Yet another introspective poem. Enjoy....

Presented...

Awake at the crack of noon,
Getting ready for the fray,
need to get myself sorted soon,
Exposed in the stark light of day.

Exposed unlovely in the looking glass,
A face as plain as they come,
Gurning, turning that way and this,
Looking to that which I become.

Looking around at the paints and tubs,
Applying crayons to unseemly visage,
Hiding myself — that’s the endless rub,
To be me hiding behind this mirage.

To be me and trying to blend,
Avoiding hate and halfwits bluster,
This mask upon which I depend,
Choosing clothes with lack of lustre.

Choices made and now complete,
True self in glass emerging,
Behind the masque I peep discrete,
And ready for the journey.
