1500's England:
Abandonné stood shivering in front of the English judge that she had been brought in front of. Her mouth still felt sore from being sewn shut two months ago. As a matter of fact, her whole body was aching all over from the treatment she received from the jailer and his men these past few months. She had been a servant in a wealthy merchant’s house trying to make an honest living, so she wouldn’t have to steal anymore. She knew the man she worked for was crooked and chased after young girls like herself, but she had always managed to avoid him.

She knew he had his favorites and that she wasn’t one of them. She always took the dirtiest jobs that no one wanted to do. When she had gone in to get the chamber pot her employer had in his room to empty, she couldn’t believe what she saw. There was a man in there attacking her employer. She had charged forward to try and fend off the man, just as he cut opened the throat of her employer. Her employer’s blood squirted all over her clothes and face. The guy she had tried to stop knocked her out cold.

The next time she opened her eyes, several constables and one of her employer’s favorites were in the room with her and she was being arrested for murdering her employer. The knife that the guy used to kill her employer was found in her bloody hands. She had been taken to prison and tortured. She had told them everything she saw and what happened, but the account that her employers favorite gave said she had killed her employer out of jealousy.

One night while she was in her cell, one of the guards had decided he wanted to use her for sex and had come into her cell and forced himself on her. She had bitten off his manhood and still had it in her mouth when the other guard on duty came running in to investigate why the first one had screamed out in pain. He saw his fellow guard’s manhood hanging out of her mouth with the guard’s blood around her lips. He attacked her and knocked her out. When she came to a few hours later, she was naked and hanging from her cell wall. Her mouth had been sewn shut.

When the guards feed her, they feed her animal blood to drink instead of water. They poured it down her throat in a funnel they stuck in her mouth. Sometimes during the night she would be let down from the wall and male prisoners were brought in and allowed to have their way with her. When they were done with her, she was chained back to the wall

When the guards were told she would be appearing before the Judge. They threw buckets of icy cold water on her, till her lips turned blue. She was given what remained of the dress she had been arrested in to wear to cover her abused body.

Abandonné looks at the judge as she listens to his judgement for her to be shipped off to a penal colony. Tears were sliding down her cheeks as she was led away. As she is being led away, she tries to escape from the guard escorting her.

His grip was too strong for her to break out of. She was led out to a waiting metal wagon that would take her and several other prisoners to a waiting ship that was leaving at high tide. When she is put in the wagon, she is shackled to a male prisoner.

Once Abandonné and the others are load onto the ship and placed down into its hold. She watches as the sailors close the hold doors. After a few hours, she feels the hands of the man that she was shackled to, touch her in places she didn’t want to be touched but couldn’t resist.

After a few hours of molesting her, he stops and falls asleep himself. Abandonné closes her eyes and tries to get some sleep but is unable too. Throughout the night she could hear children crying as they clung to their mothers for safety. She never had any one care about her. She had been abandoned and left to die, till she was found by an old woman and taken in. The old woman had taken care of her till she died one night in her sleep when she was just six years old. After that she had wonder the streets and was taken in by an old man that taught her how to steal and break into people houses till, he was caught. She had managed to get away and find shelter with a group of street kids. They took her in and together they would steal and share what they stole with one another till one night. The oldest one among them had started molesting her and raped her. She left the next day and made her way to another town. There she met another street gang and started stealing with them.

One day while she was coming out of a house. She saw the gang ambushed by another gang and murdered. That’s when she decided to go straight. To get a job and try to live a normal life.

During the night she felt herself grab and taken up on the deck of the ship. The next thing Abandonné knew she was being thrown down on the deck and was being surrounded by six guys. She couldn’t scream because her mouth was still sewn shut. She tried to kick one guy who was kneeling to hold her leg. She got him right in the face. Abandonné felt her arms grabbed and the guy she kicked in the face, punches her in the face, causing her to hit the back of her head against the deck of the ship.

Rain hits her face as each guy there took turns with her. When they are done with her, they take her to a different part of the hold and throw her into a cage that is much too small for her to stand up in or lay down.

Day after day different sailors would use her like a piece of meat. One night after they had their fun with her. She summoned up enough of what strength she had left and broke free from her captors. The seas were rough, and the ship was being lifted out of the water and slammed down again.

Abandonné makes it over to the railing and just as the seas lifted the ship up out of the water, she jumped overboard and into the rough seas. She didn’t know how to swim, but it didn’t matter as the rough seas pulled her underwater. The ocean tossed and turned her like she was a ball in the ocean.

She manages to break the surface to grab as much air as she could, before she was pulled under again. She tries desperately to get back to the surface, but she feels herself pulled down into the ocean. All she saw before she blacked out, was a blueish color as lighting struck the surface of the ocean.

Nulea:
Tabitha was out collecting seashells on the beach. When she spots a body laying on the beach half in and out of the water. She runs over to it and saw it was a young woman with her mouth sewed closed. Her body looked like someone used her as a punching bag. She was nothing but skin and bone. She pulls the signal pistol her father gave her and shoot it up into the air.

A few minutes later several crew members from her father’s ship come running towards her. There was at least four of them coming towards her location.

“What’s the emergency Tabitha?” Yair approaches Tabitha and the body she was standing next to.

“It’s a new comer. I just found her.” Tabitha had never found a new comer before.

Amir walks over and kneels next to the body and places his hand on her clammy skin. He sends his special ability into her body to discover what injuries she had. He had to concentrate hard, because the woman was near death’s doorway.

“Were going to need to get her back to camp or she’s going to die.” Amir stood up and look towards Neil and Salvador.

“I’ll carry her.” Salvador walks over and picks Abandone’s unconscious body up off the beach.

Tabitha picks up her bag of shells she collected and whatever drift wood and crystals the sea tossed up on shore back to the camp. She was going to use them in her art work to sell at the market. She follows the guys back to camp.

“Looks like the construction is coming along.” Tabitha couldn’t believe the ship her father was building.

It was going to be the most unique air and sea ship around. She could hear the crew still working on it. The outer hull was completed and most of the inside. All they needed now was a crystal powerful enough to power the ship. The special sails they had provided basic power to the ship, but the crystal was needed to power the mechanical gears and engine of the ship.

“Yeah, hopefully we can find the crystal we need and get her off the ground.” Neil couldn’t wait till they hit the sky.

Salvador carries the woman he was carrying over to their ship’s healer. She wasn’t inside her hut, so he lays her down in one of the beds reserved for sick patients.

“I wonder where Shareen is?” Amir was curious where she could be.

“Right behind you.” Shareen had come back in and found her shipmates in her hut.

Tabitha looks over towards their furry dog woman. She was an American Eskimo dog that had been merged with a human from the other world. No one knew how it happened till recently when another one of her kind appeared.

“We have a new comer for you to look at. She’s in really bad shape.” All of them step aside to let Shareen look at the new comer they found.

“God, who would sew a person mouth shut?” As Shareen takes a pair of medical scissors out of her kit and start cutting the thread that had been used to sew the woman’s mouth shut.

“Do you think she’ll pull through, Shareen?” Tabitha was worried about her. It wasn’t often they got new people from the other world.

“I’ll let you know how she is once I stabilize her.” Shareen looks towards the captain’s daughter.

“Okay.” As Tabitha and the guys leave Shareen to do her work.

Tabitha looks at the new comer she found as the person slept. She wonders who she is and where she came from and why her mouth had been sewn shut. She had watched as Shareen removed the stitching on the girls mouth. She also had to tend to some cuts and broken bones that healed improperly.

“I wonder why someone would sew her mouth shut?” Tabitha looks over towards the humanoid American Eskimo woman.

Shareen touches her patients forehead and send a touch of her healing ability into the young woman. Her ability discovered the poor thing was fighting an infection down in her lower regions.

“I don't know, but no one deserved this type of treatment. This poor thing was feed animal blood.” Shareen's ability had informed her, that this poor girl had been forced feed animals blood.

Tabitha looks at Shareen when she says that “why would any one feed her animal blood?”

“Why do people do horrible things to each other, Tabitha.”Shareen looks at Tabitha.

Tabitha just shrugs her shoulders. This is the first time she found a new comer. She has seen how some of the people in other villages and towns were treated. However, none of what she saw was as cruel and mean as what she is seeing now.

“Do you think she is a bad person?” Tabitha knew some of the people that show up were bad people as well, but normally they didn't last long.

“No. Her aura is too clean, except for the black spots where she is sick.” Before Shareen came to Nulea, she use to be a doctor in training.
She also was a member of a Dianic coven and learning how to heal people using ancient medical treatment, when modern ones didn't work.

Shareen was out walking her American Eskimo, when a strange storm came out of no where. At first she thought it was a tornado, but this storm was different. She blacked out when lighting struck her and her pet. When she woke-up, she was laying on a bed like the one in her medical tent with a strange black hair woman with an old weathered face looking down at her.

That was when she learned what happened to her. How she had been changed from the lightning and merged with her beloved dog. That was four years ago. It has been in the last two years, she met another person like herself. The poor man had been out running with his dog and was merged with it, when he came over.

“What should I tell my father about her?” Tabitha knew her father wanted to know as much as possible about the new comer.

“Tell him to hold his horses and if he can't. I'll personally come over and sew his mouth shut.” Shareen liked Tabitha's father and enjoyed being part of his family.

“I would love to see that.” Tabitha enjoyed watching her father debate stuff with Shareen. She was only a handful of people that could get away with talking back to her father.

“Well, I'm going to go and get some lunch. Do you want anything?”

“Yes, can you ask Jacob to make a plate for me, please?” Shareen looks at Tabitha.

“Do you want your normal, or something special?”

“Something different will be nice.” Shareen figures she would try something different then her normal lunch.

“Okay, I'll tell Jacob.” Tabitha walks out of Shareen's place and head towards the outside kitchen

Jacob designed the place himself. He and his helpers always went into town to buy the ingredients he couldn't grow himself. He had a big garden behind his outside hut that had everything he loved to serve.

“Hey Jacob, watch you got cooking today?”Tabitha loved Jacob's cooking.

Jacob looks up from the sauce he was mixing when he hears Tabitha's young voice. A smile appears on his face “I have some smoke pig ready if you want some.”

“Oh, yes! I love the way you cook it.” Tabitha loved the special basing Jacob used on the pigs he cooked. One of the ingredients was the
special fruit she loved to eat right off the tree. It had a sweet juice taste to it, but was hard to cut open.

The thorns that protected the exterior made it impossible to grab off the tree and to open. You had to be very careful, while opening it. Once you went to all that worked to open the fruit. You were rewarded with the sweetest, tasting fruit. The tavern owners uses it to make their specialty wines and beer.

Tabitha walks over and sits down on one of the high stool seats. She looks at Jacob “Shareen said to surprise her with something new.”
“I can do that. How's the new comer doing?” Jacob heard about the new comer Tabitha found earlier today, down on the beach.

“She's still out of it. Shareen said she was badly abused and mistreated.” Tabitha wonders what crime she committed to be treated like she was.

“Well, I hope she recovers. We could use another hand around here.” Jacob couldn't wait for the new air ship to be completed. The kitchen still needed to be furnished as well the giant cooler that was installed.

“Who knows if she can cook.” Tabitha has helped Jacob out a few times and knew he was picky about how you prepared his meals.

“Its a bonus if she does, but I know the ship builders and mechanics could use an extra hand.”

“I know, Jeff is always complaining that he doesn't have enough people to get the ship ready on time.” Tabitha knew Jeff White was worried they wouldn't be ready for take off, like her father wanted.

"Unfortunately, she is still unconscious, so we won't know what she can do, until she wakes up."

Abandonné eyes flutter open as she slowly wakes up. The sound of waves crashing against the shore filled the air. Darkness surrounded her, and the air smelled fresh. There was a scent in the air, she has never smelled before. The temperature where she was, felt cool and warm.

Abandonné felt soft material rub against her skin. She looks down and from the moonlight shining through an opening in the roof, she could tell she was laying on a bed with a light blanket covering her. She touches her mouth and noticed that it wasn’t sewn shut anymore.

She notices there were several windows open that was letting in a nice breeze. The breeze had the scent of the ocean, along with the scent she couldn’t identify. Her body wasn’t hurting her and the constant pain she felt in between her legs, where she had been raped was gone.

She moves the blanket aside and stands up. She had to use the bedpost to study herself. The cloth she felt that brushed her skin, was a light sheer nightgown, she has never seen before. She does notice, she is naked under the gown.

She couldn’t believe that all the bruising, cuts and wounds she had were all gone. The floor underneath her feet felt smooth. She noticed her feet had been healed as well.

She slowly makes her way to the door and looks out. There was only a cloth covering the door. She looks around and sees a sandy path leading away from the building in the moonlight. There were palm trees and flowers surrounding the place. She could still hear the waves and looks in the opposite direction and could see a path that leads into the jungle.

“Are you hungry?” A female voice sounds behind Abandonné.

Abandonné turns around and comes face to face with a humanoid dog person. She steps backward out of the door of the building she was in.

“What are you?” Abandonné was startled.

A smile appears on Shareen’s face “I’m your doctor. You were brought to me to be healed

Abandonné was confused and couldn’t figure out what was going on. She looks at the dog person standing before her. She could tell the person was a woman, just from the white gown with a red cross on the front of it.

Abandonné didn’t know what the red cross meant, but the woman standing before her wasn’t doing anything to her. She walks towards the woman and back into the building she had woken up in.

“You must be hungry. You’ve been asleep since you arrived.” Shareen escorts Abandonné to a table in another room she hadn’t see.

“I hope you don’t mind some fruit.” Shareen kept fresh fruit available to snack on for any patients she had.

Abandonné looks at the room as she follows Shareen into it. She has never seen anything like the place before. There weren’t any walls like she was used to.

Shareen puts a bowl of peeled and cut fruit in front of Abandonné. She looks at Abandonné “you’ll feel better if you eat this.”

Abandonné looks at the bowl of fruit and didn’t recognize some of them. She reaches forward and picks a piece up with her fingers. The piece she picks up felt soft, as she places it in her mouth. As soon as the fruit hits her tongue, she tasted a sweetness to the fruit.

In no time, she was reaching for another piece. She enjoyed the first piece and her body wanted more. After the second piece, she reaches for a third piece.

A smile appears on Shareen’s face as she fills a tall wooden cup with a yellow liquid.

“Here, drink this. It will replenish the vitamins and minerals your body is still missing.” Shareen places the tall wooden cup in front of
Abandonné.

Abandonné takes a sip from it. She licks her lips and takes a second sip of the sweet-tasting juice. She never tasted something so good. She continues to eat the strange fruit and drink the rest of the juice. Her body felt better after eating and drinking the strange fruit and juice.

“Do you feel better?” Shareen looks at Abandonné and could tell the fruit and the specially blended juice she gave Abandonné had done a good job to her.

“Yes, how come I can understand you?” Abandonné had found it weird that she could understand the humanoid dog person.

“Because you were given knowledge about my language. Do you mind if I sit down?” Shareen didn’t want to scare Abandonné.

Abandonné nods her head yes. She wonders where she was and why she wasn’t dead. She had decided that death would be better than what she was going through.

“Let’s get to know each other. I’m Shareen and I have been taking care of you since you arrived. I want you to understand, that you are among friends here and no one will hurt you. Can you tell me why your mouth was sewn shut and what crime you committed to warrant such treatment?” Shareen was curious.

Abandonné takes a deep breath, which felt nice for once and looks at Shareen “my mouth was sewn shut because I bit off the manhood of the guard that was raping me. I sentenced for a crime I didn’t commit.”

“Is that why they also feed you animal blood as well?”

“Yes, the guards felt since I liked the taste of blood so much, they would feed it to me.” Abandonné shivers just thinking about what was done to her.

“What crime were you charged with?” Shareen knew Captain Seawolf will want to know.

“I was accused of murdering my employer. I tried to stop the attacker, but I was knocked unconscious.” All Abandonné could think about the whole time she was waiting to appear before the judge. Was the death of her employer and how his favorite framed her for it.

Shareen had been checking Abandonné’s aura while she was explaining what happened. She saw nothing in Abandonné’s aura, anything that says she was lying.

“Who accused you of being the murder?”

“My employer’s favorite slave. She didn’t like me. I don’t know why she hated me so much. I wasn’t interested in my employer. He was a pig that would chase any woman.” Abandonné knew how bad her employer was and that was why she always took the most disgusting job no one else would do. She figured that it would be a big turn off to her employer.

“Well, it's late and I know my Captain will like to talk with you, Abandonné.” Shareen knew Captain Seawolf will want to see if she was guilty.

“Who is your Captain?” Abandonné was curious.

“He’s my employer and his daughter found you washed up onshore. When you have had more rest, I’ll explain more about where you are now.” Shareen stands up.

Abandonné stands up as well. She could feel that she was sleepy.

“Come on with me, Abandonné.” Shareen gently takes Abandonné’s hand and escort her back to the bed she has been sleeping.

Abandonné follows Shareen back to the bed she woke-up in. She lays back down and slowly fall back to sleep.

“Sleep tight, Abandonné.” Shareen heads back to her bed.

Abandonné reaches up and picks several strange-looking fruits hanging from a palm tree. These past few days since she was found and brought back to Shareen’s place to heal. Has been strange to her. Most of the people she has run into have been ordinary human beings, but there have been very few that were humanoid animals.

The doctor that was looking after her was a humanoid dog and there was another like her that was male and worked on the airship. He looked like a humanoid golden retriever.

“Don’t pick that one, Abandonné. It’s not ripe yet.” Tabitha saw Abandonné about to pick a huckletarine that wasn’t ripe.

Abandonné looks at it and notices its color didn’t match the other ones. She found out that Doctor Shareen used it to make a special juice that helps to restore her energy. Her body had been so malnourished that she would have died within a few weeks.

The juice Doctor Shareen made from the fruit she was picking, helped restored everything she was missing and was restoring her energy. She was recovering stronger and faster than she has ever had.

“Sorry, I’m still getting used to some of these strange fruits and vegetables here.”

“No problem. It takes newcomers a while to adjust to how things are around here.” Tabitha has meet a lot of newcomers when she went to
different villages and towns with crew members from her father’s ship.

“Tabitha, how often do newcomers like me show up here?” Abandonné was curious about how often people showed up here.

“Sometimes three or four times a month or sometimes not for months. It all depends on the weather and energy buildup from the crystal mines and how it affects the weather that day.” Tabitha has seen months go by before a bad storm brought new people to their shores.

“Does anyone know how these storms work or why they bring people here?” Abandonné was curious.

“Nope, no one knows or cares. The only ones who would care are the elders on Mount Saint Peti. They like to buy slaves and forced them to do all sorts of nasty and demeaning things.” Tabitha knew a few people who had escaped from the elders.

“They sound like some of the rulers or upper class from my times.”

“They say the Elders were the ones that created everything. That without them, our world wouldn’t exist.” Tabitha knew her father and several other people didn’t believe that myth.

“Is it true?” Abandonné watches as Tabitha uses a pair of stilts to reach the fruit on the higher branches.

“Not according to my father. He says that they are a bunch of lazy ass nobles that take advantage of people. That they feel entitled to everything and that people should give them everything they ask for or demand.” Tabitha knew her father didn’t think very highly of the elders or the world government leaders either.

“They sound like a bunch of selfish and stuck-up group of people.”

“They are. Unfortunately, when they want something or someone, they send either their army or marines to take it.” Rui overheard Tabitha and Abandonné talking on his way to check on them.

He knew Tabitha was supposed to pick four bushels or so of the huckletarines and bring them back to be sold tomorrow at the market. He saw
Tabitha wearing the pair of stilts that Markus made for her and the new woman using a step ladder to reach some of the fruits on the higher limbs.

“Rui, did Dad send you to check up on us?” Tabitha turned around to look at one of her father’s crewmates.

“No, I decided to do it myself. I know how you like to slack off, young lady.” Rui looks at Tabitha with a smirk on his face.

Tabitha shakes her head back and forth in disbelief. She walks over to where Rui was standing.

“We are almost done, filling the fourth basket.” Tabitha dumps the load she was carrying into the fourth basket.

Abandonné dumps the load she had into the basket. She didn’t mind helping Tabitha out. She hasn’t had a chance to meet Tabitha’s father yet.
He had left with several of his men to purchase the crystal he needed for his ship.

She was glad that the weather where they were working was nice. Doctor Shareen had given her clothes that were comfortable to wear in this
type of weather. At first, she thought they were kind of immodest because of how short they were. Because they showed a lot of skin. However, she noticed the style of clothes the women and men wore around here were like that.

It also made moving around a whole lot easier. She learned that the women didn’t wear corsets anymore unless they wanted to. She was shocked to learn that women wore something called a bra instead. It allowed a woman to move around a lot easier, than the old-style corsets she use to wear.

“Well, since you ladies have been working so hard, why don’t you come back with me and enjoy some lunch.” Rui figured Abandonné might be hungry. She was still too underweight for someone of her build.

“Sounds good, what are we having?” Tabitha loved when Rui cooked. Between him and Jacob they never have bad meals.

“Fresh gumbo.” Rui has been working all morning on it.

Abandonné looks at Rui with a puzzled look on her face. She had no idea what gumbo was. Everything she has eaten since she arrived where she was, has been weird to her. Sure, they had fruits and vegetables that she could identify. However, some of the food she has been eating lately were things she never has heard of or tasted before.

Tabitha noticed the puzzled look on Abandonné’s face. She knew Abandonné was finding everything strange and unusual. She learned that
Abandonné came from a very poor and abusive family. That she always had to work for everything she could get.

“You’ll love it, Abandonné. It has chicken and sausage, and I bet Rui put shrimp in his.” Tabitha looked over toward Rui to confirm if she was right.

“Yep, fresh shrimp that came off the boat this morning.” Rui had been down at the docks in town when the fishermen came in and bought a large amount of shrimp.

Rui helps Tabitha and Abandonné load the baskets onto the cart. He takes the handle of the cart and pulls it. The girls have worked hard this morning and could use a break.

Abandonné looks around at the other people sitting near her. There had to be at least ten other people that were either younger or older than her. They were sitting outside under a simple covered shelter. There was a black slate board on wheels at the front of the setup.

Tabitha had informed her that her father insisted that all his crew members could read, write, count, and do simple math. So, she along with several other newcomers were attending a class. They were informed they would be taught how to do these things.

She was given a black rectangular slate along with some colored chalk and cloth to erase the chalk. Tabitha informed her that she was going to use it to write on and how to do simple math. She said that when she gets proficient. She will be issued paper and ink to write on.

She couldn’t believe that the people she was attending class with were new arrivals like her. None of them had been on the ship she had been a prisoner on.

“Good morning students. My name is Brooke Summerset. You can call me Mrs. Summerset. For the next six months, I’ll be teaching you how to read, write, count, and how to do simple math. If any of you need help after our lessons. I will stay after to help you. There will be a break around midday for you to grab some lunch. The break will last for an hour.”

Brooke stops and looks at everyone in her class. Most of the class were older students this time around. She had some younger students, but this time around there were more older students.

“Now, I will call your name and if I mispronounce it, please raise your hand and to me how to pronounce it. Also, if you have any questions. Please raise your hand and I’ll call on you.”

Brooke starts calling people’s names and watches as each student responds. She wanted to get a feel for what each of her students was capable of. Once she gets done calling each person’s name. She walks over to the blackboard and picks up a piece of chalk. She turns round to face everyone.

“Now everyone, if you would pick up your white piece of chalk. I want you to watch me first and then afterward, I want you to make an A on your slate.”

Brooke turns round and makes an A on the blackboard. She draws an apple next to it. Once she is done, she turns around to face everyone
“When you think of an A, I want you to associate it to an apple.”

Brooke watches as each of her students copies the A. She walks by each person so that if they are having trouble, she will be able to help them. She liked that they had an outdoor classroom.

During her days of going to school, she was stuck inside a building. She saw that the outdoor classroom helped her students relax more. Plus, the weather was nice and helpful as well.

Around midday, Brooke calls for a break. She looks at her students “Remember, you have an hour so grab something to eat and relax.”

Abandonné walks over to where food was being served and makes a selection. When she first learned about the buffet-style serving, they did. She would load her plate up, but Tabitha informed her that she didn’t need to do that. If she wanted seconds or thirds, she could go back. Also, no one was going to take her food from her.

One of the women in Abandonné’s class comes over to the table she was sitting at “Do you mind if I join you?”

“Please.” Abandonné motions to the empty seat at the table.

Carol sits down and picks up her fork. Everything about this place was still new to her. She looks at Abandonné “Where are you originally from?”

“A place called Britain. How about you?” Abandonné looks at Carol.

“Same place as you, but I guess, I came from a different time than you did?” Carol could tell from Abandonné’s thick accent, that she was from a different time.

“What were things like back from where you came from?” Abandonné was curious.

“Well, King George the Third was in power. The colonies in America had fought and won their war against him.”

“Colonies in America?” Abandonné looked confused.

Carol noticed the confused look on Abandonné’s face. She wonders what time frame she came from.

“Who was the king from where you came from?” Carol was curious.

“Henry VIII. I think that’s right?” Abandonné wasn’t sure who the ruler was.

She came from a poor family and no one cared who was sitting on the throne. All she knew, was life was hard.

Carol looks at Abandonné and couldn’t believe that this woman was almost three hundred years old. She knew Henry VIII ruled up to the year 1547. She wasn’t a history person, but she did come from an influenced family until she was disowned by her family.

“Were you on a ship?”

“Yes, I was convicted of murdering my employer, but I didn’t. I tried to save him.” Tears start to form in Abandonné’s eyes.

“You must have liked your employer a lot.” Carol wonder what type of relationship Abandonné had with her employer.

“Not really, he would chase after any female under his employ and force them to have sex with him. It was his favorite that killed him.”

“And you got blamed for it?” Carol couldn’t believe it.

“Yes.”

“I heard justice back then was corrupt.” Carol knew a lot of people were wrongfully convicted by the courts. Even during her trail, she was
wrongfully convicted.

Abandonné and Carol hear the bell their teacher was using to let them know lunch break was almost over. They finish up and head back to class.

Abandonné watches as the rain comes down outside the cottage. She was still shocked at how the women and men dressed. It seemed that all the clothes that women were forced to wear in her time has changed. She was still getting used to the fact that the nightgown she was wearing was made of thin material that was breezy.

She loved how it felt against her skin. She was also surprised that she no longer had to make her clothes. There were several shops in town where she could buy clothes already made. Sure, she had to take in some of the material to make the clothes fit better, but it was worth it.

Her small cottage had a simple kitchen so she could fix herself something to eat. She was told that the stove was a gas stove and was shown how to operate it by Freddie. He said that he could have installed a coal style or wood style for her, but figured she would rather have a gas style.

He showed her how to tell when the tank was empty and to let him or Gary know when it happened. The refrigerator was something new to her as well. She never knew you could keep leftovers or store food in a cold box before. She didn’t have to kill the animal she would like to eat.

There were three butcher shops in town where she could buy fresh meats or fresh seafood that is caught daily. She leaves the door open and walks towards the kitchen to make some breakfast for herself. She had a feeling that it was going to rain all day.

Since it was raining, she wouldn’t have class today. Which was good because it gives her a chance to catch up on some reading she has been doing lately. The library that the town had, was filled with a lot of interesting books. She found that she enjoyed reading.

Everything was new to her and it was still weird that things have changed so much. Abandonné fixes herself a simple meal of eggs and bacon. She loved the maple-infused bacon she bought the other day at Rosa butcher shop in town.

Tabitha was out of town with some of the others from the ship Tabitha’s father was building. Tabitha has been a big help in teaching her about the customs of the town. Tabitha told her that most of the towns around them were all the same in customs and languages.

She did warn her that there were towns where women were treated like second-class citizens and had to be covered up. Also, the women weren’t allowed to travel around unless they were being escorted by a male. The rules are very strict in that town. However, there have been several incidents where several hard-core law enforcement officials got their butts kicked by a mysterious woman.

According to what Tabitha told her about the incident, the woman sent the men to the healer's hut. The people she sent there, were there for a week healing from their injuries. The thing was, no one knew who this woman was or where she came from.

After her breakfast is cooked and she has eaten it. She sits down in her favorite chair and leans back. She loved that the chair reclined. She has never sat in anything like it.

She has also never had this much free time either. She had to work all her life so far and it felt nice to just relax. Tabitha suggested she should take up some sort of hobby, other than reading.

Abandonné picks the book up she started reading and goes to the page she bookmarked last night before going to bed. She kept a pocket-size dictionary by her so she could look up the words she has never heard of before. Which in her case was a lot.

She loved that she was no longer an ignorant illiterate person. She never realized how her lack of education made her seem like a stupid person. Then again, the only people who could afford an education were the rich and high-born people in her town.

Abandonné starts reading the book and listens to the rain coming down outside. She loved that she lived down by the water, instead of the muddy village she uses to. The roads here were covered in some sort of crushed gravel that stuck to itself and you didn’t have to watch out for people dumping human waste on you.

Tabitha told her that the town where they lived had a unique waste system. Also, she didn’t have to pump water anymore. The water tower in the center of town feeds water to everyone’s cottages and homes.

The ceiling fan in the middle of the cottage was circulating air around the place. The special crystal that produced lights in the place also could generate something Tabitha called electricity. She was warned not to touch the exposed wires or connections. If she did, it would shock her.

Abandonné stops every once in a while to look up a word to see what it means. She hated stopping, but she wanted to get the full meaning of what the author had written. It slowed her down as she read, but it helped her understand the story better.

She nearly jumps out of the chair, when she hears and feels a lightning strike nearby. Tabitha warned her that because of the large deposits of energy crystals near their area. Lightning strikes are common. However, the people who worked for her father has found a way to capture and harness the energy in the lightning strikes.

Abandonné goes back to reading and loose herself in the story. A little after noon time, she puts her book down and walk into the kitchen and open the ice box/refrigerator and grab some sliced meat she bought from the butcher shop. She makes herself a nice sandwich with the meat, cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes.

She never had seen lettuce before or tomatoes either. Tabitha introduced her to them and after trying them, she liked them. She learned she could do so much with them.

She walks back over to the recliner she was sitting in to eat and read.

“I love coming to town to shop.” Tabitha was enjoying herself. Her father gave her a bag of coins to buy supplies for their little community.

Markus was manning their stall, selling the excess fruits, nuts, and items their craftsmen made. She and Tabitha were exploring the different shops and new stalls that have appeared. Most of the new stalls were from merchants that were from different towns that travel around and spend a week or so at a different location selling their ware.

Some of the merchants knew how to push their products and were of high quality. However, there were a few you had to be careful of. Tabitha made sure she knew which merchants would do a switcheroo with their product or sell her a lesser-valued one.

They stop at a shop that sold fresh noodle soup that Abandonné has never had before or even heard of. She couldn’t believe how spicy and tasteful it was. The other thing she noticed as she walked around with Tabitha, was that there were people who looked different than anyone she has ever met before.

As Abandonné walks side by side with Tabitha back to the stall, they set up earlier today “Tabitha, what culture were those people at that noodle shop we just left are?”

“They are from an Asian culture. At first, only a few have appeared in the past. But, lately, though, a large amount has been appearing.” Tabitha had been surprised by how many have been appearing lately.

“Is that common for around here?” Abandonné was curious.

“Sometimes. It all depends on what is going on where they are coming from.” Tabitha knew that depending on where people came from, determined how many people appeared.

Abandonné was still confused, but she just accepts what Tabitha tells her. She was still learning about this strange place and why she was spared from dying like some of the people on the ship she was on did. Not all of the passengers/crew on the ship she was being transported on survived.

By the time Abandonné gets back to her home. She was exhausted. She makes a simple dinner for herself and reads for the rest of the night.

Since there was a full moon out tonight and the sky was cloudless. She sits outside and looks up at the night sky. The stars weren’t like they were from where she came from. Not that she got a chance to look at them. She was either too tired or under feed to care.

Around midnight, Abandonné heads back inside her home and lay down on her bed. She was glad her life has taken a different path than the one she was on before. She doesn’t know what she did to earn a second chance, but she is glad she did.

The next day or so, Abandonné is busy with classes and afterward, helping Tabitha with the task that had been assigned to her. Tabitha also gives her a tour of the ship her father is building. At first, Abandonné didn’t want to go on board because of her former experience of being on a ship. However, Tabitha reassures her that nothing will happen to her.

Abandonné is amazed at the construction and how roomy the ship is. It’s nothing like the sailing vessel she had been transported on. There weren’t any slaves here. This vessel had the latest of everything she had seen.

“Tabitha, you said once that ship is capable of flying in the sky? How is that possible?” Abandonné was curious.

“It’s a combination of the wood that the ship is made of and the special properties of the crystal that powers this ship. When you channel the
power of the crystal through the wood that the ship is made of. It allows the ship to defy gravity and fly.”

Abandonné just looks at Tabitha with a blank look on her face. She didn’t understand a word that Tabitha said to her. Everything about this world and the ship she has seen so far was confusing to her.

Tabitha saw the blank look on Abandonné’s face. She keeps forgetting that Abandonné wasn’t from here and the time frame she came from didn’t have the technology.

“Here, let me show you.” Tabitha escorts Abandonné over to a skiff that could be used like the ship.

Abandonné follows Tabitha over to a wooden skiff. She saw that it was set up weirdly.

“Here, watch this.” Tabitha connects a set of cables to a weird box.

Abandonné watches as the skiff levitates off the floor. She was amazed at what she was seeing.

“That’s magic?” Abandonné looks at Tabitha when she says that.

A smile appears on Tabitha’s face. She looks at Abandonné “Not really. It’s a science that can be explained. Magic is a science that hasn’t been discovered yet.”

Tabitha knew it was the special properties of the crystal and the special properties of the wood. She thought it was magic when her father first showed her, but the chief engineer Diggs explained how things worked to her.

Tabitha continues to show Abandonné around the ship. Afterward, they join some of the crew for lunch. Chef Malone was a really good cook.
