weapon was put away. Amy leads them out of the office and into a dark corner. She walks into it, followed by Cora.

When they come back out, they are back at Amy’s campsite. Cora looks at Amy as she removes her mask “can you take things in there with you?”

“Yes, but you need to hold onto it while you are in there or it will through to somewhere else.” Amy has made that mistake a few times and had to go and find the items she dropped.

Cora removes her waterskin from her satchel and takes a drink from it. She hands it to Amy “here, takes a sip. You’ll like it.”

Amy accepts the waterskin and takes a nice gulp from it. The water coming out of it was cold and fresh. She looks at Amy “how is this possible?”

“It was a gift from the spirits when they gave me what I am wearing. Now, we need to work on the other problem with those citizens trespassing on our ancestor’s land.”

“Do you think Mr. Colons will do anything?” Amy looks at Cora.

“I don’t know, but the spirits wanted him to understand what he and the government are getting into. They did something with me, I never knew they could.” Cora has never done what she did.

“How long have you been their warrior?”

“Not very long and mostly I have gone after people stealing and selling our artifacts from the reservation.” Cora takes a piece of jerked buffalo meat out to munch on. She hands a piece to Amy.

“Thanks.” Amy bites into the jerked meat and likes it.

“Let’s go and see this leader of this group.”

“Okay.” Amy walks over to the four-wheeler they took the other day.

Cora joins her and the two of them head towards the leader of the border guard citizens.

Creativity Alliance, Mobile Command Unit:
“This is a fine mess you've gotten us into.” Amy looks at Cora as they are stopped and surrounded by at least fifteen men dressed in Army desert uniforms.

“Me? This is your area.” Cora wishes she put her mask on, before coming to see these assholes.

“You bitches have a lot of nerve coming here after what you did to our people.” Bob looks at the two Native American women riding the four-wheeler they took from their brothers Joseph and Wayne.

“We want to speak to whoever is in charge of this group.” Cora was looking at the scruffy-looking man pointing his A.R. 15 at them.

“What for?” Bob didn’t trust these Native American bitches.

“That’s between us and your leader. So, be a good little soldier and take us to your commander.” Cora puts a little bit of power behind her words to command the guy.

Amy felt Cora do the same trick she did when they were in Washington D.C. She watches to see if the guy submits to her command. She could see the guy fighting with the command.

“Look, we are here to only talk. Anything more would be stupid considering you have more men and guns than we do.”

“Get off that four-wheeler.” Bob was watching the women carefully.

Cora and Amy dismount from the four-wheeler and stand near it. Amy knew they might have to walk back to the campsite.

“Search them.” Bob looks over toward two of his men.

The two men sling their AR 15’s and walk over to Cora and Amy. They pat both women down for weapons and don’t find any.

“They are clean, or as clean Native American women get,” Rodney smirks at Amy.

Amy wanted to wipe that smirk off the guy’s face. She has to remind herself they came here to talk and not to kill anyone.

“Alright, follow me.” Bob turns to lead Amy and Cora back to the Commander.

Four of the fifteen guys that surrounded them before were guarding them. While they were walking toward a huge command tent. Cora was taking in everything going on around. She notices there were at least six, ten feet tall by twenty-five feet cages with immigrants in them.

“What’s with putting those people in the cages?”

“They’re illegal immigrants that thought they could sneak into our country. They are going to be shipped back to the shit hole countries they came from.” Charles hated illegal immigrants coming into the US and taking jobs from hard-working Americans.

“You mean as the white man did to the Native Americans when your ancestors came to North America?” Cora looks at the guys that spoke.

“It was my ancestor's God-given rights to take this land from you savages.” Charles was tired of the Native Americans complaining about how they were treated.

Cora was going to respond to Charles's comment, but something inside her told her not to. This wasn’t the time or the place for her to correct this person. His time was coming and would get his dues.

Cora and Amy are escorted inside the big command tent. The place had all sorts of equipment setup so they could patrol the border with drones and had weapons as well. It also looked like they were tied in with the sensors the border patrol had at their command post.

They are escorted towards the back of the command tent where a huge rough-looking guy was sitting. He was smoking a cigar and there was a fresh cup of black coffee sitting on his desk. He looked like he could eat a steel rod and spit out a chain already made from it.

“Are these the ladies that took Joseph and Wayne's four-wheeler and injured several of our men?” Owen looks at the two Native American women standing before his desk.

One was shorter than the other and was dressed all in black. The other one was dressed in faded blue jeans and wearing worn-looking cowboy boots.

“Yes sir. These are the two bitches that injured our men and dared to come riding to our campsite on the four-wheeler.” An evil smirk appears on Bob’s face.

“Why did you come to our camp?”

“To talk to you and ask you to stay off Native American territory.” Cora could see Amy wanted to cut loose on them, but she was being patient.

“Why do you want us to stop patrolling your territory? Don’t you know that is where a lot of those immigrants come through? It’s one of their corridors of travel and since you savages aren’t stopping them. It has become our job to close that corridor.” Owen knew a lot of immigrants travel across Native American land.

“We appreciate that you felt that it was your duty to help us. However, we are now letting you know, that your help is no longer needed.”

Owen stands up displaying his full seven feet tall muscular frame. He blows smoke towards their face.

“I hate to tell you this, bitch. But I and my men aren’t going to stop patrolling on your territory. We are going to stop every god damn illegal
immigrant trying to come into the United States. On top of that, I don’t trust your lying tongue.” Owen wasn’t going to have two female Native American bitches telling him what he can or can’t do to protect the US from invaders.

A smirk appears on Amy’s face when the guy accuses them of lying.

“What’s so funny to you, bitch?” Bob had noticed the smirk.

“You do know history has proven that the white man was born with a forked tongue with all the lies and broken promises you have committed.” Amy looks at Bob.

“Why you bitch!” Bob goes to strike Amy.

He is grabbed by Cora and tossed like he weighs nothing towards another guy. She pulls her mask out of her messenger bag and put it on.

One of the other guards tries to strike Amy, but she blocks him. He tries again and his arm is caught by hers. She squeezes hard and snaps his bone with just her hand. He lets out a scream.

Owen jumps over his desk toward the woman wearing the black fox mask. He manages to punch her in the face with his fist. He follows up with a punch to her chest.

Cora has her bell rung by the punch to her face. She felt the blow through the mask, which was unusual because she never feels anything to her face through the mask. She goes flying backward from the punch to her chest. She feels two of her ribs break from the punch.

She picks herself up from the floor of the tent and pulls several obsidian knives from her web pouch and throws them at the men coming toward her. As she stands up, she feels the sharp pain from her ribs. She looks over towards Amy and she was barely holding her own against the Commander, Bob, and Bill.

As she moves to help Amy, she gets tackled from the side by a guy and feels her ribs poke her in the muscles. The guy was punching her in the face as he sits on top of her. Two other guys had come over and begin kicking her in her head and side.

A slight growl comes out of Cora’s mouth as she grabs the hands of the guy punching her. She squeezes them and his bones shatter. She manages to pull her bowie knife from its hidden holster and stabs one of the guys in his foot with it. She brings it up and slices another guy’s leg as she manages to stand up. She was pissed and her eyes were glowing red.

People were going to die today. She grips her Bowie knife tightly and pulls out another one she recently acquired. She charges toward a group of guys before they could shoot her.

Amy manages to snag the side arm Bob was carrying and shoot him with it. She shoots the Commander and watches as the bullets bounce off his skin.

“Fuck!” She stays out of his reach as he goes to grab her.

She feels a bullet past right by her head. She turns around and shoots the person who shot at her. She goes flying forward towards a computerized board showing the border and where the sensors were. She lands face-first onto the floor of the tent. Something hard had hit her in the back. Because her back was hurting from whatever was thrown at her. She stands up and notices several guys have their rifles lowered at her.

Just as they were about to open fire on Amy. Cora strikes all of them in the back with obsidian throwing knives.

“Thanks!” Amy could tell Cora’s fox eyes were glowing bright red.

“You’re welcome. Here, take these.” Cora tosses Amy two tomahawks.

Amy catches them as an evil smile appears on her face. She tucks the gun she was using behind her back. She twirls the tomahawks in her hands and goes to work with them.

Owen goes after the woman who looks like a humanoid fox. He manages to get two more hits on her before she gets closer to him. She was avoiding his punches and when he tries to grab her.

Cora steps in close to the Commander to keep him from hitting her and grabbing her. She was far more agile than he was. She slices her knife across his chest and it does nothing. She tries the other one and it doesn’t do anything.

“You can’t hurt me with your knives, bitch.” Owen tries to grab the woman’s hands, but she twisted out of his grip.

“These aren’t my only knives, jackal breath.” Cora switches out her bowie knives for her obsidian ones. They were blessed by a shaman on the reservation.

“Do you think they are going to hurt me, bitch?” Owen tries grabbing Cora again and manages to lock his hand around her right arm.

A smile appears on Cora’s fox face as she slices across his arm. The skin parts with the sharp edge of her obsidian knife. She feels him let go of her right arm, as she slices his arm again.

Owen couldn’t believe that he just got cut by volcanic glass. He tries to avoid and stop Cora from getting closer to him, but she manages. Each time she does, she cuts him with those damn knives of hers.

Just as Cora was about to strike Owen again with her knife. She gets shot in the shoulder. The bullet doesn’t penetrate her suit, but it hurts like hell.

“Cora, retreat.” Amy starts running towards an opening in the tent wall. She changes into her wolf form and jumps through the opening.

Cora trips Owen up and slices the tent wall. She jumps through and spots a guy on a dirt bike. She jumps kicks him off while grabbing his gun. She feels a burning sensation as she holds the gun in her hand. She shoots the locks off on the cages as she rides past them. After all the cages are open, she tosses the gun, before it does more damage to her hand.

Cora feels three bullets hit her back as she dodges the incoming gunfire. She grits her teeth as she races away from the campsite. She was in pain and it was taking everything she had not to give into it.

She takes an out and about way getting back to Amy’s campsite. When she arrives at the campsite, she spots Amy bandaging some wounds she received. She parks the dirt bike over near her motorcycle.

“I didn’t know you got hurt or could be hurt.” Cora walks over to Amy.

“I might be the daughter of a Native American god, but I can still be hurt. By tomorrow, I’ll be fully healed.” Amy applies a salve to her wounds.

Cora pulls out her medical kit from her messenger bag. It had both conventional and Native American medicine in it.

“Here, let me help you with your ribs.” Amy saw Cora taking her bodysuit off.

“Thanks.”

“You’re welcome. Now, this is going to hurt.” Amy pushes Cora’s broken ribs back into place.

She applies an ointment she spotted among Cora’s medical stuff and apply it. Amy tends to Cora’s injuries and couldn’t believe how hurt she was.

“I thought your suit and mask protect you?” Amy saw how bloody Cora’s face was.

“They do, but somehow that bastard was hitting me hard enough that the mask and suit couldn’t stop it.” Cora couldn’t believe she felt the punches in her face.

“There, that should do it. I’m going to make us some tea.”

“Alright.” Cora was feeling better. She watches Amy build a fire and heat some water.

“I want to know why my bowie knives wouldn’t cut that general or why the bullets you fired at him didn’t hurt him either.” Cora blows on the tea Amy made for her. It was supposed to help her heal faster.

“But you did manage to hurt him.” Amy looks at Cora.

“Yeah, but I had to use my obsidian blades.” Cora was surprised they managed to cut him.

“I wonder why your obsidian blades worked against him, but your normal blades didn’t, and why my bullets didn’t.” Amy was thinking about that.

“The only difference between them is one is made from volcanic glass and blessed by a shaman I trust. The bowies aren’t blessed.” Cora knew George blessed her obsidian blades.

“Maybe he’s valuable to the blessing on the knives.” Amy couldn’t think of anything else it might be.

“Well, now they are going to be expecting us from now on.” Cora takes a sip from her herbal tea.

The tea had a bitter taste to it. Cora refused to drink certain teas George made for her because of the taste. She takes another sip of the tea and makes a face.

Amy saw the look on Cora’s face when she sipped the tea. She remembers the first time her father gave her a cup of the same tea. She didn’t want to drink it either, because of the taste.

“Well, we just have to use the night to our advantage. Isn’t the night your friend?” Amy looks at Cora’s face.

“Yes, the night is my element.” Cora knew she would be more effective at night.

“Then we wait. Until then, you need to drink your tea.” Amy gives Cora the same look her mentor gave her.

“Fine.” Cora drinks the nasty-tasting tea down.

Cora finds a nice area to lay down, while Amy kept watch. She was going to need the rest for the healing properties of the tea to work. She falls into a deep space instantly.

Amy listens to Cora’s heartbeat and notices when it changes. She watches as Cora falls instantly asleep. While Cora sleeps, Amy prepares items to take with them tonight. She does wonder what the general is. He shouldn’t be as tough as he is. She thinks about that why she works on some arrows.

Cora feels the fox spirit that inhabits her mask join with her and start healing her injuries. The spiritual energies of the fox merge with her body. She knew the spirit wanted revenge for letting one of its own be hurt and for what the general did to her mask.

Amy glances over towards Cora and notices the fox spirit merging with her unconscious form. She could feel the spiritual energy as if merged with Cora’s body and healed her injuries. Then she felt something else, the spirit wanted revenge for what was done to Cora. She watches as
Cora’s mask glows and reforms itself into a different shape.

She didn’t know the spirits could do that. The mask had been made by a shaman a long time ago. So she figured it would take a shaman to redo it.

Hours later, Cora wakes up feeling energized and ready to go hunting. Cora looks over towards Amy “I’m feeling energized.”

“Well, you might want to eat, before we go. It’s going to be a long night.”

“I hope so. I want payback for what that General did to me.” Cora walks over to where Amy was sitting and sits down next to her.

“Here’s eat this and when your done, we’ll go and have some fun with him and his men tonight.” Amy hands Cora a bowl of stew she had worked on while Cora slept.

Cora takes a bite of the stew and couldn’t place the taste of the meat. She looks at Amy “what type of meat is this?”

“Rattlesnake.” Amy looks at Cora when she says that.

A weird look appears on Cora’s face. She has never had rattlesnake before. She was going to need to spend more time out off the reservation and learned these skills.

“Okay, it has an unusual taste to it.” Cora takes another bite of the stew.

A smile appears on Amy’s face as she eats her stew. Once they were done eating, Cora and Amy clean their campsite up and start heading towards the general’s camp again. When they get close to it, they could tell the general had all the lights in the camp turned on.

“This should be easy.” Amy unslings her rifle and starts shooting the lights out.

“Time for me to have some fun.” Cora moves quickly and quietly down to the camp.

As the campsite starts losing lights. Cora puts her mask on as gunfire could be heard being returned towards Amy’s position. An evil smile appears on her fox-looking face as she tosses several smoke grenades she pulls out of her messenger bag. She uses the cover of darkness and the smoke to start knocking people out with her tomahawks. She avoids gunfire as some soldiers fire wildly into the smoke cloud where she is hiding. She moves quickly as Amy fires from a different direction.

Cora uses the cover of darkness and the distraction going on around her to knock out several more soldiers. She could hear the general giving orders to send people out and to let the drones fly as well. Cora looks around for the main generators and notices several guards have been placed around them. She takes the guards out with her blowgun. She uses the grenades they are wearing and set them up to blow up the generators.

Cora moves quietly and freezes as she hears movement. A soldier passes just inches in front of her as he runs towards where the generators were. She waits a few seconds before moving and set a few explosives up to blow up their fuel depot. She hauls ass, just before it explodes.

Command Tent:
Commander Owens had just sat down at his desk when hears gunfire. A few minutes after that, there is an explosion. Smoke starts drifting into the command center. There is a second explosion and the lights go out. There is a second one and the fuel depot goes up.

“FIND THOSE BITCHES AND BRING THEM BACK DEAD!” The cuts that had been healing reopened when screaming those words.

“Ah, the big dumb mound of the flesh is scarred of two women.” Cora looks at the Commander.

Several guards try to attack her, but she moves too quickly for them. She knocks them out with the tomahawks in her hands.

“Let’s see you dodge this.” Owens fires his gun at Cora.

Cora throws one of the tomahawks at Owen and twists to the side as the bullet slides across her chest. She takes several of her obsidian throwing knives out and starts throwing them at the commander.

Owens tries to block the knives coming in toward him but instead gets hit by them. They bury themselves into his skin.

“Not doing so well, are you?” Cora had managed to get close to Owens.

Owen turns around to punch Cora, but she had moved. He feels a sharp pain as his stomach is sliced open by two blades. He tries to stop another hit to his flesh, but the humanoid fox attacking him was moving too fast.

Owens falls to his knees and spots the humanoid fox standing in front of him. Its eyes were glowing red. An evil grin appears on its muzzle as it waves goodbye to him.

Owens wonders why the fox figure was waving goodbye to him, as pain shoots throughout his body. He couldn’t move at all. He watches as the fox figure comes close to him “my blades were coated in rattlesnake venom.” As Cora removes the blades, she threw at him from his body.

She turns and walks away afterward.

“Come on and hurry!” Cora rushes a bunch of immigrants she and Amy found crossing from Mexico.

Some abusive coyotes were leading them. Several of the men had weird tattoos covering their faces and neck. She saw one of the men leading the group pulling on a rope attached to a collar on one woman.

She took the guy out with her bow while Amy was in her wolf form attacking the other men. Between the two of them, they managed to take the coyotes out. Now, they were being chased by members of the Creativity Alliance. They had called more of their members in after the defeat and destruction of their base.

Their members brought in military equipment and military-style drones to sniff them out this time. The drones were too high for them to shoot down. Plus, they weren’t being launched from the site either. So, Cora and Amy had to track down where they were being stored and refuel from and attack them there.

Cora spots several militia men shooting at Amy. She throws the boomerang she just recently acquired. She took it off one of the Alliance men. He had used it against her several times, so she knew how it worked. It took her a few tries to master it, but she managed.

The person she threw the boomerang at goes down. She summons the boomerang back to her. She throws it again and strikes another militia person. She spots Amy attacking several men in her wolf form.

Cora runs over to Amy “we need to get out of here and get these people back to our camp.”

Amy finishes off the soldier that attacked her and ran off with Cora. She helps guide the group of people back to the makeshift camp they have set up to help any immigrants they come across. The center was on Native American land, and there was nothing ICE or Border patrol could do about it. Suppose they trespass on the ground. They had the right to arrest them.

By the time Amy and Cora get everyone back to the camp. They were tired, hungry, and thirsty. Cora selects several women from the group and leads them to where they have food and water stored. Amy has been raiding the Alliances supplies. Also, several Native American people have been bringing supplies to help.

Cora watches as Amy changes back into her human form. She still couldn’t get over Amy being covered when she went from wolf to human.

“You know, I’m jealous that you can do that.” Cora had lifted her mask off her face.

She was surprised that her mask had changed shape. She liked how it sat against her face like a second skin. Plus, it has given her more abilities than she had before.

Amy looks at Cora “the cost for this ability was very high.”

“Still, I wish I could turn into a fox or something.”

“Who knows, maybe your wish will come true.” A smile appears on Amy’s face as she goes about helping the people they brought back.

Cora goes over to the woman with a collar around her neck and removes it. She looks at the woman “why was this on you?”

Romina looks at the woman who had helped rescue her. She had been wearing an ancient fox mask but now looked differently.

“I was going to be used to force my cousin to help the cartels to smuggle their drugs to the United States.” Romina looks at the young woman.

“What does your cousin do?” Cora was curious.

“He keeps track of all the Coast Guard ships and their patrol routes.” Romina was proud of her cousin and knew he was working on bringing her to the United States.

“We’ll need to inform your cousin’s commanding officer.”

“Won’t he get into trouble?” Romina didn’t want to get her cousin in trouble.

“No, your cousin will be fine. Now, you look like you could use some food and something cool to drink.”

“Thank you.”

Cora escorts Romina over to where some of the women are serving food. There were several coolers with ice and various drinks in them.

“Take whatever you like.” Cora turns and walks over to Army.

“We need to call Irene and have her and her people come out here and transport these people to safety.” Cora knew Irene could help these people.

“Alright. What will you do about the other woman and her situation?”

“I’ll call my contacts in the US Marshals and see if they can help her.” Cora pulls out the satellite phone they took from the Alliance.

She called the new US Marshal agents she was working with now. They were replacing the ones take got killed during her first mission. She walks off and talks with US Marshal Sharice Herrington.

Amy watches as all the men, women, and a few teenagers eat and relax. She knew these people were entering the country illegally but had nowhere else to go. She walks over and mingles with them to learn more about them.

Several Days Later:
The US Marshals show up to help Romina out and see what they can do to help the other people. Some Border agents and members from the Alliance show up to demand the people be sent back to Mexico.

Cora and Amy tell both groups to go to hell. Amy informs them that as long as the Immigrants are on Native American land, there isn’t anything they can do about it. She dares them to do something stupid.

Cora was standing nearby with her tomahawks in her hands. She was daring both representatives to do something.

“You don’t make that call.” Border agent Horton.

“And you have no authority here on Native American lands.” Amy wasn’t going to let a border agent boss her around.

“Gentlemen, until some compromise can be reached. Amy and I will continue to help any immigrants that come across the border. So, I suggest you find a way to solve this matter as long as they are here on Native American land. You can’t touch them if you decide to ignore our sovereignty. We will be taking this fight to you and your leaders. That includes your representatives in congress and your senators as well.” Amy made sure her eyes flashed gold when she said that.

“I would listen to what she says. You don’t want to piss her off or me.” Cora lets her eyes flash as well.

The Allegiance representative was about to say something when the border agent Horton stopped him. He looks at Mr. Moss, “don’t say another word.”

“But!” Mark was about to tell these two women to go to hell.

“No buts. It looks like the only way this matter will be handled is in congress.”

“Or the courts.” Moss looks at the two women.

“Your courts don’t mean anything to me. They are just as corrupt as your leaders.” Amy didn’t believe in white man’s courts.

“We’ll see.”

Cora and Amy watch as the two men walk away. Cora looks towards Amy “you know this isn’t the end of this.”

“I know.” Amy had a feeling things were about to get worst for them.

The next day, Amy watches as the people at their camp wake up and move around. Cora informed Amy that she was going to see if she could get help from the council to help protect and take care of the immigrants at their camp. Cora said she might be gone for a few days.

Amy helps some women in the group fix something to eat for everyone. The men went out and collected firewood for the camp. Some of them weren’t sure what they were going to do. They had hoped to come to America to make a better life for themselves and send money back home to their family.

Amy leaves to patrol the border a little further out. As she is patrolling, she comes under fire. She takes shelter behind some boulders and peeks her head out to see who was shooting at her. A bullet hits the boulder near her head, as she ducks back around.

Whoever was firing at her was doing it from a distance. She changes into her wolf form and darts out from her hiding place. A bullet barely misses her as it hits the ground right behind her. She uses a trick her father taught her to blend in with her surroundings. It would make it harder for whoever was shooting at her to hit her.

Harry was hired by Mark to track down two women and permanently get rid of them. They were allowing illegal immigrants across the border and protecting them. Mark had given him a dossier on both women and what they were capable of. He had studied the dossier and decided to go out and see if he couldn’t find them.

He was lucky that he spotted the shape changer first. He spots a wolf sprint out from behind the boulder the woman had taken cover behind. He knew it was her from the dossier that Mark gave him. He fires at the wolf again and misses. As he goes to fire again, the wolf disappears from his sight.

He scans the area looking for the wolf but doesn’t see it. He stays where he is, hoping it will stick its head out. He spots some dirt move and fires at the spot. He hears his bullet ricochet off the ground and hit a nearby rock.

Amy felt the bullet as it bounced off the ground and hit right behind her. It had skimmed her flesh on her left rear quarter. She wanted to growl, but her father told her never to let her prey know you were coming for them.

She manages to sneak to the shooter’s position and notices he is laid out like a sniper. She changes forms and picks up a nearby rock without making a sound. She brings the rock down hard on top of the guy’s head.

“Take that, you bastard!” She brings the rock down again and again until the man’s head is smashed.

She drops the rock nearby and starts searching his body. She finds his cell phone and uses his finger to unlock the damn thing. She scrolls through it and finds the dossier he received from the Creative Alliance. She gathers everything she finds on his body up and puts it in the back he had been wearing along with the camel pack as well.

She collects his weapons and what other gear he has and heads back to camp. He deserved what he got by coming after her.

Native American Council:
Cora looks at the gathered leaders of the different tribes that inhabit the land on the reservation. She looks at Chief George Running Rabbit.
“Gentlemen, I come to you today to ask for volunteers and support you can provide on your border. These last few days, I and my companion have been preventing the government and a hate group from hurting the illegal immigrants that have been coming onto reservation land. It has now gotten to the point that just the two of us can’t protect and care for these people. We need your help to continue our work.” Cora looks at all the Chiefs as they look at her.

“You know you brought this onto yourself, Cora Black.” Shawn Floating Cloud looks at Cora.

“Mr. Floating Cloud, the spirits brought this matter to my attention. They were tired of the white man breaking his word and killing innocent people whose only crime was to live a safe life. I know there is more to this, but the bottom line. Is that the spirits felt this matter needed my attention, and now I need your help? This has gone beyond what I and my partner can handle.”

“And what exactly do you suggest we do, Mrs. Black?” Sera Talking Deer looks at Cora. She has never been happy that Mrs. Black was chosen by the spirits. She felt that someone else among them should have been selected.

“Defend your border from the government and stop the anti-immigration group from harming these people. Or at least provide resources to help out.”

“Who is your other partner, Mrs. Black?” Jay Midthunder looks at Cora.

“Amy Wolf, daughter of Wolf himself.”

“Our old gods don’t have any children. Mrs. Black.” Jay didn’t believe her.

A smirk appears on her face “do you want to say that to his face, Mr. Midthunder?”

“Please, Mr. Midthunder. I would like very much to hear your opinion” Wolf comes walking into the chamber where Cora was standing. She knew the spirits had sent him.

All the chiefs in the room look at the well-dressed Native American man walking into the chamber. He was a well-built man and stood almost seven feet tall. He also had a presence about him that energized the air in the chamber.

Mr. Midthunder looks at the vast man that just appeared out of the shadows. He had never seen the man before, but he could feel the energy drifting around in the chamber.

“Who are you, sir?”

“You must be stupid, Mr. Midthunder.” Cora looked at Jay Midthunder like he had lost it.

Wolf just smiled, showing his pearly teeth. His eyes flash gold as he stands next to Cora and places his hand on her shoulder. He could feel the fox and eagle spirit inside of her.

“I have to agree with Mrs. Black.” Chris Cody and the others sitting near him knew who this man was.

“What can we do for you, Wolf?” The oldest chief among the council looks at Wolf with respect.

“You can help my daughter and the servant of the spirits here by protecting your land and helping the innocent.” Wolf felt he needed to make an appearance.

“Why do you show yourself now when we have been trying to summon you in the past?” Morningstar Littlefeather looked at Wolf as he stood next to Cora.

“Because sometimes a father has to let his children find their path. Also, your beliefs in us have weaned. You have been converted to a Christian god and have forgotten your past.” Wolf knew much of their heritage had been lost because people had forgotten who they were.

The stories of his people are no longer passed down, and the belief in him and the others have all but been forgotten.

“We will need a minute to speak among ourselves.” Gil Greyeyes nods his head to Wolf.

Wolf just waves his hand. He and Cora disappear from their sight but remain. Cora so liked what Wolf did.

“What did you do?” She looks at him.

“Something you will learn soon. We are still here, but they can’t hear or see us, but we can hear them.”

“That is so cool.” Cora couldn’t wait to learn that trick.

The two of them listen to the discussion as all the representatives try to talk over each other. It takes Gil Greyeyes to bring reason to the chaos. He reminds them that Wolf was their god and Cora was a vessel for the spirits. They could have ordered them, but they were asking nicely.

“You mean I could have demanded that they help out?” Cora looks at Wolf for clarification.

“Yes, because you are a representative of us, my dear. You speak with our voice and strength.”

“Okay, I’ve just learned something new today.”

A smirk appears on Wolf’s face “I think its time to make our presence known again.”

Everyone watches as Wolf and Mrs. Black appear where they had been standing before. Gil Greyeyes stands up "we will help you Cora Black. Also, we will send supplies your camp."

"Thank you." a smile appears on Cora's face.

Back At the Campsite:
Amy walks around looking at all the immigrants camping out at the campsite that she and Cora have been using. She couldn’t believe how many people had left their home countries to come to the USA. She helps a few of the women fix meals and learn from them.

On the third day, Amy gets a bad feeling while out exploring. Something didn’t feel right to her. She explores the area carefully, and just as she is about to give up. She feels a sharp pain as a bullet hits her upper left shoulder. Another bullet follows the second one and hits her in the back.

Amy drops to the ground in pain. Blood seeps from her wounds as she summons her energy to force the bullets out of her body. She could feel them move as they pushed their way out of her body.

“Where’s your friend, bitch?” Alvin looks down at the woman he had been hired to take out.

Amy looks up at the man standing a few feet away from her. He was wearing army fatigues and had a gun pointed toward her head.

“She’s right behind you.” An evil smile appears on Amy’s face.

She had seen Cora stepping out of the shadows while the guy was talking. She was trying to keep his attention to herself, so he didn’t notice Cora.

“Do you think I’ll fall for that old trick?”

A smile appears on Cora’s as she punches the guy in the middle of his back. She puts enough force behind her punch to break the guy’s back, but not to put her fist through his body.

“You know, you should have listened to her.” Cora looks at the guy in the camouflage fatigues.

Alvin had lost his gun when he fell forward. Now, he couldn’t feel his legs or make them move.

“What did you do to me?” Alvin manages to roll over to look at Cora.

“I took away your ability to walk. After everything, you planned on doing to my friend. You don’t deserve to be treated like a normal person.”

Amy stands up and looks down at the guy that tried to kill her. She looks at the guy. “I should shoot you myself or tear your heart out of your chest.”

“I wouldn’t blame you if you did, Amy.” Cora was ready to kill the guy herself.

An evil smile appears on Cora’s fox face. Her eyes flash gold as she looks at the man sent to kill her and Cora.

“Who sent you to kill us?” Amy looks at the guy that shot her.

“Who do you think? You are allowing murderers and rapists to cross into the United States illegally.”

“Not all immigrants are murderers and rapists. You are no different from the assholes helping the border agents.”

“I’m a patriot trying to protect my country, where you bitches are trying to destroy it.” Alvin was pissed that the fox face woman had gotten the best of him.

Cora kneels down and looks Alvin directly in the eye “I should kill you, but leaving you like this will teach you a lesson.” As she stands up.

“You know we have to carry him back to camp, now?” Amy looks at Cora when she says that.

“No problem. This sack of shit isn’t going to be able to do anything, anyway.” Cora knocks Alvin out with a dart from her pouch.

She picks him up off the ground, while Amy collects his gear. They backtrack the path he took to hunt them down. He had a military-style desert patrol vehicle.

“Why do people like him have better toys then us?” Cora looks at Amy when she asks that.

“I don’t know, but let’s head back to camp.” Amy gets behind the steering wheel.

Cora secures their prisoner and hops on. She looks down at Amy “let’s see what this thing can do.”

It takes Amy a few minutes to familiarize herself with how the DPV works. She manages to start it up and drive back to camp. While she is
driving, she wonders if Cora managed to find some help.

She pulls into camp and park the DPV near Cora’s motorcycle. Her horse was in its makeshift corral area. She gets out first and help Cora with the person hired to kill them.

“Did you manage to get us some help?” Amy looks at Cora as they carried the unconscious guy.

“Yep, and it will be here tomorrow morning. Also, once the help we need shows up. I think we need to take another trip to Washington D.C. and start knocking some heads together to get congress to do something about the problem here as well.”

“That would be a waste of time. All they care about is their precious job and staying in power. They don’t give a damn about the common man or the problems we face.”

“You might be right, but we need to make some noise.” Cora knew she might have to go to the extreme.

“Well, count me out. You can go and do what you can. I’ll stay here and coordinate everything.” Amy had no patience with the morons in Washington D.C.”

“All right. I’ll see what I can do.” Cora makes Alvin as comfortable as she can.

Afterward, she goes with Amy to help out around the camp.

United States Capitol Washington, D.C. United States of America:
Cora looks at all the Representatives as she stood before them. She could already see that most of them were so out of touch with reality. She had walked out of the shadows during a speech from one of the Representatives. He was complaining about how the president was handling the border and how immigrants coming across have increased.

The person speaking looks at Cora as she walks out of the shadows into the chamber. All the Representatives wanted to know who this person was.

“Who are you?” The representative from Texas looks at Cora.

Cora was still wearing her fox mask. She looks at the Representative “it doesn’t matter who I am. All that matters right now, the congressman is the fact that you and all the other representatives here need to do something about helping the people coming across the border.”

“We’re not here to help them. They need to be stopped.” Representative Reign looks at the fox-faced woman.

“They are running from countries that have suppressed them and taken away their rights. It’s because of the deals this country has made with its government, and congressman. They are coming here for help and a better life.”

“They are bringing weapons and drugs into this country, whomever you are.” Representative Reign didn’t like whomever this person is.

“Who are you, Mrs.?” Mendoza looks towards Cora.

“Black. Just Black, Mr. Mendoza.” Cora looks at Mendoza when she response

“Well, Mrs. Black. You do know you’re trespassing, don’t you.”

Cora notices some aides and other representatives trying to leave the chamber. She says a word and every door leading out of the chambers closes and secures itself. She looks back towards Mr. Mendoza “you might want to add kidnapping and holding you and your colleague hostage.”

“Who are you to tell us what to do?” Representative Taylor looks towards Cora as she stood near Rep. Reign.

“It seems someone needs to. All you representatives have done since being elected is act like spoiled children. Now, I’m going to say this only once. No one is going to leave this chamber until something can be done about the immigrants and these so called patriots patrolling the border.”

“You don’t have the right to hold us hostage.” Representative Taylor gets up out of her seat and marches over to Cora.

A smirk appears on Cora’s covered face. She watches as the congresswoman marches up to her. She could see the determined and mean look on her face.

“Congresswoman, confronting me is a bad idea. I have very little tolerance for stupidity.” Cora lets her eyes flash red.

“I don’t care. You wouldn’t strike a member of Congress.” Rep Taylor didn’t flinch when the eyes of the figure flashed red.

“You’re right, Mrs. Taylor. However, I can make you relive what these immigrants have gone through.” Cora touches Mrs. Taylor’s forehead with one of her fingers and sends a memory of one of the immigrants she helped into the rep’s mind.

Mrs. Taylor starts reliving what the person and her children went through. She was about to fall when the Representative from Texas catches her. He looks at Cora “what did you do to her?”

“She’s reliving a memory of what one of the immigrants I helped went through. Maybe now, you clowns will do what needs to be done to help
them out.”

Back At the Campsite:
Amy helps several of the women they rescued. The arrangements Cora made with the tribal council had shown up to help. Their little camp was growing with all the people showing up to either help the immigrants or bring supplies.

She walks around the campsite and inhales the aroma of food being cooked. She looks over towards the tent area where the food was being prepared and smiles as she watches the women over there cook food. She grabs her waterskin and takes a sip from it. She managed to dig down and hit some fresh water, so everyone would have water. An area had been set up to be used as a bathroom.

She moves out of the way as some young kids run by her. The guy that had been paid to kill her and Cora was taken away by the tribal police. They were leaving a few officers at the camp to help protect everyone.

Amy walks away from the camp and finds a nice and quiet spot to think. She sits down on a boulder and looks out towards the desert. She knew Cora was going to have a fight on her hands with congress. Sometimes she wonders about the democratic system and how nothing seems to get accomplished.

“Do you mind some company?” Dulce had spotted Amy walking away from the camp and followed her. She hadn’t seen the other woman anywhere.

Amy looks over towards the woman “please join me.”

Amy didn’t mind having some company. She has seen the woman around the camp.

“Thanks.” Dulce walks over and sits next to Amy.

“Is everything okay?” Amy looks at the young woman.

“Yes, I saw you walking away from camp and was curious.” Dulce looks into Amy’s eyes and notices how they were gold.

“I just needed to get away for a while.” Amy didn’t mind the young woman looking into her eyes.

“Oh, well it’s nice of you and your friend to help us out. Most people we have met so far, haven’t been very nice.”

“That’s because they have been brainwashed to believe that all immigrants are criminals. They don’t understand the sacrifice and burdens you encounter leaving your old life in the hope to start a new one.”

“And you and your friend do?” Dulce looks at Amy to try to understand her.

“Yes, I and my friend do. We are sort of outclass among our own people.” Amy knew she was different from most of the people on the reservation.

Dulce just sits quietly next to Amy and enjoys the peacefulness of the scenery.

Amy’s Secret Cave:
Dulce watches as Amy walks around inside the cave. She loved watching Amy’s naked body as she moved around. She also loved the cave Amy brought her to a few weeks after meeting her. It seemed that the two of them had something in common with each other.

She was leaning back against the rock rim of the pool of water and was enjoying the warmth of the water. In the last few weeks, the weather has been changing out in the desert. Fall had finally arrived, followed by a huge snowfall. The thing was, she didn’t feel any cold air coming into the cave from the huge opening in the roof.

The weather inside the cave was very tropical, and the water in the pool was just the right temperature. She had been surprised when Amy brought her to the cave. She knew Amy retreated here when the world became too much for her or she wanted to be by herself.

“What are you making?” Dulce moves over to the rim of the pool.

She wanted to investigate what Amy was doing. Since they arrived at Amy’s cave, she has relaxed a little more around. She wasn’t as serious as she normally was when they were out among the others on the reservation.

Amy turns her head to look at Dulce. A smile appears on her face as she watches Dulce enjoy herself in the pool.

“Fixing us some dinner. If I don’t get it going now, it won’t be ready by the time we want to eat.” Amy crushes some herbs up and rubs them into the Elk meat she was cooking.

She stuffs the meat into the clay pot, along with some water, vegetables, and more spices. She seals the clay pot and put it in the firepit to cook. She makes sure the fire is right, before joining Dulce in the pool. Both women were naked she leans toward Dulce and kisses her on her soft lips.

Dulce wraps her arms around Amy’s body and pulls her close to her. Both women have been learning about each other since they met. Dulce knew Amy cared very much about the immigrants coming up from South America and Brazil. She also cared about how those people affected the people on the reservations as well.

She knew Amy’s partner Cora didn’t have much luck in congress either. Sure, there were some representatives that wanted to help. But then you had those that were being jerks that shot down every suggestion or compromise that was put forward. After Cora threatened to start cutting people’s hands off, they finally came up with a simple piece of legislation that would help immigrants. It wasn’t perfect or great, but it would help.

Amy looked into Dulce’s eyes, and a smile appeared on her face. She loved being held by Dulce, and she knew Dulce loved when she held her. She leans in and kisses Dulce again.

Dulce responds to Amy kissing her. She pulls Amy closer to her body and could feel Amy’s breasts pressing against hers.

“So, what are we going to do while dinner cooks?” Dulce loved Amy’s golden eyes.

“Get to know each other better.” Amy licks Dulce’s nose.

Cora’s trailer, Navajo Nation Reservation, Arizona:
Cora watches as the snow comes down and covers the ground. She was glad she put enough food out for the horses to stay warm. She fixes herself some coffee as she wonders how Amy was doing.

When she got back to their campsite after convincing congress to do something to help the immigrants. She noticed that Amy had fallen for someone. She noticed a young woman by the name of Dulce watching Amy. She could tell the young woman had a thing for Amy.

Once her coffee is ready and has been poured. She sits down at her work desk and goes over some paperwork that had been sent to her proving a tribe called Chippewa Indians of the Bad River Reservation, Wisconsin, was missing some artifacts. The description they had given her matched a few of the artifacts she brought back with her.

She sends them a picture of the artifacts she currently had. If they were the ones that were missing, she would ship them to them. She checks a few more letters she got and sends them emails with the information she either needs or has them clarify what the artifacts looked like.

Afterward, she goes curls up under a blanket on her sofa and watches a movie. With the way the weather was, she didn’t feel like going out anywhere, unless she had to. She was just thankful that the tribal council was taking a more active role in the immigrant situation. As long as the immigrants were on Native American land, there was nothing border agents or Federal agents could do, unless the tribal police call them.

She knows there is going to be blow back for what she did, but it had to be done. Cora snuggles deeper under her blanket and enjoys the movie.

“That should do it, Cora.” George looks at Cora as she finishes loading a bunch of firewood on the sled.

The snowstorm they had on the reservation had made it impossible to travel by car. All the roads were covered in deep snow, and even her Jeep was having trouble with the terrain. She was outside helping George with the firewood she brought back through the mystical corridors.

When she put on her mask, it covered her in a new suit suited for the cold weather. Right now, she wasn’t wearing her mask, but normal clothes.

“Okay.” Cora makes her way to George. She told him everything she had been up to lately.

He agreed that there would be blowback for her actions, but with the way the reservation was now. No one was going to be coming after her. She gets in on the passenger side of her Jeep, and George gets in on the driver’s side.

It was a good thing they left the jeep running. It was nice and warm inside the jeep. George looks at Cora “are you ready, kiddo?”

“Let’s get this wood over to Henry and Willow.” Cora sits back and relaxes as George drives.

George knew all the roads and tracks on the reservation better than anyone else. So, it wouldn’t take long to make their way to people. They have been delivering blankets, heaters, food, wood, and water to different people since five this morning.

She had to use her mask a few times to help find the road, but once she did. George kept them on it. She had her mask with her, just in case she needed it. She watched as George drove and munches on some dried deer meat.

“Do you think the weather will be this bad tomorrow, George?” Cora looks over toward George.

“The weatherman at channel twenty-seven thinks so.”

“What do you think?” Cora trusted George more than she did some weatherman on television.

“I think we’ll have to shelter down and survive for the next few days.” George had a bad feeling that this was going to get worst.

“I was afraid you were going to say that.” Cora didn’t like what she was feeling.

For the next three hours, they make their way to several homes dropping off the supplies and checking on people. Cora felt she would need to
check up on some of the families during the week and bring more supplies with her.

After dropping off everything and helping a few families, they make it back to George’s place and park the jeep under the carport, next to one of the SUVs Cora kept from guys who kidnapped George and worked him over. She had a nice collection of vehicles.

Before they get out of the jeep, Cora looks at George “are you okay with me staying here with you? I could always just stay at my place.” Cora’s trailer wasn’t too far from George’s place.

“You know I don’t mind you staying at my place. It will be nice having company during this storm.”

“Okay, lead on, old man.” Cora exists from the Jeep.

George chuckles as he exits the Jeep and starts walking towards his place. He knew Cora was behind him as they made their way to the front door. He opens the door and walks inside. He doesn’t bother to lock his place up.

Cora closes the door behind her as she enters the foyer area. She starts removing all her cold-weather gear. She hangs her jacket up and leaves her gloves and beanie to dry. Once all her cold weather gear was hanging up, she follows George into the kitchen and takes a seat on a bar stool. She watches him put a kettle onto a hot plate and heat up some water.

While the water was heating up, George takes out everything he needed to make stew. He puts all the ingredients into an old crockpot to cook. He turns around to look at Cora “I was just thinking, Cora. You might want to consider finding a successor to wear the mask after you are gone.”

“What’s bringing this on?’ Cora was curious why George would bring this up.

“Because of situations you have gotten yourself into. I know you are doing what the spirits want you to do, but one day you might get into a situation beyond your control.” George turns to look at Cora as he says that.

“True, but right now I’m doing okay. I know you are worried about me, but I’m also learning more about what the magical nature of the mask is capable of. It took Wolf himself to show me a few tricks that the mask could do.”

That statement piqued George’s interest. He had heard rumors that Wolf was among their people, but he has never met him.

“Are you sure it was Wolf, instead of Coyote pretending to be him?” George knew Coyote was known to play pranks and tricks on people.

Cora raises her right hand “I swear it was Wolf himself. He was helping his daughter, Amy.”

That raised an eyebrow on George’s face. He didn’t know Wolf had a human daughter. The last relative Wolf had was centuries ago.

“I swear, George. Wolf showed me a few tricks about the mask, and I have been working with his daughter. That’s why the mask has changed shape. It no longer looks like the mask I received from the spirits.” Cora had been surprised when it changed.

George hadn’t realized the mask had changed appearance. He thought it has always looked like it does now. He looks at Cora “you better tell me again what you and Wolf have been up too.”

“Okay.”

Cora shivers as she powers up the backup generator. The one George normally used had used up all its fuel and they were on the second one. The second one used propane to fuel it. The first one used cooking oil.

When she hears it kick on, she makes her way back inside George’s place. She shakes the snow off her weather gear as she takes it off.

“Alright, the second generator is purring like a kitten.” Cora looked at the other people they had brought back to George’s place.

The three families they brought back, roofs collapse from the weight of the snow piled up on them. So, George had offered to let them stay with him and her. She checked her place while she was out and everything was fine at her place.

“Thanks, Cora. We’ll have hot tea in a few minutes.” Marianne was in the kitchen along with another woman.

Marianne and Keisha were fixing tea and coffee in the kitchen now that they had power back. Keisha had made some biscuits for everyone and cooked up some buffalo gravy to go with them.

“Alright, Marianne and thanks.” Cora walks towards George’s home office and knocks on the door frame before heading inside.

George looks up from his laptop when he hears the knocking sound. A smile appears on his weathered old face “I take it, everything went fine?”

“Yeah, the second generator is purring like a kitten.” Cora walks into George’s office and sits down in an old high-back chair.

“That’s good. Have you thought about what I suggested?” George figures Cora might want to think about a replacement, should something happen to her.

“I have and I have mediated about it as well. I think now isn’t the right time to consider a replacement. I have a feeling that the spirits have more for me to do and learn.” Cora had a feeling, that the spirits had more for her to do.

“I have always taught you to go with your feelings. If the spirits have more for you. Then, listen to them.”

“I will and you know I appreciate your advice, friendship, and teaching.” Cora smiles at George.

“I do.” George was proud of what Cora has accomplished since she has been chosen by the spirits.

The Next few Weeks:
The snowstorm that had blanketed the reservation has made it impossible for anyone to move around for almost two weeks. After everyone managed to dig themselves out and life started returning to the reservation. George and Cora visit everyone to see if there is anything they could do.

While Cora did that, she also made arrangements for the artifacts she recovered to be returned to their proper owners or tribes. For the ones that are never claimed, she does research to find which tribes or cultures they belong to and try to have them return.

She also learns more about her mask as well. She gets visited by the Fox spirit and is taught more about what her mask is capable of. She knew she needed to know more about the gifts the spirits gave her.
