Today, 29th May 2008, marks the 55th anniversary of the ascent of Everest.

So what, I hear you say and why mention it here in the TopShelf/BigCloset. Well, the person who reported it for The Times(UK newspaper) was James Morris. James later went on to transition and became Jan Morris. Not one to hide, she became a travel writer, as well as writing a book called Conundrum regarding her life (ISBN 978-0571209460).

Jan is a person who didn't let a bit of publicity and fame get in her way of achieving her transition. She was one of the people I thought about when I was starting my transition - if she could do it, then so could I.
