I had the wildest dream last night

Not the most descriptive title, I know, but I couldn't think of any other way to put it other than freakin' wild. I've never had a dream, or technically a set of dreams, stay on point to tell a continuous story like that in my life, and, bear in mind I have ADHD so I'm used to "weird" dreams that are unhinged. This one was actually somewhat down to earth which is what made it stand out. It almost felt like a past memory more than a dream, except for specific elements that I remember, that definitely point to it being a dream and not something more supernatural/paranormal.
Basically, I lived the life of a gay teenage girl, but with a heck of a plot twist at the end.
It started in a classroom. I was probably 13, 14 at an absolute stretch, and I had, not necessarily a "bully" problem in the traditional sense. I was the unpopular, reserved, quiet bookworm (so pretty much mirroring my real self at that age. lol), except that I sat in class next to the most popular girl in my entire grade, and she was constantly doing things that, at this point, I perceived as "bullying" even though she never actually tried to hurt or humiliate me. In reality, she was constantly trying to get me out of my comfort zone.
For example, she told me to meet her at the gym because she had something absolutely mind-blowing to show me. Turns out, she had signed me and her up for cheerleading tryouts. I fell for this a second time when she volunteered us to tutor other kids in our grade who were falling behind (with her teaching math, while I taught English).
Needless to say there was a lot of "skipping around" for all this to happen, like being inside a movie where the scenes skip the "unimportant" parts, except I was "living" each scene, you know? Anyway, one day we pass each other, and our hands brushed against each other. She grabbed my hand, our fingers interlocked, and it was like actual static electricity. I stopped dead in my tracks, turned to look at her. She was grinning at me. Turned out all that time, that she had a huge crush on me, and knew that I was secretly crushing on her too.
We became the seventh grade power couple, somehow. We were the only openly gay couple, and with her already being popular, just kind of, contrary to what you'd expect (at least where I grew up in the deep south) made us both even more popular.
Things skip ahead abit at this point, passing scenes of us hanging out in the hallway between classes or going on dates as we both get older, by the time we're seniors, she's the cheer captain, and I'm the marching band drum major, so it's nice to know this fictional me was as much of a band nerd as the real me was (although in reality, my BFF was drum major. I tried out, but chickened out when I realized how much pressure the job required haha).
We went to prom together - I had this gorgeous gold sequin gown with purple trim (our school colors were purple and gold, and I was dating the cheer captain, so dream me thoughtit made sense to look like an incandescent light bulb with legs!). And here's where the plot twist happens.
In the next "scene" we're getting ready to go to our graduation ceremony, when I suddenly black out, according to my girlfriend anyway (Weirdest part of all this is I genuinely do not know what her name was in the dream despite dating for six years' worth of scenes). But for me, I witnessed a horrific tragedy. A small twin engine plane being flown by a pilot under the influence, circled our graduation ceremony (which was taking place outdoors) and slammed into it, killing a good half of my graduating class in the aftermath and leaving me, girlfriend, and a few others who were miraculously not hurt, rushing around barefoot (because screw running in heels in an emergency!) trying to help the survivors.
When I came out of it, I was visibly shaking, crying uncontrollably. She asked me what was wrong, I said "You'll never believe me." She gave me this "All the crap we've been through together?" look, and so I told her about the premenition. I told her details that I had that I had no right to even have, like the exact flight signature of the plane, the owner's name, information that I had "seen" in the aftermath. We immediately called the police, gave them all the information I had, begged them not to let anyone with that name take off from any local airports.
We did receive a small scar as, instead of a plane, we heard a helicopter flying over. Turns out that was just a police helicopter patrolling the area after I had put everyone on high alert with my premenition.
The last thing I remember was going up on the stage to accept my diploma, and the principal stops me and says "Hold on, I have an announcement before you go sit down." And he proceeds to tell this entire stadium full of people how my quick action saved a man's life "and possibly others" - because only girlfriend and I knew that I had a premenition of the full tragedy. The authorities just knew that this poor guy had taken the wrong meds or something.
Anyway, there were other more minor scenes that I remember as I'm writing this, like the time some random guy walks up to me and tries to kiss me, and girlfriend decks him so hard he didn't get back up :D But that was the jist of it.
Like I said at the start, I don't normally have dreams this coherent. At most it 's two, maybe three scenes before the channel changes and my brain goes off on a completely different adventure, but this felt like it lasted for a couple of hours straight, and I wanted to share it somewhere (and Bluesky is not made for long form content like this!)
It's also not lost on me that it's the one year anniversary of DarkKitten being arrested, either, so, maybe it was just my brain's way of giving me something positive to think about? <3
Cheers, and pleasant slumbers! And, don't be too surprised if some of these elements make their way into the novel I'm working on. A good, or at least wacky and off the wall idea, is a terrible thing to waste!
