Summary: There are two sides to every image.
This is a poem I wrote the day after Christmas. I am alone on Christmas and found this one hard. If you are looking for bright and cheerful, this is not it. Sorry.
The little girl in the window
There each day to brighten your day
The little girl in the window
Hair in pigtails, wearing a pretty dress
The little girl in the window
Smiling and waving to all who walk by
The little girl in the window
Looking so cheerful and full of joy
The little girl in the window
Noticed by all, but seen by none
The little girl in the window
Wanting friends, but having none
The little girl in the window
Waiting for Mom to come home
The little girl in the window
Scared and all alone
The little girl in the window
Hungry, hoping for food before bed
The little girl in the window
Living a life unknown
Christmas, the most joyful time of year
as family gather from far and near
Lights are hung, for all to see
Memories revealed while trimming the tree
Joy and excitement abound
As gifts chosen with love are passed around
I chose a new life
And must pay the price
Christmas texts are sent to family and friends
Some two-word replies, no response is the trend
Cards were sent out, good wishes to all
few replies, a dead name response, emotions fall
Christmas, the most depressing time of the year
Not welcome with family, far or near
No lights for me to see
Memories bring tears, with the absent tree
Tears and depression abound
As no gifts from loved ones are found
Christmas, the most depressing time of the year
