Voices – a poem by J Morose

In the dark of night I hear her calling,
The whispering lilt of her voice divine,
Within the mind's depths and shadows falling,
I now know that her sweet voice is mine.

Once more this night in restless slumber deep,
She calls out to me easing my sorrows,
Haunted shades of torment within my sleep
washed blithely away until tomorrow.

Cast adrift in an ocean of customs,
Buffeted furiously along the shore,
She calls me out of my mind's doldrums,
And makes my shattered heart cry 'more!'

Plodding onward once more, the path unclear,
'Who the hell am I?' shrieks my clarion call,
Once more she comes to me, voice sounding dear,
'You are my other me, I am your soul.'

Thought I'd try my hand at something different, not very good, but sort of describes where I am at right now. Hopefully, normal service should be resumed shortly - Jay.
