Siren Part 1
By: Bowrider

My ears would not stop ringing as I pulled myself off of the fence surrounding my school and turned towards my very own tormentor. After three years in high school you'd have thought that someone would get tired of shoving you around or knocking your head into a pole, but not Ian Duncan. Just my luck that his favorite target just so happened to be me.

At only five foot seven inches with a mop of unruly red hair and almost no muscle to speak of it was one of those inevitabilities that I would be a target, but it's not like I ever went looking for my very own personal bully.

"What are you doing getting back up Fleming? I thought I told you to get on your knees. After all you can't beg me to stop if you're still on your feet."

"Sorry to disappoint you Ian, but I really don't have time for this today. So what we're going to do now is you're going to look to your left..." and like the idiot he was Ian began looking left, "And I'll see you next week." I shouted as I sprinted to my right and dashed out of the school’s main gate before the idiot had time to figure out what had just happened.

As I ran down the street I had to hike up my bag with my swim gear in it. Although I wasn't very strong I had been swimming at the local pool since I had been brought to Summer Valley three years ago when I moved here from my last foster family in Connecticut. Today I was scheduled for lifeguard duty and I didn't want to be late and have to explain to my foster mom why I was late again.

Mrs. Birch and her husband ran one of the small gyms and pools in Summer Valley and when they found out that I had my lifeguard’s licence they figured it would be a good way to keep me busy after school as well as avoiding having to interview people for the position. I didn't mind the work either because it was easy money and it gave me a chance to work on my swimming at the same time.

Getting into the gym ten minutes later I saw my foster mother waiting at the main entrance desk talking to the receptionist. Susan Birch was still quite good looking for a forty six year old, but she never seemed to be smiling which made her seem cold to anyone within twenty feet of her.

Listening to her conversation as I walked back to the change rooms I overheard her talking about the latest mutant attacks in the New York area.

"Why don't the police just shoot those freaks as soon as they pop up? It’s not as though they're helping normal citizens anyways. It seems that the only time you hear about those freaks they're blowing something up or fighting with each other and hurting innocent people in the crossfire." She said to the gyms receptionist Sally.

"Thank goodness there aren't any around this area Sue. Most of them seem to head towards big cities from what you hear about on the news. Let someone else deal with them and I'll live my life in safety thank you very much." Sally responded.

Continuing back to the change rooms I just shook my head at how silly the two women were being. Of course there were more mutants in the city, there were more people there. Although I had to admit there did seem to be more attacks recently, from the mutants’ point of view it must seem as if there was a war going on with all the anti-mutant commercials on TV.

Slipping into the pool area after getting changed I took my position on the lifeguard tower and looked into the empty pool. There was never anyone here when I first got in although swim lessons usually started up after about half an hour after I got in. This time usually gave me a chance to work on my own swimming so diving into the pool from the tower I began to do a few laps of the pool.

After my third lap the world seemed to go out of control. The roof began to shake while I was in the middle of the pool and as I looked up a huge chuck of the roof collapsed a few feet away as a man with wings and a large humanoid lizard fell into the pool from the roof. The winged man shot a mass of light all around him knocking the lizard away from him and onto the deck. Unfortunately this also caused the rest of the roof to cave in and I could only watch as a large chunk of roof came at me crushing me down to the bottom of the pool. All I could think was that I didn't want to die.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I slowly became aware of myself after what could have been anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. I realized that I was suspended in the pool, but there was no rubble anywhere. As I looked down I realized that I couldn't even see myself in the pool, I could feel my body, but not see it. Not only that, but I didn't feel the need to breath either.

Scarred and confused I began to "swim" towards the side of the pool to try and figure out what was going on. Upon reaching the stairs out of the pool I began to exit only to find that the reason I couldn't see my body in the pool was that I had been turned into water somehow!

Looking around I found that it was dark outside and thankfully I was alone. I had to get out of here right away before someone saw a bunch of water walking around and started coming after me. I ran into the change room and saw myself for the first time. Staring into the mirror I realized that hiding was going to be impossible for me unless I found a way to look human again, a puddle of water can only get so far.

As I stared at the mass of water in the mirror I realized two things; the first being that I had gotten my wish and didn't die from being crushed by the roof, and the second was that I had survived because I was a mutant. Realizing this I tried figuring out if I was naturally a big puddle or if this was just my power making me like this.

Focusing on the mirror I pictured what I used to look like, what it felt like when my hair touched my skin, how it felt to have clothes on instead of the wetness of the water. Between one blink and the next I went from a puddle to being human again, but not the way I thought.

I just stared at the mirror as I went through the second shock of the night. Looking back at me was one of the most beautiful girls I'd ever seen. Her luxurious red hair flowed down to her waist and her face had no blemishes at all, as if it had never even been passed over by a gentle breeze. Her breasts had to at least be a C cup and looking further down the girls’ thin waist led to a small slit which could only be her vagina.

"It's OK Martin, you're still alive and you'll just deal with this later." I reminded myself once my brain started to overcome the shock.

Wiping away a few tears I didn't remember shedding I numbly made my way over to my locker and began fumbling with my lock as I pushed forward to get what I needed to survive the coming days and nights.

Siren Part 2
By: Bowrider

Getting my lock open and grabbing my school and gym bag I immediately started to dry myself off pulling away a completely soaked towel a few seconds later. Stuffing the towel into the side of my gym bag so it would dry I grabbed some clothes and wiggled myself into them noticing the looseness and tightness in certain areas more than others.

With the basics taken care of I realized that I had absolutely no idea of where I could go. My foster parents wouldn't take me in since I was no longer human, heck for all I knew of them they would probably send me to the police believing I was with those other two mutants who destroyed the pool. Being one of the social outcasts at school didn't give me many options for staying at a friend’s place either, not that they would recognize me anyways if I showed up at their doors.

Realizing that standing here wasn't going to get me anywhere I decided that my best bet would be to head back to the school so that I could figure out if anything had been posted online about what happened and maybe I could "borrow" some clothes from one of the girls lockers so that I could be a bit more comfortable.

Walking out to the main entrance of the gym I saw the clock by the entrance showing that it was nine forty at night, meaning that I had been unconscious underwater for about six hours. At least this would mean that I probably wouldn't run into anyone on the way to the school being that it was so late out.

Unfortunately I forgot to account for the fact that everybody would think that I had been killed in the fight making the gym a murder scene for the police. Walking out and onto the street from the gym I was greeted by the sight of police tape and a young man in a long trench coat who was talking on his cell phone and looking as though he was having a really bad day.

Catching sight of me as I walked out of the gym he immediately said that he would call the other person back and started to approach me.

"Young lady what were you doing in there! This area has been sealed off to the public, get over here!" He shouted at me as he approached the police tape.

Looking at the young man who must be a detective I realized that I could either run or lie, but either way I was in major trouble. Since I didn't have any ID right now if I was brought to the police station I was going to have a lot of explaining to do.

Figuring I could always run later I approached the detective and ducked under the police tape.

"I'm sorry sir; I was dared to cross the tape by my friends." I said to the officer, wincing slightly at the sound of my own voice and how different it was.

"That doesn't excuse the fact that this is a closed site and you are trespassing. Now what is your name and what is your parents’ phone number?"

Having to think fast I said the first girls’ name I could think of, "I'm Kara sir, and I don't have any parents, they gave me up when I was a baby..." I trailed off at the end remembering when I was first told that information, but I had learned early on that if you were going to lie you had to incorporate elements of the truth so it would be easier to remember.

Looking uncomfortable the officer looked at my feet saying, "Very well, but you'll have to come with me to give fingerprints so that we can eliminate you from the individuals who tore the roof apart."

Taking a step back I realized that I couldn't talk my way out of this and was going to have to make a break for it. With one more step back I turned and was just starting to run when the detective grabbed for my hand and we both watched as my hand turned to water and his went right through mine.

Stunned the detective stood there for a second looking from his now wet hand and back to me. This was all the opportunity that I needed as my hand reformed and I took off at a sprint towards the school, dumping the school and gym bags as I went as they would only slow me down. In the distance I heard the detective yelling for me to stop as I vaulted bushes and fences on my mad dash towards the school.

Unfortunately my new body was hindering my progress somewhat with my now long hair catching branches and my breasts swinging painfully. By the time I reached the school building and had broken one of the windows to get inside I could see a police cruisers' lights go by trying to locate where I had run off to. Pulling the drapes closed of the classroom I was in, all I could hope for was that the officers that were in the cruiser didn't spot the shards of broken glass by the window.

The minutes seemed to drag as I moved to another window and waited to see if the police were going to approach the school or not. Catching my breath and picking branches out of my hair I glanced out of my new window only to see that the police cruiser had indeed stopped and two officers were approaching the window I had broken to get inside the school.

Thinking fast I was suddenly struck by inspiration, I had to get to the locker room quickly or I would be dodging these cops for the rest of the night. I raced down the halls of the school hearing the two officers crunching glass in the classroom I had just left.

Running into the men’s locker room I started to strip out of my clothes as quickly as I could until I was naked and immediately jumped into a nearby shower stall. Focusing on my water shape I immediately shifted, and in order to hide from the officers I tried something new and visualized myself losing my shape and flowing onto the ground.

The process was slightly slower than shifting between human shapes, but as the officers burst into the locker room with guns drawn, I was merely a puddle on the floor of the shower stall.

Siren Part 3
By: Bowrider

Looking up at the officers from the floor of the shower stall I began to feel a pulling sensation near the centre of my mass. Looking around I realized one major flaw in my escape plan, the water that made up my body was slowly going down the drain of the shower!

As I noticed my predicament the two police officers lowered their weapons upon discovering the clothes I had gotten out of when I changed.

"What do you think Henderson? It looks to me like she just vanished into thin air... do you think she can teleport?"

"That would explain why there was no body in the pool back at the gym Greg, but if she could teleport why leave the clothes behind? And why would a young girl be wearing boys’ clothes any ways? If you want my opinion she probably walks through walls or something. At least that would explain detective McCoy's account of his hand going through hers when he tried to stop her. If she could do that then it would be easy for her and her compatriots to hide a body too. Come on, she probably swapped clothes in the women locker room and dumped these ones to throw us off the trail."

Once the two officers left I could hold on no longer and started my descent into what I hoped would be a quick trip through the schools sewer system.

The slow dips and turns of the schools sewer system were nothing compared to the choking darkness of being trapped in the pipes beneath the school. I could feel myself working up to a major panic attack when the pipes widened considerably as my liquid form surged out of the school pipes and I entered the city’s sewage system proper.

With the rapid flow of the water and "other" material I felt my body getting pulled from all directions as I literal splashed my way through the tubes beneath the city on my way to destinations unknown.

After approximately fifteen minutes of transferring tubes and being filtered (thank god for that) I began to see moonlight up ahead of me approaching fast, so reforming my watery human form I prepared for a dive into Lake Redgrave. The Lake was just outside the city limits and had a nearby campground I had been to once on a class trip.

Emerging from the water treatment plant and submerging into the cool waters of Lake Redgrave was soothing to my soul after the rest of my evening. Laying just beneath the surface I noticed that I didn't feel any need to breath, though that didn't really surprise me after being turned into a water woman and lying at the bottom of a pool for several hours.

What did surprise me were the sounds that I was hearing. The noises coming from the water made it seem as though an orchestra was playing all around me with instruments that I could only guess at and they were urging all those around them to join in their mysterious melody.

Humming to the tune of the Lake I slowly made my way across the water towards where I knew the campgrounds were located. Solidifying my body as I popped my head above water I looked straight up the beach and straight into the eyes of a man made entirely out of ice.

Raising his hand in a wave I quickly dove into the water again only to have my path cut off by a wall of ice above and below the water. Leaving me with only one option it seemed as though the iceman wasn't going to give me a chance to slip away.

"Well I guess it's time to see what Frosty the Iceman wants with me" I thought as I once again popped my head above the water.

Siren Part 4
By: Bowrider

Poking my head above the water only slightly to hide my nudity I shouted out to the ice man. "So I take it you weren't sent by the cops since they don't associate with mutants, so who are you and why won't you let me go?"

The man chuckled to himself and taking two steps forward I watched as the ice that made up his body simply dissipated.

"My name is Bobby Drake and I know you're probably not going to believe this but I was sent here to pick you up and keep you out of the cops’ way. If you'll just come out of the water I'll answer any of the questions you may have and you'll realize that you don't have to do this alone."

Looking at Bobby without all of the ice on him, he seemed fairly straightforward and honest with his expressions. Even though he seemed to be trying to look out for me though, something seemed off about his story.

"How could someone send you out for me? Technically I don't even exist right now. How do you even know you've got the right person?" I said as I slowly waded closer to the ice wall Bobby had made, reminding myself of what he could do.

"Trust me kid, I was told to bring back a young girl who came out of the water at this beach at this time. Now I don't know about you, but there doesn't seem to be many late night swimmers in this lake so make up your mind, are you coming or not?"

Seeming to be getting annoyed at waiting for me I watched as Bobby walked over to a nearby tree and sat down next to it, watching me to see what I would decide.

Taking a deep breath I dove under the water and listened to the lake as its soothing sounds encompassed me, urging me to the shore as if I should go with Bobby. Figuring that this was as good a sign as I was going to get, I once again shifted to my water form to hide my nudity and made my way towards the beach and this strange man.

Upon exiting the water and taking a look at the surprised man I turned to him saying, "What you've never seen someone made out of water before, Frosty? Now you better start talking about where we're headed and if I don't like the sound of things I'm off again, got it?"

Realizing that he was staring Bobby just responded saying, “Sorry about that, but I was never told what you could do. As for where we're headed, well let's just say that you've never been to a school quite like the one we're headed for. Come on, my car is over this hill and I can get you some of my extra clothes until we get to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters."

Following Bobby to his car he pulled out a sweatshirt and some denim shorts and I order him out of sight while I shifted back to flesh so that the clothes wouldn't get soaked.

After both of us got into the car and he started up the engine he turned to me asking, "So what do I call you? The Professor never got around to telling me that."

Nearly blurting out Martin I stopped myself and remembered the name that I had given to the detective as I exited the gym, "You can call me Kara, so how long will it take to get to this special school of yours?"

"About five hours so you can take a nap if you want to, I'll wake you up when we get close."

I had to admit that I was tired, who knew that fleeing from the police for being involved in your own disappearance could be so exhausting. Closing my eyes I nodded off after just a few minutes.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Kara wake up. Your snoring is loud and we're almost there." Bobby complained to me.

"Shows what you know, I know for a fact I don't snore, so there...” I mumbled at him after pulling my head off the window.

"So I may have exaggerated about the snoring, but that mark on your head from the window is sure real enough." He said while trying not to laugh.

Looking out the window while trying to tame my now much longer hair I saw what could only be described as a mansion set upon the top of a hill with a forest surrounding it.

Glancing over to Bobby I said, "I thought you were taking me to a school, this place looks like something a billionaire would own!"

Bobby started laughing outright now as he tried to maintain control of the car. "Oh it's definitely a school alright. So what's going to happen is that when I drop you off I'll leave you with Professor Xavier who owns this billionaires' mansion as you put it. While you're talking to him I'll see about getting your room and clothes set up."

"What do all of you even want with me anyways? You didn't even know what I looked like before getting out of that lake."

"I'll save most of the speech for the Professor Kara, but what I will tell you is this. When my mutation started I had three paths ahead of me; I could bury my head in the sand and hide what I am, I could take what I wanted from others with my new abilities, or I could help those who didn't have the opportunity to make the choices I did. Who you are is not your name or body or what you can do. Your choices define who you are. Now enough of the serious talk, I think you're in store for a few surprises today so try to take it all in stride and have some fun with it."

Note:
Sorry about the long break everyone, but I was without my computer for several weeks due to my movers being late. I wanted to get a part out quick so hopefully this will tide everyone over until I finish my next instalment. I wasn’t expecting to head in this direction but sometimes you just have to let the characters lead you.
Enjoy!

Siren Part 5
By: Bowrider

Walking through the hallways of this gigantic school would be enough for anyone to be a little bit anxious about meeting the person who owned it. Add to that the mystery of how I ended up here and you could understand how when I was first led into the study of Professor Charles Xavier I was quite shocked to see an older man in a wheelchair. As I was observing the Professor, Bobby led me to a chair opposite Xavier and began to head out the door.

"Wait, where are you going?" I said as I was about to sit down. Even though I didn't know Bobby that well I still didn't want to be alone with someone who knew where to find me before I even got there myself.

"Don't worry, I'll be just outside the door but you shouldn't have any problems with the Professor and I am sure that you'll want to know what's going on." closing the door behind him I turned toward the Professor and sat down waiting for an explanation as to what was happening.

"Well now, I am sure that you must be quite tired and curious about what's going on after going through your mutation so why don't we start with what you would like to know, it's always better to learn about what you're interested in anyways so where would you like to begin?"

I stared at the professor trying to figure out what he was really after and trying to come up with some way of asking him when I suddenly felt a pressure in my head and heard the professors’ voice inside my mind.

"What I am after child is a way for you to understand who you are and what you have become. Mutants are feared and hated by the general populous and when I am able to help those who cannot help themselves I hope that they will move forward to teach the understanding they have learnt to others and thus lessen the hatred of those like us. You are not alone anymore and I have a whole house full of mutants to prove it. What I want Kara is a chance for you to live a somewhat normal life while at the same time teaching you how to control your new abilities."

Upon hearing his voice in my head I immediately jumped out of my chair and began to back slowly towards the door.

"What did you just do? Why could I hear you in my head?!"

I could feel myself begin to boil as I realized that my anger at this invasion of privacy had shifted me to my water form. It was unbelievable that he would be preaching understanding to me after listening to my thoughts, mutant or not.

Flinging myself through the door after opening it I made it to the entrance hallway before hearing Bobby calling after me. Without realizing I was doing so I shot a stream of boiling water out from behind me propelling me forward while soaking the area behind me. Bobby stopped and braced himself in his ice form as my water drenched him from head to toe and causing a great deal of steam to rise into the air. Being carried along by the jet of water coming out of my back I could only watch in horror as spreading out from Bobby and following along the water jet from my back his ice caught up to me and began freezing me solid.

Siren Part 6
By: Bowrider

I couldn't feel a thing, but I knew that I couldn't be dead. Encased in ice you would think that would be the case but after calming down and overcoming the reality of sensory deprivation I realized that if I was still thinking, then I couldn't be dead. I began to think about what had brought me to this point and realized that I definitely had overreacted back in the office and that if I ever got this ice to melt enough that I should probably take the professor up on his offer to stay here. That isn't to say that I wasn’t justified in being upset with the professor, but both he and Bobby would keep until I had a chance to get out of this ice cube. With me being the ice cube though I realized that I may be in for quite a long wait. I probably looked like a statue right now so how would someone even know I was still alive?

With no way of telling time I could only keep track of time based upon my periods of sleep and after three sleeps I experienced the first change in what felt like an eternity of isolation. With what started as a speck I began to see a small light above me. Assuming this must be the sun I felt hope rising in me that I would be able to get free soon from the sun melting me down.

The next change to occur was one that built slowly over the course of the day (based on what I saw from the suns movement). I began to hear music surrounding me similar to that of what I heard at Lake Redgrave. The rising and falling of the notes urged me on and I began to move slowly through what I discovered to be the pond beside Xavier's School upon reaching the shore. Exhausted and still mostly frozen I fell asleep once more, this time knowing that when I awoke I would be back to my normal self; whatever that was now.

I woke to the sound of music emanating from the pond just a few meters away from me. Though stiff still from what remained of the melted ice in my body I dove into the pond and began to sing along with the music surrounding me. The water I was surrounded by was quite small compared to the lake and this made me think about what I was actually hearing. From what I remembered I had not heard this music back in my aunts’ gym pool so it must be something about natural sources of water that caused the music. As for the strange urgings I got when I was in the water it was almost as though I was getting advice from an old friend who was trying to look out for me. Whatever the music was I knew it had to either be something to do with my mutation or I was going mad.

After singing with the water for a few more minutes I began to get the feeling that I should surface. Upon breaking the surface I discovered that I was not alone and that there was two boys and a girl near a maple tree on the other side of the pond and they appeared to be arguing with one another.

The one boy appeared to be about sixteen years old while the girl was maybe eighteen. The second boy I was unsure I should even call a boy since he had blue skin covering his entire body and a pointed tail coming out of his pants, as for his age I didn't have a clue. As I moved closer to the edge of the pond I was able to hear more about what they were saying.

"Just what are you trying to prove Isaac? You still aren't in control of your abilities and you think you can go out and play hero? Professor X didn't take you in so that you could go out and get someone killed when you lose control, you haven't even been here long enough to make any friends, just what are you trying to prove to everyone?" Said the girl.

"I want to prove that I don't need to be babysat while the grownups go out and save others like us, even if I am new with my powers. Admit it Kitty, even newly emerged I still have more strength than you or Kurt, and yet no one seems to care about that. Why aren't the other students and I being utilized more? It's not like it's a big secret when a giant plane comes out of the basketball court. "

“You need to grow up Isaac, half trained as you are you are more danger to your teammates than a possible opponent. A perfect example is the girl that came in last week. She didn't have control of her abilities and ended up frozen as a result. Bobby hasn't come out of his room since that happened, do you want to end up like that? Do you really want to hurt yourself and leave your friends in pain?" Said the blue man who was apparently named Kurt.

Deciding to make my entrance I maintained my water form as I stepped out of the pond to greet the three mutants in front of me.

"So Bobby has locked himself away huh? Well this may sound cold but I must admit that I don't pity him that much. Now perhaps you three can inform me as to why I was attacked when I tried to leave here and why no one thought that water could melt and I might still be alive." I announced while approaching the threesome.

Siren Part 7

The three mutants looked between each other trying to understand what they were seeing. After a moment of staring at me the blue boy called Kurt stepped forward.

"What are you doing here? You should be dead. Everyone in the school saw you frozen solid; no one could have survived that, even if you are made of water."

"Well apparently I can, so considering I made it out of that ice prison how about you stop arguing amongst yourselves and take me to Bobby's room. I may not be very happy with him or the professor at the moment, but considering my options it's probably for the best for me to stay here for the foreseeable future and to do that I should probably try to keep the peace as much as possible don't you think?"

Once again they began looking back and forth between themselves as if they still couldn't believe that I was even in front of them.

Slowly while the two older mutants were still shocked Isaac approached me and said, "I'll take you up to the house so if you'll just follow me."

Without looking behind me, Isaac and I made our way up to the school to pull Bobby out of his apparent depression. The slow walk gave me time to think about what I would even say to Bobby once I got him to open the door. I didn't even know for sure that he even froze me intentionally, because if I didn't have control over the water jet that propelled me during my escape maybe the interaction between my water and his ice was an unknown reaction as well.

While thinking about this Isaac had turned slightly and was watching me as we climbed the hill.

"So what's your story? How long have you been a mutant?" Isaac said.

"Me? I've been accused of my own murder, escaped the police, fled from a mind reading mutant and come back from being frozen alive. As for how long I've been like this, well if I was frozen for about a week then I've been a mutant for about a week and a half." I realized about half way through my little speech that I was being really rude to him for no good reason so I continued on saying, "Look I'm sorry, but my life has taken a real nosedive recently I hope you don't mind me venting a little bit, I know that I just met you and all."

After walking in silence for a little while I spoke up once again, "So I heard some of your conversation while I was in the pond, are you really more powerful than the other two of them down there?"

"In terms of sheer power definitely, but I would have a rough time hitting either one of them if it came down to a fight. You see Kurt can teleport and Kitty can literally walk through walls so even if you wanted to hit them it would be tough to land a solid blow. I'm only new to this myself so I'm still finding my limits, but my abilities seem to be centred around creating and manipulating fire."

"Strange that of the few mutants I know of nearly half of them have some type of elemental ability: water, ice, light and fire now."

Isaac stiffened for a moment and then opened the door into the back of the school.

"You'll find Bobby's room on the second floor; it's the fourth door on the left. Hopefully we can talk more later, and good luck with him, everyone is pretty worried about him."

Walking up the stairs and approaching Bobby's room I prepared myself as I knocked on the door.

Siren Part 8
By: Bowrider

I waited a few moments in front of Bobby’s’ door after knocking expecting to hear some movement inside. When about a minute had passed I tried opening the door and upon finding it unlocked I tentatively entered into one of the most amazing sights I had ever seen. Floating in the air all around the room were snowflakes which seemed to hover instead of falling to the ground like they were sparkles in a snow globe.

Transfixed as I was by the floating snow I didn't notice at first but entering the room from just behind me was Bobby. It wasn't until I heard his gasp behind me that I noticed he was there.

"How is this possible? You were solid ice; even the professor couldn't hear your thoughts. You should be at the bottom of the pond right now..." Bobby said while slowly backing away from me.

"You know Bobby I'm getting kind of tired of people writing me off, so what if I was frozen; you turn into ice when you choose to. As for the 'mighty' professor, you brought me to somebody who not only read my mind without permission, but wrote me off as dead and dumped me into a pond." I sighed and tried to reign in my temper as I remembered what I was here for.

"Look, I heard from some of the others that you haven't left your room since I was frozen. You shouldn't waste away in here, even if the weather is pretty. I'm fine okay, it was probably more my fault what happened anyways. I lost control after what happened in the office and I guess I found out what it takes to stop me when I lose my cool. So stop mopping and show me around the school, I decided to stay as long as the professor leaves my thoughts for me to sort out.

Bobby just stood in front of me absorbing what I had told him and then stepped forward and wrapped me up in a hug saying, "Thank you for coming back, I would be honoured to show you around."

Stiff as a board at being hugged by a guy I didn't know what to think, all I knew was that I was going to have to be a lot more careful about what I say to guys now that I had switched teams.

Thinking quick about how I could get free without offending him I said, "Umm... I'm glad you feel better and all Bobby, but you need to let go of me now. I may be water at the moment, but I am still naked right now so this is actually really awkward."

Instantly Bobby took on a horrified expression and quickly let me go and turned himself away from me.

"I can't believe I didn't think of that, I'm so sorry Kara my mind didn’t even go there. I was just happy you were staying is all, I'll go get some clothes for you, just wait here." He said very quickly before racing down the hallway and into one of the other rooms where I heard him talking quickly to another girl judging by the sound of her voice.

Relieved at being able to free myself from his hug and at the prospect of getting some clothes again I left Bobby to it and started exploring his wintery wonderland of a room. It was a fairly spacious setup and clearly had been lived in for quite some time judging by the number of pictures on the wall. Some of the people in them were actually familiar too like Kitty and Kurt. While examining a calendar on his wall I found out that I had been frozen for six days which meant I had been a mutant for a little over ten days now. Looking back I hadn't really had a chance to adjust to my new reality yet, I had been simply surviving until now.

Bobby came back a few minutes later to find me on my knees and weeping over what I had lost.

"Kara... What happened? Why are you crying?"

"I've been running since this happened and I just don't know who I even am anymore. Everything sort of snapped when I thought of how I got to this point."

Taking a few steps across the room he crouched beside me saying, "All of us go through what you are at least a few times after emerging, but I want you to know that it does pass. All of us here in the school will be able to help you rediscover yourself, so until you're ready to ask us for help remember that you are a survivor. You've proven it many times already to me, so build from there and try to have some fun along the way. Now let's get you dressed and I can show you where you're new room will be. I think I'll save the rest of the tour for tomorrow though, you can get some rest in your room and you can meet everyone later."

Not knowing what else to do I composed myself and meekly followed him back to a room across the hall from the girl he got the clothes from.

Embarrassed over my emotional outburst I mumbled a quiet 'good night' and shut the door behind me before I could humiliate myself further.
