Tears

Once I was a harp. We made sounds that brought tears from all who heard us.
I cried with them.

Once I was a plow. The food we grew nourished the hungry who shed tears of joy.
I cried with them.

Once I was a loom. My beautiful cloth covered the naked who cried in relief.
I cried with them.

Once I was a sword. The children I struck died.
I cried alone.

I would be a harp and weep again.

I would be a plow and weep again.

I would be a loom and weep again.

I will not be a sword to weep again.
