“I’m still finding it really hard to believe that it actually worked.” Kacy Prescott answered honestly. Having watched his mom’s car pull out of the driveway where she’d just dropped him off at his best friend’s house for the weekend.

“You should’ve had a little more faith in me. Your mom is going to busy with her new job to check up on us and besides by this time tomorrow we’ll be in Las Vegas.” Matt replied confidently smiled back at his friend, toying with what appeared to Kacy to be an oversized metal brief case.

His best friend Matt Kirkwood had called him only the day before with the good news. They had been secretly planning a trip to Las Vegas for the annual comic book convention for weeks now. Only one major obstacle had really ever stood in their way. When his mom had dropped him off she almost seemed hesitant to leave him here, for a moment Kacy had been worried that somehow his mother had found out about the trip. He didn’t like lying to his mother since his parent’s recent divorce; the best thing that had come out of that incident was that he and his mother had actually grown rather close. His father had always been abusive to both of them. His father had as far back as he could remember had always ridiculed him for not being more of a man.

Matt’s parents, on the other hand, were rather open-minded and if they had known about the convention they probably would have tagged along. As luck would have it, both of Matt’s parents were going to be out of town for the entire weekend. From what Matt had told him yesterday on the phone his parents had simply forgot to tell him. That they both needed to attend a medical conference in Aspen, Colorado and that they would be away for the entire week before returning home next Friday.

Kacy sighed finally then stretched his arms upward before motioning towards the case his friend was still holding. “So are you going to tell me what that case is for or are you trying to build up some sort of suspense.”

Matt only glanced briefly at the strange case before wordlessly placing it on the floor in front of them. He’d found it during one of his weekly endurance runs on the Boulder trail the day before. It only took him an hour to figure out what it could actually do, but it wasn’t until this morning that he knew what to do with it. The grey metal case suddenly started to quiver, and then its metal began to stretch. Slowly, it began to grow. Kacy bolted out of the leather sofa, backing away, his eyes wide with surprise and mouth agape. Matt, on the other hand, had already watched it do this before and much more, so instead watched his friend’s reaction.

Finally Kacy found his voice again and asked hesitantly. “What the hell is it?” His voice was shaky but also filled with some curiosity. Matt held off answering any of his friend’s questions.

The case, continued to grow and stretch in both vertical and horizontal directions, until it finally reached it preset size. Kacy was still having trouble believing that a small brief case could morph before his eyes into a dull grey phone booth sized metal box. Even now after witnessing it first hand, he still had a hard time believing it.

Matt could only watch patiently as Kacy’s curiosity got the better of him and he started walking around it, studying its surface. “Hey, Matt what’s this weird looking panel for?”

“What do you think it does?’ Matt answered keeping his tone neutral. He’d already discovered through trial and error to figure out most of the booth’s secrets and wanted to wait to see how long it takes for his friend to figure out it for himself. Ever since he had found it two days ago he had been making additional plans to see how far they both could experiment with the booth and if everything worked they might win more then just the costume contest. The big question was would his friend agree to give it a try.

“That wasn’t very helpful, Matt I don’t know what you think but this thing here looks to me like it’s a large claw print.” Kacy said while he reached for the red claw print with his outstretched hand. When his palm touched the strangely warm panel, the black panel changed. What had been nothing before now had a blurred figure inside its confines. He snatched his hand back, and only after a reassuring nod from his friend did he return his hand to the panel. Just as before a blurred figure appeared again. As he watched, the figure began to solidify, and take a more definite shape.

“Kara, Why did it create-?” Kacy exclaimed when he finally recognized the small figure, now standing in the display. “It’s… impossible! How does this thing know how to create a image of Kara Lewis?” His head swiveled from the image to his friend and back again. The image showed Kara wearing her trademark red and gold cheerleading outfit; Kacy had always liked how well it showed off her legs and athletic figure.

“Just be honest with me, were you just thinking about her, again weren’t you?”

“Yes, but what does that have to do about this?” Kacy demanded.

“Dude I know you can’t be that slow, you were thinking about her and then by coincidence the display panel somehow is able to produce the exact facsimile of her. You’re not going this dense are you?” Matt chided his friend.

Kacy ignored his friend teasing him; his interest in Kara had always been a source of amusement for Matt. Kara Lewis was a girl he had fantasized about constantly in high school. Until she graduated two weeks ago, she had been one of the hottest girls in school. Practically the entire male population of Skyline High School would’ve done anything to go out with her just once. However, Kacy wasn’t like the other guys in school. He would never admit this to anybody else, especially his best friend, but when he was looking at her he just didn’t lust after her instead was envious of her. He had been caught a few times staring and her boyfriend would’ve probably beaten him to a pulp if Matt hadn’t intervened. Kacy knew that most of his classmates thought he was strange or worse, and treated him likewise. If it weren’t for Kacy he wouldn’t know how he cope.

Kacy continued to stare at the image, and then his head swiveled around to Matt. “Just a sec, you already know what this thing does, don’t you.” Matt didn’t respond to his question because something he had long suspected about that his best friend occurred to him the revelation actually didn’t bother him and, after seeing Kara’s image on the display, he knew how to proceed.

“I don’t want to ruin the surprise for you.” He paused and strode over to the control panel. “See that odd shaped purple colored knob?” Kacy nodded. “Go ahead and touch that knob….”

What happened next was hard to describe even after seeing a brief case turn into something far bigger. One moment he was staring at a solid grey surface and the next an opening appeared where none had existed before. Kacy hadn’t seen any type of seam for an opening; it was as if the material had disappeared into nothing. Always being the curious type, Kacy cautiously stepped inside and spotted another odd shaped purple knob, and this time without thinking he reached for this new knob.

This time the opening suddenly disappeared as quickly as it had appeared. Before he could even cry for help the opening appeared once more. Not sure what had just happened he quickly stepped out of the booth and he immediately knew that what ever had just happened it had affected him somehow. The first thing Kacy noticed was that his sense of balance had shifted and it wasn’t hard not to ignore the sudden feeling of weight now pulling downward from his chest. Or ignore the cool breeze he was feeling between his legs now.

“What the! Matt what-” Kacy cried and the familiar soft melody soprano voice of Kara Lewis just added to his confusion. He absently reached upward and gently touched the high cheekbone before his other hand freed itself of its Pom-pom feeling one of the soft but firm mounds of flesh through his or rather her cheerleading jersey.

Matt had already seen first hand what the booth could do when he transformed himself into a few of his teammates from his swim team. “What do you think?”

“This is incredible! I…!” Kacy/Kara answered. Shyly she ran a hand down his or rather her narrow waist marveling, how wide her hips were and how attractive her long tanned legs looked. Kacy/Kara’s turned to face Matt, then smiled. Kacy had always tried to be careful about allowing his true feelings to show. One of the reasons why his mother had filed for divorce was when his father had overreacted to having found his son’s secret stash of girls clothing and makeup kit.

His father had never been very tolerant of things. Especially regarding a son that was almost the exact opposite of him, and when he accidentally found Kacy’s secret he had flown into a rage. To Kacy’s surprise his Mother had apparently known for a while that her son like to dress in woman’s clothing, but had said nothing. This revelation didn’t help matters when his Father then started taking his anger out on her instead. Less then a month later his parents were separated and his own father had cut off all contact with him or his mother.

“So how does it feel to be a girl, finally?”

Kacy/Kara was only partly listening he/she was still trying to deal with the changes, before it finally dawn on him/her what Matt had just said. “What… did you say?” He asked already knowing what he had said. It was only then that Matt finally revealed what he had long suspected about his friend.

“Ho-How long ha-have you know about this?” Kara asked horrified. She was feeling rather uncomfortable now standing here dressed like this and cast her face downward in shame. As Kacy she’d already lost her father to her desire to dress feminine and now she thought that now she was going to lose her closest friend. It was strangely becoming easier to think of herself as a female. In fact if she didn’t have any memories of being her former self she might of considered that she had always been a girl. To her surprise Matt placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder and gently lifted her chin so she could see him better.

“I’ve had my suspicions for a while now. A few pieces here and there. For example I noticed that you always seemed to prefer to create female characters for whatever online games we both played. “ Matt stated calmly.

“So if you have known or suspected all this time. Why haven’t you ever said anything about it.” She asked carefully, wondering if he had another agenda for suddenly revealing the truth now.

“Kacy or I guess should call you Kara, I will admit that at the time I was confused and didn’t know why you would hide something from me. But regardless you’re still my best friend and nothing is going to change that.”

It was her best friend’s voice and trademark grin that helped to reassure her. Even though both his mother and former father had known his secret. In either of those instances his mother seemingly ignored her son’s cross-dressing and his father had abandoned them. Strangely she felt as if a great burden she had been carrying had suddenly been lifted from her shoulders.

“Now that that is behind us now. I was wondering if you could humor me by doing something for me?” He waited until she nodded hesitantly for him to continue. “I noticed that when you changed yourself into Kara Lewis and you also kept her cheerleading outfit. By any chance were you also thinking how good she looked while she was doing some of her routines?” Kara nodded, not sure where he was going with these questions.

“I was wondering could you perhaps try doing some of them?”

Kara was about to refuse, but as she thought about it, to her surprise she found that she somehow knew how to perform them. She smiled timidly at him and nodded her willingness to try. After Matt had shrunk the booth back to its initial size she started to perform one of his favorite routines, gradually increasing the complexity as her confidence continued to grow. Finally she decided to end with a classic leg split. To her surprise and what caused her to blush profusely was Matt’s applause.

“That was great!” He exclaimed. “It only proves that skills and abilities can be created with the booth.” He reached down and offered an outstretched hand to help her up to her feet. Without thinking Kara/Scott took his hand and allowed Matt to pull her up. While doing so she noticed how strong his arm looked and realized that she had never noticed that part about him.

“Um… you can let go of my hand now.” Matt coughed politely. Kara feeling awkward quickly released his hand reluctantly and an uncomfortable silence filled the living room. Trying to change the subject Matt looked at his watch and noticed that it was almost noon already.

“Hey what do you say we get something to eat from the kitchen, and I will tell you about my grand plan for using the booth and how it relates to the convention.” With the obvious growling coming from his stomach it only helped to emphasis the point better then anything else.

Welcoming any excuse to move past the awkward moment and experiencing her own stomach grumbling she readily agreed but hesitated when she realize how she was dressed and the fact she was a girl. Matt at first appeared confused but after glancing back to the booth and then at his friend, he realized that he had to say something. He need for her to remain as she was so his plan wouldn’t be affected.

“You don’t have to change you know. How often can you be someone else?” He suggested.

Kara looked at herself again and then back at the booth and after a moment’s hesitation she decided that she could wait for little longer. She smiled at Matt and shrugged her shoulders and her relaxed and easy manner was what he had been hoping for. Now taking his plan another step further.

“Sounds good to me, hey I don’t now about you but I’m hungry… So last one there has to make the sandwiches.” He said abruptly and sprinted for the kitchen.

“Hey wait up?” She cried chasing after him.

* * *

“So what do you think?” Matt finished, brushing crumbs from his shirt. While they were eating he had spent the last twenty minutes outlining his plan. Kara had good-naturedly made her friend a grilled ham and cheese sandwich for him even though he had just barely beaten her to the kitchen. Even before her transformation she had always liked to cook and didn’t mind showing off her skill. She didn’t know if she was getting used to being a real girl but she opted for a Caesar salad and a small serving of low fat yogurt.

“You’re serious aren’t you? You want us to use the booth and turn ourselves into literally virtual copies of some fictional superheroes. Then afterward we can drive to Las Vegas and then hopefully win the costume competition.” Kara managed to sum up Matt’s plan in between licking the remains of her yogurt from her spoon.

“That’s pretty much the plan so far, what do you think?” Matt repeated. “Do you have any nagging questions about any of the details?” He offered knowing that he might be giving Kara a means to back out if she realized what he wanted to do.

Kara asked him about how he planned to still get their motel reservation and he readily explained his plan to fabricate fake ID’s they would be using. Since the room had been prepaid for in advance there shouldn’t concern about that. She had to admit he had even planned how they would get back to his parents house. Supposedly they wouldn’t be here so they could change back without being caught. Clearing her throat she asked him about why and how did he think that they could actually gain superpowers from the booth. Matt was for some reason being evasive but explained he was 99% sure that it would work, and he asked her given the chance to have superpowers would anybody turn up the opportunity. Kara had to admit that he was right on the last point but something was still bothering her about the whole plan then quite suddenly she had it.

“So if I assume that you’re going to go as Superman, who am I supposed to be.” Kara asked innocently, partly guessing his response.

“Well — I me-mean since you’re already a girl and all and I assumed that you might like the opportunity to really see what it is like, for the fairer sex I mean.” He mumbled, he wondered if he had pushed things to quickly on to her. It seemed to him that she was adjusting to being a girl so far.

“You conniving bastard! You’ve been planning this from the get go! Haven’t you?” Kara declared. “Why couldn’t I be Lex Luthor your arch nemesis?” She offered, secretly she didn’t like the idea of being a bald brilliant megalomaniac, but she was just toying with him to see how long she could make him squirm. Oddly she was welcoming the chance to live as a female even for a few days. It would’ve been a deeply held wish miraculously comes true. But he doesn’t have to know that she thought.

“Well Lex would give us the hero and villain angle, but how about Lois Lane?” He countered trying to salvage some of his plans. For a moment Kara considered taking him up on the Lois Lane option, but knowing the degree of intimacy they would have to present during the competition she wasn’t quite ready for that yet. Besides she would like to have a chance of having superpowers too.

“O.K. Matt I’ll go to the convention as Supergirl. But only because you think that it would improve our chances of winning.” She offered sweetly. Enjoying that she had so skillfully manipulated him that way. Not realizing that she’d been using one of Kara Lewis refined skills in the process. Relieved that she was totally onboard Matt disappeared into the living room, returning with a pad of paper and pencils.

Planning every aspect of how to even model the two fictional superheroes took almost the rest of the entire afternoon, breaking only for an occasional snack, and the subsequent bathroom breaks. That task alone had been a new experience for her. But by 8 o’clock they decided together to do one more design review before agreeing to use their completed specs on the booth. Once Kara had gotten into it she had become quite dedicated to making their new persona’s as believable as possible. They had argued about various points and detail but eventually they had created the best models they felt would be possible, considering there was so much they didn’t know about the booth.

Matt had won the argument on both of them using the darker color and style of costume used for the Bryan Singer’s version of Superman. Matt even based his body frame and looks on Brandon Routh, but upped the muscle mass to something more he felt appropriate. Not surprisingly Kara still had to talk him down to a more plausible muscle size, before they both agreed on his body template.

In Kara’s case she focused on just improving the original Kara Lewis’s body. She already had an athletic build thanks to the real Kara who had always taken pride in her looks. As the former Captain of the squad she had driven herself to set an example. Kara’s 5 foot 7-inch athletic frame only needed to increase the muscle mass and density to finally achieve an overall body fat and shape. Despite Matt’s urging and practical begging her to increase her bust size she resisted tinkering with increasing her cup size from a respectable C to D. She also decided that for the sake of the original Kara’s modesty. Not that Kara Lewis would ever be caught dead at a Comic Book Convention. Kara also made a few facial modifications, for instance she changed the eye color to a more vibrant blue as well as altering her hair color to the classic blonde, but limited the overall length to just past the shoulder blades. She also made a few minor hygiene improvements by removing any trace of body or leg hair considering that she was going to be in this form for a few days. Kara didn’t want to shave and had no idea if a regular razor would even work on her legs. When she was finally done with her specs she allowed him to review them for possible design flaws. She followed his approving appraisal but couldn’t help noticing a deepening frown when he came to the actual description of her costume.

“Kara everything looks great, but why couldn’t you’ve selected the halter top version instead of the traditional one piece outfit? The new one is in more in vogue with the current incarnation in the DC Universe, wouldn’t you agree?”

“No I don’t. Besides I don’t want to have a bare midriff. It is just a little to revealing for my tastes, considering we are going to be in public. And before you say anything, I’ve seen enough footage of the upcoming movie and in every case Supergirl does doesn’t have a bare stomach either. Also with the specifications we created I could conceivably alter it if I later wanted to.” Kara stated confidently. Knowing for all practical reasons she had won the argument. One of the major modifications they had agreed on was rather brilliant and also helped remove some other nagging details. Kara had never really liked the whole naíve method of Clark Kent wearing his costume under his everyday clothes and in all honesty Kara Zor-El’s secret identity would have trouble describing why she only wore frumpy clothing all the time. Considering how attractive she routinely dressed in the comic book when she wasn’t dressed as Supergirl.

Matt’s solution was to design in the specs to allow their costumes the ability of morphing into a different outfit as the need arises. If everything worked as planned they only had to picture the new outfit in their minds and their clothing would take of the desired changes. Following this interesting path Kara had also suggested that they give their selves a very limited ability to temporarily alter facial and few physical characteristics to better hide their true identities. Both of them were so involved with creating how they though Kryptonian biochemistry and genetic structure would be they never once considered that they were putting too much though into it. For all intensive purposes once they changed they’d be Kryptonian.

* * *

“Well are you ready to try it now?” Matt asked impatiently, he had volunteered this time to change first. Which he had only just completed a few moments ago. It had taken some time to make sure that he had been thinking about all the specs they had talked about. When Kal-El (they agreed when in their superhero persona to only refer to each other by their Kryptonian names both in private and in public to be in character.) had stepped out of the changing chamber, she still couldn’t take her eyes off him. He was very attractive and she realized that she was experiencing some new feelings and at the moment was rather bewildered by them. Trying to divert her attention about how she was feeling she decided to clear her head and asked an innocent question.

“Do you have some of the powers we planned on having?” She asked innocuously trying to calm her own heart rate down.

Kal-El grinned absently actually enjoying the chance to show off first. Well if she wants a little demonstration, he thought happily. For a little privacy they had decided to take the booth downstairs to the family room. Kal-El looked around trying to find something heavy and remembered his Bowflex machine in the corner. With one hand he effortlessly lifted it one handed at least three feet from the floor before gently returning it to the ground. It had taken himself, Kacy, and his own father to carry everything downstairs and after assembling it. Only afterward had they needed to move it a few inches away from the wall because his mother didn’t want it to mark up the wall.

“Impressed?” Kara could only nod her head in amazement before finding her voice again. “What about your other powers, do you have any other them too?”

Kal-El had been waiting for this and randomly selected two of his powers. “Well I have been listening to your heart racing like a locomotive, I can only assume that it’s from all the excitement and I’ve just noticed that your panties and bra happen to be-“

“Enough — Enough I believe you! I believe you now!” She laughed instinctively trying to cover herself as if she was indeed clad only in her lingerie. Kal-El had privately enjoyed that part of his little demonstration; he strolled over to the booth and tapped the side with his knuckle.

“Well now are you ready?” He repeated once more. Kara experiences a brief moment of hesitation, but whatever inner doubt she had quickly disappeared. She walked over to the control panel and taking her time she concentrated on Supergirl’s design specs the image on the panel slowly took shape. After double-checking her notes she stepped into the booth, after a brief prayer, and a deep breath. Kara touched the purple knob for what would be the second time today.
* * *

The world Kara was stepping back into was still appeared the same but everything and felt very different now. Her enhanced senses were receptive to even the lowest type of stimuli from her surroundings. As the outside started to overwhelm her senses she suddenly felt sick to her stomach.

“Kara are you alright?” The concern in her friends voice was quite evident and strangely comforting to her. It took her a moment to notice that he was helping her to stand upright.

“I’m fine… just feeling a little overwhelmed, right now.” She grimaced.

“I felt the same too, you’ll get used to blocking it in no time.” He offered sympathetically still helping her stand upright. The warmth of his protective arm holding her seemed to make her feel weak in the knees and oddly the experience wasn’t entirely unwelcome to her. Shyly Kara nodded and somehow reluctantly found the strength to stand unsupported. Still feeling a little queasy, she was now annoyed that he’d failed to mention that particular detail, before her own transformation. At the time she had not noticed him looking any worse for wear but she reflected he might’ve been better prepared for the changes. Nice of him to keep that part back, she thought privately. Kal-El had noticed a subtle change in her demeanor and decided to quickly change the topic.

“I have to admit seeing you in that outfit. It just proves that I was wrong about how it would look on you. It really looks great on you.” He offered and unexpectedly was rewarded with a shy smile back towards him.

“Ah… thanks. I think you look great yourself... Kal.” She responded remembering to use his Kryptonian name. Kara felt her cheeks grow warm and was perplexed by her inconsistent emotions. A small part of her was still annoyed with him and the other had rather enjoyed the complement he had given her. Having only been a woman for a few hours she never contemplated what could happening was the direct result of female hormones coursing through out her bloodstream and how it might affect her mindset and behavior.

In their defense neither one of them had fully considered what would happen to them when they used the booth remake their bodies. Using specifications they created to model the once fictional Kryptonian biophysical nature. Subconsciously they were still trying to gain some mastery of her and to a lesser extent Kal-El’s senses neither one of them realized that their olfactory senses having identified the pheromones their bodies were releasing unintentionally. Nor how it was slowly effecting their actions towards each other.

Kara’s blue eyes sought out contact with Kal-El’s own and still not conscious of how their bodies were reacting to each other. As if they were communicated nonverbally and must of come to some agreement, because of their next act. Kara found herself inside Kal-El firm but still gentle embrace. Her body felt his body touching hers through their costumes and in part alarm and peculiar fascination she found herself enjoying the experience. Before Kara slowly came to her senses.

“Kal… Kal-El? Ah… Superman please let me go!” She tried weakly to ward off his advances, before becoming a more aggressive and literally pushes him away from her. Kal-El’s body would’ve crashed through the wall if he hadn’t used his own powers to slow himself down. Kara’s confusion and hurt expression helped turned his own confusion into genuine concern for his friend. Trying to break another awkward moment between them he turned his back to her and sighed sadly.

“Listen Kara I think it’s getting late and I think both of us probably need some privacy for the time being.” He said after shrinking the booth back to its original size before turned to face Kara again.

“You can sleep in Jane’s… I mean the spare room down here.” He nodded his head towards the closed door. He paused as if to say something else but apparently changed his mind and covering it by clearing his throat. Kara couldn’t help noticing that his ears were turning bright red.

She took pity on him and his obviously embarrassment and asked gently for him to finish what he wanted to say to her.

“Well… if you want to there is few of my sisters things you can use for getting ready for bed. I guess… she still hasn’t come back home to pick some of her remaining things after getting married last month.” He turned to go up the stairs knowing that Kara was still watching him go. He paused at the top he turned to look back at her.

“Good night. Kara.” He was about to turn when Kara’s voice stopped him.

“Kal?”

“I know Kara. I felt something too- I’ll — I mean we’ll talk about what happened if you want tomorrow.” He responded carefully before continuing upstairs to his room.

* * *

Kal-El was sitting on the edge of his seat staring at one of the comic books they’d used as a reference, while they were designing their characters. He noted that the cartoon image of Supergirl didn’t do much justice to the now very real life Kara Zor-El. She was flesh and blood at the moment and was sitting on her bed downstairs. He felt that she was far more beautiful the he could’ve imagined and hopefully she wouldn’t want to change back until after the convention.

He didn’t think that Kara was watching him, and he didn’t want to intrude on her privacy. He stood up and reached for a dull grey metal chest sitting on his bookshelf. Back when he was his plain self he would’ve needed both hands to even lift it considering it was mostly constructed of lead, now he could lift it effortlessly in one hand. His father was a medical researcher and for a time had worked with radioactive isotopes. At some point he needed a bigger container and rather then scrapping it. He’d given it to his son as a present. He’d never thought that he would need it to hide anything especially from, someone with super vision.

He opened the lid and examined the object he had created with the booth the day before. Kal-El originally wanted to show what he’d created to his friend, but quickly decided to hold off on showing it to her. For now he felt that she’d overreact. Until then he closed the lid and replace the chest back on his bookshelf. He glanced at his alarm and knew that he needed to get ready for bed.

* * *

Kara sat on the bed, slightly dazed and filled with confusion. The events that had occurred in the room beyond continued to replay in her mind. Even though as their original selves they were about the same age. As Kacy she’d always looked up to her friend and sometimes had though of him as a protective brother. But what had just happened, out there had left her perplexed. She was surprised how easily it was for her to literally to melt into his arms and get wrapped up in the moment.

Kara felt some very mismatched emotions. On one side, she’d enjoyed to experience and part of her wanted to go upstairs, letting nature take its course. On the other, it Kal was still her best friend.

Trying to shake herself out of this state, when out of the blue she realized that even as Kacy she’d never been in here. From what Matt had said after his sisters wedding and subsequently moving out Matt’s Mom had resisted packing up and sending Lydia’s things to her new address. Sometimes parents just don’t know how to let go, she thought shaking her head sadly. Her eyes swept the obvious feminine styled room before noticing a full-length mirror sitting in the corner. Apparently, because of her distracted emotional state she came to the realization that she hadn’t yet made personal examination of her new self.

Avoiding looking at her reflection she nervously strode purposely to the mirror and stood there for a few minutes. Until she felt that she was ready, she finally opened her eyes and slowly started to examine herself first hand. The strange booth’s display was almost as good as HD TV, but seeing her actual reflection was something else entirely. She was gorgeous. Kara Lewis had been a good template for her to use as the basis for Kara Zor-El. The first part of her face she was drawn too were her penetrating sky blue eyes, she’d changed the color from brown to the ones staring at her now. She’d decided that she liked the sexy pert nose and the thin lined eyebrows. But she’d felt that it would be better if Supergirl had some more fuller lips, better sculpted cheek bones, and far more delicate looking chin. When she was working on the hair she’d liked how silk like Kara Lewis’s hair was and other straightening out some of the natural curls and changing it to a much lighter blond, did she feel it looked right.

Part of her was actually glad that Kal-EL was upstairs, she had to admit seeing herself in modern but darker color themed looking costume, Matt had insisted on both of them having matching material as well as the overall design of his, looked and felt spectacular on her. It almost seemed like a second skin by how subtle and deceiving it fit on top over her large but still deceiving muscles and how gracefully it seemed to follow the rather eye-catching curves of her body.

Kara’s finger tip traced the raised ‘S’ insignia on her chest, her other hand slowly drifted downward past her golden belt before the tip of her index finger rested about mid thigh as well as riding along the hem of her red skirt. Both it and her red cape, which went just past, the lower calves of her legs, moved freely and felt like finely, woven silk. She doubted either her or Kal-El could even damage it, since it was several hundred magnitudes stronger then even Kevlar and with its own abilities it possessed given enough time it was practically self repairing.

Her lightly tanned skin was incredibly smooth and sensuously soft, she almost had trouble believing that it was also impervious to bullets. At the same time as she studied her reflection it suddenly occurred to her that in all the excitement, Kara realized that neither one of them had never attempted to try out the morphing capabilities of either of their costumes.
A mischievous grin slowly started to grow on her attractive face. Not fully sure on how exactly to make it change form she did what anybody else might of tried. She closed her eyes and pictured in mind what form her garment should assume. Standing there with her eyelids firmly shut, keeping her in darkness she made observation that whatever that strange booth was it had somehow had enough foresight to make it impossible for her to see through even her own eyelids. It didn’t matter if she was plunged in darkness she felt her costume shifting and reforming itself around her body. When the sensation finally stopped she risked a quick peek.

“I’ll be damned it does look good on me.” She murmured so softly she was probably the only one that heard it, not even another super being could have picked it up. She hoped. Chances are that if she been wearing this halter top version, poor Kal-El might not of been able to see straight. That last thought actually made her laugh, which she promptly stifled it to prevent herself from waking him.

She had to admit she did have an exceptionally attractive tummy. With a reluctant sigh she commanded her garment to return to its original form. For a moment she toyed with the idea of changing into some attire suitable for sleeping in. But she didn’t really know if the suit’s abilities could make a distinction between conscious or subconscious commands to change. All she needed was to wake up tomorrow and find her self fully decked out in a black leather corset and thigh high stiletto boots.

Eyeing the rooms dresser cabinet she took a deep breath and having a trace of trepidation she felt going through another persons things, she started going through the drawers looking for something to wear to bed. What she found actually explained perhaps why Lydia had left some of her clothing and few things behind. In her searching she found a few items that on closer inspection of the packaging material it appeared that some of them had never been opened. After sifting through a few of the items she finally selected alluring powder blue nylon chiffon “babydoll” with a matching thong.

She sat down on the bed once more facing towards the mirror, with some excitement she started to slip out of her costume and folded it neatly beside her. Kara reached for the thong and slowly started to slide it up her legs and enjoyed the feeling of the material finally sliding up into crack of her bottom. She admired how it cupped her mons veneris, rather nicely. It occurred to her as she was enjoying dressing her self so femininely, that she was for the first time dressing as a biological female. Well at least a biologically Kryptonian female that is, she corrected herself mentally. Once she completed that task Kara gathered up the “babydoll” carefully in her hands and lifted above her head and allowed it to cascade down her arms then on to her body. Standing upright and pulling her hair out she smoothed the top into place and went to the mirror to see how well it looked on her.

“God I’m a fox!” she purred, transfixed by her image in the mirror.

From her reflection she remembered that Lydia obviously had bigger chest then Kara did. When she had created this body she kept the bra size to a 38C but based on the how the “babydoll” hung on her frame, Lydia is at least a 40D herself. As she admired her reflection she toyed with the thought about how she might of looked if she had given in to Kal at the time. Not realizing that she had queued her limited morphing ability she had also given herself she watched as her bust suddenly started to swell outward until it fit snugly into the low-scooped neck “babydoll” with plenty of cleavage for show.

She didn’t now how long she had been standing there admiring her reflection until she remembered that they had to get up early tomorrow. She was just about to return her bust to its normal size but decided to keep them this way till tomorrow morning. Kara quickly finished getting ready for bed, she moved all the articles of her costume to a nearby chair and after sneaking back into the family room to collect her bag, she then grabbed her toothbrush and using one of Lydia’s hair brushes she combed out her hair until she was satisfied.

Before getting into bed she thought to herself to close all the drawers and in doing so she noticed that she had missed another unopened package. Out of curiosity she opened it and to her shock and amusement she found a vibrator shaped like a penis. She didn’t know why she just couldn’t put it down and go to bed, like she had planned to do. To her surprise she hurriedly closed the drawer and with the vibrator still in her hand she climbed into the sheets, turned off the lamp beside the bed and laying flat on her back. After, turning the vibrator on and a few false starts Kara felt herself growing wet between her legs.

Moving her thong to one side she spread her legs further apart as she probed around her clitoris and her wet slit with the vibrator. As the pleasure started to grow and not really thinking about it, she just knew that she needed to massage the erect nipples of her enlarged breasts through the sheer material. As the raging sensation continued building up in her sensitive nether regions she, slowly started to push the phallus deeper into her and then pull it out again, before repeating the process. Each time going deeper then previously. In the part of her mind where she was still somewhat coherent she marveled at the fact that irregardless how invulnerable her body had been designed it was, for now it was very sensitive to her own ministrations.

She felt the pressure growing quicker now and for the first time Kara Zor-El climaxed in passion, she didn’t no how loud she was, she really didn’t care. Kara moaned in pleasure while her body quaked from the orgasm. Slumped back into bed, Kara basked for a few minutes enjoying her post orgasmic bliss. She placed her hand on her vaginal area and was surprised by how little vaginal secretions there were compared to the other times she had masturbated as boy.

After a quick time check she straighten out her sheets and clothing, she turned out the light, and quickly fell a sleep. With her lips still smiling softly.

A part of her wanted him to stop, but that small weak voice of protest had been fading away with ever increasing speed for a while now. For the part of her that remained it was contented just to let her lay on her back as he skillfully stroked tenderly the inner borough of her parted thighs with his fingertips. Kara would never thought it would be possible to become so aroused by other persons merely touch her, but the growing euphoric bliss she was experiencing proved her wrong. Before she became to accustom to the pleasant ecstasy she was experiencing Kal-El with deftness of skills she had no idea he possessed switched tactics and moved his head downward. She was quickly overwhelmed by his exquisite technique of using his lips and probing tongue. With expertly skill he began to drive her into newer heights. She parted her legs even further and reveled in the experience.

“Oh… Kal-El…!” She thought she heard herself moan aloud as the feminine part of her started to take over. Kara Zor-El needed to do something now, whatever force or impulse had been holding her back, was quickly losing under the constant attack of her raging emotions and the outside assault from Kal-El’s pleasuring efforts. It was only a matter of time before she or her partner would take the initiative. By now it was very obvious to either one of them that his efforts were causing her to grow ever increasingly wetter and she wanted nothing more for - The sound of the alarm next to her snapped her back into reality. She didn’t mean to, but the clock having served its intended purpose would never again be able to perform its task again she observed mildly. Sitting upright in bed now fully awake she studied her hand in amazement as well as the scattered remains of the clock.

“Are you alright, Kara? I couldn’t help hearing-“ Kal’s concerned voice called through the door. Startled by his unexpected presence Kara’s eyes darted to the door and before she knew that she was causing it to happen. The door seemly appeared to dissolve into nothing. Revealing Kal-El standing on the other side looking concerned as he waited for her to respond. She didn’t know how long she had been staring at him but she found herself admiring his bare muscled chest and wide shoulders the feelings it raised brought her back to reality.

“Kara?” He asked again shifted his balance as he reached for the doorknob.

“I’m fine K-Kal… just having some-“ She paused looking at once had been a clock before switching her attention back to him. “Technical difficulties with your sister’s alarm clock. That’s all.” She answered carefully at the same time as she was trying to stop staring at him like he was a piece of meat. Privately she wondered what sort of changes had the booth done to her to make her have such a intense dream and now for her to gawk at him so intently standing outside the door, wearing just his pajama bottoms.

“Ahem… Well…” he coughed before continuing. “I was only coming down to see if you were awake and to tell you that breakfast is almost ready.” Not waiting for a reply he started up the stairs before pausing to saying. “Come on upstairs when you’re ready Kara.”

“Thanks Kal… I’ll be joining you after straightening up in here.” She responded finally. She was watching him intently was he simply shook his head sideways before continued his way up the stairs. It didn’t occur to her until after watching him leave, that he’d probably been watching her through the door was well. Feeling mixture of embarrassment and anger that he’d might have violated her privacy she forgot the fact that she’d been ogling him without regard to his own privacy.

Kara pushed her bed spread away and swung her tanned legs out onto the carpeted floor trying her best not to step on any of the odd pieces of debris from the former clock now scattered about. Standing upright she stretched upwards and tried working kinks she had discovered in her neck and back. In the process it wasn’t hard for her to miss the shifting weights on her chest or ignore the wet dampness along her back or between her legs.

Deciding to ignore the issue. She started following a long established morning routine from childhood by making up the bed and in the process she found the vibrator she’d used the night before caught up in the sheets. Kara picked it up and trying not to look at it anymore then she had to she quickly returned it back to the drawer where she’d found it. As a small part of her wondered what had possessed her to try it, another wondered if her friend might of spotted it and worried what he thought about her using it.

* * *

Kal-El walked purposely into the kitchen with the intent of keeping his promise to her about having breakfast ready. He knew he had to think about something else other then replaying in his mind about seeing how his best friend was dressed like that. Granted he understood that for many women they preferred to sleep in material that wouldn’t irritate their sensitive skin he didn’t realize the effect it would have on his male hormones when he caught her wearing it. It didn’t matter that she still looked like she had just woke up with her blonde hair tousled like it had been; she was quite stunning to look at. He did not mean to spy on her after hearing the alarm clock buzzed it last breath. He had simply become curious when he heard her calling his name, so he decided to check on her. Thinking she might have needed him for something.

The feelings he was experiencing would have surprised him if he knew that she at that moment was dealing with these complex emotions as well. Unbeknownst to the either one of them. They were already starting to feel that it wasn’t wrong anymore to experiencing this alien feelings or that Kal-El was beginning to think of his friend as a she. Or that Kara was beginning to grow more accustomed to her persona. Nor did they wonder that if they didn’t change back in the near future they might not be able to resist the almost magnetic attraction between them.

Kara had quietly climbed the stairs and before long was standing there in the kitchen doorway for several moments watching him unaware of her presence, thinking that he was wrapped up in their food preparation and to busy to notice her. Kara cleared her throat to greeted him.

“Morning Kara I hope that you happen to like-“ Kal-El began somewhat startled before turning around and caught sight of her. Whatever he was going to say was forgotten when he observed how attractive she looked just standing there. He observed that she must have found in his sister’s things an alluring red silk robe that complemented her powder blue colored sleepwear.

“So I was saying… I mean I’m making... Do scrambled eggs sound alright with you?” His voice stumbled finally; still captivated by her.

“Scrambled eggs will be just fine. If you want I can set the dishes out?” She asked demurely, quietly enjoying the affect she was having on him.

“Thanks that would let me finish up over here.” He agreed before returning his attention back to the skillet and its contents. From the sound of clinking plates and things he guessed she was busying herself with placing the items on the table. Taking a deep breath he turned around and set the plate of scrambled eggs on the table and looked inquisitively at her. “Kara I want to say something about last night- and this morn-“

Kara moved closer to him and gently put a finger to his lips in order to silence him. “We were just caught up in the moment Kal. For now lets just eat and then get ready to go, and maybe later we can talk about it.”

Kal readily agreed. They both sat down together and started to eat. She had to admit that the eggs tasted good.

They spent the next hour talking about small things they noticed since their transformation. Occasionally she noticed that his eyes were wandering down towards her chest lingering briefly before returning. She didn’t mind it however because she’d also been allowing her gaze to wander about his bare chest. The experience was almost getting her damp between the legs. Remembering her experience last night, Kara decided she needed to think about something less distracting.

“By the way, I believe that I owe your sister a new clock it appears that I’d crushed hers by accident.” She apologized trying to change the subject. Pausing to drain the last remaining drops of her orange juice, she waited. Hoping that he would take the bait.

“I wouldn’t worry to much about it. I doubt anyway if she needs it. I have to admit that I too had my own un-intentional use of my powers myself.” With Kara prodding him to he continued, “Well, I guess that I must have been dreaming about flying. Because, when I woke up I was floating directly above my bed I’d say about three or four feet. If I hadn’t caught myself I would’ve crashed into it.”

Kara found she couldn’t help laughing as she pictured him floating above his bed like that. That however, changed when Matt used his experience as an opening about how they should use their newly acquired means of travel to get to the convention. She had incorrectly assumed that he was going to drive, but he apparently had other ideas.

“Kara I just don’t see why we need to drive its going to take almost eleven hours to get there, if we do. Instead we should just simply fly there, using our own powers no less.” Kal-El began.

“I just don’t think it’s a very good idea. What would happen if someone were to see us actually flying on our way there?” She replied cleaning up the table.

“So some nobody sees us, what harm could it do? What’s the point of having these super powers if you can use them.” He demanded. Ever since his dream this morning he had been planning on giving it a try. He couldn’t understand why his best friend was being like this; he thought she’d jump at the chance.

Kara sighed inwardly and looked directly at him. “Kal-El, The harm is letting people believe in something that isn’t real. If we suddenly show up in Las Vegas as two super heroes in the so-called flesh and blood, we might have to answer some difficult questions. And I for one don’t want anybody else to know who I really am or how we changed ourselves. Would you?” Her voice pleaded. Her best friend eventually did give in but only after she promised him that on the way back home they would stop somewhere in a secluded area and then see how well they’d designed their powers in the remote Nevada dessert.

With that crisis adverted Kal-El went to his bedroom to change into his costume and Kara went back into the room where she’d left hers. Before long she was wearing costume she tried morphing it into varying types of feminine dress, before finally settling on a pair of light blue cropped pants with a conservative grey tank top. After a few additional modifications such as some wedge cork sandals, and had even found a worn but still useable tan colored purse to use. She then concentrated on morphing her physical features, like darkening her hair color till she was satisfied that she didn’t look anything like her alter persona. On a whim she even decided to keep the 40D breasts she’d changed last night. It actually went with her supposed secret identity, after all who would go from bigger to smaller if they could, she reasoned. Satisfied with how her appearance looked she packed a few items like the sleepwear and silk robe she used and a few other toiletries that she had found along with an overnight bag she’d found in the closet.

Both of them congregated back in the living room, and she silently noted with approval that he had with the exception of his muscles had changed his appearance so he looked like an improved version of Matt Kirkwood. He was carrying his belongings in one arm as well as the strange metal case in the other.

“Matt, why are you bringing that?” Kacy asked concerned. They had agreed during breakfast that they should use their original names for their secret identities. He had pointed out to her that since her birth name in particular worked for both girls as well as boys, she didn’t need to worry about forgetting it. She had to agree with his logic but it bothered her slightly about how pointedly he had stated it so simply. As if he’d thought about it before, she found herself asking the question.

“Well since were not going to be flying ourselves I can’t see why I couldn’t take it along. Besides we might need it at some point, so I’m bringing it.” Matt’s tone meant he didn’t want her to challenge him. She relented for now and followed him to the car.

* * *

“Well then tell me what you think I should’ve done. David threatened me last night that if we didn’t take him along with us. He’d show the video he made of us in the pool house last month, to our parents.” Alyssia demanded. Paul had to admit that his girlfriend had probably made the best choice. But she should’ve known that her little brother was a born manipulator, and it irritated him how easily Alyssia always seemed to give him a second chance. She even had gone as far as protecting him when he should’ve been punished. He had not quite figured out why she seemed to look out for her, especially when it seemed he wouldn’t ever do the same for her in return.

“Please, Paul say something!”

Paul Haywood sighed inwardly before setting aside his clipboard with the halfway-completed preflight checklist.

“Alyssia, when was the last time that spoiled brat brother of yours ever kept a promise he made? You know that he only looks out for himself and wouldn’t hesitate stabbing you, I or anybody else in the back if he thought he could gain something from it.” Her stiff silence was the normal response he had come to expect. He knew her well enough that she’d try to defend him.

“He’s still my brother, and I his older sister. I need to watch over him.”

He would’ve responded to her misguided attempt to stand up for her sibling, if the cabin door to his airplane’s cockpit had not popped open revealing the thin sinuous face of David Vandenhoff. The first time Paul had the misfortune to be introduced to Alyssia’s younger brother, he knew instantly that he wouldn’t like him. That had been almost three years ago and his initial assessment had proven correct.

“Ah… Two little love birds, alone.” David sneered as he stepped further in before motioning back the way he had come in. “If you’d like I could give you a few more minutes.” He suggested in a friendly tone that was anything but.

Not willing to be baited Paul instead asked if all of the luggage of his newest passenger had been loaded in the cargo hold.

“How should I know something like that, my bodyguard had better be loading it. After all that’s what my parents pay him for right?” The tone of his girlfriend’s little brother almost made if want to punch him in the face. Even though Paul had grown up in a privileged environment he had been raised never to look down on others less fortunate. Instead he was encouraged since he could remember to help people if possible. Paul diplomatically asked David if his bodyguard would be coming also. He actually liked the older gentleman and on occasions had interesting conversations about the man’s experiences in the US Marine Corps.

“I should think not! I’ve managed to convince him that his services are not really required since I’m to be in the accompany of a martial arts master.

Paul Haywood was quite proud of his mastery of several forms of martial arts he’s managed to become skilled at in his life. Lately he was even prouder that with a little portion of his private fortune and his participation his dojo was helping battered woman learn ways how to defend themselves when circumstances warrant it. For him he had only once needed to utilize his hard earned skills when the very person talking to him now unwisely challenged him. Thinking that his own martial arts skills were a match. Paul knew that despite the amount of money David’s parents had spent on trying to make their only son happy. He lacked the discipline and the patients to learn from anybody more knowledgeable then him.

“David I don’t think that Daddy is going to like this! Remember that last time during sprin-” David cut her off not wanting to remember the encounter with that stupid jock he’d had last year. “Well I have Master Paul Haywood here to watch out for me, and besides what dear old dad doesn’t know won’t kill him, right?”

It amazed Paul that he had the nerve to think that he’d come to his aid and he also had the audacity to threaten them with revealing something private before turning around and simply expecting that very people he was willing to betray would cover for him if the time ever came.

“I really hate to interrupt but-“ Which in truth was a lie Paul thought absently before continuing “I really need that yellow form the airport staff gave you regarding the total weight of you and your luggage. I am going to need it to finish my preflight check.”

David frowned before reaching into his back pocket and handed over the crumpled form. “So when do you think we’ll be ready to go and how long is this flight anyway?”

Taking the form and trying to smooth it out flat Paul privately tried to determine what annoyed him more the fact that he treated this necessary document so careless or that it had been intentional. Looking at his watch he paused looking at his checklist before answering

“We should be airborne in about twenty minutes and the flight is just about two hours long. If I’m left alone that is.” He said honestly privately thinking that two hours was just about enough time he could stand being confined in a tight space with this kid.

* * *

Kara took her time with massaging in the remaining traces of lotion on to her chest and arms before wrapping herself in one of the fluffy soft bathrobes’ the hotel provides to its guests. She luxuriated in its the soft gentle embrace and found herself enjoyed the experience. Prior to her transformation she would not have ever considered that she might need or enjoy performing such a feminine ritual. Fortunately she’d remembered to bring the lotion along at literally the last minute. Taking a long hot shower after checking in to the hotel, before going to the convention was just the sort of therapeutic medicine she’d needed. After the nerve-racking ride she had had to endure with her best friend at the wheel. Driving no stop for nine hours with Kal-El behind the wheel, she felt a little weak kneed about the trip home. The instant they’d hit the interstate she’d started regretted even on insisting that they take the car instead of flying there by using their powers. It was almost as if Kal-El had wanted to get back at her by driving like they were in some cross country race. That thought had crossed her mind more then once during most of the trip to Las Vegas.

Despite being theoretically invulnerable to practically almost all forms of physical injury, the mental and emotional distress she’d experienced afterward probably could mean years of therapy. She thought wistfully as she managed to get her long hair wrapped into a towel and opened the bathroom door. Kal-El still lying on his side of the bed when she had started her shower was still flipping through the channels. She’d almost considered going home when she found out that they had to share a bed together, but she relented, but she had made the caveat that they both stay on their own sides.

“So you feel better now after a shower, you’ve been in there for almost and hour.” He smirked playfully, getting up from his side and making his way toward the bathroom to take a shower himself.

“Hey… Speed Racer I had to unwind after that little speed exhibition of yours, and besides ladies first.” She bantered back sitting down on the edge to the bed. He peaked back around the door “Well if your wondering I’ll be out in twenty minutes or less.” Kal stated flatly, before closing the door.

When she heard the water start, she started to unwrap herself and began donning her Supergirl costume. Looking in the mirror she abruptly remembered that she’d retained the same physical features she’d had when they’d checked in. It took her a moment but as she concentrated on her figure it instantly reverted back to her predefined 38C-26-35 measurements they had been when she stepped out of the booth for the last time the day before. Once she was satisfied with how she looked she reached into her bag that she’d brought and pulled out a makeup kit. She had also found in the bathroom in Lydia’s room. The years of putting on makeup when as a boy turned out to be good practice for her. She’d found that it was easier to apply it when her own beautiful face didn’t need very much, just a little eye shadow and liner. She selected a rose-colored lip-gloss and finished it up with a touch of perfume. Pulling off the towel she used a blow dryer and a brush to comb out the tangles and smooth out her blonde hair.

As she admired herself she wasn’t aware that her roommate was standing already in his costume watching her from the bathroom doorway.

“Well, It took you long enough.” He said startling her and privately enjoying watching her jump with a gasp.

“Damn it Kal-El. DON’T DO THAT!”

“Jeez I’m sorry… Look I couldn’t resist. You were so focused on checking your self out in the mirror you didn’t notice me standing there.” Kal-El said defensively holding his hands up to ward off any potential blows.

“I was not checking — Oh never mind are you ready to go to the convention center?” She demanded.

“Yeah I think I’m ready — Wait Kara I almost forgot something!” He said striding over to the table and picking up the metal case and then sliding it under the bed. “OK! I’m really ready. Just remember to stay in character.” If he was expected a response she thought he’s not going to get it.

* * *

Kara felt satisfied that their room door was locked now, after hearing the faint but still audible click of the automatic lock engage. She was about to direct her attention back to Kal, when a rather annoying voice interrupted her.

“You both need to tell me where you got your costumes. I’ve got to get myself one!”

Like Kal-El and Kara, the interloper and his two other companions were also dressed in superhero costumes. She had to admit that despite the fact that their own costumes never mind their powers were created out of some sort of futuristic machine she was impressed by the quality of their costumes. She was slightly put off by this kid’s intrusive manner. The teenager was dressed as Superman himself, but in spite of the quality of his padded costume, his obvious gangly physique contrasted rather sharply with the fictional hero he was trying to depict. She tried not smirk or laugh at his apparent attempt to look like something he wasn’t

“David Please!” The one dressed as Wonder Woman snapped looking very embarrassed. “My name is Alyssia Vandenhoff. I’m really must apologize for my bother’s behavior.” Alyssia said embarrassed once again by even being related to him.

“Hi my name is Paul Haywood, I really like your costume. You must of put a lot of time into it” Paul said joining the conversation, shaking hands with Kal-El.

“Thank you, I think your costumes look great too. My name is Matt and this is my girlfriend Kacy-,” He said evenly paying no attention to the stunned look Kara gave him. Alyssia noticed her reaction and gave Kara a friendly smile. Kara smiled back at her the act strangely made her feel better.

Oblivious to this non-verbal byplay Kal-El continued “However I was thinking in keeping in the spirit of the ComicCon just call me Kal-El and her Kara Zor-El, might as well as stay in character right?” He laughed. David rolled his eyes not liking the fact that he was being ignored by the others had finally had enough.

“I don’t know about the four of you, but I don’t want to stand here in the middle of a hallway.” David exclaimed then to make his point started walking deliberately towards the elevator. He hated to be ignored and his body language showed it.

“David would you grow up for once. Can’t you be considerate of others at least for a short while?” Paul demanded. He was already getting sick of having to deal with him. At least once they were down stairs David would probably disappear into the crowd. As a group they walked together down the long hallway towards the elevator joining David who was still waiting.

While they waited the four of them made small talk about the convention and it wasn’t long till the doors of the elevator car slide open revealing an empty cab. Kara noticed that as Alyssia was about to board she stopped amid stride leaning against the wall beside the door.

“Are you Ok?” She asked concerned.

“Oww…that’s it! I really hate to be a bother to you Kacy… Sorry I mean Kara would you mind helping me adjust this corset it’s really pinching into me.” Her smug little brother snickered before Paul glared at him to stop. Kara hesitated unsure about what to do. From watching television and watching girls at school she knew that women were far more open about doing things like this, then men ever were. But she hadn’t been a female very long, and found herself hesitating to act.

“Alyssia/Kara we’ll be looking for the two of you in the hall’s atrium when you come down.” Both Paul and Kal-El said in unison. Not knowing how she could get out of it Kara stepped out of the cab and allowed the doors to close.

“I’m really sorry about this, I could’ve asked Paul to do it, but considering he was the one who’d laced me up in first place. He did me up in too much of a hurry and a smidgen harder then I liked.” She winced using Kara as support while walking slowly back to her suite’s door. Fishing her keycard out of her costume she quickly opened the door and allowed both of them in before closing it.

Tossing her keycard onto the table she walking over to the mirror. She quickly removed the decorative cowling then without any trace of immodesty Alyssia unzipped the front of her corset thereby freeing her breasts allowing to bound free.

Kara didn’t know what to say, her crimson red cheeks would say it for her instead. Other then her first time of seeing her own bare breasts this was her first occasion of viewing a pair other then her own. Alyssia cupped her large breasts with her hands covering her perky nipples and smiled deliberately.

“You’re from a small town aren’t you?”

“What makes you say that?” Kara asked hesitantly wondering why her companion had even asked it. She did not consider Longmont, Colorado being that small of a community.

Alyssia turned again to face mirror in order to adjust her corset liner better. “I meant no offense. If that’s what you’re thinking - your obvious bashfulness and I should say very delightful innocence about seeing me without a top on, tells me that your not used to being around other girls. You don’t have any sisters?” Kara’s silence affirmed what Alyssia expected about her attractive companion. Privately she wondered why Kara’s mother hadn’t taught her the things she needed to learn. She gathered her corset up and after loosening the pull cords she wrapped herself in it and zipped the front up again.

“Could you help me cinch my waist up, now?” Alyssia asked sweetly turning her back revealing the cords for Kara. After a moment of hesitation Kara gingerly grabbed the pull cords and under Alyssia coaching tightened the corset around her new friend. Kara had to be careful about how hard she tugged on the cords, not wanted to injure Alyssia, by being careless about inadvertently using her super strength.

“O.K. —“ she gasped. “I think that it’s tight enough.” She managed sounding a bit breathless. Kara tied off the lines and tucked the loose material into evident pocket intended for such a purpose. “Thanks Kacy- I mean Kara.” She said turning around to face her new friend.

“Kacy is fine with me, Alyssia.” She said sitting on the edge of the bed. Kara didn’t know why, but she felt comfortable talking to her. Perhaps this is what they mean by woman bonding, she thought privately.

Alyssia reattached her cowling of her costume to the corset and grinned at Kara. “Guys really don’t have any idea what lengths we go to look so appealing to them, right?” Kara nodded shyly and on an impulse looked at her reflection in the mirror.

“You are very beautiful Kacy, your boyfriend is very lucky to have you as a girlfriend. Of course I should say he is a rather handsome catch himself.” Alyssia offered standing next to her so the mirror caught them together.

Kara blushed profusely and looked up at Alyssia. “Alyssia I need to tell you that he isn’t really my boyfriend, we’ve been friends since we’re both kids. But-.” Alyssia smiled and nodded her head before saying. “I suspected as much-” she paused noticing a change in Kara demeanor. “Kacy sometimes people can find that they are kindred souls even after being friends for a long time.”

“Alyssia… its just that I… haven’t always looked like this, and-“ She stopped amid sentence not sure how to continue. How do you tell someone that you could change things about yourself with some strange metal case, she thought. Alyssia sat next to Kara and put a friendly arm around her, taking pity on the confused girl. She had always been fond of acting, as matchmaker of sorts for couples who’d hadn’t fully felt cupid arrow yet. Alyssia could see that her new friend needed her help. To be quite honest she liked a challenge. With the right help this girl will be breaking hearts in no time, she thought secretly.

“Listen sometimes girls are just late bloomers, but I ought to say that it must of been worth the wait in your particular case. I meant what I said earlier; Kacy you are quite stunning to behold. I have friends who have spent tens of thousands just because they didn’t like how their breasts were shaped or god know what else they didn’t like about themselves. You have it so enjoy it”

Kara thought better then to disagree with her friend’s belief about her being a late bloomer she couldn’t help thinking about the sheer irony of her statement, because since she’d used the booth the day before Alyssia was right, but did not know it. “Alyssia its not like I wanted this to happen, but until fairly recently I’ve been having this feelings-“

“About Matt?” Alyssia interrupted. Already knowing the answer.

“Well…yes, but it isn’t right we-“ Kara continued but stopped and looked pitifully at Alyssia, she did know what else to say. To her surprise she didn’t need say anything more, instead she found herself in a sisterly embrace with Alyssia and Kara realized that she needed it. She really couldn’t talk to Kal-El about what she was feeling. I guess it is easier for girls to open up to each other about some things, she speculated. Alyssia was a very attractive woman, but right now Kara didn’t feel anything towards her other friendship and sympathetic support.

“Thanks Alyssia for talking. I just feel so confused lately.” Kara murmured into her friend’s raven black hair. She hadn’t realized when she first met Alyssia that her hair was its natural color, or that it was even softer then her own.

“Talking helps, especially when it’s just between two girlfriends. Just be patient and let mother nature run its course and I can promise you that everything will work itself out.” Alyssia comforted Kara before sitting back. When she did do she finally noticed what the time it was, by the clock nest to her and Paul’s bed stand.

“Come on!” She cried pulling herself and then Kara upright. “We’ve been up here for almost an hour. The guys are going to be wondering what is taking us so long.” She continued busying herself with checking and correcting any last minute flaws in her makeup. No sure why she was doing it herself Kara subconsciously checked her own makeup, and with Alyssia’s help she made a few minor touch ups.

“Ready?” Alyssia inquired having completed her touch ups last. Kara simply nodded and followed her new friend towards the elevator.

* * *

Kara breathed a sigh of relief as the doors slid open long enough for its passengers to quickly exit. Their hasty effort was more of an attempt to distance themselves from the incident that had just occurred just before their arrival. She didn’t say anything she only watched one of them in particular as he tried to slip away.

“Don’t worry about him, he deserves what you did to him!” Alyssia announced firmly still offended by the whole encounter. Both of them watched the young man trying his best to distance himself from them, but the newly acquired limp only slowed him down. Since the encounter he avoided making eye contact with any other person; especially with his would be victim.

“Honestly, I didn’t mean to hurt him I just wanted him to stop.” She answered defensively. Alyssia had wanted to call the police and have him taken away, but considering that Kara’s ID was fake and technically she really wasn’t supposed to exist. She had instead declined her new friend’s offer and had threatened not to press charges if the police had become involved anyway. Fortunately for both her and the offending young man Alyssia relented on trying to change her friend’s mind. But more importantly for Kara she’d luckily had only pressed down his foot with her heel instead of stomping on it like she had wanted to. A quick look with her x-ray vision showed that while he might have a limp for a few days no lasting damage had been done.

“Kac… I mean Kara he should be going to jail. In the first place he wouldn’t taken the hint that you weren’t interested. He then has the nerve to ‘supposedly’ stumble into to you like that and accidentally grope your breast in the process.” Alyssia said not realizing that she was trying to be, as protective to her like an older sister wiser in the ways of the world would do. She privately assumed that Kara behavior was the result of her small town up bringing and not having mentor to teach her.

“I know… I know, but I’m saying that I could’ve really hurt him, by accident.” Kara said. The memory of what had occurred with the alarm clock earlier was now after the fact more vivid in her mind from this morning. She tried not to shudder as she imagined what she could’ve done to his hapless foot.

Alyssia not fully comprehending her new friend’s inner turmoil she quickly decided to change the subject by suggesting that they find their wayward boyfriends. In the process she put arm around her in a sisterly embrace leading Kara in search of the other members of their group.

“Well it took you girls long enough to find us. What were you two both up to?” Paul had greeted them in mock seriousness before breaking into a grin and taking his girlfriend up into his arms pressing his lips into hers. She didn’t resist, instead she kissed back enthusiastically.

“I just wanted to take some time to get better acquainted with my new friend here.” She answered finally; still savoring their kiss she hoped that Kara hadn’t become too uncomfortable by that display. She just wanted to demonstrate how rewarding a simple kiss could be. Alyssia was about to ask what had they been doing to occupy themselves when she noticed someone missing from their little gathering.

“Paul, where’d David disappear to?” She asked looking about, feeling the same sense of dread she always felt when ever she didn’t know where he was. Ever since she could remember David always getting into some sort of trouble. His temperamental attitude that because he was from a rich family also meant that he was superior to others had been the real reason he needed a bodyguard. Alyssia’s parents to be fair in how they treated their children had also given her the option of having one like her brother. She’d refused she felt safe with Paul and couldn’t think of anybody who could do a better job than he. But in her brothers case she actually liked the idea that someone was watching him. A few years ago she had discovered a terrible dark hobby that he had apparently been caught up in for several years. She had never confronted him or told anybody including her parents or even Paul who she had just started dating. However since then she had only known that David’s temper and aggressive behavior had to be watched and hopefully curtailed by someone being present.

“He being his normal self Alyssia, he took off in sulking as usual. Just before you ladies decided to grace us with your presence. He had been arguing about details about Superman and his Kryptonian heritage with Ma…Kal-El —“ He paused looking at Kara and Kal-El before leaning closer to his girlfriend’s ear and whispered. “I know I told you before coming here, that you’re going to meet some people who are really into this superhero stuff. And I also know that I said some people begin to identify with their character, but the way he was able to talk your brother down about some of the more trivial points of how Kryptonian DNA is supposedly structured he had me almost believing that it could be possible.”

Alyssia looked back at Kal-El and Kara and studied them both. From the short time she’s been with Kara she didn’t get the sense that she was like any of the people Paul had cautioned her about. But her observation of Kara’s potential boyfriend had been another matter, then a thought she never really considered occurred to her.

Glancing deviously at Kara’s standing next to her man wearing her revealing costume and then it made perfect sense. Whispering into her boyfriend’s ear. “Well Kacy or should I say Kara doesn’t seem to be like that, I believe that she just wants to be with him, and is willing to put up with his hobby. Like I happen to do.” Both Alyssia and Paul missed the nonverbal byplay between their two companions. She failed to notice the anxious look of concern on Kara’s face as her eyes jumped to wear Kal-El was standing.

That was when everything and everyone just seemed to stop. Every person within the atrium heard if not felt the rapid popping sound of metal catastrophically failing reverberated along the glass walls of the convention center.

“Oh my God! The skywalk is collapsing.” Someone cried pointing upward in horror. Another person in the crowded atrium foyer called for someone to call the authorities. The spectacle going on above them was something almost straight out of an action movie. Seven stories above the Comic Book Convention a recently installed skywalk platform once suspended out into the atrium now was slanted downward and threatened to crash onto the foyer floor below.

“Someone call the fire department! There are people still on the platform!” Someone in the crowd cried. People on the glass bottomed clung to whatever they could find. At first Alyssia didn’t want to believe her own eyes. But the she’d seen that all to familiar costume of his to hope differently

“David!” Alyssia screamed feeling sick and weak in her knees leaning into Paul for support.

She wasn’t alone almost the entire crowd was at this point screaming or shouting for anybody to do something. The convention hall was turning into pure chaos some of the Comic Book Con goers were crowding the exits. While others amazingly had their cell phones out and were recording the spectacle. Some of those watching were half convinced that this was just a staged event for the Convention.

“Kara…” Kal-El voice called to her as if it was coming from a haze. Kara looked away from the horror above them to look intently at her best friend. Neither one of them had to really say anything; both of them knew that help would be to late unless they acted. However, in doing so would expose them and in spite of his desire to use his powers, Kara noted that he needed her approval to use them.

“I know Kal-El but what choice do we have?” She murmured so softly that only he could hear, taking her hand into his. With a sad nod he said firmly “I take care of this there is no need for you to reveal yourself unnecessarily.” Not saying anything else he let go of her had and soared upward to the utter amazement of everybody present. Kara wasn’t watching him instead she found herself looking of her newest friends Alyssia and Paul shifting the gaze between Kal-El and herself.

“Kara?” Alyssia started to mouth but was drowned out by a collective gasp came out from the crowd. Kara smiled weakly at Alyssia before looking upward to watch too. She oddly was feeling pride and admiration as Kal-El grasped the edge of the platform and as if he was lifting piece of particleboard he carefully leveled it out.

Kal-El smiled at the people that had moments before been holding on to something for their lives. Who now could only star at Kal-El in disbelief despite there close brush with death.

“I think Ladies and Gentleman, that this is your floor.” He suggested good-naturedly. He didn’t need to repeat himself as every one of them including David quickly scrambled off the platform. David however stopped at the edge and turned to face his rescuer.

“Superman? Its impossible!” Someone cried from below.

Kal-El was a little too preoccupied with the skywalk to notice. He had hoped on the way up that he could somehow fix it but after seeing the damage up close he knew that it probably would be safer if he carefully brought the platform wreckage to the ground floor. He worked the platform just enough to finally break it free and then still holding it in his hands he slowly descended downward.

A piece of metal conduit that probably had started working itself loose as the skywalk swayed freely now dropped way toward the crowd below. The silence in the hall was profound, not surprisingly the only audible sound available was of people’s camera cell phones, which were now snapping shot after shot of the scene playing out before them. Kara noticed that the conduit was falling directly towards someone.

Kara reacted before she even knew that had done so. She raced across the foyer faster then the human eye could track and caught the heavy metal casing seconds before it could have killed the young man still frozen in place.

This was the first time she had really used her super strength and it amazed her how light it felt suspended over her head in extended arms. Before she set it down safely.

“Tha-Thank You Supergirl… “ He turned as if to walk way but stopped and looked regretfully in her eyes. “I’m sorry about what I did earlier.” The young man stammered before moving way as fast as he could. It took her a moment to realize that the person she had just saved was the same one who’d tried to hit on her in the elevator.

Superman descending with the wreckage firmly in his hands to the ground floor. Just as Kal-El was touched down on the ground floor Kara noticed that David who foolishly was standing at the edge. Now was loosing his balance and began to fall downward. He definitely would’ve died if Kara had not reacted. David only fell a few feet before he found himself being held firmly in Kara’s arms.

“You’ve got super powers also?” He asked stupidly then before she could react he hugged her tightly. Kara only nodded as she wordlessly floated gently downward so he could rejoin his sister and she could be with Kal-El.

Only once apparent that crisis was over did the mob of bystanders finally react. The roar of applause was almost deafening, the very walls of the atrium reverberated with the cries of Superman and Supergirl. Kara Zor-El and Kal-El silently stood together now the center of attention. The sporadic flashes from digital cameras scattered amongst the encircling horde bathed the two reluctant heroes in a wash of light. It wasn’t too much of a stretch of imagination to expect that in a few short hours. Almost every major media outlet worth its salt would be broadcasting the episode. Kal-El took Kara protectively into his arms and held her close. She could feel the crowd moving closer towards them for a closer look.

“Kal… I think if stay any longer, we’re going to have something else to worry about.” Kara whispered. Her adrenalin already draining away she felt spent.

“What do you mean, Oh…“ Kal-El asked feeling rather foolish. He’d hadn’t noticed that of the people heading their way two individuals pushing their way closer towards them appeared to be professional news team.

“Kal… I’m really feeling uncomfortable, I don’t think I can handle this?” Kara whispered nervously. Watching apprehensively as the cameraman brought his equipment up and centered his female counterpart in his eyepiece. Kal-El wanted to reassure her that everything would be ok. That was until the attractive brunette came within reach of them and looking into the camera with practiced ease, began to speak.

“This is Melissa Duran with channel eight eyewitness news and only moments ago we witnessed a rather extraordinary rescue of nearly a dozen or so guests. At this years Comic Book Convention taking place at the White Castle Convention Center here in Las Vegas.” Melissa paused to listen to voice speaking to her from her ear microphone before continuing. “Before I continue, the network has just confirmed for me that this was not a staged event, according to its coordinators and sponsors. In addition the video we shot during the event is now being provided to all our network affiliates.” She smiled and stepped closer to Kal-El and Kara. It was hardly a stretch of imagination for Kara to realize that both she and Kal-El were on television and their rescue was probably being replayed even now. “It appears that our two heroes are in truth two actual Superheroes. I never thought I would be saying this but I would like to introduce Superman and Supergirl!” The assembled crowd that had grown quiet once again started to cheer even louder.

I wish I could turn invisible, Kara thought as she sheepishly waved her hand along with Kal-El. Who she’d noticed actually seemed to be enjoying himself. Melissa waited for the crowd to calm once again before continuing.

“Superman I was hoping that you’d might tell us a little about yourself. For instance from your impressive rescue it is quite obvious to us that your powers are real or are they the result of some technological wizardry?” Melissa paused long enough for Kal-El to politely assert that their powers were not fake and that they were indeed real. He went further saying that both he and Kara were not from around here. Kara could tell that he was getting carried away with it and tried to ignore it. Thankfully the Television reporter was directing most of the questions towards Kal-El and Kara had to only answer only a few of them. But when the questions turned to a more personnel nature, such if she and Kal-El were a romantically involved couple. Kara just couldn’t take it anymore, breaking free of Kal-El grasp she soared upward and using her heat vision burnt a hole in the glass skylight, before flying way as fast as she could.

* * *

As she rocketed upward into the evening sky angling her direction unintentionally westward, she tried her best at ignoring the pleas from Kal and the reporter to return. Kara Zor-El only knew that she needed to get as far away from there as fast as she could. The terrain swept below her so quickly that it abruptly switched to the dark blue of the Pacific Ocean. It had occurred to her that she was now flying over Open Ocean but her mind was occupied with the future.

What am I going to do now? She thought apprehensively. They’d planned to have a little fun at the convention, and in her case explore some of the aspects of her newfound femininity. Now by helping some innocent bystanders and doing it such public manner it had become too much for her to bear. By chance she caught sight of a small seemly-uninhabited island and decided to stop and possibly figure out what she was going to do next.

The sound of the sea crashing up onto the surf would’ve been soothing to her but instead she simply sat on a damp rock outcropping and started to sob uncontrollably into her hands.

The seemingly random flicker of light was coming from a rather dated television, but it was the only source of light in an otherwise darkened room. He didn’t mind that the Agency he’d worked for the last few years had sent him out to remote places always to work another case. What he did mind he was the fact he was now only just ten weeks out from him being forced into retirement date and they had given him a new recruit to train.

“Well so much for expecting things to go easy for me. “ He muttered aloud still watching the evening news and what the Newsies were already calling the Story of the 21st Century. It always amazed him that with each passing year they tried to squeeze more information onto the screen to the point that it was beginning to even obscure the anchor desk and its occupants. They were even now looping someone’s footage shot from of all things a person’s camera phone in a split screen. The talking heads were even at it too and they weren’t wasting time by not offering up their options about what really was going on.

“Damn gibbering monkeys! As usual they had it all wrong!” He grumbled aloud lifting his heavy girth up and out of the recliner he’d been sitting in. He reached for the remote and muted the commentator in mid sentence. He did have to admit privately at least that the reporter on scene seemed to be dealing with the whole situation rather well. “All this probably would mean a eventual boost in her career.” He said aloud for no one in particular. For him it only meant another long weekend and lots of follow up paperwork. Almost as if on queue his secure cell phone went off on his belt.

He waited patiently till the audible chirp told him that the cipher key had been accepted on both ends before speaking “Hello, This is Special Agent K speaking.” He wasn’t surprised that it was his young anxious recruit. He listened to her tempted to interrupt, but he relented and just waited for her to run out of steam.

“-So since you’re the senior officer on call…Sir haven’t you been watching any of the news channels?” The youthful Agent L asked earnestly. He did respond until he was sure that she was truly finished. From what he could recall of her file she’d worked for a about five years she had actual experience with investigations and field work experience but in his book that didn’t amount to very much when you consider what his agency dealt solely with. Even now so close to retirement he’d have nightmares about what someone might think up with those strange metal boxes.

“It looks like we’re going to Las Vegas kiddo. Are your things packed?” He said finally it was a dumb question he knew, but he asked it anyway.

“Sir, The Agency directives are quite clear about field agents always must have-” She spoke with almost drilled practice, before he interrupted her with his usual brusqueness. It annoyed him that she kept trying to impress him, by quoting the regulations for verbatim and talking about the cases she’d solved while at the Bureau. He just wanted to tell her to shut up and to do her job, and that would impress him but instead he wanted to show some tact towards her.

“I know our directives… I’m sorry that I asked a dumb question like that. We are not in class in the standard sense our classroom is out there. Have you started to make the necessary arrangements for our trip west?” He tried in his most friendliness manner he could manage. Deep inside him, he knew that she was a good kid and showed some promise. It wasn’t her fault he was being forced into retirement due to his health.

“I’m just about finished up making our arrangements we can be at the scene in less the four hours, three if we rush.” She answered promptly. From the sound coming through her cell he could hear her typing on her laptop.

“Good Job so far, I’ll meet you at the car in say fifteen minutes?” She agreed and he decided to offer her some friendly advice. “Don’t forget to keep all of your receipts on this trip and from the last one. If you’d thought it was hard trying to get reimbursement check from the Bureau. Think about how hard is going to be with a agency that isn’t supposed to exist!”

“…Understood Sir! I’ve finished arranging for our transportation.” The line went silent momentarily before she asked nervously “Do you think we can find a way to contain this?”

Special Agent K had to smile at that he had been thinking the same thing, since he’d seen the footage. Special Agent K felt he could have some levity with her now.

“Unless we’ve managed to develop a Brain Neuralizer like those guys had in the movies, I’d say yes, but since we haven’t well you know the story.” There was another silent pause, before he heard the line go dead.

* * *

For the moment Kal-EL felt as confused as everyone else. At the time he’d thought that they both were enjoying the attention, but now after the fact he realized that he should’ve been listening more closely to her and voiced concerns she’d made. Now all he could do is stare upward at the near perfect melted hole in the glass above. As far as he could guess not single drop of molten glass had landed anywhere on the crowded foyer below. He’d even called out to her, knowing she would still be able to hear his voice and perhaps change her mind and come back. Deep inside he knew this was only wishing thinking, and what he really had to do was that he needed to go after her, but he also needed to take advantage of the situation and lay the ground work for his plan here at figuratively ground zero.

Superman? Why did she do that? I only wanted to know if the two of you were a couple.” Melissa Duran asked somewhat confused, but he noted that she was recovering quickly.

“Superman isn’t she related to you?” Someone in the crowd had enough courage to call out aloud. A number of murmuring voices already seemed to have agreed with the statement. He didn’t say anything he was busy marshalling his plan and covered his inaction by looking upward towards the direction were Supergirl had fled only minutes before.

“Superman?” She repeated once more, he didn’t have to look he could almost feel that the camera was still focused on him.

“I’m sorry I think that everything was just happening to quickly for her. I probably should chase after her.” It was an opening and she took it.

“She’s very special to you isn’t she?” She asked smiling kindly towards him. She even went as far as to touch him on his sleeve as if in moral support. Kal-El nodded his head in agreement and actually meant it, he didn’t know at what point he had started to care for her, and now that she had taken off like that he begun to miss her company.

“Your right she is very special to me, but probably more than you realize.” He finally responded before pausing again, she nodded for him to continue. He originally had planned to at some point to tell his fable to a male reporter, but as he considered his options he figured that perhaps it would be better this way to have a woman’s perception of his well planned out cover story. It might give it the extra realism it would need to stand up to public option, he concluded privately.

“Kara and I have known each other since we both can remember and I made a promise to watch out for her to her parents.” He looked upward again, as if he was still looking for her.

“Are there others like you?” Melissa asked pointedly trying to gain control of her impromptu interview. She didn’t know very much about the comic book world or much about the people that followed it almost religiously. She originally had been here on assignment only to interview some of the events coordinators for a possible spot on the evening news. That assignment had changed the very moment that the skywalk had almost collapsed into the foyer bellow. That was until as if two costume characters had literally stepped out of the comic pages to save the day. If her cameraman hadn’t caught that scene on tape she wouldn’t of believed it, and now she was glad she’d come. Now she was glad that she failed in trying to pawn her assignment onto someone else with less seniority.

Kal-El’s gaze swept the growing crowd and turned to face the reporter once again. Everything that had happened recently wasn’t according to his original plan but he knew that he could make a few adjustments to it. “Miss Duran to answer your question as far as both I and Kara know there is nobody left from our world. And —“ he paused looking into the spectators he need to put a nail in this part of the story now “If anybody cares to know both Kara and I are not related by any ancestral lineage. Both of our parents were only close associates.”

Unfazed Melissa followed up with another question. “I might not know a lot about the comic book superhero universe, but this all sounds like to much of a coincidence. You or rather I should say the two of you are the supposed survivors of a dead race of aliens from a doomed world.” A number of murmured voices seemed to have agreed with another of her assessments as well.

Kal-El knew he had to be careful in how he proceeded so he selected his next words with care. “I know that it is remarkably sounds to much like a coincidence, but haven’t you considered that it just might be that, and nothing less. I’m not saying that we came from a planet named Krypton or that my name is really Kal-El or her name is Kara Zor-El. But please look at it from our own prospective Kara and I did happen to have come from a dying world. By some amazing roll of the dice we would have similar abilities that are virtually identical to a fictional race of beings you’ve named Kryptonians. While on our trek here we listened to your radio broadcasts and television transmissions almost constantly. At the time we really didn’t know what they were until we found a way to decipher them. All we knew at the time was that we had found intelligent life that was similar to us and to better understand you we went as far as to access some of your computer databases when we were much closer to world. In the hope of finding more about your species and quite by accident we’d discovered these fictional characters. Maybe it was partly vanity on my part but we both agreed that we needed a way to better integrate into your world so we decided to adopt these two fictional personas as our own. We meant no offense we’d just wanted to appear in a manner somewhat familiar and as non threatening to you as we could.”

“If this is all true then could perhaps you can tell me both of your names right now.” Kal-El acted as if he didn’t understand what she had meant. So she decided to take another approach. “I think we can all understand about your wanting to appear non threatening and I for one think we appreciate the effort. But maybe its time for you to tell us your real names and what is the name of your former world?” She countered still not fully convinced the natural skeptic of things continued its resistance, but a part of her wanted to believe.

“I wish that we could tell you but as you might guess your language is not our native language in fact I don’t think we have one of our own.” After saying that he continued cutting her off. “As we observed your world we tried learning a number of your languages but we only had time to learn one means of communicating and based on the amount of data we had collected to date we choose to learn English. You see while we have had functional vocal cords our species since as far back as our history records. We have not had need of a spoken language for several of your millennia. I’m no scholar or as you call them scientist but I think in time your species will eventually learn to do so as ours had done. All I know about why our ancestors took this step was in order to better communicate amongst ourselves and improve the flow of knowledge. Who knows perhaps just as in our case you’ll find a means to use your own minds to communicate?“ He waited for their reaction. Here was where it gets tricky now, he thought.

“So could you tell me what your name is, via your mind to mine?” She asked hopefully. She was scared of the thought of communicating this way, but it intrigued her nonetheless.

“Once again I wish we could but, we’ve discovered prior to our arrival that our brains theta patterns are tuned much differently then yours. Remember it took our species a very long time to learn how to do it and to be quite honest the means of how we finally accomplished this feat could not considered natural by any means. Our species is or was quite adept at genetic manipulation, many of our abilities we’ve demonstrated recently came from such efforts, and sadly it was one of the reasons that ultimately doomed our world and ultimately our civilization.” Kal-El finished then hoping that his actions didn’t look too artificial he tried looking upward sadly as if he was trying to find his home. He even tried pretending to have unexpectedly summoned back into existence an unpleasant memory of their supposedly tragic ordeal.

Melissa Duran looked with concern at the being before her, genetic manipulation was still in its infancy here on earth, she knew that much, but she also had heard of some of the possible horror stories it had the potential of inflicting on the world. She didn’t know why but she again reached out and touched his arm. “What happened to your world and race?” She asked compassionately.

He looked down at her and smiled weakly before starting. “Even my people have had their dark periods in our history, we were far from perfect, and regrettably we just happened to end our civilization on a rather dark chapter. A small group of our populace had in time had come to consider that mantle of godhood was within their reach. So they secretly started a eugenics program to force our species in that direction, the majority of the populace, my parents and Kara’s among them eventually caught on and rejected their program and tried their best to resist. The resulting conflict wiped out all life on our planet and planetary system.”

“That’s horrible, but how did you both escape?” She asked inquisitively. Once again there was a murmurs of agreement from the assembled crowd. Kal-El couldn’t tell for sure, but it sounded to him that the majority of them were beginning to believe it.

“Our parents saved us, they sent us off amongst the stars with the vain hope that we could find a new world to call home. That’s one of the reasons we came here, we both saw a lot of potential in your kind and wanted to help in anyway we can. In the hope that you’d take our tragic lesson to heart so you wouldn’t make the same mistakes we did. That’s the least we could do for our parents and our adoptive world.”

“You’re talking as if they are dead? Didn’t they somehow survive too?” She asked feeling sorry for him and his friend.

“By now our parents are probably are gone. At the time of the last attack Kara and I happened to be on what you’d consider an interplanetary scout vessel returning to our world. Because at the time we had been on a vital mission to the outer part of our system. I must be truthful even though we had the majority of the population eventually with us we were losing and it was only a matter of time. When he came within communication range my father contacted us and told us that under no circumstances should we return home. A genetic crippling plague engineered by the other side had gotten out of hand and somehow it had started to spread to all corners of our world. Somehow it found a means through our quarantine procedures and everybody was eventually infected. Our parents included, everybody still alive were calling both Kara and I the precious jewels of our world.” Kal-El explained he had been thinking about this part of plan ever since he found that metal case and figured out what it could do.

“So how did you both escape?” She asked the look of awe was spreading like a disease from person to person around them. He had always been told that he could tell a good story. Now for the final part of his narrative, he thought excitingly. He had though about this story for so long he was even beginning to believe it.

“Our spacecraft had very limited capabilities and was only intended for interplanetary travel. But fortunately for us our species had mastered the science of gravity exploitation to the point that we even gave ourselves a limited ability to do so by genetic manipulation.” He let that detail simmer before continuing. “Our parents and some of the others helped us the only way they could by providing us with enough gravimetric distortion that we were able to ride a wave if you could call it that from star to star. But as our ship was really designed for such travel we had a very limited means of navigating on the wave front our parents had created. What this means is after almost what you’d describe as a six thousand light year ride it ended once we departed from the wave front we’ve essentially become stranded in this system.”

“Couldn’t you just recreate that gravimetric distortion of yours?” Someone in the crowd suggested trying to help. Kal-El was ready for this sort of question and shook his head sadly once again.

“You must understand that both Kara and I are what you would call probationary apprentices or better yet in terms appropriate to your culture High School Graduates. We both had not yet elected on what sort of profession to start our apprenticeships in when the conflict between the two sides were set in motion. What this ultimately means is we actually know very little of how or why our technology works the way it does or did. We did our best by scouting the outer system for possible refuge for our side.” He paused and looked at Melissa Duran with an ashamed look on his face, and continued. “It was perhaps that reason that spared us the fate of our parents and species.” He finished even he felt like he was going to cry.

“So you’re here now what are you both going to do now!” Someone again asked from within the audience. Melissa was getting to a certain extent frustrated by the people trying to cut into her interview, but realized that this was important question. So she repeated it herself.

“We only wish to help your species by whatever means we can. I would like to emphatically stipulate that we have no desire for power and will do our best to remain neutral in your nations disputes. We however will provide assistance to people in need all we ask is that we can live in peace among you.” Kal-El finished feeling spent. The silence around him worried him, until the cheering and clapping by the people around him started to hammer him in waves like on a beach. Included among them was the lone reporter who was trying her best not to cry and was losing the fight. He waved at the crowd and in the process spotted the stunned looks of Alyssia and her boyfriend Paul. He decided it wouldn’t hurt to smile at them directly and shrugged his shoulders as if in apology for not telling them everything sooner. He returned his attention back to the reporter.

“Right now however, I really need to go find my companion. I’ll be back once I find her.” Not waiting for her or anybody else to ask another question he soared upward into the air and through the hole that Kara had made earlier. Now I just have to tell Kara that I don’t want to change back he mused as he began his search, and hopefully she was willing to listen to him and even better join him.

Elsewhere in a distant airport terminal two passengers were waited patiently for their turn to board the aircraft. They were watching the video feed that was available at the terminal gate and just as everyone else seemed to be doing. They could only stand there in amazement.

“Sir do you think that this might be something else entirely I mean other then the metallic boxes we’re commissioned to investigate?” Agent L asked quietly. The network channel switched back to their main anchor when the live feed from Las Vegas ended. From her tone he could tell that she wanted to believe it. Hell even he was tempted to believe, but perhaps he was just to damn cynical he thought as he shook his head regretfully and spoke in the same hushed tones she had.

“No this smells to me like just another case, but I do have to admit that kid sure can tell a convincing story and if we can’t turn them back into whoever they really are this might be the cover story we are looking for.

“SIR!” she said aloud before remembering where they were. “But Agency Directive 13 Section 2 says that we must contain the knowledge of those metal cases from the eyes of the public, by any means necessary.” She continued more quietly but still with the same urgency and tone she had memorized it being explained to her. He looked at her earnestly and keeping his voice level but filled with a trace of sarcasm.

“Well I didn’t bring my Brian Neuralizer, did you?” She shook her head sullenly like a child who was being corrected in the store by a parent. “Besides I don’t think we have anything in our inventory or from the DoD that could take them out. This kid may have given us a way out of this mess.” He would’ve continued in his explanation, but it was their turn to board the plane and the people behind them were growing restless once more.

Even before its doors had fully parted all the way. David un-ceremonially started pushing his way out of the elevator to get out onto his floor.

“Hey kid how about saying ‘Excuse me, Please’ next time!” An irritated voice called from within the elevator cab, just as the doors were closing. Walking quickly away, David hadn’t even bothered to look back to catch a glimpse of the individual who had the gall to call him a kid. In truth he’d known since as far back as he could remember that his lofty birth would only naturally entitle him look down on everybody beneath him. To his relief, not that it would’ve mattered too much, he nonetheless was pleased to see that no one else appeared to be on this floor. Walking down the hallway he couldn’t help to be disgusted by the outdated décor, granted it looked well kept, but he hoped that whoever had selected it had been terminated for incompetence.

Pulling out a keycard he quickly slipped into the doors reader slot and waited impatiently for it to recognize it and he was rewarded with an audible click as the doors’ locking mechanism disengaged, there by allowing him to swing the door open enough for him to enter. Not knowing how long he had, he quickly went to work, some people would regard what he did was akin to borderline kleptomania. To be honest he really didn’t give a damn what they thought. He only collected mementos from famous people, and as far as he was concerned Superman and Supergirl would more than qualify and hence fair game. Besides, he thought airily. If Supergirl was so super she should’ve noticed that when he hugged her. He was also had successfully lifted her keycard without her even knowing that he’d done so, he mused continuing his search of their room.

“Damn it! Don’t these people have anything worth taking?” he muttered in frustration. Sitting on the edge of the bed he fingered her sleepwear and decided against taking it, after all even he had standards. He stood up, feeling a little angry about not being able to leave with something. When he felt the back of his heel nudge something hidden under the bed. Not wasting any time he pulled whatever it was hidden from view and the instant he saw it he knew he’d hit paydirt. Grabbing whatever the metal box was he hurriedly snuck back to his room and with a sense of urgency he opened his own door and slammed the door shut after rushing inside. Tossing the keycard to the table he was for once happy that he’d listened to Paul and had gotten his own room. Fortunately there had been a recent cancellation when they had arrived and he’d paid cash for it.

Now with a little bit of privacy he could examine his recent prize. Needing to have some background noise, he flipped on the television and randomly selected one of the movie channels. Surprisingly the box didn’t seem to weight very much and that disappointed him that it might not have anything really inside. Still curious he began to feel around its surface when it started to quiver in his hands, and not knowing what else to do he let it drop to the floor in front of him.

“What in the Hell!” David muttered aloud. Whatever the metal box was it had transformed into something that looked more like a telephone booth or a better description would be one of those self-photography kiosks found at one of those lower class malls in local suburbia, he thought. Stepping closer to examine it he jumped unexpectedly when he heard a loud explosion nearby. Gearing himself up to explain how he’d come to have this strange thing, he turned around and quickly remembered that he turned on the television set to act as a diversion for others. The explosion had apparently come from the show that was playing at the moment. He reached for the remote and turned the sound down but still audible enough for him hear it. He’d always liked the movie Spiderman.

Still thinking about the famous web crawler he resumed his inspection of the tall man sized box. He found an odd shaped colored crystal and touched it with his hand. Staring at what had to be a display he watched in wonder, as the lifelike image of the same would be hero came into focus. Even as he was beginning to understand that he might have been the source for the image. His hand brushed against another crystal and quite abruptly a doorway that had not existed before suddenly appeared. Not knowing what else to do David stepped into the opening. As quickly as it had appeared the doorway disappeared leaving him trapped inside.

Before he could even think of crying for help the opening appeared once more. Not sure what had just happened he quickly stepped out of the booth and instantly knew something profound had just happened to him. The first sensation was feeling that he was swathed in some sort of garment that had to cover him from head to toe. It almost felt like he was naked, and it even appeared to cover his face and eyes. But he found that he didn’t have any trouble seeing. Looking downwards at himself he started to laugh he did really now exactly how but he knew that his costume had changed into the one worn by the web slinger, because of that wonderful booth.

“What the?” He could already start to tell that many other changes had been made besides his attire. He felt stronger, more alive and if he concentrated on things about him more in tune with everything nearby. On a hunch he jumped upward and with acrobatic skill he did have before now he was hanging upside down from the ceiling. Looking back at the booth and then at the television, he started to make the connection.

“Holly Shit! This is so perfect!” Just then he felt what was best described as an electric jolt travel though his spine. Also at the same time he heard someone outside his door. But as far as he was concerned he’d remember shutting the door and throwing his keycard on the tabletop. So it was rather alarming for him to see the door handle turn freely and his supposedly locked door swing open. Only then did it finally occur to him that his keycard had been in the reader slot all this time and the one on the table was Supergirl’s.

“David I have to tell you- Why is your card in th-” Alyssia stopped when she noticed the large booth and almost collapsed in fright when she realized that someone was hanging upside down from the ceiling.

“Who are you? What is that thing and where is my brother?” She cried aloud her distress must of alerted Paul in the hallway because he rushed in ready to defend her only to stop dead in his tracks.

“What are you and what the hell is that thing?” David demanded finally coming to his girlfriend’s aid. Once again taking step forward, but now in his attack stance.

David smiled and then it occurred to him that besides not seeing who he was they couldn’t see him smiling at them. Holding a hand out he stood upright and reached up and removed his mask the whole while still smiling at them. Part of him wondered what it looked like to them for him to be suspended upside down like he was. To say that they were stunned would be a understatement, but they eventually remembered that the could speak.

“OK David. Are you going to tell us how you’re able to do this? Or are you going to make us beg?” They both asked in near perfect unison. While their suggestion sounded appealing to him he decided against it. Instead David motioned for Paul to close the door and once he had he slowly started to explain what he had found. Even after this short of period he was finding the experience of hanging from the ceiling quite invigorating.

Kara Zor-El had been perched on the same rock outcropping for so long she was beginning to question if she’d be able to stand without her legs aching. The tears had finally stopped coming, but that wasn’t important because she didn’t feel the need to cry anymore. Before her transformation the concept that a good cry was therapeutic for the soul would’ve sounded very cliché. That changed after her own rite of passage into at least that aspect of womanhood. It had sometimes bothered her that woman were often referred to as the weaker sex, just because they were more inclined to cry then men were.

That thought brought back memories of how Kacy’s own father had gone out of his way to bully and sometimes coerce his only offspring to always be in control of his emotions and never show any sign of weakness. As Kacy she had tried desperately to do just that all in a futile effort to seek his stern and as it turned out his uncompromising approval. As she’d reflected on this, still sitting on the rock she finally came to the grim conclusion that Kacy was a mentally scared if not handicapped creature.

“Stupid Bastard!” She muttered angrily looking out onto the lagoon of the atoll, not realizing that she had said it aloud in the process.

“I hope that you don’t mean me, do you?” A serious but also humorous voice surprised her from behind. Startled, but not totally surprised about him finding her she didn’t bother to turn to look at him. Instead she continued to gaze out in to the lagoon.

“Kara?” Kal-El asked again. He took a step closer to her but stopped his advance when he saw her shoulders sag. “Are you ok?” His concern was fairly unmistakable to her, and another time she would’ve liked the attention.

She sighed wearily and stood up from her perch, absently noting that indeed her legs had become a little stiff, but not as bad as she’d expected. Looking at Kal-El she almost smiled at him because of the fretful look he was giving her, but decided not to let him off the hook for a little bit longer.

“Took you long enough to find me here, what were you doing? Maybe you’re trying to convince that lovely reporter interviewing you into becoming your publicist?” She meant that as a joke, but his fleetingly introspective expression alarmed her somewhat. “You didn’t?” She asked incredulously.

“Hey…Easy there!” Kal-El held up his hands to ward her off, she had actually come up rather close to him in the process, stopping mere inches from him to stare at his ‘S’ symbol on his chest. She didn’t want to look him in the eye, and like all men it took him a moment to figure out what really was bothering her. Which was surprising because she hadn’t consciously considered the prospect herself.

“Whoa…what are you talking…Kara your not jealous are you?” He asked intrigued by the possibility himself also. She looked at him intently and actually considered the possibility that she really was indeed jealous of how he had been interacting with that admittedly attractive reporter.

“Well?” Kal-El asked.

“Kal-El, I don’t know anymore… Everything is just happening so fast…I’m feeling so confused lately. I…” She was interrupted when he surprised her by taking her into his arms and kissing her deeply on the mouth. The part of her that was growing quieter with each passing hour tried to resist feebly but ultimately failed. Kara didn’t care she’d melted into his arms and began to kiss him back. She didn’t know how long they were like that and she didn’t care anymore. Reluctantly they broke their kiss but neither one of them made any attempt of moving out of each other’s arms.

“It still took you a long time to find me?’ She questioned teasingly. He smiled at her and looked around them. There probably wasn’t another soul for several hundred kilometers and he couldn’t recall how many atolls he had searched before finding her.

“It’s a big ocean you know there has to be over five thousand islands out there.” He answered derisively but his playful expression took the unintentional sting out of his words.

She partly pulled back from his embrace and smiled playfully back at him. “Actually its more like forty five thousand.” She corrected tartly. Before putting her head on his shoulder. She had always like geography while the precise count wasn’t really known her number was close enough.

“Touché…” Kal-El answered back playfully, he looked out at the inviting warm lagoon spread out before him and on an impulse asked her if she wanted to take a swim with him. At first she thought he was joking but after looking in to his eyes she knew that he was serious. Just as she about to say no she considered it more carefully. There was nobody around, the sun was warm on her shoulders and that water did look inviting. Not believing that she was doing it but she took him up on his suggestion.

Momentarily stunned by how Kara had so readily accepting his idea he was still gaping at her until she finally motioned for him to turn around. Not knowing what else to say he nodding dumbfounded, while he quickly turned around to give her some privacy before shaking his head to clear out the cobwebs so he’d could focus his own attention on first removing his red cape. After fumbling around for a bit he finally managed to remove it, taking the time to carefully fold it. He quickly found a dry place to put it somewhere that he’d remember where it was and he also remembered to secrete their room’s keycard into its folded material. While they both could probably go swimming dressed as they were he was thinking of something more appropriate for their surroundings. Kal-El didn’t waste anytime on concentrating on anything to complex he simply changed his costume into a dark blue jammer style swimsuit that hugged his form and reached down to his mid thigh. They were just was like the pair of swim trunks he’d worn when he was still on the swim team in high school. Deciding that he still was not finished with it yet, he added a swath of red color along his left leg and on the other side he on an impulse decided to add a stylized ‘S’ just for show.

“Well Kara I hope that you like-” He stopped mid sentence his mouth agape at the vision standing there before him and for the life of him he couldn’t remember what he was going to say. She didn’t know what had come over her while she was altered her costume into a very revealing string bikini, perhaps it had been an impulsive reaction to having been kissed or the voice inside her had finally given up. Regardless of why she did it she instantly was relieved that her companion was impressed.

“Do you like it?” Kara Zor-El asked demurely, she really didn’t need to ask such an obvious question. If anything the tent growing in his tight trunks was indication enough for her to know that he did, she noticed. In retrospect she too had decided to go with the same dark blue color scheme he had used. The string bikini she had formed from her mind covered the most revealing parts of her own genitalia, but this did mean that it wasn’t revealing enough. How it fit perfectly on her supple skin it almost appeared to him that it might as well have been painted on her.

“Wow! Kara… I …your bikini… Ah…swim suit really looks fantastic on you.” He stammered while scratching his head in utter amazement. Having finally remembered how to use his jaw and tongue once more. They didn’t need to say anything else to each other. Instead Kara just simply held out her hand and Kal-El took it and they both rushed into the warm inviting lagoon. Not thinking that they were behaving as if they were like any young couple. Who also happened to be on their first swim date.

Kara enjoyed the warm, but still soothing water over her exposed skin as she glided through it. It was play and they both reveled in the experience. Even before his transformation, Kal-El as Matt had been a very talented swimmer, and he liked to show off what he could do. If it wasn’t for the fact she had powers too she wouldn’t be able to keep up with him. But somehow he still managed to pull ahead of her, that was until he rather quite abruptly came to stop and then hurriedly motioned for her to catch up to him. It didn’t take her long before she caught up with him and found herself treading water like him near one of the corners of the crescent shaped lagoon.

“What’s up? Why’d you stop?” She queried her own interest now was starting to peak. Instead of answering her directly he motioned with his hand for her to look below them. Still interested in what was so engrossing to him, she decided to play along and peered down into the crystal clear water. Other then swimming in a public pool Kara Zor-El had never seen water so remarkably clear that she could see all the way to the bottom of the reef below. Considering that they were floating over the object it didn’t take brainiac to guess that it was what he was so interested in. If she hadn’t looked closer she might of missed it. But despite the amount of coral that was obscuring much of it surface and the angle of how it rested on the bottom of the reef it was now unmistakable.

“It’s a boat!” She exclaimed eagerly. Kal-El smiled at her, but shook his head negatively.

“Close, but it actually looks like a old freighter from the Pacific Campaign.” He corrected in his usual temperament that always meant that he knew what he was talking about. Of course she already knew that he was a World War Two history buff she also knew that it was better just to play along.

“Really? How do you know it comes from that particular war? This wreck could’ve from the first world war.” She countered. After all she too knew a lot about world history, and considering she or in reality Kacy was going to major in International Affairs in college someday should’ve been enough.

“Well… I think it came from the Pacific Campaign. Hey do you want to go below and check it out with me?” His slow comeback, could’ve meant that he actually remembered who he was talking to. His own area of expertise was more of the Math and Science variety. It wasn’t surprising to her thought considering that until his mother had changed her profession to become a obstetrician she and before that Matt’s parents were two of the best geneticists in the country.

“Nah… You go ahead I’ll wait up here and enjoy the view. Just don’t take very long.” Even before she finished the last sentence he’d had already taken a deep breath and dived beneath the surface. From above the wreck she watched as he waved up at her and disappeared into the once proud oceanic traveler.

She spent her time scanning the horizon, and with her superhuman vision she could see everything with perfect clarity. When they were designing one the many parameters of their new personas they had to be realistic was how far Superman and in her case Supergirl could actually see distant objects. Matt had pointed out that the visual horizon was actually a function of the height of a object and also of the viewer. As a compromise they had increased their possible visual acuity by several thousand folds. For instance a cargo vessel that had just entered her own visual horizon she could make out every detail of the vessel from the numerous rust trails down the length of its black hull to what looked like an exhausted ship’s cook flicking a cigarette over the side.

Still watching the vessel move further away she felt something brush against the bottom of her foot. Thinking it was Kal-El below her playing around with her, Kara Zor-El switched her gaze from the departing ship to the water below and froze in horror. All around her were literally hundreds of sharks that seemly had appeared out of nowhere. Other then seeing them in aquariums and television this was the first time she’d been this close to them. One thing that was quickly apparent to her was that the fear Kacy had about these creatures translated to her because she also had the same reaction towards them.

Like any person who’d grown up with cable television she’d had watched her share of the Discovery Channel’s Shark Week annual series. Based on the tail color and their rough location in the Pacific Ocean she could probably accurately guess that the majority of them were of the Oceanic whitetip variety. While smaller then the famed Great White this particular species was all to known as a aggressive, but slow-moving fish. Unfortunately it was notoriously known for the classic ‘feeding frenzies’ made fashionable by the popular media. Despite all this she couldn’t understand why they were interested in her. They were normally attracted to survivors of shipwrecks, because of their panic thrashing about, but in her case she was trying to remain calm and was only treading water to stay afloat. It seemed to her dismay that the numbers of sharks were increasing as was their interest in her. Kara was starting to grow increasing nervous and upset, it didn’t occur to her that they couldn’t possibly hurt her. The fear was hindering her ability to think clearly as well as acting in concert with her thoughts.

Fortunately for Kara she didn’t have to do anything. The surface of the water exploded in a froth of foam with Kal-El breaching it like missile. Rising his arms upright above him and with inhuman speed swung both arms downward to slap the surface. The resulting sonic pulse rippled through the water as if large explosion had occurred. Frightened, the horde of sharks quickly dispersed and disappeared from the immediate confines of the lagoon.

“Oh… Kal-El…Thank you!” She leaped into his arms of her would be rescuer with a start. Before he could say anything she covered his mouth with hers. This precise kiss was even more passionate then before and the dampness in between her legs she was feeling wasn’t from the water surrounding them.

“Kal-El lets go back to the beach.” She whispered suggestively into his ear, and if anything her new demeanor was an good indication of her intentions

“Are you sure?” He asked hesitantly, trying to cover his own excitement. If he had any doubt about her true intentions it quickly faded when she wordlessly began to seductively nibble his earlobe and stroke his growing manhood through his swimwear. Needing no further encouragement from her and since both of them were still entwined in each others arms. Kal-El effortlessly levitated out of the water and floated back towards the beach.

They didn’t need to say anything else to each other and besides as far as they were concerned words couldn’t express accurately how they were feeling at this moment. Kara and Kal-El briefly parted ways as he went to retrieve his cape and spread it flat on the surface as a makeshift blanket.

Waiting until he was finished and she was the focus of his attention once more. Kara couldn’t help smiling at him as she reached behind her one handed and deftly pulled the tie string loose and with a quick motion freed her breasts for him to gaze wantonly at. Clearly intrigued by the dream before him and not wanting to waste any further time he awkwardly removed his swimwear almost tripping himself in the process.

If it embarrassed him he didn’t let on now free of its restrictive confinement his large erect penis bobbed up and down like a dive board. Kara felt her checks growing warmer and if she was feeling aroused before she was incredibly horny now. Her pulse quickened and she felt her supple skin grow warmer then it was already. Wanting to entice him for just a little longer she made a show of grabbing the pull strings on either side of her thong between her finger tips. Then taking her time she ever so agonizingly slowing pulled them loose trying to tantalize him playfully. Kal-El was watching intently and started to stroke his penis, watching this she licked her lips hungrily. With a final tug on the strings her thong dropped freely away presenting her mons veneris in all of its glory to her soon to be lover.

“My God Kara your even more beautiful then I could’ve ever imagined.” He moaned in awe of the vision standing before him. As one they stepped closer to each other and hem made the first move reaching out with his hand he cupped one of her pert breasts and whilst massaging it he playfully flicked her nipple with his thumb until it became fully engorged with blood. She could the pressure growing quicker now. The trickle of vaginal secretions were quickly becoming a flood running down her leg. She moaned in excitement and tilted her head back in delight. See the effect his touch was having on her he expertly used the other hand to tease her sensitive folds below, whilst his lips began to gently trace her neck and shoulders.

Kara felt her knees give way, but Kal-El was there and supported her whilst he gently laid her down on the makeshift blanket he’d thoughtfully prepared. She parted her legs for him and hoped she didn’t have to wait too long. Knowing that she was ready he quickly positioned himself between her legs and gently leaned forward. Kara never thought she would be doing this in her life but she found herself taking hold of his hard member and helped guide it into her waiting vagina. He pushed slowly into her and she grimaced slightly due to some minor pinching the pain quickly faded as it had come on. He paused letting his love to give her time to prepare before he pushed deeper into her a breathy gasp broke free from her lips and if she’d thought that a simple vibrator could pleasure her she was sadly mistaken.

Once he sheathed his sword inside of her he slowly pulled it out and then thrust forward with his pelvic muscles again. Her eyes filled with pure ecstasy and Kara honestly didn’t know how long they were at it, but she found herself moaning with pleasure whilst her body quaked with pleasure from the repeated orgasms she was having. She arched her back and reveled in the high she was feeling.

“Oh… Kal-El…fuck me harder!” She moaned aloud. He grunted as he obliged her and increased his pace and wasn’t long before his efforts were rewarded with a even louder moan from her then before and her nails tried in vain to penetrate his invulnerable skin. Kara somehow found the strength to wrap her sweat covered legs around him and pulled him deeper into him. He paused long enough to stare into her eyes.

“Kara I love you.” He whispered truthfully, but he also know full well that she’d could hear him. Instead of saying anything she used her powers to flip both of them around. Until he was on bottom and she now straddled him between her legs. She controlled how far his still erect penis penetrated her and surprised herself how easily she could move her hips and feel the sensation increase when Kal-El grasped both of her breasts and started to massage them as if to encourage her even more then he already was doing. Her scent filled his nostrils and it smelled of fresh strawberries and his musky scent drove her wild with passion making her move her hips even faster. They both kept up with this pace until she felt him tense up and then without warning he exploded deep into her. The act of his own orgasm also caused her to climax and her body quaked from an orgasm far harder then ever before. He slumped back into the twisted makeshift blanket, Kara wasn’t even aware of him pulling his spent member out of her with a soft popping sound, she was still basking in her post orgasmic bliss. She collapsed next to him feeling fairly well spent by their combined efforts and she rolled over on to her side she wiggled her behind until she felt his slowly pulsing semi erect penis between her ass cheeks. As she drifted off into sweet blissful sleep she heard him whisper once again into her ear.

“Really do mean it Kara Zor-El I love you and want to be with you for the rest of my life.” But he was to late as she had already drifted off into sleep. Well I’ve never heard of the girl drifting off to sleep first, usually it was the guy that could stay awake, he mused to himself, before drifting off himself.

He smiled at the goddess laying peacefully beside him the scent of fresh strawberries filled the air around her and was like a intoxicating drug to him. A part of him wanted to wake her properly, but like all good things in life they both had other obligations. To start with they both needed to fly back to Las Vegas and retrieve their belonging, and if the seeds he’d planted before setting out to find her earlier, an new life as well.

With a trace of reluctance he stopped caressing her bare shoulder with his finger tips not before taking a opportunity to brush aside a lock of errant hair that had obscured her otherwise angelic features. All the while he couldn't stop thinking that she was every science fiction nerd's fantasy come true.

“Kara... rise n’ shine it’s time to get up?” He murmured rather tenderly into her ear brushing her cheekbone with his lips.

“Mmm… Wh… What?” She’d mumbled.

“Mmm.... Time to go. I want to stay here too but we need to collect our clothes and fly back before it starts getting too late.” He answered still feeling very content lying next to her and then purely on impulse he reached down and started to caress her thigh.

Collect our clothes? Kara repeated absently enjoying a rather curious thrill speeding through her spine before her brilliant blue eyes blinked hesitantly at first then widened with a muted panic. She hurriedly propped herself into a semi reclined position and only after remembering that she was still naked, awkwardly tried to cover her exposed breasts with her arm in a purely classical feminine gesture.

“Oh my God… we…didn't.... Oh... God... No!” She stammered. Her eyes darted first away from her companion’s perplexed expression to his naked chest then down past the waist before coming back full circle and their eyes locked together once more.

“Honey what’s wrong?” He asked dumbfounded he shifted his hand from her hip to her still bare shoulder. Kara instantly recoiled away from his touch and floated up and away from him.

“Kara… what the hell…?” He repeated now climbing to his own feet.

Ignoring his confusion Kara’s eyes now hurriedly sought out the scattered pieces of her costume trying her best to cover her bare breasts with one arm stretched across them she bent awkwardly downward and pulled a partially buried bikini thong free from the sand.

Still not really understanding why she was suddenly acting differently. Kal-El wisely guessed that for now she wanted to be alone, and with superhuman speed he quickly gathered up his things and flew further down the beach to give her some needed privacy.

Taking the time to shake free the granules of sand she’d spotted with her enhanced vision. It seemed almost like a lifetime ago, but why do I suddenly remember overhearing some of the girls in school gossiping about their experiences of having sand in a woman’s neither regions? Despite her supposed invulnerability she didn’t want to take any chances and to be honest she wasn’t interested in experiencing that particular detail of womanhood. Kara stopped once she was satisfied that the thong was sand free. Before nimbly slipping it back up her long shapely legs. Even just feeling the cool fabric caress her legs before sliding in place the snugness of the thong was both comforting and disturbingly felt right.

Why am I thinking or even having these strange feelings? Ever since I stepped out of that damn thing it sure feels that I’ve been fighting with myself. Throw in the fact that from almost the start of all this she had been in one way or another she had been fantasying about him almost two days prior, made her feel that she was indeed losing sense of her true identity and any trace of masculinity. Was it really just only a few hours earlier that I was already having difficulty remembering what I used to look like or that I was originally a guy? But now not even that thought compared to what had actually transpired between them it didn’t help matters that she fully knew that it hadn't been Kal-El who had initiated their heated lovemaking session. Even now it was extremely hard to not accept that steadily growing part of her now wanted to experience again and in spite of her earlier emotionally outburst now didn’t feel that ashamed or even the slightest hint disgust or revulsion. Just recalling how she’d felt when his strong hands were caressing her breasts or how a seemly simple act of his thumb rubbed against her erect nipple was enough to cause her knees to give in slightly and the return of a now new but still familiar feeling of wetness between her thighs actually caused her face to flush.

No I need to stop thinking about that!! I’ve got to get back to that booth and change myself back before-, she thought fearful that even just thinking about it any further was detrimental to own psyche. Instead Kara triggered a mental command that allowed her embarrassingly revealing bikini to revert back into her costume minus its familiar cape and the accompanying pair of boots. For a brief moment she was sorely tempted to fly home completed costume or not but she didn’t know how the booth would turn her back minus her other accessories so with reluctance she floated to location on the beach where they were before her swim in the lagoon. Not surprisingly he was already waiting for her.

“Kara.. I..?” He started when she stopped a few paces away from him. To stress the apparent shift in her frame of mind she still hadn’t said anything to him.

“Look just listen ok… if you’re not going to say anything, then let me explain please.” He waited patiently until Kara finally met his gaze and sighed reluctantly nodded her head for him to continue. “I have some things that I want to say and it might take some time for me to go through everything. It’s important that I be as truthful about my plans and my feelings for you now.” Kal-El said.

She sighed halfheartedly partly curious herself of what exactly he had to say and has also torn between already dreading and anticipating some of the things he was very likely to say regarding his feelings towards her.

“You must be out of your mind!” Paul Haywood snapped he finally had enough of listening to the kid’s nonsense.

“Now Paul what’s really the problem? Could it be that you’re too afraid to even give it a try?” David asked innocently, wrapping the booth’s display screen with his knuckle. But he didn’t even wait for a response he instead thought it was better to just switch tactics and just turned attention to his sister, and knew his needs would be better served by using his own sister as a diversion.

“Well then, I guess that counts him out so what about you Alyssia? This can be the one chance you can have the body that you’ve always wanted. No awkward consultations or painful recovery, just imagine your ideal body and then let the machine take care of everything.”

“Damn it David just stop whatever it is you’re planning and leave my girlfriend alone! There is nothing about her that I would ever want changed, you little bastard!“ Paul seethed.
* * *

“Your- serious aren’t you?” Kara asked carefully not fully trusting her emotions at the moment. She was still coming to terms that they had slept together, but even as that earlier carnal act was just fade into the back recess of her mind she’d also had pay attention to him describe in great detail how they could be real super heroes and other more personnel details concerning their future together and simply couldn’t take it anymore.

She’d tried her best to hold herself at bay against the seemly endless number of conflicting emotions that were now raging inside of her. A part of her was actually flattered by some of his spoken feelings for her and even felt a flutter of happiness more than once. However his deceitfulness with her in the past and never mind the simple fact that he had made a very typical male like assumption that he could make life-changing decisions without her input. It wasn’t until that moment it hadn’t occurred to her that she was starting to refer to men in such a general stereotypical manner and she hadn’t bothered counting herself amongst them.

Damn! I really need to change myself back, before it’s too late! If things keep diverting me I might not even want to change back.

“Kara your one of the few people who know understand how I feel about the whole DC Universe especially the Superman and Supergirl characters arcs?” He asked pointedly already aware that it was indeed a feeble excuse but he still wanted to keep his momentum going.

“Listen Matt…I don’t need to be reminded! Alright… I will be the first to admit that I actually enjoy the sheer thrill of flying, but regardless it doesn’t mean I want to become a real life super heroine permanently. -And that brings up another thing, you’ve neglected to tell me exactly how are you are supposedly going to explain the strange disappearance of rather awkward High School Senior Kacy Prescott to our friends and family and then explain how you managed to have acquired a girl friend with a ironically similar sounding name?”

“Well…” he coughed hesitantly. He’d never admit to her that up till just now he had still been trying to work that particular detail out, but-. “I thought- you know… we could use our shape shifting abilities to assume our own secret identities, you remember how in my case I’ve used it to turn back into my Matt persona?” He started weakly. It was hard for him to look her in the eyes, and it didn’t help that her blue hued eyes had started glowing almost blood red.

“Your secret identity is going to be your Matt persona! The please then tell me then what my supposed secret identity going to be? Has all this super hero nonsense finally gone straight to your head? Do I really need to remind you're not Superman he is still supposed to be a fictional character, and you’re MATT KIRKWOOD?” Tears she had until now been holding back like a failing dam finally started to pour down her cheeks.

Not accustomed to seeing her showing such raw emotion he took a step backward from her trying to think of something just too both rebuttal and comfort her at the same time, when a thought that had been hovering in the back if his mind for some time now crystallized into sudden clarity.

“Ah.. Kar- I understand that it has been hard on you but haven't you even thought of trying to using your morphing ability to turn back to your original body?” He reasoned not really knowing if this might set her off even more then she was right now. But thankfully it seemed his words had indeed achieved the desired effect as it had penetrated deep inside her and just as quickly deflated her anger. It just simply had never occurred to Kara to try using her ability to hopefully change her gender back.

“Alyssia--, please why in heaven are you even thinking about using that thing to change how you look?” Paul whispered as soon as he’d pulled her into the room’s bathroom. Unwittingly she’d just given her younger brother the support he needed and quite honestly her apparent betrayal unintentional or not still frustrated him.

“Paul- I-- w-wanted only to make a few changes to myself so I’d feel better about how I look. You know-” She cupped her bosom and continued. “I’m not stupid. I’ve known for awhile that you didn’t like how I’d got the twins upgraded or particular short sightedness on my part about why I went about it…I just want to make things right and…” Her emotions caught and she started sobbing softly.

Paul didn’t know what to say now he’d originally thought that she wanted to become some sort of superhero but he had to admit that she’d surprised him. Instead of trying to talk her out of whatever she was planning he nodded his head for her to continue.

“Th-There are just a few things that I would like improved about myself and whatever that thing is could make it so I never would need to go under another surgeon’s knife. “ She paused. “All I want to do is make you happy and that is why I want you to program in my features, just like how David described it.”

“Are you really sure about this, I… love you… just the way you are.” Paul asked, never in his life would he consider that he would be saying such a thing. But when he considered what had happened in the last few hours. Then something occurred to him that deep down he knew that he should have realized earlier. David never did anything for anyone else unless he could take advantage of. In particular while they were in the bathroom, her brother was alone with the booth.

“When I get my hands on that little conniving Son-of-a-bitch I’m going to-! “ He fumed; his eyes darted to her perplexed face and opened the bathroom door.

“It’s no use I’ve tried and I just can’t.” She cried in frustration while her body returned to its normal state. “Well… normal in as far as Supergirl goes.” She mumbled to herself. In truth his idea had been a good suggestion and at the time she’d wondered why she hadn’t thought of it before. Kal-El had flown to the other side of the isle after telling her to take as much time as she needed.

When she'd first started to experiment she thought she was on to something, when her breasts prompted by her mental image, deflated like a pair of water balloons to almost nothing. But as hard as she tried the smallish breasts could never go past looking like a prepubescent girls chest would. That wasn't the only set back and more alarming to her, she simply couldn't remember how she’d looked before stepping inside the booth. It just fel odd even trying picturing herself as a male and that bothered her. The best she could accomplish was to turn her angelic face into a tomboyish one and despite her best efforts and after a very unladylike investigation underneath her skirt, nothing that really mattered had really ever changed.

Not knowing what else she could do or try she screamed in frustration and her vision clouded as she looked for some release. After-wards she simply stared in awe at the growing pool of water that was still filling the hole she’d made in a sudden fit of frustration. The rock outcropping she had just been sitting on earlier had been easily ripped out of the ground and then subsequently tossed out into the center of the lagoon. A subdued but also an understanding voice came from behind as well as a gentle hand on her shoulder.

“Well that's it then…look lets head back now, and we'll get the booth so you can change back.” He spoke gently to her. If he had learned anything lately it was that he shouldn’t try to arguing with her.

Kara felt like crying, but knowing that it would only delay the inevitable. Instead she simply nodded in agreement and together they both floated upward into the air and angled their trajectory eastward.

“Sir…. Why are you bothering with looking at that surveillance image of them together on the beach?”

The details of the satellite photos were incredible and privately she toyed with the thought that it would most likely scare the civilian populace about the level American Intelligence gathering capability.

“Oh? Just call it professional curiosity. The blank stare she returned, actually made him smile inwardly. “You see I’m just curious if they used the booth to either switched their respective genders or if only Supergirl had.” After I’m gone, you’ll quickly discover that a abnormally large percentage of the cases you’ll probably end up investigating after I retire will often have subjects that have selected a different gender.

His fellow agent partner was scrutinizing the computer screen image of the two lovers enfolded in each other’s arms. “So you telling me that she could’ve been a he…. but that’s so perverted!”

Shaking his head sadly he called up a web browser and located a news feed from one of the cable networks. Not surprisingly the major news story was about the event they were here to investigate and not having better to they continued to loop the video played earlier. “You might think so, but there are perfectly normal people out there in this world that sometimes wonder what it would be like if they had been born into a different sex. So try not to judge….” He stopped abruptly watching the banner bar update and quickly jabbed his finger onto the laptop’s LCD display.

“They’ve come back! OK now remember what we discussed no further talking and let’s find that damn thing. Before this whole thing gets any further out of hand.”

Together they hovered silently in black darkness as they surveyed the ground before them. Kal-El and Kara on their journey back had incidentally found a electronic billboard on the outskirts of Las Vegas that just happened to be displaying the local time and together they learned, it was two a clock in the morning. In eerie-shared silence they studied the White Castle Convention area. The area too Kara’s dismay was now crawling with news media vans which also included their camera crews and the various television personalities. Just taking into account the staggering number of antenna booms sticking high in to the air made it appear as if a metallic forest had improbably sprung up from the asphalt pavement.

“Kara please, don’t look so worried we’ll just fly directly to our room’s window and-” Kal-El had started but only stopped a mere heart beat later. The sky around them was suddenly flooded with first one then literally dozens of beams of piercing white light from searchlights below them. Then just as quickly, the sporadic but growing number of flashes from cameras coming from the growing crowd below was intense, Kara thought dismally. Hopefully none of them were lucky enough to catch a shot under my skirt, she prayed weakly.

“Well so much for trying to sneaking back in.” He muttered sarcastically, before considering that he’d better try keeping a positive outlook on things for her sake. There was really no way of knowing how she’d react. They both had to do it together he understood the moment he met her gaze. She had unwisely left him alone before and she had to contend with the fact that majority of the people arrayed below more than likely believed that she and Kal-El were aliens from a dead world. Sensing her discomfort he held out his hand and to his pleasant surprise she accepted. Wordlessly they descended together into the media frenzy below them.

“I knew it!” Paul thundered as he stormed back into the room. David had taken the opportunity while they were in the bathroom arguing. On the booths display console a new a very familiar figure was being constructed.

Paul studied the figure and observed would have been almost an exact copy of the actual Superman if David hadn’t gone so overboard with the size of image’s muscles.

While Paul and his sister attention was focused on the display David had backed to the side of the booth and watched them both intently.

“David how about you tell us? Now exactly where did you supposedly find that thing?” Paul demanded.

“I thought that is should be pretty obvious for you now, please don’t tell me that my sister is in love with a brainless jock.” David answered rather smugly.

“Whatever that thing is it doesn’t belong to you. Don’t you think that at some point they might notice that it’s missing? I can’t really speak for them but that device is like a misplaced toothbrush, no David I can guess they are going to come looking for it.’ Paul tried first reasoning with him, but the stupid sneer on David’s smug expression meant otherwise. So he tried a different approach all the while they slowly circled each other. As they did so he noted that Alyssia had backed herself next to the television set. Throughout this neither one of them had even bothered turning the television off, neither he nor David was paying it any attention to the accustomed screen flicker and coming from it. As far as they knew it was still replaying the same video clips of the rescue as before but its volume was also muted. Neither one of them had noticed that a video shot was focused on two caped figures still floating in the dark morning sky of Las Vegas.

“How stupid can you be? Yeah I’ll give you that now you’re able to climb walls like Spiderman can but how can you be so sure that this alien technology is going to go afar as change you into whatever your heart’s desire?” Paul asked rather sarcastically.

The years of pent up irritation with his girlfriend’s younger sibling had finally been freed, and unlike the other times he wasn’t even going to let his girlfriend intervene on her brother's behalf. Despite David’s bravado, Paul was betting that against his opponent’s fragile self esteem and all he needed to do was to keep him off balance long enough , before his opponent remembered what sort of physical advantage he now had over him.

“What is it then… Do you think that by changing yourself into a duplicate Superman and thus gaining powers beyond our understanding? Entitles your to some sort of respect and whatever you’d think your entitled to?” Paul paused to let it sink in and continued. “All you are is just another spoiled rich brat. Do you think that the world is going accept you over those two?” He absently indicated the image of Superman and Supergirl on television screen, himself still unaware that its was not a replay from earlier.

“That’s not...!” David grated through his teeth. He never liked how Alyssia’s jock of a boyfriend always seemed to know how to get the better of him.

Alyssia who had been watching her brother and boyfriend, caught a flash of both blue and red on the television screen out of the corner of her eye. At first thinking like both David and Paul that was just the news network replaying the same stuff as before, but looking closer this time it looked different enough that it could only mean one thing.

“Paul!! David!! They’re back… this footage is live!” She whispered in a rushed manner. In trying to get both of their attention she grabbed Paul by his hand and pointed at the screen. It still took a moment for both Paul and David to come to their senses. It was true the footage was a bit shaky, but the two familiar figures by were easily recognizable. Not that seeing two people hovering in the air would be considered a common occurrence.

After a while Paul looked at crestfallen David and smiled. “Looks like you’re going to have to give it back. Face it David with those two aliens around, all you are just a spoiled rich little brat.” He paused to let his words sink in before starting up again. “In fact I’m going out there now to tell them that you have their… whatever they call it.”

“NO!!!”

Paul wasn’t sure if the plea had come from either David or Alyssia, but before he could react. Paul Haywood felt himself being lifted into the air and the just as abruptly he was flying through the air. His flight was cut short however when his body slammed into the far wall behind him. Normally he was accustomed to being thrown in the air due to own his experience with martial arts, but in this case it just didn’t matter. Barely conscious the last thing he'd recall later seeing was David purposely walked towards him and without any hesitation viciously kicking him in his side then a sudden sharp stabbing pain when David punch him on the side of his head which finally caused him to thankfully black out.

David toyed with the idea of kicking the crumpled form once more, but decided against it. He might of hated his sister’s boyfriend it didn’t mean he wanted to kill him.
Instead his enhanced senses detected movement behind him and he quickly spun around on his heels and caught Alyssia’s raised fist..

“David! You…you’ve killed him!” She was crying now, her checks streaked with tears and thick rivulets of mascara. In the rare moment of compassion for is own sister and not having any desire causing any harm to her, David carefully webbed his sister’s wrists and then her ankles together tightly before moving her on to the bed.

“DAVID!” She sobbed while struggling in vain to break the bonds. “My God what have you done?”

David looked pitifully at his sister and disappeared into the bathroom before returning again in the bathroom doorway. With a practices motion he quicly gagging her with a washrag, once he was satisfied that she wouldn’t be nuisance he spoke gently, but with his ever present air of superiority that hung about him.

“Just relax Sis… he’s still breathing. So can you do me a favor sit still for awhile and let me think?” He said firmly, before returning his attention once again towards the booth. He studied the image of his Idol on the screen and though he hated to admit it. Paul had been right in one aspect. Glancing at the television it didn’t take a genius to guess that the two aliens were not simply going to let him keep the booth and considering the plans he had with his new toy meant that he couldn’t have them getting in the way. Then almost out of the blue, a possible solution presented itself to him.

Acting quickly he erased the image on the screen and through the booth’s interface began designing a new body that he thought should take care of his immediate problem. He worked quickly both out for concern that his theft of the booth would be discovered soon, and for his desire to put his brilliant idea into action. Only after he was satisfied with his latest creation, and he couldn't think of any detail he may have overlooked he opened the booth and stepped inside.

The door promptly reopened and as if newborn he hesitantly stepped back out in to the hotel room. His first observation was that his perspective and since of balance was way off then the last time, but unlike before he was better prepared for the changes.

He had made his new height of his temporary body exactly eight feet tall and if he needed just one word to describe how he was feeling it would’ve been raw power. The muffled scream of his sister, strangely made him feel good. For the time being David Vandenhoff was gone, in his place was the means of getting what he was entitled to, as well as the end of Superman. With a cruel smile he looked down at his terrified sister. To him she looked so small and pathetically weak to him now.

“Now be a good little sister and wait here, till I get back. Say Sis since you’re not going anywhere do me a favor and keep a eye on the booth for me.” His new voice rumbled, the look of fear in her eyes was rather satisfying to him. If he had this effect on his own sister, he could only guess what he appearance might have on a total stranger. He paused just long enough to look himself over in the mirror. He had to admit that in his current form he was rather hideous, but he also didn’t plan to be in this body for very long. It was just a means to achieving one of his many goals.

Despite his greatness he stood before the closed door trying to figure out how he was going to get through the doorway; his massive form was simply too large to pass through the doorway. It reminded him of a story he’d heard once about how some boat enthusiast had foolishly constructed a sailing boat in his backyard but needed to level building to get access to the street. Reflecting on the story for a bit he realized that he simply had no other choice.

Using his massive fist he reduced the solid wood door into what could now only be best described as a pile of firewood. David however still needing to get through the doorway he effortlessly pushed his way through the tight opening. As he did so in the process broke the door frame and the surrounding structure in several places. Now free he made his way down the hotel’s hallway towards the stairs. Not even caring about the amount of damage he was causing to the hallway just by walking he absently thought it was a shame that no one was around to see him. So instead he allowed evil looking smile to curl his lips over his teeth as he thought about that particular deficiency was going to change.

The roar of the crowd, it seemed that each individual present was trying their best to attract their attention by shouting their names were still very intimidating to her. But unlike the previous encounter with a similar crowd, Kara knew and hoped that this time Kal-El would be more cognizant of how she felt, on cue he reacted by gently pulled her protectively close to him. The act was unusual in itself, she knew considering that no one in the crowd could possibly harm either one of them. But his simple gesture had a strange calming effect on her unease; she however still hadn’t forgotten that if it weren’t for his ludicrous plan. She wouldn’t be in this situation, in the first place.

“Kara… if you feel that … I mean if you can’t deal with this anymore, just let me know-“Kal-El whispered into her ear, still holding her close beside him.

“I'll be fine, but thanks for thinking about me.” Kara replied. Despite the fact that she was still upset with his deception, she knew that he did care for her. Being honest with herself, it had caught her off guard when he came out and said that he loved her.

Out of the overlapping voices calling either Superman or Supergirl name. She didn’t know if it was only pure chance or if it was intentional. So help her Kara had almost immediately recognized an all too familiar voice and though she didn’t want to she sought out the person. Melissa Duran as well as her camera man pushed their way through the crowd and now stood opposite of the spot where Kara and Kal-El had landed.

“S..Supergirl could you perhaps tell us where or what you and Superman, have been up too?” Melissa started the same instant both women had made eye contact. Despite the current state of her confused jumble of emotions right now Kara actually felt herself bristle as if she was facing someone who was challenging her.

“Miss Duran, I really just needed to get away from all of this and it even took Kal some time to find me. Your world is a wondrous place..” Kara said sweetly smiling at the reporter. To her surprise she could actually smell the other woman’s pheromones and could tell that Miss Duran was attracted to her partner and that in itself triggered another feeling that her subconscious mind marked her as competition in regards to Kal-El.

Would you mind if you could tell us, where he eventually found you.!” The reporter continued. She'd had interviewed various celebrities throughout her career and for whatever reason some of them did not appreciate the attention. She wasn’t too concerned about it though because she’d also acquired the hard won skills and charm in dealing with such personalities.

“I'm not sure some island I found by accident while I was flying out over a vast ocean past your nations coastline.” Kara only sighed apologetically.

“You don't mean the Pacific Ocean?!” Melissa pressed.

“Pacific Ocean? Ah..Yes, I believe that’s what some of your transmissions we monitored identified it as.” Inwardly Kara felt that she deserved at least a Emmy Nomination for pretending to be an alien from another world.

“Sir, I've just been wondering what you'd thought about my report?” She asked hesitantly obviously trying not to let her own curiosity to be to apparent with her senior partner. Wordlessly the two agents were slowly making their way through the White Castle Convention Center parking garage to access main lobby.

“What.. Oh... Well everything looked alright to me.” He said absently before realizing that his younger partner was just looking for some validation. Glancing back at his partner he couldn't help thinking about the early days for him when he was just starting his career, and memories it brought back actually caused him to smile.

“I mean that it was very good” He paused “Say I really need to ask you this, but how did it even occur to you to look for them there? I mean of all the places in the world they could or may have turned up. How in the hell did you think of looking for them in the Marshall Islands?”

“Well, Sir it occurred to me after making our travel arrangements that Supergirl or whoever she is might have flown a relatively constant bearing. With that assumption I simply hacked together a search algorithm and had it dumped into a file listing any sort of anomalies that had taken place in the Pacific Basin in the last six hours.” She explained feeling rather proud of herself.

“That was a pretty gutsy of you, but it seems to have worked for us.” Agent K stated amiably. By reading deeper into the more detailed parts of the report he'd found that. The US Navy’s acoustic network called SOSUS had first detected an acoustical anomaly and given enough time could be triangulated to the Bakok Atoll. Normally the SOSUS network was used to detect and identify submarines by their acoustical signature, but in light of post 9/11 era it was apparently being used for other purposes as well. Even with his years in the intelligence services he did know that this so called anomaly had the sound characteristics of either an underwater seismic event or that of a submerged nuclear detonation. It wasn’t too hard of a guess for him or his young partner to know that it wasn’t the former but the later that had caused the immediate order for an Intel satellite to change its orbit. That order had probably come from someone whose pay-grade was way much higher than his own, he recalled remembering his own experiences with trying to change the orbit a Key-Hole Imagery Satellite by way of the National Reconnaissance Office was itself not a simple task.

There were simply a limited number of such assets and changing the normal tasking of such a vital Intel gathering resource was only when necessary. So it wasn’t surprising he'd noted that just as it was entering the extreme limit of its collection range it was judged apparently by the signature hadn’t fully matched a typical fingerprint of a nuke so the satellite was hastily reassigned. But lucky for them the satellite had collected enough imagery for their own needs.

Agent K stopped a short distance away from the access tunnel he turned to say something else to her when he noticed that a faint pulse like vibration that was coming from the concrete floor and it seemed to be growing closer.

“Sir, what is that-” His partner started but stopped when the strange sound stopped as well. If she didn't know any better she could have sworn that it almost sounded like footsteps and if that was the case. Then whoever they belonged to that person was now standing on the other side of the door. Simultaneously her partner had come to the same conclusion but he was quicker then she was despite his age. He quickly took hold of her by the shoulder and pulled them both away from the door. By instinct he protectively pushes her to the floor. Just as they cleared the immediate area before the doors exploded outward. The doors having been ripped from their hinges revealed a giant hulking dark skinned figure now pushing its massive armored bulk through its opening. With a final push the creature broke free and stood fully erect and surveyed its surroundings.

Agent K felt the creature's horrible red eyes boring straight inside of him and the fear it located within, somehow seemed to amuse the creature. Then as quickly as it had begun it ended when the hulking giant turned away from them and once again started a path of destruction trailed behind it before it rounded a corner on its way towards the garage exit.

“Is that thing what I think it was?” His shaken partner asked after even the sound of the creature's heavy footsteps faded from earshot.

“How should I know I never was into this sort of thing?” Agent K sighed.

“I'm really getting too old for this.” He said wearily after helping her to stand up. His trained eye surveyed the scene and noted the extensive amount of damage not only to the doors and their frames but even the very flooring where the massive creature had once stood.

“What are we going to do now?”

“Our overall mission still hasn't changed, but I would say that it’s just gotten a little more complicated. The first thing I think we should focus on is finding that damn MAU.” He answered. His partner paused surveying the scene for herself before smiling back at him.

“If that creature was created by using the MAU then perhaps we should be able to back trace its path of destruction to where it originated. “ Agent L reasoned

“Well what are you waiting for then let’s try and find it so we can get out of here!” In truth it wasn't difficult to retrace the path of damage up the hotel's stairwell and which floor the creature had originated from. Finding a shattered doorway of a hotel suite both agents took covering positions before moving carefully inside.

In most cases related to the MAU device, agents never needed to draw their weapons, but they were armed for occasions where the use of lethal force maybe necessary. Both agents quickly swept through the corners of the room and come up the booth and two hotel guests inside, by all appearances one male the other female. Both Agent K and L observed that the male was unconscious on the floor and the female was conscious, but appeared restrained on bedding sobbing uncontrollably.

“You don't think that they used the booth as well?” Agent L asked incredulously. Her partner only nodded his head agreeing with her. His cursory examination of the occupants had concluded that despite the superb quality and attention to detail of their costumes were just as they appeared to be. Carefully she removed the gag from the frightened young woman's mouth.

“Please tell me that my boyfriend is going to be alright?” Alyssia pleaded.

Agent L smiled at her and her partner carefully examined the still unconscious boy and after reassuring her that other than a rather nasty looking bump on his head everything was going to be alright.

“Miss — could you please tell me your name as well as your boyfriend's.” Agent K asked gently helping the girl into upright position on the bed.

“My..My name is Alyssia and my boyfriend's name is Paul. Please help us! I need to find my brother and stop him, before he hurts anyone else.” She pleaded holding out her bound wrists to them. Agent K didn't move to unite her he only nodded his head towards the alien booth.

“In just a moment Miss Vandenhoff I still have a few more questions for you.” He paused. “So it reasonable to assume that you do know who used the booth to change in to the creature that did all this damage to this room?” The surprised look the girl had told him that she wanted to know how he and his partner already had knowledge of what the MAU could do.

“Both my partner and I already know what these thing can do to someone, but what I want to know if you have any knowledge of who else may have used this machine.” He confirmed for her his voice and demeanor changing to someone in authority.

“I wanted to use it, but my boyfriend stopped me and besides it belongs to like you know... Super- I mean the aliens!” Alyssia broke down her eyes now starting to tear up again. Agent K looked wordlessly at his partner.

“By any chance do you know what the two 'aliens' name are?” Agent L asked gently.

“They told us that their names were Matt something and Katie or maybe Kacy — I'm sorry but I really don't remember what her name is, but why this is so important! They're aliens aren't they?” Alyssia paused and then held up her wrists again.

“Just one more question before we untie you. Do you by any chance know which hotel room they were in?” Agent L asked pleasantly. Her partner was for some reason studying the booth intently. Alyssia responded that they were located across the hall from her room and she without thinking gave them her room's number. She was about free the young woman when her partner quickly turned to face her and motioned for her to stop.

“Stop we don’t have time for that now!! We have a Priority Alpha One situation! We have to move now while we still have time!” He ordered her. She nodded in acknowledgment to her partner, finding a still active MAU was one of the first directives their agency has for its field agents. All other details are now secondary since they needed to get it to one of their classified locations for further study, hopefully before it ceased functioning.

Agent L had reviewed enough case files to understand how to turn the booth back into its briefcase state. Picking up the case she looked at Alyssia then at her boyfriend. The questioning look she gave him was quite obvious to him. He shook his head.

“They'll only slow us down and besides I need you to access the hotels' guest registry and find out anything concerning our persons of interest” He stated firmly before taking the MAU from his fellow agent and not saying anything further carefully navigated around the shattered door then out into the hallway. She knew that he was right but still feeling some pity towards the still bound young woman. The Agent paused just long enough to offer reassurance that her boyfriend was already showing signs that he was coming around, before hurrying up to catch up to her partner.

The creature was starting to grow annoyed that its progress was slowed by the growing crowd in front of its path. David had lost track of how many convention attendees he had caught sight of that were costumed as Superman or Supergirl, but that wasn’t really a problem for him. Considering that one of the enhancements David had given his new body was the innate ability of both identifying as well as tracking beings that had Kryptonian DNA.

Right now there was just a overwhelming compulsion that was urging him forward. But the crowd ahead of him was impeding his advance and that only seemed to amplify his need.. He paused collecting his thoughts hoping to find an easier means of reaching his prey through the mass of humanity.

Well… I guess that I just need to accept that he can’t help himself. Kal-El had wordlessly taken the lead and started fielding most of the questions bombarding them from literally every direction. She did have to admit that so far he was doing his best to keep most of his responses from going overboard and Kara had even noticed that he was actually trying his best to shield her from the more personnel questions. So for the immediate future Kara was alone with her own thoughts.
Not that she wanted to think about the events or the sordid details in the last forty eight hours It was becoming harder to sense where the once vocal masculine voice had retreated further inside her psyche and but for not a very rare murmur of resistance Kara would’ve believed that it was truly gone. It didn’t help that for most of their flight back together she had found herself stealing some quick glances at her companion and actually admiring his well muscled physique and blissfully recalling how it felt enfolded her in among them. Damn it got to get a hold of yourself Girl!! It wasn't the last time she fervently wished that she'd never stepped inside that booth
She couldn't quite put a finger on the strange feeling she'd been having ever since they had returned to Las Vegas. Whatever it was she couldn't honestly think that it meant anything good it didn't help that she had even started experiencing a deep pounding in her chest.

What the…. Hell that can't be my heart. Well whatever it is it feels like it coming from somewhere in the crowd. Then there was what could only be described as primal instinct Kara was beginning to come to the realization that there was danger nearby. Fearful but still none the less curious Kara triggered her x-ray vision and crowd in her line of sight started peeling away. Just like the multitude of layers of a onion one layer at a time until it revealed a massive horrific looking creature standing on the outer fringes of the crowd. Even though she had better than a simple passing familiarity of DC Universe it still took her a brief moment to identify the being with its trademark pupilless red eyes

That can’t …Impossible!? Damn it…. Think your currently a woman wearing a red cape who can also fly…so there is only one possible explanation and it meant that.

Now in spite of a growing fear regarding the status of their secret supposedly safely hidden away in their room and the driving wish to get as far away from this place as soon as possible. Even blinking her eyes in vain hope of trying to clear her meta powered vision Kara knew that she needed to see whoever or whatever that thing was and with her own eyes. Not supplying any sort of forewarning to either Kal or any of the people around them, she used her powers to levitate herself skyward.

“Supergirl!!” A chorus of voices suddenly cried called out.

“Kara…?! What-“ he asked as levitated upward till he was eye level with her.

“Quiet... Kal for once, just listen to me!” Kara hissed back her voice tinged with worry before allowing gravity to pull her earthward once more. “I'm not positive, but I honestly think that someone found our little secret and figured out how to use it on themselves an...” Kara trailed off as he cut her off.

“Oh... Shit! How did they...?Who...Where...?”

“That doesn't matter right now!“ She snapped. “We really need get all these people away from here and we had better do it soon, before someone gets hurt!”

“Hurt!? But-” Kal-El was cut short when his enhanced hearing locked on a distinct sharp pop which was quickly accompanied by a blood curdling wail of intense pain.

The creature growled in frustration as he vainly tried pushing forward, his towering stature had indeed made it a rather trivial task to locate where his prey actually was, he had even caught a glimpse of the female alien floating partially above the crowd.

“Hey jack-ass do all of us a favor and stop trying to push-- Shit man now that is a totally bad ass costume! So just how did you manage to put this together it looks almost life like.” At first rather annoyed then curious individual dressed as Thor cried out using his hammer to prod David/Creature in his gut. David glanced dispassionately down at the Nordic based character before returning his attention back to where he had caught sight of female Kryptonian, but she obviously wasn't visible any longer.

“Come on man you've got to tell me where you got that outfit from?”

Still annoyed that he had just lost sight because this person was distracting him David decided to have some fun with him, realizing at the same time that this was as good as any other opportunity to establish his background and he used what he remembered from the alien's own origin story.

“If you must know human I was modified into my current form on my homeworld and now having tracked this two renegade children to your miserable planet... I must fulfill my purpose and destroy them now!” David voice rumbled before his massive maw of a hand crushed inward around the poor man's hand. That was until, practically every bone in Thor's hand shattered.

To his own amazement the man had yet to under a single sound, but that finally changed when David gleefully wrenched the now trembling man's arm upward and was promptly rewarded with a audible pop as he fully dislocated the man's shoulder. Dangling the sobbing individual before him. He absently observed how pathetically weak the annoying thing had been. As if he was a rag doll David carelessly tossed him aside like a broken toy and started to force his way through the shocked bystanders. Thankfully many of them actually now started to shrink away from his path..

This is more like it! David thought happily.

END of Part IV.
I would like to apologize to all of my readers for my tardiness in the forth installment of my story. Several things have happened that I feel that I should share with all of you. After two years of trying to start a family my wife and I were blessed with a little boy. But I guess with every good thing in life there must be some bad to balance out the universe. Shortly afterwords my father was diagnosed with Stage IV Bladder Cancer after a year long struggle he finally succumbed to this horrific disease. For a time it quite literally took the wind from my sail. I have the inevitable confrontation between David and our two young superheroes, story-boarded out and felt that it should be in released in its entirety and not broken up. Please tell me what you think of how the story is progressing so far and your thoughts about development and actions of the characters.
