2016 in review

The last week of the year is often given over to reflection on the year that is about to pass, so let me add my own take on 2016.

Out in the world, its been a year of tremendous change -not a lot of it positive. Trump, Brexit, the growing power of Russia, terrorism, - its been pretty hard to find a lot of good news.

Plus, this has been the year of the Celebrity Death. I honestly cant think of a year where more famous people have died, and not just b or c listers, but huge names have left us this year.

On the personal front, I have gone through a lot of upheaval myself - changing jobs, then changing locations, changing homes, for a lot of this year it seemed like trying to find some stability was beyond my reach.

But, as the year draws to a close, I can see that most of those changes actually have ended up with me being in a better position than I could have hoped. I have a decent place to live, with people who care about me, I am doing okay at the job (although at some point I will have to think about retiring) and the hours are perfect for me, in most ways, I am finishing the year much better than I started.

So I hope you understand, while a lot of people would like 2016 to die in a fire, it has had at least a few positives for me.
