I think all dads should take a lesson. Tootles.
This is the close of the Gidget S1.E26 | Take a Lesson episode from 1966-03-10 (a little over four years before I was born).
Gidget, which stands for “Girl Midget”, just short of 16 years old is virtually “kidnapped” by the hollering father of her good friend on a Friday night trip to Pasadena to buy a used car from some old lady. All while Gidget is in her pajamas, albeit with a coat over them. As a result a whole lot of hilarity ensues. Ending with the above quote breaking the fourth wall. Though 60 years later, I would say that the word “dads” should be substituted with “parents”.
A very young Sally Field does a superb acting job at portraying Gidget. So this could well be another TV series from the archives of yesteryear to provide us with a lighthearted counterbalance for all the politics of early 2025.
