'Bust'
'Not again Sam'
'You're not too good at this are you boyo'
'I'll say he's not, that's three out of the last four hands.'
It wasn't Sam's day. Here he was with three good looking girls playing strip pontoon, it wasn't a difficult game and he stood a realistic chance of bedding one of them, but only if he won. And so far he had mucked his chances up big style, they had all started with an equal number of garments, that is ten items and he was down to four already. By comparison Emma was still fully dressed, Julie had lost three and 'Manda was down to six.
How they came to be playing in Julie's parents country cottage still surprised Sam, the invite came out of the blue although he often hung out with the girls and they seemed to enjoy his company. With the invite it was obvious that they had further designs on his body and it wasn't all platonic!
The next couple of hands went a bit better, Emma lost a shoe and 'Manda had her cardigan on the pile of discarded clothing. However it wasn't long before Sam's clothing was down to his underpants. A streak of luck on his part actually had the girls nearly as naked as him, Emma was still winning with four garments, 'Manda had pants and bra and Julie was in body, one stocking and suspender belt.
'Twist' twelve
'Twist' a two, one card left should he go for it erm...
'Twist', bugger, an eight
'Bust'
'Come on big boy, get them keks off'
'In your own time Sam'
Ah well, in for a penny, Sam stood up and eased his pants off, true to form the girls heckled and verbally abused his manhood until he stood stark naked in front of them.
'Lets get the game finished and we can have some fun'
'Can I at least sit down Emma?'
'Ok but remember, winner takes all!'
This caused some hilarity
'You can deal Sam'
'Ok'
Julie was next to join the naked ranks and soon after a pant wearing Emma was declared the winner. This was cause for celebration and rather than an orgy it turned into a naked and drunken cushion fight. Eventually they all collapsed into a mass of naked flesh and one by one dropped into a state of slumber.
Frantic shaking from Manda broke Sam's slumber.
'Quick, there's a fire'
'Grab the clothes'
'Julie, come on
They stumbled to a halt at the end of the garden and turned to survey the cottage that by now was pretty much all in flames.
'Shit, the car'
Their transport was still by the back door and in imminent danger from the flames.
'Where are the keys?'
'I left them in last night'
'Right'
Sam ran round the cottage just in time to be caught in a blast from the kitchen. Seeing him go down Emma and Julie ran to Sam while Manda went to rescue the car.
'He's coming round'
'Thank heaven'
Sam opened his eyes to find the girls looking down at him, now at least partially dressed.
'You had us worried there'
'What happened?
'The propane heater blew up and you were caught in the blast'
'The car?'
'Manda managed to move it, it got a bit scorched but at least we can get back to civilisation now your awake'
He sat up and to his embarrassment found he was still naked.
'I'll get dressed and we can go.'
'Erm we have a problem there Sam. I grabbed the pile of clothes but I lost some on the way out and it was nearly all yours'
'Shit'
Julie presented him with what was left, one sock, one shoe and his wallet
'Your wallet must have dropped out of your pocket when you took your trousers off, it was in my shoe'
'I can't go into town naked!'
'I've got a bit of stuff in the car boot, just for emergencies like. Might not be your style but till we get home it will have to do.'
'I guess beggars can't be choosy, cheers Manda'
Well Manda hadn't been kidding. The emergency kit comprised a Lycra tube dress, pants and a pair of trainers.
'You better have my sweater too' Julie offered
Sam wanted to list all the reasons he couldn't wear the dress, but in the circumstances what choice had he.
'Ok then, but no wise cracks'
Julie fetched her sweater; the chunky pink one with a satin heart embroidered on the back. Sam winced. At least the pants were like a pair of white Speedo's even if he was unused to the body-hugging feel of the black dress. The dress reached to just above the knee but even so Sam was still shivering despite the furry jumper.
'His legs are blue'
'There's some hold-ups in the glove compartment'
'I'll get them'
Emma returned brandishing the hose and despite his protestations, insisted on putting the black nylons on him, before putting the trainers on.
'Whoops, I forgot those trainers were so girlie'
Sam looked at his feet and winced at the bright pink footwear.
'Ah well, lets get organised and off home, I need to get out of this clobber.'
'Ah don't be bashful, you look sweet'
First job was to call the fire brigade, everyone's mobiles had gone up in the flames and the nearest phone was a couple of miles away. They left the still smouldering cottage and headed towards the phone box. Manda phoned the fire service first then Julie rang to break the news to her parents, who whilst upset at the loss were at least on the face of it, more concerned that they were all ok.
Sam was anxious to get back to his flat and clothes but at best it was a four-hour drive back across middle England. The conversation was to say the least a little muted, Sam sat in one corner huddled in Julie's sweater, Julie herself asleep on the other side, while Emma and Manda, the conversation confined to directions.
'There's a chuf in about a mile, lets stop and get some breakfast' Emma checked the back seat passengers who were now both well asleep. 'We'll wake those two when we get there'
'Come on guys, wakey wakey, time for brekky'
'Uh. Oh sure'
'Sam?'
'Oh er yeah'
'We must look a right mess, first stop the lav's'
None of the girls even gave Sam more than a glance, and he himself was oblivious to his state of dress. There were a couple of other cars in the car park but it was still pretty early and everyone had that bleary look in their eyes. The three girls dived straight into the ladies; Sam sought the gents,
'Sorry miss, you want next door'
Sam still half-asleep obediently turned and went through the adjoining door into the ladies. Funny, it's all closets; he shrugged his shoulders and headed for a stall. He must have dozed for a minute, long enough at least that the girls were waiting outside when he emerged.
'Sam, you look a sight, here let me'
The still dazed Sam stood obediently while Emma brushed his hair, fussed with his clothes a bit and did something round his eyes, felt like cleaning them. Somehow it hadn't clicked with Sam what he was wearing; the others by now were thinking mischief. The clean up from Emma was in fact a bit of eyeliner and some diamante hairgrips.
'Better?'
'Sure, I need coffee'
'Hi girls, what'll it be?
'Four breakfasts, one veggie, two teas and two coffees' Emma ordered
'And fruit juice' Julie chimed in
'Ok ladies, about five minutes, I'll bring it over'
'Cheers'
The middle aged waitress disappeared to the kitchen and the four of them located a window table. Sam was obviously a bit concussed and a mutual gleam went between the girls, they could have some fun with this situation.
'Instead of going straight back let's go down to the coast'
'Great idea Mand, I'm up for it'
'Julie?'
'Why not'
'You up for it Sam?'
Sam was sure there was a reason to get home but all he could think of was clothes.
'I could do with a bit of air'
'Ok then, it's settled'
Breakfast then turned up and the conversation was drowned in a flurry of eating and drinking. Another round of drinks later they were ready to leave.
'Take care girls'
'We will, we've got action Sam here'
The waitress looked a little puzzled, there were just the four girls and none of them looked particularly an action girl, least of all the one they referred to as Sam.
Once they were on the move again, Sam was quickly asleep.
'We can have some fun here girls'
'I'm not sure, he's obviously concussed still'
'Yeah but what a chance'
'Well'
'We come clean before we get back home, it'll be fun'
'Ok but it ends on the way home, we'll get him some clothes later'
'Sure Em, but we need a plan'
While Sam slept a fitful sleep the girls planned their mischief. By the time they got to the coast, Sam had undergone a full manicure and pedicure, his shoulder length hair was in two braids and the make up job was completed. He even sported breasts courtesy of Julie's enhancer bra, he didn't have much facial hair and what he had was plucked clean, somehow he slept through all the attention.
'Sam, wake up, we're there'
'Where?'
'The sea Sam, you remember?'
'Uh'
'At breakfast we decided on a day at the sea'
'Oh yeah sure'
It was quite bizarre really, they knew he was a bloke, but everyone else saw a slightly gawky girl, they weren't sure what Sam thought. Although at toilets Sam headed for the gents subconsciously, the others subtly redirected him somehow managing to avoid mentioning sex in the conversations. By mid afternoon he was taking himself into the ladies, although for some reason he felt a bit uncomfortable doing so.
An out of town mall provided some retail therapy, the ring leader Manda insisted on buying Sam some strappy sandals with a three inch heel, the others joined the 'fun' by supplying Sam with a top and skirt from Top Shop and a pair of control pants. A change session later Sam's manhood was concealed and if there was any doubt earlier there was none now. He took to the heels like a duck to water and they were soon back to a fun afternoon, the girls keeping the conversation as neutral sex wise as they could.
Emma was now getting a bit heady and was really into the charade. Seeing a tattoo parlour she came up with an idea.
'Hey guys, lets get a tattoo'
Manda already sported one and was quick to support the idea.
'Hey great idea'
'Whoa, count me out'
'Come on Jules, what 'bout you Sam?'
'Only if Jules does'
'How about it then Jules?'
'Oh what the heck'
An hour and a half later they all sported new body art, the same tattoo circling their navels ' Amanda, Julie, Emma, Samantha' with an interweaving vine in green. The wearer's name was done in red at the top, the others in blue below. Emma got a second nose stud next to her first and Sam was persuaded to get his ears done. If the tattoo guy noticed anything odd he didn't say anything and Sam if anything was now really acting his part.
Late afternoon they returned to the car to head back home.
'You ok Sam?'
'Fine, just a bit queasy'
'Why don't you have a nap'
'Great idea'
Sam was asleep before they were out of the car park.
'When do we come clean Mand?'
'Soon I guess'
'Do we have to just yet' Julie put in
'I thought you were against the idea earlier'
'
Well it has turned out rather fun, I mean we've got him toilet trained' a round of soft chuckles ' so far he hasn't the foggiest and he's got a tattoo which is going to be kinda difficult to explain, we can lose the earrings but that's pretty permanent'
'Perhaps we went a bit far with that'
'We got them too'
'I guess'
'What you got in mind then Julie?'
'Well, there's no classes this week so unless he snaps out of it we keep it going till next weekend, he can stay in your spare room Em' and we do a better job on concealment and that, have some fun'
'Em, you up for this? It's your room'
'Ok guys, count me in'
'Right then we need to do some planning while sleeping beauty is out of it.'
Julie and Manda had a fair bit of shopping to do, leg wax, hair colour, a visit to the local sex shop supplied a couple of other items and a few bits of cheap jewellery and stuff finished off. Emma had done her bit as well, a couple of sleeping tablets had Sam deep into a world of slumber so that when the others arrived just after ten next morning, Sam was already plucked and with some effort bathed. Manda being a medical student was in charge of the next bit, she fitted Sam with a catheter and with some help from Emma fitted his equipment into the latex pant. This was a work of art, designed for transvestites; it concealed all the male gear and was finished with a quite realistic female arrangement. The pant was glued in place, the catheter arranged so peeing could be done a la femme and then they set too on the rest of him.
Emma and Julie waxed arms and legs; Manda dyed his mousy hair an almost white blonde and fitted a pair of blue contacts that Emma bought on impulse a while ago. A 'borrowed' pair of mastectomy replacement breasts was glued in place and Sam was now Samantha. To help things along he was togged out in a pair of Julie's pj's and they put him back in bed. Rather than buy some new clothes, they each donated some stuff for his wardrobe, after all that would be more realistic than all new stuff.
He slept through into the afternoon when Emma woke him
'Come on sleepy, the others are here'
'Wha?'
'Come on get dressed'

Sam sensed something was not right but couldn't place it, he recalled the trip to the coast, checked his tattoo, he couldn't really remember much before that though. The clothes seemed a bit unfamiliar but hey they must be his they were in his room after all. He pulled on a body, a new pair of tights from the drawer, the long denim skirt and the pink jumper. Shoes? The t-bars with the three-inch heels would be ideal. Was his hair really that bright, guess so, he brushed his hair admired the diamond studs, Manda had put in that morning and emerged into the living room. 'Bout time Sam' 'What's the rush?' They all chorused together 'Brad!' 'The film starts in an hour and we have to get to the multiplex.' 'Coffee first' 'Here, you drink, I'll do your hair' When they left the flat Sam once again had braids, albeit now white and some basic makeup. |
The three girls nearly dragged Sam down to Manda's battered and slightly scorched old Volvo and assumed their usual seats. They drove the couple of miles to the multiplex, the girls careful to keep the conversation on safe ground. Sam for his part, was a bit confused still, I mean everything seemed fine, these were her clothes and these were her friends but there was something niggling at the back of his mind.
Emma looked at her friend, he really did look cute sat there playing with his braids and biting his lip while he watched the view out of the window.
"Penny for 'em Sammy" Emma addressed her new girlfriend
"Oh just daydreaming"
The others had already agreed on a line to follow
"Boys!" they chorused
"Am not! It's just that I can't remember past yesterday"
"Blondes!" Julie stated
"Seriously! I mean I remember yesterday but what were we doing before that?" Sam asked the car
"You're serious aren't you?" Emma asked
"Yes" he/she stated
"Well you remember going to my parents cottage?" Julie was testing to see where they could go.
"No"
"Oh boy, Sammy we went to my parents cottage and there was a fire" Julie started
"You were knocked out," Emma added
"We didn't think there was anything wrong though, you were ok straight after" Manda finished
"You want to go for a check up at the hospital" Julie was going for the double bluff.
"No, no, I'll be ok I guess, probably a bit shaken up still" Sam replied
Manda and Em exchanged a glance while Julie tried to give Sam a hug that she tried to return through the seat belts.
They arrived at the cinema and found a parking spot only a few yards from the entrance.
"I have to go" Sam stated
"Me too" Mand added and went with him.
He subconsciously was heading for the gents, a possibility the girls had thought of hence his escort. Manda steered her charge through the right door and watched him into a stall.
Sam was confused. He sat to relieve himself but that didn't seem right? 'Girls always sit' he told himself as his bladder emptied, 'only guys stand up, they have a willy after all and I don't' he concluded. It made sense to wipe so he didn't stain his panties but he felt sort of numb down there, not much feeling at all.
"You drowned in there?" Mand called
"Just coming" he replied redressing himself and flushing.
"I thought you'd fallen asleep again"
"Just taking my time Mand"
When they rejoined the others they joined the queue and impatiently waited for tickets.
"Four students for screen five please" Julie requested of the cashier
"Cards please"
They all hunted in their bags for their NUS cards
"I can't find mine" Sam stated
"You'd lose your head Sam, let me look" Em suggested
Well of course there was no card or for that matter other ID.
"You must have left it in your other bag"
The cashier looked at the girls, the queue and back again. The girl with the wrong bag was pretty cute, especially with those braids. He made his decision.
"Ok girls don't worry, but next time make sure you bring it eh?"
"Thanks" Sam replied giving him a smile of relief
She really was cute when she smiled the cashier thought.
Julie got the tickets and they headed for the refreshments. They stocked up on pick and mix, diet Pepsi and nachos and already eating, headed toward screen five.
At least with a chick flick there weren't a load of teenage boys tossing popcorn about. While the others seemed to empathise with the heroine Sam found himself taking the guys part - was that weird or what. In the sex scenes he again imagined he was the bloke making love to the girl, 'perhaps I'm a lesbian' he chuckled to himself.
An hour and a half later they re emerged into the sunlight and headed for the banged up Volvo.
"You guys still coming round for dinner tonight?" Julie asked
"Sure" Manda replied first
"Sammy?" she queried
"I guess"
"Oh come on Sam, I'm going" Emma stated
"I'll pick you up" Mand offered
"Okay, I'll come" Sam agreed
They dropped Julie off at her flat and Sam and Em were soon 'home' too after arranging for Mand to collect them at six thirty.
"What are you going to wear tonight?" Emma asked
"This?" Sam suggested
"For a pretty girl you are such a ditz!" Emma stated, "come on lets have a look in your wardrobe."
The wardrobe was, for a girl, empty. Emma kept her overflow in it and that had been supplemented with some donations from the others.
"How about this?"
"Too short!"
"Too heavy!"
"It's beige!"
"Come on Sam there must be something?" Em was enjoying this
"You choose"
"Blondes! Well how about this" She brandished a long dress, sleeveless with a breast emphasising cut.
"Erm" Sam was feeling a bit uncomfortable with this but why? She didn't know.
"Come on Samantha, it's perfect" Emma stated
"Okay then"
"Right you get dressed and I'll come back and help you with your make up"
Sam stripped to his underwear, checking out his tattoo 'cute, perhaps I'll get another one sometime' he mused. 'Hmm I really should put some nicer lingerie on' Emma had already seeded the underwear draw with an underwired bra with lacy cups and matching pants. Sam was very open to suggestion and immediately decided on the set then decided he needed some matching legwear.
"Emma, have you got some tights I can borrow?"
'Things are going pretty good' Emma thought to herself before replying
"Here you are" she tossed some glossy 10 den through the door.
"Thanks"
Sam finished dressing and finished it off with a pair of strappy sandals that were under the bed.

"You leaving your hair like that?" Emma asked returning to Sam's room "Well I think so" Sam in truth had gotten used to his braids "That style certainly suits you, come on lets sort your makeup out"
The pipping of a car horn outside heralded Manda's return. "Come on Sam, Manda's here!" "Coming!" They joined their friend in her car. "Nice dress Sam" Manda offered "Thanks, but Emma had to pick it..." "She couldn't make her mind up" Em stated |
Manda set off towards Julie's place
"Oh I forgot" Manda exclaimed, "we need to take some booze"
"There's an offy in Marshall Street" Sam offered
It only took a couple of minutes to reach the off-licence.
"Sam can you get it?" Emma asked
"Sure, what shall I get?"
"One of those big bottles of fizzy wine" Manda suggested
"Okay"
"Sam you might need this" Manda passed him a purse, "I found it on the floor under my seat" she explained.
In reflex Sam checked the contents, a few pounds, bankcards, NUS card and a student bus pass.
"Won't be long" Sam headed for the shop
"Well?" Manda asked
"Well what? If you mean has he twigged at all I don't think so. Leastways he's not said anything - he even asked for some tights and I checked, he's got that lacy bra set on too."
"Cool" Manda giggled
"I take it you sorted the ID out?"
"Yeah, I scanned mine and then mocked one up for Sam, the picture sort of looks like him, as much as ours do" Manda told her
"What about the others?" Emma pursued
"They're all Sam's own, none of them have a picture and just initials so she can even use her Visa card!" Manda informed her friend.
"Shush, she's coming back!"
Sam rejoined his girlfriends in the car brandishing a two-litre bottle of Lambrusco.
"Ta da! This should liven things up!" he/she stated
The others just rolled their eyes at each other. It took another ten minutes to get to Julie's during which they discussed the film they had seen earlier. Sam kept to himself how he felt and just went along with the others comments.
"Hiya!" Julie greeted them
"Hi" the others replied in series
Spying the bottle in Sam's arms Julie continued
"Let's get that bottle opened, dinner won't be long"
Julie's flat was little more than a glorified bedsit really. The bedroom was en-suit and the kitchen shared the same space as the lounge cum study. It was little surprise therefore that the cooking fumes permeated the whole room.
"Em there's glasses in that cupboard, I'll dish up and bring it in."
The three girls and Sam were soon eating spag bol and knocking back the Lambrusco, only Manda showing restraint, she was driving after all. The girls regularly had these 'dinner' parties, being students it helped spread the cost; the bottle was saved for special events.
After clearing the table they started listening to Cd's while dissecting the latest 'Elle'. Sam found himself enjoying the banter; it just seemed so natural.
About eleven Manda broke things up.
"Come on guys, if you want a lift I'm going"
"Oh sure Mand" Sam agreed
"Okay" added Em
"Are we going shopping tomorrow?" Julie asked
"Sounds like a good idea" Mand replied
"Sure" Sam added
"Meet you at the bus station at ten?"
"Make it quarter past, our bus is always late!" Em stated
They all hugged before the travellers departed. Mand dropped Sam and Emma off and the 'flatmates' returned home.
"I'm knackered Em, I'm going to bed"
"Okay Sam, see you in the morning!"
When he'd gone to bed the previous night, it was slightly under the influence. He couldn't actually remember getting changed let alone getting into bed. It was still dark, the clock read 3.05, and Sam needed to pee! He clambered out of bed and pulled his pj bottoms down from their scrunched up position and somehow made his way to the safety of the toilet.
For some reason he had a strange desire to wee stood up but that was being silly, only boys do that and he was a girl, right? Bladder relieved, he returned to his bed and was soon snuggled up again. Comfortable once more, Sam was soon back in the land of Nod, his mind returning to the interrupted dream.
The dream was really weird, disturbing even. It started at the cottage, well no; it was actually at his bed-sit. In essence it covered the weekend at the cottage, the drive up, dinner with the girls, playing strip poker and later the fire. In fact everything up to that point. No what was really weird was that it wasn't Samantha doing all this but a lad named Sam.
Sam sprung up and blinked his eyes open. A quick check confirmed that he was indeed all there, two boobies and no extra bits. So what was the dream about? Penis envy? A boyfriend? Nah, I'm sure it's just some sort of dream brought on by the concussion. Reassured, Sam once again pulled the covers up and tried to sleep.
"Rise and shine Sammy" Emma's voice calling from the doorway roused him from slumber once again.
"You want an omelette? I'm cooking,” she offered.
"I think I'll pass thanks"
"Well don't say I didn't offer. And don't forget that we're going shopping today"
"How could I?"
Emma disappeared leaving Sam to get himself organised. His bladder was shouting for release again so first stop was the bathroom! Immediate needs attended to, he returned to 'his' room only to pause before his long mirror. ' Hmmm, these PJ's are quite cute' he turned this way and that to check out how he looked. 'These shorts really are great, maybe I can find some more later' he mused.
Sam wasn't really sure why but for some reason that he couldn't quite put his finger on, putting a bra and panties on just didn't seem, well right. Whatever, Emma suggested that he wear a simple skirt and top, something easy for the changing rooms.
Em was well pleased, Sam seemed to have turned a metaphoric corner and although he still needed some hints, he'd dressed on his own this morning and not given any argument, just wait till the others find out!
As usual the bus was late so the others were waiting when Sam and Emma got off the minibus an hour later.
"Hi guys"
"Hi Mand, Julie"
"Hiya Sam"
"Okay Emma?" Mand enquired
"Fine, the bus was late again, it's still easier than using the car though"
"If you say so,” Julie mentioned, "where first, Gap ?"
Being a poor student, shopping for Sam was usually restricted to Netto, for food and the occasional trip to Matalan. It had never been the 'entertainment' that girls seemed to use it as. So it was no surprise really that going 'shopping' seemed a strange concept and just a little bit odd to Sam. The concept of 'shopping' in the girl sense was a slightly alien concept.
The three girls kept up a constant stream of all the way up the High Street, a conversation that Sam struggled to follow for much of the time.
"Erm, what are we shopping for?" Sam enquired in the first lull in the conversation since the bus station.
"For?" Emma queried
"Yeah, you know, like 'for' a pair of shoes"
"Well you need a new dress for the weekend for starters" Julie quickly put in. “when I spoke to my olds this morning they were so upset that you lost everything in the fire that they are paying for today, Dad's already transferred the dosh to my account."
"Cool!" Mand mentioned
"Why didn't you say earlier Jules?"
"Well I only just found out before I met you, when I rang Mum with my new mobile number."
"You could get that dress you were looking at last week Sam" Emma suggested.
"That white one?" Mandy asked
Sam was more than a little vague about the dress, he couldn't actually remember looking at any dresses last week. His expression of bemused confusion prompted Emma to continue.
"You remember Sam, that Jaylo one, like she wore on telly the other week?"
Now Jaylo was someone he knew all about! He searched his memory and there it was, Jaylo on Channel 4 in a sexy little white frock.
"I remember now"
"That knock to your noggin must have affected your memory" Julie suggested.
"You might be right, I can remember some stuff but not everything"
The girls exchanged a look.
"What? I've done something embarrassing haven't I? Tell me!"
"Stop panicking" Em suggested, "you haven't done anything"
"You would tell me?"
"'Course we would" Mandy agreed perhaps a little too quickly.
"Stop yammering you lot, there's shopping to do" Julia pointed out, indicating the store beside them.
Without further discussion Sam found himself herded inside the store.
It being mid week the store was fairly quiet; the schools went back on Monday so the only other shoppers were bored housewives. Sam and his girlfriends headed straight to the party frocks. In truth Sam couldn't remember shopping for clothes being this intense, or for that matter, fun. The girls were like locusts, attacking each rack in turn and gathering their prizes.
Sam gamely tried to keep up with the others as they felt fabrics, compared colours and discussed styles. It all seemed quite alien, the fact that he couldn't remember doing anything like it before was a bit disquieting, maybe he should get that check up after all.
"Come on Sam!" Julia tugged at his arm.
"Where we going? Are we finished in here?"
"Dur! To the changing rooms? We've got to try stuff on dummy"
"Oh right. Of course, what am I thinking?"
"Here, bring this" a hanger was thrust into his hand as he followed his friend to the changing rooms.
Mandy and Emma were already inside by the time they got there and the girl waved them through pausing only to count their booty. Once inside Sam felt decidedly weird. The others were already divesting themselves of their outer layers but Sam was, well he wasn't really sure. It was like he shouldn't be there.
"Come on slow coach" Emma broke his reverie.
"Sorry, daydreaming"
"Blondes!" Mand sighed
The nagging feeling of trespassing wouldn't go away though. It wasn't shyness that had him blushing when Emma's knickers went south with her jeans! He knew that he looked just like the others when he was naked but... It just didn't seem right being here with the girls. With a little cajoling, much laughter and not a little contortionism they tried on not only their own selections but most of everyone else's too.
After his initial reservations, even Sam started to have fun. In fact by the time they had made a second foray to the racks, he was enjoying it as much as the others.
For their part, the girls were surprised by the change in their friend's attitude, from shy teenager to bubbly young student in about fifteen minutes. The fact that he did actually look very good in some of the outfits, one might even say better than the real thing, was quite perplexing to say the least!
They eventually left Gap after flexing Julie's plastic just a little. Having overcome his initial reservations Sam was only too happy to repeat the process in Top Shop , Next and a smaller boutique that was a bit more adventurous than the big High Street chains.
"Slow up Sam, I need a cuppa" Mandy grabbed Sam in a bear hug as he set off back up the high Street, "we don't have to go in everywhere today"
"Just when I was having fun. Okay but we've got to go back to Teen Queen for that dress!" Sam allowed.
And so the pattern for the day was set. Sam was turning out to be a regular shopaholic and by the time they called it a day had added not only the Jaylo dress to his wardrobe but a pair of hipster jeans, a gypsy style top and a pretty layered off the shoulder dress, plus a pair of strappy heels.
"We going out tonight?" Mandy asked as they walked back towards the bus station.
"I'm knackered,” Julie mentioned.
"We could just go down the 'Admiral'" Sam suggested.
"You just want to flirt with the barman,” Emma stated.
Did he? There was so much he couldn't remember; did he fancy 'this' barman? Nah, that didn't seem right, but does that mean there is someone 'special'?
"Tell you what then, me an' Sam will meet you down there" his roomie finished.
"Here's our bus" Sam told his friends.
"Okay guys, see you later" Julie and Manda each air kissed the other two before they scurried off to join the bus queue.
'Maybe this whole thing has gone a bit far' Emma mused as their bus bumped its way through the town. 'Sam seems to be enjoying himself, in fact he's acting girlier than some real girls I know, its just so weird' she glanced over to where Sam was flicking through a copy of Vogue with obvious interest.
"Hey Em, maybe I should get my hair done"
"You only just did"
"I did?"
"Before the weekend?"
"Oh right"
"So you wearing your new dress tonight?"
"Nah, I thought I'd save that for Friday. I think I'll wear my new jeans and that gypsy blouse I got"
"You little flirt!"
"Am not"
'Yes maybe it's gone too far - that outfit will have all the guys drooling!' Em mused.
Sam collapsed onto his bed, today had been exhausting! But it had been fun, not hindered by Julies rents supplying spending money! That really had been a bonus, he probably wouldn't have bought anything otherwise and where's the fun in shopping without getting some prizes! Where did that thought come from?
Within a couple of minutes of lying down, Sam was asleep.
"Sam? .... Saaa-maan-thaa!" Emma's voice broke into his dreaming.
"Ungh?"
"Come on sleepy, wakey wakey, we're going out remember"
Sam shook his head, that was one weird dream! He slipped his shoes back on and made his way to the kitchen.
"Shake a leg girl, we've only got an hour before we meet the others"
"Loads of time"
"You are kidding right? You haven't started to get ready yet"
"Coffee first" Sam pleaded
"I'll make the coffee, you go and start getting ready,” Em ordered.
"Okay" Sam groaned
"Scoot!"
Sam returned to his room and started to undress. Once he was down to bra and knickers he headed for the bathroom. As he washed up, his mind went back to that peculiar dream.
'Hey Sam, pass the ball then'
'Coming through!' Sam belted the football at James who then volleyed it at the wall.
'Yeeeeeeeesss! What a goal!' James yelled as the ball thumped against the wall.
The dream went on in a similar vein with Sam and James kicking a ball about before retiring to watch the girls across the other side of the rec.
"Sam!"
"Er yeah, coming" Sam once again was snatched back into reality by Emma's voice, that dream is definitely weird!
"Come on, you not dressed yet?"
"I had to wash and stuff"
"Well get a shift on, I've put your coffee on your desk."
"Thanks, I won't be a jiffy"
He found the coffee and was, after a swift change of underwear, quickly dressed in the new top and jeans. It felt a bit odd, the tight denim taut across his crotch, somehow different to what he remembered. He smoothed the material out and preened in front of the mirror before going to join his flat mate.
"Sexy!"
"Do you think so?"
"Definitely, now sit down and I'll do your makeup"
‘The Admiral' was a strange combination of student pub and friendly local, on one hand they played some good tunes but not so loud that you couldn't talk. It was often the starting point for an evening of student frolics, the Pajama Jump and St Trinians events started there and a lot of the students live close by too. It was no real surprise that when Emma pushed Sam into the bar the place was abuzz with young people.
“What do you want to drink?” Emma asked as they maneuvered towards the bar.
For some reason Sam wanted to ask for a pint of ‘Old Welly', but that didn't seem right.
“Er, dry white wine please”, not exactly hip but at least palatable.
“Hi Sam!” Julies voice carried across the room causing a few of the curious to look around.
Sam felt a little uncomfortable at that, more so as a few of the lads looked for a little longer than is polite!
“Looks like you pulled Sam” Em mentioned over his shoulder.
“Have not!”
“We'll see. Oh hi Jules, what're you drinking?”
Sam wasn't sure how he felt at the prospect of ‘pulling', something wasn't right with that scenario, something he couldn't quite put his finger on!
Emma handed the drinks out and the three of them found a table to sit at while they waited for Manda. Sam took the corner seat and while his friends started talking he was soon tapping the table in time with the ‘Red Hot Chili Peppers'. Mandy arrived and joined their little hen party, Sam continued to hum and tap sort of at the edge of the conversation.
“Er excuse me um miss”
“Hmm?” Sam looked up
“I er, that is I sort of wondered” it dawned on Sam that it was a lad talking to him, “well if you er might like to um dance?”
“I er….”
“Course she would, she'll be with you in a mo” Julie answered for me.
The lad headed for the tiny dance floor.
“What did you say that for?” Sam hissed at Julie
![]() |
“You'd have only hummed and aahed, you always do” “Go on Sam, I said you'd pulled” Em told him standing up. “Leave your bag” Mand added as somewhat hesitantly Sam got up. “Go on” Jules shooed him towards his ‘date'. Somewhat reluctantly and with more than one accusatory glance at his friends, Sam made his way to where his dance partner waited. ‘Goldy Looking Chain' finished and ‘The Scissor Sisters' started. “Josh” the lad leant over and said in her ear. “Sorry?” “I'm Josh” “Oh right, Sam” he allowed “Nice meeting you Sam” Josh managed. “My mates said you'd never go for it” “Go for what?” Sam tried to act calm and managed a girly sway to the beat. “Dancing” “Oh” well given a choice he was right there. “So why did you? Agree that is” |
“Truth?”
“Yeah”
“My friends — I think they're trying to pair me off or something”
“Fair enough” Josh sounded a bit deflated.
“Sorry, I didn't mean it to sound that harsh”
“It's alright, finish the dance?” he enquired
“Sure”
Well one tune stretched to two, then three, Sam and Josh seemed to get along pretty good, almost as if they already knew each other. It was Josh's mates that broke things up, they were on a pub crawl, strictly stag and Josh was going like it or not. After a somewhat stilted farewell, Sam returned to where the others were guarding his bag and drink.
“You well pulled there,” Mand stated
“It wasn't like that”
“What was it like girlfriend?” Julie enquired
“Josh was put up to it”
“Josh is it? You seemed to be getting along really well,” Em added
“We were just talking!” Sam started to colour up.
“Leave her alone guys” Mandy defended for him.
“Its early yet” Em stated with a devious look.
In truth Sam wasn't sure how he felt about the situation. It was good to be up and dancing but it just felt a little odd dancing with a fella, not bad but not quite right either. He was sure he had but he couldn't remember dancing with a lad before, when he danced with the girls later it felt a lot more natural and comfortable.
The crowds flowed in and out of ‘The Admiral' as the evening wore on, occasionally Sam thought he recognised someone but no one seemed to see him and squeezed into the corner he couldn't easily go say hi himself. The four of them drank and danced the evening away, the whole evening in fact, last orders was called before they gathered their stuff to leave. Sam was a little confused and a little merry when the taxi they shared, dropped him and Em back at the flat. Emma made them both a nightcap of chocolate malt Horlicks before a very tired Sam retired for the night.
Sam had a dreamless night, alcohol can do that and he'd certainly had a bit at the Admiral. He woke with a mouth like - well like something not pleasant and there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke on his hair to remind him of last night. The brain cells were not really connecting that well but he stumbled to the bathroom and was soon luxuriating under the shower rose.
"Sammie?" Em enquired through the door.
"Hello."
"You want breakfast?"
"Sure, what're we doing today?"
"The weather looks good, how about the beach?"
"Okay."
Hmm, the beach sounded pretty good, he'd have to do some course work at some point but hey - you're only young once! He finished showering and soon joined Emma in what passed for their kitchen.
"Here you go." Em passed him/her a mug of coffee.
"Cheers." Sam gratefully took a mouthful, which helped to resolve the old sock feeling that still occupied his mouth.
Em smiled to herself as she watched her friend tucking into the toast and marmalade. Sam had put on the flouncy dress that they'd bought yesterday and with his hair hanging loose even without makeup, he looked quite a fox!
"So you wearing that to the beach?"
"Yeah I think so." He flounced the skirt a bit.
"Well I'm taking my bikini, I want to get a tan this year." Em stated.
Sam looked a bit thoughtful while he chomped his toast.
"Wassup girlfriend?" Em queried.
"I don't think I've got a suit here, otherwise I'd do the same."
"We can get you one on the way, they're quite cheap in that boutique on Green Street."
"Yeah okay." Sam agreed although he sounded a bit puzzled.
'I'll have to get the others in on this.' Em thought to herself as she watched her friend finish his breakfast.
It was still only nine thirty when the two of them set off for the sea front, on foot, as it was such a nice day. Sam was looking every bit the girl the others made him striding confidently along in the sassy dress, white hair billowing around his/her head, heels clacking merrily on the pavement. Emma had alerted her co conspirators to the plan and they promised to find them later.
Sam was quiet, only answering Em's direct questions, as they headed towards the sea on the sun warmed streets, even at this time the paving was warm through the thin soles of her sandals. She could remember going to the beach before but not with the girls, no he had flashes of rowdy trips with a load of lads - why on earth would any decent girl do that?
It felt good though with the sun caressing her shoulders, her swishing skirt keeping her legs cool and the big sunglasses keeping the sun out of her eyes. Good but, but not usual.
"Not the white one, you'll look all wishy, try this." Em suggested brandishing a cute yellow two-piece at Sam.
"It's a bit er scanty." Sam noted.
"I've seen you in less." Came the riposte.
"Alright I'll try it."
Em didn't want to push her luck, only allowing herself a brief grin as Sam took the swimsuit into the changing room.
Sam slipped out of the dress and surveyed the ‘garment Em had picked out. It sure was yellow but he was still concerned about the brevity of the ensemble. Ah well, in for a penny - the pants were soon in place, they were fuller in cut than they first looked. After removing his bra it was soon replaced by the two tiny triangles of material and copious straps of the top.
"You died in there?" Em's voice enquired.
"Just finished."
"Well let's see then."
Sam gingerly pulled the curtain back.
"Oh wow! You just have to buy that Sam, you'll have the whole beach ogling you!"
Somehow that didn't reassure Sam in the least, in fact just the opposite.
"Maybe it's a bit much."
"Don't be so wet, you look totally babe-alicious. In fact," she pulled the price tag off, "keep it on then you won't need to change at the beach."
"I'm not walking through town in just this!"
"Of course not silly, put your dress back on, I'll meet you at the till."
Sam closed the curtain, a feeling of, well something, maybe unease. He slipped the dress back over his head and settled it about him. The discarded underwear went into the bag with the other beach stuff. He made his way to the counter where Em was chatting with the assistant.
"Come on Sam, I've paid for your cozzie, you can buy lunch."
"Okay"
See you girls later." the shop girl called out as they departed.
Walking along Sam realised something felt different. After the fairly flimsy underwear that he was used to the bikini felt more restrictive, maybe that's not the right word but certainly the heavier fabric gripped his body more and the brief top certainly let his jugglies move about more than his bras. Not that it was uncomfortable, just different. It was only a short walk now to the beach, or what answers locally to that name, like a lot of the south coast the beach is not sand but pebbles. The downside of course was that you have to use deck chairs if you want any semblance of comfort.
There was a bit of an onshore breeze and Sam was grateful for the extra thickness of his new swimsuit.
“Mand and Julie said they will meet us later.” Emma mentioned as they went through the ritual of fighting with the canvas and timber recliners.
“I hope the weather holds then.”
“The forecast looked good — there!” Em finally won her fight with the chair.
Sam wasn't far behind in getting the seat to stay open on the shelf of pebbles midway between the sea wall and the waves.
“Turn over girl, I'll factor you then you can do me.”
“Sure.” Had Emma ever suggested that before? Why shouldn't she? Sam struggled to remember it happening though in fact he was sure she had rejected his offers previously hadn't she?
Em straddled Sam's back and started to rub their sun block into his back, hmm that felt good. When he put it on himself it was generally a handful splashed about and invariably missing a bit which meant patches of burnt skin after a day mucking about on there beach. Em was being much more thorough and took a full ten minutes to do the job.
"You can do the front yourself, my turn now." she handed Sam the bottle before settling into her own recliner.
Sam couldn't remember being in this position before, a girl wanting a massage from him. Him? Gingerly he assumed the straddle position that Em had used, it felt a bit odd but there were a lot of odd feelings going around lately.
Em yelped, "warm it up first you daft mare!"
"Sorry Em, I forgot."
The second attempt was better and he marveled at the smoothness of Em's skin as his hands spread the gunk about. There it was again, that strange feeling in her nether regions was she getting turned on by this? Em gave a contented sigh as he paused, the intensity of the moment suddenly lost.
"Um, all done, you can turn over now."
"I could get used to that." Em stated as she rolled over.
"Er yeah." Sam agreed.
The two of them completed the sun block application on themselves then settled down to enjoy the rays.
Sam was never one for idling, and after barely ten minutes he was starting to fidget.
“Give over girl, anyone ‘ud think you had ants in your knickers!”
“Sorry, I should've brought something to do.”
“I've got Marie Claire .” Em offered.
“Thanks.”
The magazine was soon produced and while his friend returned to dedicated sun bathing Sam found himself reading adverts for tampons and articles on ‘Your Autumn Wardrobe' and celeb tips on hangover cures. Well it passed the time but even that august volume was soon consigned to the pebbles. The shouting further along the shore once again attracted Sam's attention and he found himself turned about and watching the impromptu footie game.
He soon found himself imagining himself down there that was daft though, what girl would get involved in the rough and tumble of beach football? He glanced over at Em happily dozing in the sunshine, no girl he knew at least! The great sporting event was winding up and his attention was taken with watching a couple of sailing dinghies tacking back and forth across the expanse of the bay.
A shadow fell across Sam's back followed closely by some giggling. “Mand, you've ruined it!” “Hi guys.” Em stretched languidly before sitting herself up. “I'll go get a couple of deckies.” Mand informed them as she slung her bag down. Julie plonked herself on the pebbles next to Sam. “So whatcha been up to?” “Not a lot.” Sam noted “Alright for some, I've had a right day.” Julie moaned. “Anyone fancy an ice cream?” Sam enquired. “Do I!” Em crowed. “Yes please.” Jules added. |
![]() |
“I'd best get Mand one too.” Sam noted as he slipped his dress over his head, there was no way he was walking along the beach in just a bikini!
“I think our Sammie is gonna have a lasting reminder of today.” Em mentioned as Mandy returned with the extra deck chairs.
“Yeah you've both well caught the sun.” Julie agreed.
“What're we doing later?”
“Got a hot date Mand?” Em joked.
“I should be so lucky.” The third conspirator lamented.
“You got something in mind Mand?” Julie asked.
“We always get a takeaway on Wednesdays, what if we eat out for a change, it won't cost much different.”
“I guess I could go for that.” Em noted.
The ice cream girl arrived bearing rapidly melting dairy product.
“Here we go!”
“Thanks Sammie.”
“We're eating out tonight.” Mandy announced.
Out where?” Sam demanded carefully licking a trail of melted ice cream from the back of his hand.
“Gastro pub?” Julie suggested.
“Mehicarno!” Em put in.
“Sam?” Manda enquired.
“I could go for an Italian myself.”
“We're eating not going on the pull!” Em giggled.
“Eh?” Sam missed the joke
“Suits me.” Julie mentioned.
“We can go to that little place on the Bardley Road.” Mand proposed.
“That's that settled then.” Em concluded.
“Er how are we getting there?” Sam asked.
“Well if you lot buy me a tiramisu I'll drive” Mand offered.
“Done!” the others chorused.
The evening's entertainment decided on the discussion turned to more frivolous stuff — the local ‘talent', the rising price of feminine hygiene products and Sam's beachwear to name but a few topics. However a bit before five they decided to call it a day and head home to get ready for the evening. Mand's old Volvo would do the taxi bit about seven thirty so there would be no time to waste getting ready!
“Gods, you've caught the sun a bit Sam.” Em gasped seeing her friends back when they got back to the flat.
“Yeah, you got any after sun? My shoulders are quite sore.” Sam slipped a bikini strap off her shoulder.
“Um yeah, let me go look.”
‘Well,' Em thought to herself as she looked for the cream, ‘there's no hiding what you've been wearing today Sam!' there was a very distinct white outline of a shoulder strap no doubt duplicated and complemented elsewhere.
Mand tooted the horn again.
“There they are.” Julie noted.
“Bout time.” Her friend grumped.
“Sorree,” Em fawned, “Sam wanted me to do ‘her' hair.”
“Hi guys.” Sam added.
“Get in then.” Mand prompted.
They were still belting up when Stirling Mand set off.
“So what took so long?” Julie enquired.
“Well Sam here decided just as we were coming out that she wanted braids again and you know how cack handed she is.”
“I resemble that remark.” Sam almost giggled. Why after all these years she couldn't do braids properly, but hey, Em's a dab hand!
“You do look cute.” Julie noted, especially for a boy! In fact it's a pity you can't bottle it to sell!
It wasn't far to Bardley Road, too far to walk though; Mand was manoeuvring her tank into a parking spot in just under ten minutes.
“You sure its open?” Em asked.
“Nowhere is shut on Wednesdays.” Sam stated.
“Well it doesn't look very open to me.” Em persisted.
As they walked from the car the others had to agree even if they didn't voice their opinions. They were quickly at the door and much to their surprise, given appearances, found it opened by a swarthy young man in a dark suit.
“Bien venuto!”
“You're open.” Mand stated the obvious.
“Of course, for such beautiful laydeez we will always be open.”
“Creep.” Em whispered to Sam.
“Table for four?”
“Er please.” Julie agreed.
A quick glance around the room revealed that it was a slow night; it looked like they would have the restaurant to themselves.
“This a way please.”
Mr Swarthy led them to a table in the window, an old trick to encourage passing trade. Once they were seated he lit the candle in the middle of the table and stood back.
“My name is Gianno, I will be your waiter tonight, you would like drinks?”
“Yes please.” Sam beamed setting his braids a-jig.
“Coke for me,” Mand stated, “I'm driving.”
“A bottle of house white for the rest of us.” Julie requested.
For some reason Sam felt a little aggrieved by Julie's order, he rather fancied a Nasturo after being out in the sun all afternoon.
Gianno departed and one of his colleagues arrived in short order with menus.
“What you having Mand?” Em enquired.
“Dunno, not pizza.”
“I fancy Tagliatelle but like you always get so much.” Julie noted.
“I'll share if you want.” Em offered.
“We having starters?” Sam asked eyeing up the garlic mushrooms.
“Not for me, I won't have room for my pud.” Mand giggled.
“I might have a salad, I'm starved.” Julie told them.
“Here we go laydeez, uno Coca Cola and a bottle of house.” He poured three glasses of wine, hovering maybe a moment too long at Sam's shoulder. His accent was appalling; Sam was prepared to bet ‘Gianno' had never been to Italy in his life.
“Are you ready to order?”
“I'll have the penne de la mer.” Mand stated.
“Starter?”
“Not for me thanks.”
“Er the garlic mushrooms, then Steak Diane.” Sam advised.
“Howa you like the steak?”
“Er medium please.”
“Like your back Sam!” Julie noted.
Gianno seemed to miss that exchange, “and you laydeez?”
“Can we split a Parma Tagliatelle?”
“Of course.”
“We'll have that then and two chefs salads to start.”
Gianno headed off to place our order, returning moments later armed with cutlery and breadsticks.
When he had once again retired to his waiting colleagues Em chimed up, “what do you reckon?” and rolled her eyes towards the waiting waiters.
“Ew!” Mand grimaced.
“They're not that bad,” Julie chuckled, “what about you Sam, got the hots for our waiter?”
“Huh? What d'ya mean?”
“Well duh, curse of the blondes strikes again!” Mand giggled.
“I think she fancies Gianno.” Em threw in.
Sam blushed through her sunburn, so that's what they were on about.
“Do not!”
Well that set the tone of conversation until their food arrived. For some reason she couldn't put a finger on Sam found herself squirming at the very thought of kissing a man of any kind, let alone an Italian waiter!
On the other hand the others were enjoying winding Sam up. Julie and Em in particular were like a pair of terriers; Mand was a bit more reserved although she joined in the teasing. The conversation barely faltered even when the food arrived although to Sam's relief the subject matter did stray from men to clothes. Clothes she could do, after all every girl loves clothes although why her own wardrobe was so meagre she couldn't really square in her head.
The first bottle of plonk didn't go beyond the starters, the second and third followed in fairly short order during the main course leaving Sam a little tiddly.
“You would like the dessert menu laydeez?” Gianno enquired as he cleared the debris.
“Please,” Mand grinned, “I've been looking forward to my pud.”
Mand ordered her tiramisu, Sam and Em ice cream and Julie settled for coffee. By the time they were done, the table candle was a mere stub and it was approaching eleven o'clock. The lack of custom had at least meant they weren't ‘chased' through their meal. They divvied up the bill, which considering the amount of wine consumed was remarkably reasonable — especially with student discount!
“Thanks.”
“Night Gianno”
“Good bye luvverly laydeez, come back soon.”
“We just might.” Julie giggled.
Mand herded her slightly tipsy friends towards her Swedish behemoth, it's a good job someone was sober!
“So what're we doing now?” Em enquired.
“Bed.” Julie suggested.
“Spoilsport!”
“I'm kernackered too.” Sam admitted giving his itchy shoulders a quick rub through his cardi.
“Looks like it's an early night then.” Mand sighed.
“It's been a good night though.” Em mentioned.
It might've only been a ten minute drive back to Em's but Sam was nearly asleep when they got there.
“Come on sleepy head, let's get you to bed.”
“Whatever.” The day's events had really put Sam on the back foot and she barely paused to remove her skirt and top before flopping into bed. Em wasn't much more with it and soon the flat was vibrating to spasmodic drunken snoring.
Sam woke with a mouthful of hair, which she quickly discovered was attached to not her but Em's head.
“Morning luvver.” Em purred from somewhere below eyelevel.
