Fiction Rules

I turned off commenting on blogs yesterday just to let tempers cool off a little. I left the blogs on so people could have a say but there wouldn't be the sort of escalation that happened earlier. That didn't work perfectly, either.

The real problem here has been people making the assumption that they have a disagreement with someone else. More than half of the recent spats have been based on misunderstandings.

I can only see one solution for my purposes that isn't too draconian nor fueled by my own weariness and the nagging headache I've got from a return of my sinusitis. I'm going to temporarily unpub all of the blogs retroactively as far back as I think necessary. Then I'm going to temporarily turn off blogging. This is just so people can cool off and consider the idea that this site, BigCloset, is a fiction site for people who enjoy TG fiction.

That's all it is. Political discussions have a place and they are not off limits here, that is part of what the blogs are for, but the site's main reason for existence is as a home for TG authors and fans of the fiction they write. Agreement with any particular viewpoint on any particular topic is not required.

I don't parade my views around very much, especially not here. You'll find I'm more inclined to be political elsewhere. Conservatives tend to think I'm a liberal and liberals think I'm a conservative. :) Maybe that tells you something about my own views.
