I seem to have developed a selective form of social anxiety.

Today, I took my daughter to "K-days" (Its like a fair, with games, rides, and shopping) and while I was there we went to some of the booths that were selling things. In one booth, a young woman was promoting a portrait studio, and when she came close to me to make her pitch, I began to have serious problems. I had trouble breathing, I had trouble looking at her, and mostly I just wanted her to back up a foot or two.

Then, later, we went to another booth that had a man promoting these magnetic bracelets, and he used me for his demonstration of how wearing the bracelet improves your sense of balance. And even though he was actually touching me, I didnt have the kind of fear reaction I had dealt with when I was dealing with the young woman.

Weird, huh?
