The 2007 Terry Awards - Final Story List
I created the Terry Awards to celebrate past stories. Older stories are too easily forgotten once they move on to the archives (back pages) and I thought that was a terrible fate.
The first attempt at the awards was for 2008, with the 2007 award list added later to go back to when voting first started.
Stories are selected according to those with the highest vote totals in their category, and they're also selected according to nominations. Nominated stories are put into the "Honorable Mention" categories.
I might not always give a lot of time for nominations ahead of time, but feel free to nominate even after the list has been posted.
There will be no monetary prizes. If your story wins an award, you simply get the satisfaction and notoriety that comes from winning. This isn't really a contest. It's more of a living archive. That's how I like to think of it anyway.

The 2008 awards tried voting but there weren't enough votes to make it fair. I ended up going solely by nominations and vote totals to come up with multiple stories for each category. There is no one best story.

2008 Terry Award Nominations
Okay people. I'm a little concerned. We're half way through the nominations period and I've only received nominations from two people. Please consider sending in your nominations before the nominations end on Jan. 14th. There are a lot of excellent stories here that deserve recognition.
Access to the rules, award categories and story lists can be obtained by the Contests link in the BigCloset Topshelf header.
Remember that nominations must be done manually. There is no voting web page. To make things easier, try copying and pasting the award category list to a text file and use it as a reminder for all the categories when you browse the story lists. Okay? You can then use the same text file to add your nominated stories by copying and pasting from the story lists.

The 2008 Terry Awards - Rules
Only members of Bigcloset Topshelf (BCTS) are eligible to vote.

You can also use my BCTS username (terrynaut) if you prefer.
IMPORTANT: When you vote using the [email protected] address, you must include your BCTS username to validate your vote. In the case of duplicate votes for a particular username, your chosen vote will be verified by private message using BCTS.
For a story to be eligible, it must be transgender fiction on BCTS. It also has to be posted on BCTS sometime during the year for which you're voting. For all multi-part stories (complete and unfinished stories), at least one chapter must be posted sometime during the year for which you're voting.
A list of eligible stories will be posted.
You don't have to vote for all categories and you can vote for the same story in multiple categories.
You can change your mind and vote again but only one of your votes will count. The correct choices will be verified as mentioned in the IMPORTANT note above.
A story category has to have at least 50 different people voting for it, otherwise the category won't be declared to have a winner.
Voting will be done in two phases. The first phase is the nomination process to narrow the number of choices. The second phase is voting to select winners.
Voting for story nominations begins on January 1, 2009 and will end at midnight (PST) on January 14, 2009. The top 5 vote getters for each category will then be tabulated and displayed in a blog sometime on January 17, 2009.
Voting for award winners begins on January 17, 2009 and will end at midnight (PST) on January 31, 2009. The results will be tabulated and displayed in a blog as soon as possible after that date. Perhaps Erin can post the results more officially somewhere after I post them.
Prizes:
Sorry. There will be no monetary prizes. If your story wins an award, you simply get the satisfaction and notoriety that comes from winning. I think that's good enough. :)
I saw this today and the information leaves me confused.
Cosmetic:
The following surgeries are considered cosmetic when used to improve the gender specific appearance of an individual who has undergone or is planning to undergo gender reassignment surgery:
Reduction thyroid chondroplasty
Liposuction
Rhinoplasty
Facial bone reconstruction
Face lift
Blepharoplasty
Voice modification surgery
Hair removal/hairplasty
Breast augmentation
Does this mean I need to wait until 2014?
Voting for the 2008 Terry Awards has ended.
This contest didn't work out for selecting individual winners but there will be future nominations for Best Story Lists. Keep an eye out for them. You never know when they'll pop up.
19 people had voted but that isn't nearly enough for a fair contest. No winners will be posted. I'm very sorry.

I created the Terry Awards to celebrate past stories. Older stories are too easily forgotten once they move on to the archives (back pages) and I think that's a terrible fate.
This batch of awards is for serials and solos only. Terry Awards for complete stories that have been posted in multiple parts will be included later in the year.
Only transgender fiction is considered, and stories are selected by highest vote totals in their category. They're also selected according to nominations. Nominated stories are put into the "Honorable Mention" categories.
I might not always give a lot of time for nominations ahead of time, but feel free to nominate even after the list has been posted.
I'm adding one new rule to my awards. I'm only including one author in any one category for each story length, no matter how many great stories an author has written. I want to make room for other authors. If someone likes a story by any one author, they can easily find other stories by that same author using the "Authors" link.
There will be no monetary prizes. This isn't really a contest. It's more of a living archive. That's how I like to think of it anyway. It's very likely that stories in the list will get more attention. That's a good thing.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I wrote a computer program to extract, sort and format stories from BCTS web pages. I used the "Serials" and "Solo" links to get the web pages, and due to circumstances beyond my control, such as inconsistent use of story tags, I wasn't able to get all of the serials and solos. I know because I remembered some serials that I've read that weren't on the list. I added what I could remember. If I've missed any serials or solos, I'm very sorry. Please let me know and I'll add them if their vote total is high enough, or they can be nominated and possibly added to the "Honorable Mention" category.
